[Bounty, PAY TIME] ROOT 4.4 for MOTO X~~Jcase claimed bounty - Moto X General

This is the bounty thread for whomever successfully roots the Moto X (all variants, NON-DEV) on 4.4 KitKat
The idea here is for users to pledge an amount, (i.e. User A says they'll pay $10), if a Developer comes along and announces he/she has a method for rooting the Moto X on KitKat for all variants of the device.
Whatever you do--do NOT pledge an amount if you can't keep it. It makes you look bad, and it makes us all look bad.
With that said, thank you for your pledge!
No matter how much you decide to pledge--it's greatly appreciated. Nobody will judge you if you put in a dollar or two. As long as you're contributing, it's all that matters! :highfive:
I'll check back occasionally and update the totals and quote you on your pledged amount.
Donors will only have to pay once a Dev claims the bounty.
I will go ahead and kick it off...
Pledges as of 11/22/13

In for $20.
Is there some way we can lock people in? Is there a website that will essentially hold the amount in escrow and release only if root achieved, or otherwise return the money if it is not?

Let me see if I can't find something. I would open up a PayPal account to hold the money--but I don't think people would be crazy about that. I'll think of something.

Nice uneducated response... First off, those things in the market version are "ads" not "adds" and the word you are trying to use is "Since" not "Sense" Second, take some time and read the wiki on "Pandora radio" because you clearly don't understand what's what. Pandora was developed by an Indie programmer to use the Indie developed music genome project. The annual fee does everything the hack does, except it also increases the music quality AND pays the Indie developers and allows them to keep the service running.
The Pandora service costs money to run, and as a matter of fact it nearly shut down a few years ago because of that cost. The ads and fees keep the service running and I'm sure you want that. You do enjoy Pandora as much as the millions of others who rely on it for entertainment daily?
The fees that this Indie developer founded service asks for are entirely reasonable and you are circumventing them. That is something to be ashamed of.

Who pay actual musicians.
Oh, them!
I have never noticed any quality changes w the subscription Plus, with this app the biggest catch for me is unlimited skips, I could deal w an add every now and then, just so happens I don't have to anymore. Definetly one of my most used apps.

I assume then you are not rooted? I assume you do not use wireless or wired tether? Both would be against your user agreement, which is a contract. The second would be stealing data when you should be using the built in 3g hotspot and paying $9.99 a month. For shame!!!

This is a very naive response, and reflects zero understanding of the software business.
It costs money to bring you Pandora. They have 250 employees who don't work for free. 50% of their revenue goes to pay royalties. Not many companies would survive with 50% siphoned off the top.
Pandora doesn't care what you do or don't buy, it's the advertising royalties from companies who want to put Ads in front of you that matters to Pandora.
Pandora is already free with Ads (just like many of our apps) and the 40hrs/month limit can be exceeded for the princely sum of 0.99/month. Unlimited streaming media at home, in your pocket, or in your car for $1 a month. That's your definition of 'gready'?
Ad free Pandora One costs a grand total of $3 a month. That's 0.10 cents a day. They are not exactly emptying anyone's pockets for what they provide.
Six skips an hour? That is per station so having multiple stations makes it easy enough to keep the skip limit being much of an issue. The 'skip limit' is not to piss people off, it's one of the reasons they can continue to stream music the way they do.
It's not like Pandora is one of the 'evil empires'.
They struggled financially for years and had to fight the music industry to prevent ruinous royalty fees. As it is they pay the highest royalty rate of any other music stream (radio/satellite). It's only in 2009 that they knew they would be able to stay in business and not be put out of business by the traditional music industry.
And its not like they don't care about their customers. Last year they did a 50 city road show to get input from anyone who wanted to show up.

New Xperia Privilege app just appeared

Don’t know if everyone already knows about this, apologies if they do, but a new app has just appeared for me as a phone update. It's called Xperia Privilege, and it is a Beta app that will hold special offers for Xperia phone users. At the moment you can get an ok photo editor for free for the next couple of weeks (had a quick look, not terrible for something for free, has more effects than some free ones I have seen) and for Xperia Z users specifically you can get a voucher for £20 £22 and a month free Music Unlimited.
I didn't actually get it to work properly, I actually got £22 for some reason Edit: It is £22 not £20. The free month of Music Unlimited it mentioned did not work - but this might be because I had a free trial available anyway to use (or I just read it wrong somehow, I couldn’t go back to check the details once I got it annoyingly)
In the terms it says there are a limited number of these vouchers available (per week) so it is first come first serve each week, but that could be just in case there is too much demand so they can limit it. I would still get it quick if you do want it just in case though.

