San Jose Note 3 Users - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 General

Hey guys... So I have a little dilemma. I recently upgrade to a GN3 this past thursday and was loving my phone. But today something tragic happened, an accident happened in front of me on the freeway and we nearly missed it, swerving out of the way. Luckily no one in the accident was dead or seriously injured and luckily I wasn't part of it. But during the swerving my laptop fell on my GN3 and cracked the glass. T_T
I'm extremely sad.. It makes me regret not having the insurance.. T_T
EDIT: krazman325 is right! Thanks X)

Before you proceed any further....insurance fraud has serious FEDERAL consequences for yourself and anyone helping you. IE. stiff fines and prison time. That is what you are proposing here. Plus your plan is stupid, as they will verify the imei of the insured device and the broken device. You will get caught. I'm sorry for your loss. Why don't you declare it as colateral damage from your auto accident? PLEASE rethink your plan.

Angry with atrix....

Ok, i am on my second phone... Now, the screen is unresponsive to touch. Att warranty walk in center doesn't even carry the phone. Now they wanna charge me for shipping... Definitely a sad state of service...
Cool story bro.
Sorry for your misfortune, but this isn't really the Dr Phil hugs forum. The Motorola Support Forums would be a better place for a gripefest.
Agreed ^

[Q] Illegal to sell galaxy s ??

Hi, i purchased a galaxy s from a guy in the boozer yesterday, He seemed really genuine and said it was an unwanted upgrade, It came with all leads, books, box everything.
Anyway, it turns out its been blacklisted (insurance job?).. Looking back it was a dodgy decision, but it was a good deal so i just did it lol.
Anyway, i doubt i can unblacklist it without breaking the law so im thinking of selling it on ebay or something as spares / parts, Or to a buyer from outside the UK.
Is this illegal to do ? because i assume the phone has been reported lost/stolen. Am i at risk of 'handling stolen goods' ?
I just want to get a bit of money back for it, so its not so much of a disappointment.
Any ideas?
Take it back to the pub and smack the guy over the head till it breaks.
No more disappointment.
I would not resell it.

well in order to unblacklist it, i will need to change the imei, possibly to the same imei as my other samsung galaxy so the mobile companies dont smell a rat.
but in the UK fiddling with the IMEI can cost you a 5 year prison sentence lol, i would rather count my losses than get bummed in the showers

haha yea i know, but after a few beers, some cash burning a hole in my pocket, and a really *nice* geezer doing me the deal of the decade.. i was lured in lol
oh well **** happens...
Return it to the mobile company and explain how you got it. Or put out a "found" ad. When someone calls ask for the imie number, they can get it from their provider. At least this way there is a small chance of reward, as long as you don't ask for it, then it's ransom.

**** this 10 char ****.....
It's illegal to even have it in your posession, if you're unlucky enough to be caught out you would be arrested for minimum handling stolen goods! If I was you I'd just use it as an iPod or if you have any family/friends abroad ask if they want to buy it. Just leave out the part about it being classed as stolen in britain haha.
looks like i will do that... shame, its a good phone too. not to worry, ive still got my sgs this was just a spare lol
EDIT: I have rang vodafone, they said it had been reported stolen, (so it must of been stolen before i bought it) so ive told them my situation, they are going to find its original owner, And i got some money reduced off my bill for doing a nice thing lol.
I may be down in cash but ive done the right thing i think. Its a bit useless if i cant use it as a phone.
Hopefully you have a warm glow of satisfaction too!
Shame about being down on cash too, but sometimes important lessons cost money to learn. Hopefully your story will have saved others tempted to make the same mistake too, so that might give you another warm glow.
Thank you for sharing your story with us, and thank you for the inspiration you shared by having integrity!

