[Q] Error with stock rom flash: ATT LG-D800 - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've consulted a couple of forums, both on XDA developers and on other sites, and I'm at a loss. Every single one shows the exact same method for flashing the stock rom onto my phone, but the method does not appear to be working. It uses the LG Flash Tool (and as we know, att uses a .tot file instead of .kdz, so other tools are not currently compatible). I have most definitely followed the instructions bit by bit, and have not made any errors in this regard. Does anyone have any idea the cause of the error, and if I need to supply more information please ask. I'll do my best (however I'm by no means an expert. I just know a little from playing with my rooted phone and reading here)
I've included an attached image of the flash tool and it's error report. Please and thanks guys

I have the same exact issue with mine. The dll and tot file I have are 100% correct but it fails exactly like yours. Did you find a solution?

i wouldnt worry too much about the error cause on my first G2(AT&T) i returned back to stock numerous times and everytime the error showed at the end, but, i had no problems. everything went back to stock and everything was functional.im sure its an error that we would have to go into the TOT file and edit. i had similar issues when i used to own the droid bionic, with just editing a few lines everything completed with PASS. not sure on the G2 though. still new to it and love it very much stock.

I finally got mine fixed.
Use the attached dll instead of the one that is recommended along with the tot file.

I believe it is actually a semi hidden dll that works for all lg 8974 devices. Which means all G2's

accident flash D803 to D801 lol

hi everyone
if your like me and like to flash and flash stuff by accident things that shouldnt be on your varient lol. (my phone is D803 rogers and i managed to flash t-mo onto it and got stuck in fastboot mode. no download mode no recovery possible at all at this point no matter what button sequence i tried instantly fastboot)after hours of research and trial and error. i managed to use a couple programs that helped me boot my phone D803 which now thinks its a D801 and fully boots as T-mo and at this point it booted and my simcard is not a proper sim it says.
anyways the story is i was able to create a zip that turned my D803 which turned into a D801 back into a D803 and save my fastboot bricked device woohoo.
if any1 needs info on how this was done i will write it down when i have a little more time on my hands.
and also i will thank all the people i can that made the forums and tools that were needed for this to be done.
thanks Jester

were u able to get it back?
Goto AT&T Dev section, find my poweruser ROM post. In the first post there is a dll that you can use to flash back to your original firmware. Does not check model number...

Yes, I had to use fastboot and remove system. Once I did this the lg g2 tool allowed me to reflash the phone back to factory.

D803 question
Hey, kind of related... I'm considering upgrading to the G2 (from Samsung GS2 LTE aka: skyrocket) but i noticed that there isn't a 'D803' or 'rogers' section in the forums. So if i want to flash a custom OS, which versions should i be using? 802? are there dedicated 803 roms and I'm just not seeing them?
Any info would be appreciated.

most roms youll see d800/801/802/803 etc. most cm and aosp are fine i found. just dont do any off the stock kitkat flashing. thats what i did and i got lucky once... i fixed it. but the second time i killed my phone
this site has a few roms made for d803 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2611749
Hey what's up. I had this issue happen to me and it was a big pain for me to fix and there is no official fix. This is what I did in order to fix it. You basically need to adb pull your build prop end change the model number to your original number and place it back on your SD card and change your system over to rewrite able and push the new build prop to your system and bam!!!!! Fixed

im guessing my issue was a bit different. as i couldnt even get a download mode.
what i did was use
fastboot used erase laf then flashed all the ones im gonna mention. d803 laf.img flashed that and since i was already flashing laf i flashed all the rest i could find such as recovery aboot etc.follow this thread to do all this if you have lost download mode and but have it stuck in fastboot mode
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477595 thanks to cms88168 for this step by step. just download all images for your device. mine was d803 so i downloaded all d803 imgs.
then you can head over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483043 and get the DLL file he has made which works with any version i tried 801-802 and 803 tot file. . thanks to AndroidUser00110001 for making this dll file.
you will need to get your model tot file and LGflashtool which can be found it the thread posted above. but please make sure you have your proper tot file. flash that and your good to go. sorry im sure my instructions are all over but should be in right order. im just used to doing not explaining for others. good luck and hope you fix your device

stuck....ls980 thinks it is the d800

my ls980 thinks it is the d800 and I can't seem to flash it back to the ls980.
I flashed a custom ROM thru twrp and I got an error. I tried restoring the backup and the system partition would not mount. after poking around for quite some time I tried restoring the phone in download mode. apparently the computer thought it was the d800 and flashed the system for that phone. when it restarted I saw the at&t boot screen and when it started up it was not working correctly.
I put it back in download mode and tried flashing the phone again. the computer was sure it was the d800. then I tried flashing manually using the DLL intended to convert this and the tot file for the ls980. I get the error saying I can't convert from the d800 to the ls980.
I then tried flashing thru adb from both windows and linux. both say they cannot find the phone regardless how I try connecting.
since I flashed the factory files the phone will not start in recovery mode I have no clue why.
so now I have a phone that:
will not flash the ls980 tot file,
will not connect to adb,
and will not boot into recovery.
now what?

