4.4 Update, HUGE PROBLEMS - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After updating my tablet is useless. YouTube app keeps giving me the same message "An error occurred" and I can't watch anything. Google Now keeps saying I have no internet connection. Google Play Store won't load screenshots. I can browse the internet just fine but none of my google apps work, WHAT A MESS!!!
If you guys have any solutions for this please help me out.
Thanks.

Did you start with a clean install, or update and keep all your data? If it's the latter, you might consider a factory reset.

Started out with an update, saw the mess then did a factory reset from the device itself. That didn't help at all so i did
fastboot -w update *image name here*.zip. Still no success.
In a fit of desperation I actually flashed everything manually
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
etc...
NOTHING WORKED!!

Back to 4.3?

If nothing works you can make a clean 4.4. install. With the google images. Or you make a clean 4.3 install.
If you have changed someting, like xposed framework or root or wrong recovery... that this could be the problem.

Already made 2 4.4 clean installs. I think I've traced down the problem though.
It'a DNS problem as the ads on webpages have an "error resolving dns" error on them.
I've tried changing my DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but to no avail. None of the Google apps work.

Try uninstalling Facebook app. I had rotten issues with network performance until I removed this app.
All working great now.

[Q] PlayStore problems

My playstore will not update apps or install new apps.
1. I have logged out and back into my google account.
2. Tried deleting PlayStore app data and force quit.
3. Deleted data from google services app and restarted tablet.
4. Installed TWRP backup from 1 week ago.
Still can't get it to work. Sometimes it will begin to download an app and then stop. Mostly it just says downloading but nothing is happening. I'd appreciate suggestions or solutions. Thanks
Rooted 4.2.2
Could it be a slow network connection?

Network is fine. Computers on network Down 4.88Mbps Up 0.58
Then call google.
They suggest factory reset.
try flashing a different rom along with a gapps package, that could fix it
Since everything else was working I did nothing, Didn't want to reset unless absolutely necessary. Today Google Play is working again. Must have been some communication issue with Google servers.
Did you updated the latest play store?? You can get if form this link.

Have you tried re-flashing gapps via TWRP? Not the ROM but just gapps.

I did not realize that you can flash gapps over stock. I've only done it in conjunction with installation of a ROM.
If I have further problems , I'll give it a try. thanks. Currently it's working normally.

You could also remove updates from the app, a lot easier and fix'd my problems 90% of the time

4.3 problem.

I have a problem with my nexus 4. I noticed that my phone sometimes is getting slow and then I can't do anything, and after a few seconds there is a System FC window. Only reboot helps me.
I use official 4.3, no root, even bootloader is locked.
Any ideas what can I do?

Try a factory reset after backing up everything, that usually solves the problem. You should try it in recovery first, wipe everything. After that do a factory reset in Android. Should work like new. I had problems after installing 4.3 (FC, lags and playstore not working) the factory reset solved it.
Oh, I hope it'll help me.

[Q] jwr66y- few apps immediatly crash

Hey, I've done a full wipe as well as return to stock, then proceed to install jwr66y from scratch, after installing i proceeded installing twrp and superuser, everything seems to run fine with root and all. The only thing which has been bothering me is that some apps are displaying force close error immediatly after starting them. Examples are Adaway, Adfree and Yelp.
Anyone knows what's going on there?
Same thing with me, some apps just crash immediately. I'm glad I made a backup before I installed. I installed the ota through a zip to preserve root/custom recovery and also just installing it normally. Same thing happens with crashes.

Yeah i also installed though a Zip which was supposed to be vanilla with added busybox and root.
I had my nexus 7 running so i was backing up from there which fixed the problem. However i am really wondering why apps which were downloaded straight from google play messed around.
I hope they won't mess around later.
I was completely stock and the same thing happened to me. I had to erase recovery, data and boot loader through fastboot and then reinstall everything new from the factory image on Google's site.

Oh wow. I had to do that with the initial 4.3 release. Don't think I'll do it for such a minor update unless I have a lot of free time. Though, the software update notification is in the way most of the time.. In surprised this isn't affecting more devices.

Problem uninstalling anything.

Like the title says, friends. I, for the first time since I got my tn7,tried to uninstall an app. Specifically giant boulder of death. As soon as I confirmed I wanted to uninstall, the device crashes! About half a second after the crash, I'm greeted by the evga/tegra boot animation, and 5 seconds after that, I'm back on. Tried 20 other apps, all of them cause this, every single time. Has this happened to anyone else? Can I fix without rooting?

1) Try uninstalling by using some "Install/Uninstall app" from play store.
2) If you know to use "adb shell pm" command, then install adb usb drivers, and try the command.
3) Factory reset the device from settings.
4) Try to "clear the data and cache" of play store and download manager apps from "Settings-> Apps -> [Play Store/Download Manager]"
I've only ever tried fastboot. Do I need to root?

I had this problem, tried numerous things. You are in luck though solved it. Download ROM tools or boot animations and force it to remove boot animation. Should work fine now, it might work still if you swap the boot animation for another, odd bug.

Your post breaks my heart. I have 1yr warranty, and since there's no magic "100% return to factory" app I can't break that warranty with rooting

To everyone having this problem, I solved it. Switch to ART and uninstall an app, then reboot, then switch back to dalvik. It seems to reset a script somewhere.

[Q] KTU84L 4.4.3 install failed. Can't re-start.

I've had the OTA popup for 4.4.3 and downloaded/installed however it failed. I'd forgotten that I had installed SuperSU. I've since uninstalled/unrooted however going into the 'check update' screen shows no available updates. How do I re-initialize the install? I assume the new rom is still cached.

You could look in cache, but if you rebooted it's probably gone

Is anything less drastic likely to work? I'd rather not have to go through configuring all my apps again.

Download the factory image and use fastboot to flash each piece except userdata.img

These responses all seem to allude to the phone never prompting again for this same OTA update - is that the case?