Make sure to add your account before going into Gdrive. When you go into Gdrive it asks you which account you want to use to redeem and lists the accounts already in the phone. I tried and apparently screwed up or it didn't work. I'll assume I just screwed up.

Is there anything Gdrive is better than over dropbox? (other than being free with the X) Serious question. At $4.99 a month for 100gb it's pretty cheap. hmm so that brings up other questions. If you have 15gb already does it stack to 65gb then if you add the $4.99 a month for 100 does that stack to 165 gig? That's what I want if it works.
The 15gb is part of the 100gb. So if you do what you describe you would end up with 150gb for 4.99$

Like the DropBox deal on the Galaxy S3 was available for T-Mobile S3 users, but not Verizon S3.
EDIT: "spects" tab on Verizon's page for the X does say "Get 50 GB of storage on Google Drive, free for two years."
A tip -- if you happened to skip over the redeem button and can't find it again, just go to Settings -> Product Tour in Drive and it will be there (if you had it to begin with).

There's no viruses. Whoever said there was had to be a false positive. I've scanned it myself and there was nothing detected. I've got tons of tools for the PC that register as "viruses", but they're false positives. Nothing has happened on my tablet either. No mysterious apps or behavior, no charges on my credit card, no collection calls for purchases I've never made, no identity theft..
You've got nothing to worry about. The reason it requires an Internet connection is because it has to download device specific stuff rather than include every possible device with the program itself. It's just how they wrote it. Until we get custom recoveries going, we won't be able to build root into ROMs.

That's a good idea. Think I will do the same.
I really wish this thing had some press. To me it looks like the best tablet out there with the specs and size. I had both n10 & n7 and ones to small other to big. And my fiance has ipad 2 and it's also to big.

You can blame LG for that. This thing is seriously the best Android tablet on the market. I've used all of the "best" Android tablets over the past year and this is by far the best. They've got a solid product.
Honestly I didn't know much about this thing until today. I was planning on getting note 8 until I came across this thing and as long as the reviews are right I'm sure I'll be happy.

I had a Note 8 and it was the perfect size but I couldn't get past the screen resolution. For that reason, I sold it and begun my search for a like size tablet with a higher resolution. That is how I stumbled across this beauty. I have not received mine yet but I've watched enough Youtube videos and have played with it at Best Buy enough to know it's a winner. Looking forward to breaking it in.

Check tomorrow on their twitter feed.
I got mine on Tuesday (ordered) from Newegg for Half off. Yes, for $175. Got it in the Mail on Friday.
They mentioned something to someone who missed out on the deal to check Monday for another good promo.
So far i am really enjoying it.

I am good for $15
I want to purchase the phone, but I won't unless/until it is rooted.
I can pledge $50 to help sweeten the deal.

Indeed. That's the only reason I am hesitating on purchasing this phone. I have tethering right now on my Samsung Exhibit, and it is a feature I cannot do without. Unfortunately, unless I want to unnecessarily pay more to T-Mobile to use the data I'm already paying for, I ( and you ) need root to get that.
kevyreil $20
:good:
Ill post $50 I can't understand why they won't release the source code

ZTE did post the source code. http://opensource.ztedevice.com/
Still need the source to the boot loader, though, for a clean root solution. Without it, root will have to rely on a hack, if one can be found.

The bootloader being locked will not stop root. We want the bootloader unlocked to make it easier for Twrp/cwm and ROMs.

Has anyone gone to settings and enable Developer mode? You do so by tapping 7 times on build number and you are now a developer! Hope this helps.

Pretty much everybody here knows this.
Yeah, I thought so! I have tried every trick in the book and can't get root. Just wondering if the device already has a false root, ' cuz when I ran root checker, it told me that my device has an improper root.

they are not obligated to provide source code for the bootloader, and we would never get.
They have to provide Linux Kernel source to be GPL compliant, but they also neglect to do this on a lot of their phones
