Vote for Custom ROMs! - Xperia SP General

Hey guys!
Since CM is out, developers can now compile many custom ROMs for us to enjoy!
Now it is time to vote for our favourite custom ROMs!
This is to enable developers to know which ROMs are more popular, so they can work on that first.
To get an idea of the ROMs up there, go here -> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...9GMzdvLXI0N2RfWlV2NHNWNVE&usp=drive_web#gid=1
You can add in your own suggestions, and see how many thanks you get. The more thanks there is, the more popular the ROM is!
Thanks the CM development team: uberlaggydarwin, Kali-, eagleeyetom for this!
Let the voting begin!

Omni is amazing!

Why there is no option por PAC-ROM?
+1

i like dirty unicorn, especialy in flying text animation in setting & other. but for now battery drain is to high for me

This is only for the ROMs that are not developed yet.

I've never use OmniROM before so I couldn't tell.
But from what I've read yeah it is cool.
I voted for PA, but of course I've got no problem if OmniRom get selected

I asked eagleeyetom to change the poll so you guys can vote for more than 1 ROM.

It's been a while coming on XSP forum too busy with xperia z1 and lg g2, xD anyways great poll

Sense 5 :good:
+1

You have to understand that this poll is just to gauge which ROMs are popular, but even if some ROMs are very popular, they may not be compiled/ported if they are outside the devs' ability

Dirty Unicorn! It's perfect for me! But slim ROM is also awesome!

Omnirom will come maybe after a month. Uberlaggydarwin said he would like to get CM 11 done first and he has a few other devices too.
As for Omni, I tried building it with the help of +Brin and other members of OmniRom, though the build was done, the device refuses to start the boot process after flashing it. I had to flash stock with Flashtool to get it working again. So I guess we need to wait a little for Omni.
Cheers!

I'm a member of Omni team and will port it to SP. I just need some time to get a new PC

OK I added a new poll, sorry about that! But now you can choose more than 1 option.

I chose 3, Omni because of curiosity, Ported Sense 5 due to different visual and Vanir Rom beautiful visual. Today I'm in love with Rom Dirty Unicorns

d like to see (Omni) and (Vanir) on our devices, but I think it is better to wait to launch Cm11 to build from it.
Hugs and this is a great topic!

please do not post any other i want
i will include it in my build tree and publish when is ready
will take 1-2 weeks because i have 2 buy an x8
Is it going to be stock CM with ADW and every other stock CM functionality? Nothing will be changed in order to get "additional" functionality and it could be put on github and called "official"?
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
it will be on github
but can not be called official because is not on cyanogen github
will be on freex10 github (fork from cyanogen)
Great news, I'm really happy that more people are trying to develop a fully working cm6/cm7 rom for the X8. Thank you and I'll be waiting for your work to be uploaded.
Joh,,,, mek ngene e ws podo ngguyu2...!!! yess!!!
I hope that it'll be true CM, stock, "official", without million themes embedded and different frameworks, with ADW.Launcher and with stock camera app, and once hopefully geohot hacks X10, we'll be able to flash custom kernels and make fully working CM.
all the best....
Awesome
Lets hope it works flawless.
Thank you!

[Q] Building Latest P.A.C Man Rom

Hello im new to android rom creation and i was looking to make a up to date p.a.c man rom since we have rc2 for cyanogenmod but i was wondering if there was anything special to know when trying to compile p.a.c? thank you for your help
Well, if you just want to compile PAC it's pretty easy. Setup your enviroment like any other build but during repo init, use Pac's github instead of Cyanogenmod's github.
If you want to take CM RC2 and Merge it with PAC to get the "latest", you'd have to setup with PAC and cherry pick CM changes.
There are other ways, but these are the only way I know.
is there any real advantage to doing that? i know cm10.1 rc2 has improvements but i would imagine that would only be using it as a base, im new to this so i dont see how other pac roms like the s3 rom has all of this up to date

I think all the other roms do not have CM10.1 rc2 as a base yet, it released not long ago, right? Perhaps there would be benefits, but very little. I'm not very sure as I've migrated away from CM.

My personal ROM before I switched to PA was based on AOSP. I found that cm had some issues with 240dpi and I couldn't fix it. I used AOSP and it was fine. It was harder to get started ( root and recovery stuff ) but after that it was firne.

@Hashy what happened to your old Kernel and ROM that you would start from scratch ?? I mean any reason for that ?? y not continue dev. cuz that would be easier and faster isn't it.. did the old ROM boot ? did you boot into 4.3 yet I mean through any means ?

I think that you can not compete . You should create together---> it is better---> Have a good rom with kernel than 2 ragged rom with 2 kernel. But mike can work on rom and you can work on kernel This is just my opinion sorry for bad english!