He says his son's phone was overheating so he got a replacement. Big whoop.
I work in a Verizon store. For future reference:
1. You have a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. Basically anything that isn't accidental damage (damage by you) is covered and your phone is replaced with a refurb for free. You basically take the battery and cover from your old one and put it on the new one and then ship back the old one. They give you the box and a prepaid shipping label.
2. Asurion (Insurance) replacements require insurance on the line ($6.99/month for Smartphones with a $99 deductible or $10.99/month with a $170 deductible for iPhone 4s). That covers any damage and a refurb will be shipped the next business day. They'll send you the better version of your phone if they don't have it anymore (ie your Droid broke, they send you a Droid 2 if they're out of them). Asurion replacements have THEIR OWN 1 year warranty. If your Asurion replacement craps out/is bad, call them up @ 1-888-881-2622 and tell them and they'll replace it free of cost. You can claim as many damaged phones as you want, but only 2 lost phones within 12 months.
SO MY BAD.....i read stories all the time...mine is probally the worst yet so sue me .....just another story of phone insurance gone right....what part of free phone cant u comprehend....i have 4 phones and one net book.....on 2 accounts....my youngest sons phone is due for an upgrade incredible 2 verizon 199.99 costco 29.99 with free bundle pack just have to wait till augt 11

Seriously a mistake here or there is no big deal. But your entire paragraph was difficult to follow. The point of these words and the website is to communicate. If we dont understand you then its kinda pointless. Oh and your ADR6400L does have spell check in its keyboard as do so many other keyboards you could choose.

Number of replacements per year?

In the past 2 months I've had a rough experience with sprint.
In June, My BB Curve 8530 stopped working, the sprint store gave me a 9330 (not asurion)
Then the 9330 failed on me 3 weeks later (display went white) so I activated my old HTC hero which then had a problem connecting to the network. I took the Hero in and got a refurb one from the sprint store(not asurion)
Recently my brother got me a used evo in the local classifieds and the power button was kinda mushy so I took it in thinking it was an easy fix but then they told me it had to be replaced and gave me a brand new evo.
Is there a limit to replacements from the sprint store? I know theres a limit on Asurion of 3 a years. but I've never filed a claim with them.
also they have kept ALL the faulty phones. I don't stack them for sale or anything.
Reason I'm asking is that my brother is concerned about having the next repair denied due to them thinking I'm trying to pull off some insurance fraud.
Anyone?

as long as it is a phone defect and not physical damage, they can exchange it as many times they think is prudent. after the 3rd the store can offer you an exchange to another phone model. But that is at the discretion of the store managers.
To thlinx, I expected more from you reading up on some of your comments on another thread,I did a google search and I only found information on asurions part which I already knew. I asked about the replacements by sprint due to common failure instead of user/water damage which is what asurion handles.
the time you took to go to ltmgtfy and tinyurl, could have been used to help someone with a useful post instead of being a troll. "Omg He post linkz to lmgtf he so [email protected]! haha u gots rik rolled loloolol" -,-
hypeo I appreciate your answer.
Since on 3 ocasions it has been a different phone(different model on my part) i think im cool, just hope for better luck with them. I really hate wasting hours at the sprint store without service.

No but if you get 4 or 5 replacements within 6 months you can get a new device of equal or lesser value.. or ***** to the BBB for an upgrade reset or something
My upgrade is due on september...going to wait until november to switch phones, dont like the evo 3d that much and the photon along with the sgs 2 are coming soon.