Dang dude. Harsh. I almost ended up in this same situation after downloading files for the wrong device and noticed literally at the last second and was able to pull the plug, literally, and save my device.
I've been looking for ways to fix it in case it happens again and I don't catch it in time, so if I find the answer I'll let you know. There has to be a way to trick the computer into thinking it's a LS980 like it's supposed to be the same way it thought the phone was a d800.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I was told that there was a DLL file that could be used when flashing it to trick it into thinking it's the ls980 but all I get is an error message I forget exactly what the message says but something to the extent that I don't have the right files for the phone that I have.

yo man have you tried using LGNPST, we're in the same boat, i'm waiting for my some downloads on firmwares to try, i'm using LS980 but it thinks it's a VS980 still working on figuring out from my end. i've also heard that the LG mobile support tools can be used to restore the firmware but you gotta do some funny hot swap lol

woops im a little slow here. what is LGNPST ? I solved the issue by manually editing the build.prop file and that tells the lg mobile support tool that it is a different phone. that was a whole different complicated story of its own but it worked.
sorry I didnt see your comment until now.
def sounds like you used the wrong dll or just the stock lg dll which works with some phones, but others need their specific dll to match the tot and such to make a proper bootloader flash over i believe.

[Q] Soft Brick help me please!!!

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING FOR BETTER UNDERSTANDING
Hey fellow LG Owner(s) I am writing this asking for some help. I know that majority of LG Phones use the same software and flashing tools regarding taking your phone back to stock. I currently own an LG G Flex (LS995 Sprint Variant) and I managed to soft brick my phone. I have posted this same message over at the LG G Flex Threads but so far I have gotten no one to provide me some sort of solution on how to un-brick or factory reset my phone.
The status of my phone before it got bricked was it had Root (IOROOT method), Busy-Box (by Jrummy), Build.Prop was edited to display as a Nexus 5, and boot-loader locked along with no custom recovery. If you’re wondering why my boot-loader was locked and why there wasn’t any type of custom recovery was due to the sad fact that Developers are having a hard time on cracking it.
Now to explain on how I soft bricked my phone. I was changing my font style by using a tool called ROM Toolbox (by Jrummy). I managed to change my font once and I attempted to change it a second time, since I was looking for something that displayed it wider and bolder. So as I applied install on the new font I got an automatic reboot.
The reboot consisted of the normal LG Logo display, followed by a black screen and staying as a black screen. On the upper left of my phone the notification indicator was flashing multiple colors (red, white, blue etc). This is the current state of my phone, black screen with a multicolor notification.
My attempts to fix:
- Simple reboot of the phone ((fail))
- Let the phones battery drain out then charge for a few minutes and restart ((fail))
- Managed to get into STOCK recovery and perform clean partition ((fail)
- Managed to get into STOCK recovery and apply factory reset ((fail))
- I got into some weird mode which also gave me the option to apply factory reset ((fail))
- I followed this tutorial (LG Flash Tool) on how to revert back to stock (by hyelton) ((fail))
Link to tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644083
The tutorial by hyelton was almost successful to reverting back to stock firmware until I got to the last step (Number 6). The error that occurred by using the LG Flash Tool was when the tool attempted to flash the stock firmware it gave me a Download FAIL!! “Device Model is different“ notification (Images below). I did this tutorial at least seven times and I got no luck. Every single time that I attempted to do this I kept getting the same notification. I have now ran out if ideas on what to do.
My theory, I believe that by changing my build prop to display as a nexus 5 is the reason why I keep getting this fail notification. On the phone it-self when I put it into download mode it even displays as a Nexus 5 (Images below).
I was wondering since it’s possible to get into STOCK RECOVERY, I saw that it had an option for “ADB SIDELOAD” is it possible to push something thru ADB??? Any type of help is greatly appreciated and thanked. Please do not get upset that you see this in multiple LG threads, I am just trying to find a solution to UNBRICK this very expensive phone that I bought and I cannot afford to just use it as a paper weight. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS
Here is a Link to all my files regarding STOCK tot, dll,lg flash tools, aboot, buildprop, lg usb drivers and adb drivers that are for my phone

i hope these files help anyone that are attempting to help me put my phone back to stock
Alright yall, I am almost official screwed. I purchased this phone about a month ago from Best Buy and they stated that I am out of there 15 day window so I cannot exchange or replace for the same phone. I then went to Sprint on whom I have phone insurance for and they stated that they cannot do anything and that I have to go to one of their Sprint repair stores. I went to one of the repair stores and the gentlemen that assisted me plugged my phone to his computer and immediately knew that my phone was rooted. So from there I played the dumb blonde card acting like I don’t know what he’s talking about and from there he directed me to call LG and see what they can do. So now the current status is I filed a repair request and now I am awaiting a reply from LG. Does anyone have any suggestion???
**SOLUTION** hey yall i got the solution to my problem and it was simply by downloading this universal custom .dll from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2663369
and i managed to flash back to stock recovery using this guide. instead using the dll on the the guide i used the custom one.

