In order to overclock your phone you will a custom kernel that has OC support. It should say in the Kernel thread whether or not that particular kernel supports OC'ing.

[Q] Has anyone started overclocking Bravo?

If someone succeeded, could you please share how it's done?
Thank you very much
I have setcpu, but I don't know where to start. It would be nice to get this thing up to 1Ghz or 1.2GHz.
A dev has to build a custom kernel for the bravo that overclocks it. If no dev does it we won't be able to. Setcpu can only do it with an OV kernel installed

Yes, I installed SetCPU on my Bravo, but it offers no option to o/c. Would be interesting to crank this phone up to 1Ghz.

Just found out my thread has been moved here and got replied.
Thanks a lot for the information.
when i finish my bootstrap recovery for the bravo i plan on undertaking an overclock project on it next.
custom kernels are not possible due to the locked bootloader but i might be able to get an OC module to work, it would be installable via the CWM recovery i am porting.
once i build this module, setcpu will work.
i see 1ghz as obtainable.

[Q] Overclock Kernel WITH MultiRom

Hello,
I saw that there are kernels for the Nexus 7 making it able to overclock to 2Ghz
I dont really need the 2Ghz but 1.8Ghz is more then enough.
Is there a Kernel that allows CPU to 1.8Ghz and support MultiRom ?
Or is anyone working on it yet?
Pekeltje
as far as i can tell no kernel do over clocking more then 1.7 Ghz and you have to individually read the kernel discription inorder to determine their computability with ur preferred rom.
And please post questions in Q&A section.
I don't think that's possible.

It is possible to overclock to 1.8 GHz but looks like that only works with Android 4.1... 4.2 and up cause bootloops. You should still be able to overclock to about 1.6 GHz. However, even I am using MultiROM. I don't think you will be able to have MultiROM with a kernel which would let you overclock since it makes changes to the kernel for booting more that one system. I want to overclock too. :crying: Anyone help? Maybe manually editing the elite or motley kernel should let you do that.
You can OC to 1.6GHz and still have multirom on a number of kernels including oxydo, M-Kernel, faux etc.
Finally!

Just realised, the main thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011403) has links to custom kernels. Motley takes you to 1.6. Anyone know how to take it beyond that?

[Q] Overclocking LG Optimus L7 P700

Simple question... How can I overclock this device?
I am currently running latest cm10 from nightly and I cannot overclock it probably because of the kernel....
Any suggestions/ideas about this issue will be gladly appreciated
*bump* I need a solution for overclocking this, someone, please post something!
If there is no custom kernel available for your device you probably are not going to overclock it for now.

The following kernel for overcl... should work with cm build 7 and also for latest cm build...:
purity kernel
Don´t forget to make a backup before installing the kernel ...remember ..everything at your own risk ...

yep, i know.... didn't want to create a custom kernel since i dont have much info about the tolerance of the actual clock value... so thanks for your info...

Help here!

I want to know if I need to install a custom rom or a custom kernel or a combination of both so that I can overclock my phone(1ghz single core). Please help. Why is everybody so silent here, so unwilling to answer a simple question as this. My fourth post of the same question.

Any custom ROM that comes packaged with an included kernel should allow you to overclock. AFAIK the oveclocking capability lies within the kernel (at least with Xperias this is the case) . At the least, a stock ROM with a custom kernel and a CPU/Performance app will give you overclocking options.
My suggestion though is to get a ROM like PAC, that comes with a kernel and the needed app to manage your CPU settings.

That is not fully correct.
Most PAC builds use the stock CM kernel. Our ROM offers performance settings to manage that, but they generally do not allow overclocking.
Some of us have additional builds with performance kernels built in. Not all of us though.
Your best approach would be to install PAC for your device then check your devices XDA thread for a popular performance kernel and flash that afterwords. The performance control will see the new CPU settings and you will then be able to configure it as you need.
DL an oc app, like CPU tuner or whatever..

Yes, you need a kernel with overclock support .
On Gs2 I use PAC and dorimanx kernel
On your phone you need to search for kernels and roms for your model

Best kernel for Nexus4 5.0.1 ?

Hello everyone , I want a kernel for my og. Nexus 4 , preferably a good, stable one with over clock possibilities and double tap to wake if it's possible because I want to give my phone a new life , like how was when I buyed it thanks everyone any help is well-comed !
I tried all kernels ...but non of custom kernels are good...hells doctor is quite well but not perfect..using euphoria 5.02 stock kernel..and found better than any one..
In my opinion the semaphore is the best custom kernel when taking consideration of stability, performance and battery, otherwise each stock is the most stable ofc, because of the unbreakable relations between common development of kernel and rom by developers.

just search kernels with the features you want and try them. FYI the thread will close shortly. no best... threads allowed because best kernel for every individual is different
Thanks guys for help I'm on Franco kernel but it seems it does not have dt2w or it does but I can't find the option? Can anyone tell me if this kernel support dt2w or not or reccomend something similar?

Franco doesn't have dt2w.
There isn't a best kernel. You have to try kernels and see what is best for you. There are some great kernels: franco, hellscore, hellsdoctor, semaphore, matr1x, mirage, faux123, unleashed, ak, bricked, nash...
Check their threads to see if it have dt2w.
