If you wanna stay stock then I'd advise you to wait a bit longer for Xposed Framework for 4.4 to be released.

[Q] Canadian D803 custom rom

I noticed on the development forums, there was no custom rom that's compatible/being made for the Canadian variant.
Forgive my newb question but is this because the D803 version has a locked bootloader? And if it is locked, does that mean that we can't flash any custom roms on it?
If I can't make it looks nexus-y I think I really need to sell it asap.
Thanks!
I think we might be screwed for a while until things pick up in development

1. you can try D800 ROMs (ATT). They might work. You might want to start with mods first because they're relatively benign.
2. you can't flash custom ROMs like CM but there are many deodex/partly odex stock ROMs which definitely count as custom because they remove a lot of bloat and add features. So, you don't have to have an unlocked bootloader to flash ROMs. The only things that count are having TWRP (which i believe is loki-d for you) and root.
Unfortunately we may have to wait for FreeGee team to get an unlock going before we'll start seeing AOSP roms. Yes, the D803 has a locked BL, all versions of the G2, G, and G pro do. FreeGee unlocks it, but we don't have it yet.
Why do you need to make it nexus-y? if you minded it so much that you want to replace it just after you got it, why did you buy G2 in the first place? :silly: have patience, friend.
I do believe there's an extremely pre-alpha test of CM10.1 around here somewhere. EDIT: found it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2454417&highlight=cyanogenmod

You just got me super excited. How do we delete just the boot.img, just open the zip and take it out? recompile?
I am guessing if that works, then any at&t rom should work as long as we retain our own kernel.

Yup just open the zip on your computer, delete the boot.img, then transfer to your phone and flash. No issues at all, everything is working.

What does suck though is that most performance/battery enhancements come from kernel changes, and we are probably going to be left out in the dark :crying:
Since most variants of the G2 are almost identical hardware wise...here's hoping it'll turn out like HTC One, where you can freely "flash" to a different variant. *fingers crossed*

D803 ROMs
For any fellow Canadians still interested or confused, there are ROMs being developed for the D800 that the developers also made work with our D803.
Currently I'm running PARANOlDANDROID 3.99-RC2 and everything, including battery life is amazing!
houstonn is also doing some great work over here.
Just keep an eye the roms in the LG G2 AT&T developments section!
Currently I'm running PARANOlDANDROID 3.99-RC2 with a D803 on Rogers.
Everything works amazing, battery life is great. No complaints at all!
Cheers.

[flashable zips] S2W & DT2W - enable / disable

With how much I change / update my ROM and kernel, I wanted a fast and easy way to just flash something to enable DoubleTap2Wake and Sweep2wake because I use both a lot.
I didn't want to have to download or pay for any 3rd party apps that stay open all the time, or only work half the time, and got tired of manually putting the init.d files and changing permissions every time I flash something, so I made some flashable zips (with a little help from XDA members efrant, Moscow Desire, Jonny, and GermainZ).
Figured I'd share, not sure if there's interest; but just in case you're like me and like these mods... Just make sure you have a kernel that supports these mods. I've been using bricked kernel for a while now with zero issues.
Flash the one you want, I included the uninstaller for all. If you flashed both DT2W and S2W and just want one of them, flash the one you want, it will remove the other one.
This eliminates the need to install any app or anything to enable these mods.
Use a kernel you find that specifically states it supports S2W and DT2W.
Thanks for this. Great idea

I use the betas, maybe it's not fully integrated in the "stable" ones, but have never had a single issue with the beta kernels.
Try this one, performs like a boss for me and 100% supports these mods

Worth unlocking?

Hello,
So I recently got an Nexus 6P and been wondering, should I unlock it? Would if be worth it for the kernel and etc.
(I've had past experience of course, just not sure if worth it on a Nexus device)
Thanks[emoji14]

Thats something you have to decide for yourself.
If you want to root, use other kernels or roms you must do it.
If you are fine with it how it works now dont do it.
But i asked me the same question and i didnt regret to do it.
Im on the Pure Nexus Rom and everything works as smooth as before + a little bit more features.

Thats like religion; everybody has his own opinion. Pure Nexus Rom is very near to stock. You can modify a little bit like the statusbar etc. It also included SuperSu for Root Access.
(Maybe other Roms are very good too but i only tried this on 6p.)
You dont NEED to flash a rom, stock is fine too of course.
Nobody can tell you if you should do it or not, thats something you must decide for your own.

No problem,
but if you are really new in the root/flash/modify etc. scene, i can only give you the advise to read a lot about kernels.
Because flashing a Kernel modifies stability and performance more than the rom.
(Please all kernel-fans, dont hit me for my next sentence )
I dont use a costum kernel on the 6p because im not convinced that it will be so much better than the orginal, its smooth as **** and my battery life is absolutly great. So there is for ME no reason to flash a kernel.