how remember that my bootloader is still locked and this model does not have a custom recovery. but i am able to access the stock recovery with an option to ADB SIDELOAD. I got word from a DEV stating that:
"Factory recovery won't let you adb sideload a package without a LG verified updater script so it won't work." (by XDA justinswidebody)
but if he is incorrect i wouldn't mind attempting trial and error. what do you think???

what's the version of your flash tool
edit: after some reading to flash nexus tots you need lg flash tool 1.8
re-edit: I believe that the dll needs to be modified so that it accepts the device as a nexus 5 but once it's done flashing it needs to make the device and ls995 again, but for now it's 1am and I need to be up early later so I'll work on something later, also just some extra information on ther stuff: as for flashing the build prop if you can manage to make it into a flashable update.zip(which also places it in corresponding directory) which is also signed and you can sideload it should flash or just give an error, and another thing that could work with above method is flashing a corrupted kernel which will throw your phone into fastboot mode and with correct files and commands you can repartition the entire device to stock(this one is very dangerous/risky would not recommend it)

LG Flash tool doesn't detect model, please help.

As you read. After a whole day of searching non-stop from day 'til night, I finally give up and ask for help.
I've tried to flash a Lollipop ROM, which resulted in my LG G2 D800 having a soft brick.
I already had this issue once, so I knew what I had to do. I used a Kitkat 20c TOT package to return to Stock Kitkat. However, I kept recieving an error;
Device Model Unknown, Check Model or DLL. Or something similar. Upon my first search, I found out about the custom DLL.
So I tried it. But I get another error; CrossDL [Unknown] to [D800]. I tried 3 different DLL files, modified the TOT file (Hex Editor paste write)
I also ended up flashing some img files I don't remember which post it was exactly, but it was from here.
My device no longer boots up, it gives me, however, the option to either reboot or go directly to download mode once I power it on.
Please note; before and after the img flashing. I kept having the same issue.
So in short, I have no idea of how to flash the tot file because it keeps giving me a Device Model error. It there truly a way for the LG FLash tool (1.8.1 I think) to simply ignore what model it is before flashing?
Also, I tried this on another computer, but no luck, same result. I'm doing this on my PC with a Virtual Machine (I run Linux Mint as a Main OS) so I'm truly unsure if it's that, though the first time I did it when I first had the issue, it worked just fine...
Any ideas, suggetions?
Edit :: Another reason why I'm posting this is because a lot, if not all people with a D800 with this issue, their posts are either ignored or discontinued. So if I get this fixed, I'll make sure to specify how I did.

I actually flashed This ROM
The first time I had this issue, it was because, I flashed CloudyG2 3.3.
Both the D800 Variants of the ROMs
It seems the issue is that I didn't have the kitkat bootloader (though, my device has Kitkat by default, so, why does it have this issue?)

Another thing to test for root

Hey, so me and @schizoidd are working on another thing to test. It is very risky, go here ONLY if you are interested in possibly sacrificing your device for root.
like, very risky. I have an edited .tot file I need to test. I am about 50% sure it will work
I assume this is only for Sprint variants, welp I dunno how I can help then.
THOUGH, @f_scott_scrambled_eggs may be able to help!

I could help with this. I'm running W7 and would probably be using Visual Studio to compile the executable. Also, I have a Sprint G5, and work in a service and repair center, so if things went south, I would be able to order myself a replacement should it get bricked.

Link is ready if you would like to test... please respond in the Skype chat
this is ONLY for the sprint G5 and not any other device. And, yes, the .tot is ready for trial. and the skype link gets ahold of me directly if there's any issue.
Flashing now... will update with results.
UPDATE: Bootlooping.
Code:
Boot verification fail! cause: MISMATCH_SIG_LEN
I'm still able to get into download mode. Only soft bricked it. A stock image flash should fix this for anyone else who's willing to try whenever we get another .tot made to attempt flashing.
you guys edited the boot img in it? :|

No, he did what The did and just wrote TWRP into the TOT. We knew it wouldn't work, but we thought we would just test it anyways to see what would happen.
On the other hand, Schiz edited the TOT before and got it to display userdebug mode on the phone itself, but adb does not recognize it as a userdebug build so we can't use the disable-dm-verity command. Please check out this thread that he started if you have the chance... http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g5/development/sprint-userdebug-t3404260