And that's the reason why we don't have 3.4 kernel and 4.3 ROM yet. It's because nobody wants to share work with others or work together on one kernel and one ROM. Anyway i wish you all luck.
hmmm.. unity is strength.. Xperia play is no more about Cosmic Dans Turbo Kernel.. or Lupus's Kernel.. or AOKP or CyanagenMod.. (I mean all this in a good way) we need a "ROM" 4.2/4.3 for Xperia Play and a "Kernel" for Xperia Play.. the brand, the dev, no matters no more.. and the way things are,, I really think dev's should team up to make one Good Rom.. and One Good Kernel.. cuz I don't think Xperia Play would last till Android 6.0 .. so just this device one good last push.. and see how things work out. Split work will only increase/duplicate work.. delay the ROM/Kernel and maybe the ROM would never get rid of bugs.
Guys I don't think teaming up is going to happen, the old thread got deleted so I can't show you any of the stuff that happened. But it got pretty nasty so lets not bring working together up and just focus on getting a stable 4.3 build for our Xperia Play's

Actually yes that seems like a good idea, as 4.3 is only a minor update of 4.2 and people have had success on the play before building 4.2 (without wifi though). But my main concern is being ready for 4.4, which if it is as ram light as everyone says and runs just as fast as gingerbread as everyone is saying, would be perfect for our Xperia Play's. But beggars can't be choosers as I always say

Probably you haven't understand the problem: the problem wasn't you using some of the lxp's commits, the problem was you not asking permissions like everyone else; now probably mike want let you use his work as a base, but it isn't because he is selfish and didn't allow the other people to use his work, it is because you go against the common rule

Need testers for ihackers MIUI V5

Hello guys. I seen the new MIUI custom rom, which is very beautiful & full of modification along with numerous tweaks. I wonder all MIUI fan would love it. But this rom is presently developed only for sony Xperia S/SL but the developer assured me to make this one for our galaxy S3 too. But he need testers. So if anyone interested to enjoy this MIUI rom then please come & be the tester for our galaxy s3. So that he can start the new build for galaxy s3. Thanx in advance. Come soon
If most of you are ready to test this build then Required the following points by Dev....
How many you are presently porting ROMs for S3?
Which versions do you port?
Which the base and the port ROM that you opted for?
What are the Major Bugs in each of your versions?
What are the Major Bugs in your Official Release?
What are the Features that can still be improved?
Which are the Features that are Missing and Should be there?
How long would it take you to give me a very detailed testing report If I send you an experimental build?
Anything Else you would like to suggest or mention?
Anything else I should be aware of before starting working on it?
I want detailed answers on all these questions not just from you but from other users of your device who want me to start making ROMs for them. I hope you got the point what I am really trying to know here, As I don't have the device the only thing I could rely upon would be my testers.

I'm anticipating I'll run into at least as many issues as are plaguing the crespo. Plus WiMAX hasn't been working on any 4.3 builds, so I doubt we'll have it either. I'll post it here when I'm done, don't think I have enough cred on xda to post on the 4g dev section

I forked CyanogenMod's CM10.2 crespo4g repo, and added a couple changes to update storage for KitKat, but most of the device specific stuff draws from the crespo tree, which is already at version 11.0 in CM's sources. I'm gonna try to start a build right now. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I'll also open a thread in the ns4g dev section as soon as I can.
If anyone wants to contribute code/tips/general know-how to this project it would be greatly appreciated. Also since I'm working from the 10.2 codebase, I expect the WiMax issue to carry over. That's something I'm willing to work on when I get it booting.
I also tried a dirty port from this discontinued crespo rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2526740. It just bootloops.
Here's my repo. Feel free to fork/make pull requests/etc...

My thoughts would be to edit the bootclass path in the kernel from the nexus s ROM to work for the nexus s 4g, as well as whatever else code is important in the kernel, then get it booting since in order to dirty port a ns ROM to the ns4g all you have to do is swap kernels and then you'll have basic functionality, but that's my two cents, I could be missing something important idk

Just installed adityaxavier's unofficial CM11. Everything is working, including WiFi to 3G switchover (which wouldn't work in any CM10.2 build or Slimbean 4.3 build).
Wimax 4g is not yet working, but that is a minor issue for most.
I hope the Nexus S 4G development won't die out any time soon. This NS4G is my first smartphone, and I use it as a wifi only device. It was a friend's old phone, donated to me. I also have an original Motorola Droid (also from another friend's old phone stash), which I rooted and modded with custom ROMs and stuff. The Droid is now my little brother's first smartphone (also wifi-only). It's been a great learning experience, AND we get useful devices to use too! It's why I love it here at XDA so much.
NOT Dead! Because I found a few "newer", great ROMs to try out still. ROMs I tried and thoughts:
- adityxavier's unofficial CM 11, build 11 --> great, fast, smooth; but I get those errors prompts saying "process com.phone.android stopped working" after boot up. I tried a clean install, as well as a dirty install after factory reset. Still getting those errors.
- jc4gavejc's AOSP 4.4 for Nexus S 4G --> same as above, but also very simplistic, lean, and clean-looking, which I loved. I would've kept this ROM if not for the same error prompts "process com.phone.android stopped working"; or "process com.messaging.android stopped working". I'm beginning to think my phone can't handle 4.4 builds somehow.
- Slim Bean 4.3 --->fast, smooth, stable, minimalistic-looking, with none of the extra features that I'd likely not use anyways. I'm using it now as my stable ROM until I see a working android 4.4 that I can try out again.
- Helly Bean 4.3 -->Also a fast and stable ROM on my crespo4g device. Lots of extra features from Paranoid Android, which I don't really use. My stock battery charging animation disappears with this one. It seems to power on during charging, even after I turn it off.
- Official CM 10.2 --> easiest to install b/c of the cminstaller, but noticeably slower than the above custom ROMs.
Once I have enough posts, and clearance to do so, I'll post these comments, with more details, in their appropriate threads, to help give feedback on the ROMs I tried. Thanks to all the developers that spent time and efforts on these!
