nexus 7 transparent lock screen android 4.4 - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, am I the only one who can't find the transparent status and navigation bars in lock screen.
Or its not yet available for our tablet yet?
If it is, a link to it will be appreciated. I have searched and looked already BTW.

Would it have to do with having our not having the Experience Launcher. I thought I read that the launcher isn't coming stock installed onto the N7.

Hey, sorry I meant a mod. Nexus 4 has a mod for android 4.4 where it also makes status and nav bar transparent in lock screen. Nova launcher and gel I think only makes them transparent in home screen.
There is a thread for the mod for 3g nexus 7, but I could not find one for Wi-Fi model..

Anyone can help? I am now running Harmony 4.4 rom, and that one also doesn't have transparent status and nav bar in lock screen. No option for that in the setting either.

i believe that after the new update, it enables a semi-transparent status bar which works with all wallpapers. I heard that if you want to keep root, don't update, but I guess this is one way to get the new status bar :silly:

You could always try a launcher... Like Apex that allows for a transparent notification bar.

Only if you run samsung wallpapers.
Nova launcher also gives you the option of a trans status bar..no matter what wallpaper you use.

With the latest update, all wallpapers are supported with a semi-transparent status bar (even on the Touchwiz Home launcher).

I personally just use GSM auto hide to hide the soft keys and use LMT pie launcher. Running Nova as well.

Kit Kat 4.4 transparent nav bar

I have issues on nexus 5 port rom for our device with the transparency of the navigation bar.
Although when it boots I have the correct transparency on lock screen and launcher after opening some apps it goes all black.
On other roms I found it always black.
Anyone knows why is this happening and how to fix?
I really like 4.4 update and I am also a perfectionist

Well you dint understand the problem.
When I open an app or two and return to launcher or lock the screen the navigation bar stays black.
Hit the home button again and try....
I'm getting issues too, i'm using the launcher on Samsung Galaxy Nexus Maguro, and i didn't get transparent navbar and statusbar. So, i installed the gravity box to set it's transparency, but, in the navbar, i only get half of the bar transparent, and half black. What do i have to do to get it fully transparent? I really enjoy the new launcher :x

You don't get it fully transparent. It's supposed to be only half transparent.

Half transparent is fine they designed it this way. But it seems with the early builds we have little bugs like this.

[Q] Transparent Nav Bar - KitKat 4.4

Hi there, I wasn't able to find an answer to this and didn't want to hijack the "GEL coming to all 4.1+ devices?" thread under General..
When I first upgraded my Nexus 7 (2012, WiFi) tablet to KitKat and installed the GEL/latest Google Search - I had the transparent navigation bar AND status bar. However today I noticed the navigation bar at the bottom is no longer transparent, while the status bar at the top still is.
The only thing I can think of that I've changed is I've rooted my tablet with the latest SuperSU. Anyone have some ideas? Once I get home tonight I'll try unrooting it and see if that fixes it, but that seems rather odd it would break that.
Curious if anyone else has noticed this or knows of a fix? Thank you.
Install the GEL launcher again (just the launcher) and you will get it, it'll only be transparent on the homescreen though.
And unless you use Google Now a lot and perform A LOT of google searches, GEL is completely useless if you ask me.

I will try that out when I get home tonight - makes sense.
Agreed on the Launcher on all accounts - but I actually do use Now quite a bit, and love the voice capabilities. And the transparency is oh so purty :victory: Definitely not for everyone, I can see why Google hasn't pushed it out yet. My only beef is the missing Play store button at the top right corner of the app list
There is the launcher extracted from Nexus 5

[Q] 4.4 Update nothing like Nexus 5

It's not even close to being similar.
What's going on?
edit: What's missing:
Translucent menu bar
Translucent dock
The inability to add/remove home pages
Translucent app drawer - App drawer no different. Still shows widgets
Messaging app is still there - Good point though
To sum up, it looks like Jelly Bean..
sure it is. so the status bar isnt clear. install the Google Experience launcher if you didnt install it yet.

It's strange Google becomes easier and more accessible yet people still rather ask on a forum. And wait.

From memory, the same happened with 4.2/4.3 on the Galaxy Nexus vs Nexus 4. They were similar, but there were differences between them. One that springs to mind was the Nexus4 shipped with "Chrome" whereas the Galaxy Nexus had "Browser". There was other bits and bobs that were different between them too, and i remember thinking it was pretty strange, given they were supposed to be both running "vanilla" android.
Search or read existing threads this has been discussed countless of times. Install Nexus 5 port or buy a Nexus 5.

1. the n4 doesnt get the translucent bar.
2. same with the clock
3. install the google experience launcher, its not default
4. see#3
5. open google hangouts and except hangouts as your messaging app(same on n5).
so it turns out only the translucent bar and clock are different. does that make the n5 and n4 4.4 roms not even close to being similar, no.
