What is CyanogenMod?
CyanogenMod is a free, community built, after market firmware distribution of Android 4.4 (KitKat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

How to flash:
U8800-51:
Very important: Make sure you're on Official GingerBread for U8800pro, if not, you can install it by reading this thread.
1.- Download the ROM corresponding to this model and put it in your SD card.
2.- Go to recovery.
3.- Do the wipes (cache/data/dalvik cache).
4.- Format system.
5.- Install the rom.
6.- Enjoy!
U8800pro:

I was working with desalesouche on CM11.0 and we had the same error. We had to change set_metadata to set_perm in the updater-script. Will try to do that now.

EDIT: I've read around and it seems that set_metadata error is caused by the recovery. We need a new recovery: Clock Work Mod version 6.0.4.3

Yup I just remembered that. All devices with 4.4 KitKat ROMs need latest CWM recovery. I first read this on the nexus 4 forum lol. But how did @SpaceKiller install it properly?

I count into 3 and install your rom in my U8800-51 and post my impression:
The rom is great. Clean.
I test success:
- Notification icon (work);
- FM Radio (work \o/ );
- Data (only testyng edge - ok);
But for me, the wifi don´t work (probably work in U8800Pro.... it´s bad only for -51 users....) So not support for MTD in transfer mode.
Overall it´s a good rom that will please a user U8800Pro that test and go in search of these characteristics I mentioned.

This rom is for u8800pro, no -51 (i tested for my own risk..). Stuck in the first attempt. And in second? For my first attempt reboot after logo operation (before huawei logo) and in second attempt boot normally (the first valid boot take a more time).

BTW this rom is functional after installation...

Relax, as I described in my last post, I used at my own risk .. And rest assured, I will not be asking you if you can fix, I lack time and some reading to correct myself :cyclops:
Not sure what went wrong. Did all wipes and installed this ROM, now phone is not booting.. Just shows Huawei Logo for 5 secs and restarts..
Force install of official firmware also not working
Not going into recovery also. Any suggestion?

Connect in PinkScreen, open "image" folder then replace all files (should be 4) with official files (I archived and uploaded them for you, here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/80110807/image-official u8800pro.rar ) after that you should be able to install official ICS without problems.
EDIT: If you cant enter official recovery (vol+/- when powering on) and instead you get into pinkscreen, try making that dload folder on internal SD card ( thx Pikachukaki )

I install this ROM approximately 10x without these problems... So I do not know what could go wrong.

I think that yes. I have resized partition and installation without any problem.

In the pc, extract the zip file, them checkout the system folder size. If it's way beyond 200 MB, then yes, you have to resize partitions. You can alternatively try to delete unneeded stuff until the folder stays under 200MB, that way, you won't have to resize partition.

This is CyanogenMod, no need to add something, all features are in settings.
If you can, just
- change build.prop from Pro to nonPro
- buggy animations
- wifi
Please do NOT add Supercharger-like fun stuffs.

P.S.: as for me, it's better to port ROMs using source, but to port any JB ROMs we must wait till Blefish release his device tree completely.

I Myself Am working on The Roms for porting to our device and the ONLY thing i care about is "Stability". Benchmarks Prove nothing. There are many Roms in this forum but i am proud to say this rom is Super stable and binds to the dedination of Jellybean(Butter project). No Random Reboots at all (tested 4days now). I hope Users like the stablity in the Rom.

Can you do cm10.1 too?
did port 4.2.2 from DesireHD super smooth Rom but due to error in framework.jar no registration of IMEI so we cant use any network.
i am working in fixing the framework.jar hope i can fix it.
And free ram in this CM10 is about 150-190mb

search forum for official ics b928 a post made by pikachukaki...upgrade to ics he has given very good instructions. Then unlock bootloader and install CWM he has given all the info in his thread.
after it is done you can flash any 4.X+ roms

This is NOT a Rom built from sources (no full rom built from source will work in our device, even ivan ports from Honor after making a Rom for honor with complete sources). This is a Ported Rom using libs from Desire S(ParanoidAndroid) and Desire HD(jellytime). Have taken ShenduOS(december release) of Ivan as base.Used framework.jar from Pikachukaki's Frozenpika 1.6.7 for fixing network issues and imei issues. The ROM has all CM10 functions including ThemeManager support which was absent at ShenduOS.So thats the complete stuff i did hope you guys enjoy. P.S the Rom will be uploaded tomorrow stay tuned

It's a port from s2 probably copying correct files and editing build.prop

This is based on JB 4.1.2 and is a port from S2 whereas Shaaan's build is 4.2 JB which is not booting as of now
Found quiet a few bugs
First, after installation there was not root permission so I uses Shaaan's root.zip to root it. Then there is no Bluetooth setting overlay or toggle
(This was fixed in later version of CM). I'll report if I find anything else. :thumbup:

Instructions for Installation
[May vary on firmware, i will be vague]
Make sure your handset is on 100% battery
PREREQUISITES:
-Root
-Custom Recovery [CWM/TWRP]
1. Download latest zip file and GAPPS from http://cyanfox-rom.com/downloads/
2. Place these two zip files in the SD of your handset [internal or external]
3. Backup all of your data using Titanium Backup, or any other backup software you might have, as the device will be wiped in the process.
4. Reboot to Recovery by pressing and holding Volume Up and Down while pressing the power button while the device is turned off
5. Perform a factory reset
TWRP
6a. Press Install and guide yourself to where you put your Cyanfox zip file
6b. Press add more zips and guide yourself to where you put the GAPPS zip file
6c. Press Install
CWM
6a. Use volume keys to "Install zip"
6b. Navigate to your cyanfox zip file
6c. Repeat step 6b for Gapps file
If upgrading from a previous version or switching from CM11
6a. Dirty flash
6b. Flash Gapps
7. Wipe Cache
8. Reboot and enjoy

i will try to find a fix. the i896 is a carbon copy of the i897, with the rogers logo. it shouldnt be too much of a problem.
can you give me details on your current rom? recovery? any other variables?

My efs folder became blank after installing this ROM. I do have a backup but when I copy it to the root of the phone and restart it my IMEI stays unknown, and cant get service? Am I supposed to set some permissions or something?
I came from 4.1.2 MIUI ROM, now I flashed back to that ROM and everything is fine. This is really weird.

yeah that happens..
whenever you flash 4.3 over 4.1.2 or 4.0.4 then the IMEI no becomes invalid..
In your case you need to flash the rom again after you restored the files in the efs folder..
that is why your IMEI no got restored when you flashed back to MIUI....

it does? weird... its working fine for me... try on a different computer, or try at starbucks (use their wifi).