Thinking about using insurance to get a better phone

So, I have Best Buy mobile insurance, which I pay 10bucks a month.
It's been almost a year, since I bought it with Epic 4g, so I was thinking about using 120$ I spent.
I just read the article about Nexus S 4g getting new 2.3.7 upgrade, so that flared me up a bit about using the insurance to get rid of Epic 4G.
I saw a lot of people few weeks back, whom had full bricks caused by a beta Bonsai rom. I know that those people went to Sprint stores and got new/refurb Epic 4G. Although I think this is 100% user's fault, some people got their new phones for free. So I am thinking about doing that similar thing.
I am trying to get that same rom, or similar and just brick my phone and bring it to BBM. The worst thing that could happen is getting the refurb epic. But I think even it's a refurb, it would still be good as new. This way I can resell epic as new, instead 1 yr old with scratches/wears.
What do you think? Is it just too evil??
I wouldn't rely on it...but if i was trying to brick my phone I'd just check clear bootloader in odin.
Oh really?
That simple to hard brick the phone?
I didn't know ODIN was that dangerous
Best Buy insurance gives you new phones. Usually takes 2-3 business days to get it and they take your old phone. You will either do without, use their loaner or reactivate an old phone. They pretty much don't care why your phone is broke.
Never realized xda supports insurance fraud, this thread should "probably" be closed... just sayin

Came here to say this. When I signed up for BB insurance, they said as long as you can bring it in they will replace it. It can be run over by a car and smashed to bits, no problem. But if it is lost or stolen then you're SOL. So yeah, if you want to get it replaced, why not just drop it in some water or toss it as high in the air as you can and watch it shatter on the cement? If you do that, please record it so we can all watch. hahaha

this is not insurance fraud. this is one thing insurance is actually for. if you break your device, wether it be in a fit of rage, or a pure accident, you pay a deductible, return the old equiptment, and get a new one. everybody wins including bestbuy on keeping your premium payments, their 3rd party insurer, who makes the deductible, you for getting a new phone, and the circle of insurance goes on.
No deductible with Best Buy.

even nicer. i guess thats why its 10 bucks instead of 8 like sprint. i was just saying, this is how indemnity companies make thier money. there is a formula, and they know what they are doing.
hey, i think the better thing about sprints insurance, even though there is a deductible, it covers lost and stolen.
Yes so that has to play into.your insurance decision...are you clumsy, a flash addict (brick), forgetful or in a bad neighborhood...lol.

they do aggressively tell you how to take advantage of it. they did went over it again for me when i bought my tab. "If you drop it in water, make sure you run over it with your car and bring as many parts of it as you can." "Uh, ok."
Insurance is the biggest fraud ever invented in our world.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
haha thanks for advices!
If "accident" happen soon, I will definitely use the insurance. But the process looks more daunting.
They also told me that no deductible / accidental damage coverage for the phone. But I did some more research and found that there is a small print, where they have to send my phone for repair. So it takes them at least 3weeks to decide if it is repairable or not. I think their deadline is 30 days, which after that I can be angry at them and they have to give me a new phone.
I found many experiences with BBM insurance is bad. Almost all of them had to do wait 3 weeks.
Although I have retired HTC Vogue, I don't know I would happy without Epic for a month...
haha

So let's say I'm tired of my car, I want a new one. So I torch the current car to the ground, and you're saying this is not fraud because this is what insurance is for?
They changed that. Sprint phones are now part of Rapid Exchange. They just order you a new phone. They were all set to order a new one for me for the PRL issue but the day I headed over there was the same day Sprint fixed the error in their network.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Talking about forcefully destroying a phone to exploit an insurance process IS insurance fraud. Saying you are going to "stick it to them" because they "stick it to you" is just as ridiculous... because, guess what. You willingly pay for a luxury item and you accept the charges they want to charge you.
Just like Kodeen said, insurance is NOT a future phone upgrade service, just like how car/home insurance is NOT a future car/home upgrade service. Just remember that if you start exploiting the system, you are part of the problem of rising insurance costs AND revisions of insurance policies. I just await the 1000 threads complaining about how horrible Sprint/Best Buy is because of insurance process changes.
But if you have no decency, I guess what do you care??

Yes. If he lies to make the insurance claim, then it's fraud.
If he goes into Best Buy, says he bricked his phone on purpose, and they're ok with that and give him a new one, then it's not fraud. Maybe they would be fine with it, and that would allow him to sleep at night knowing that he got a new phone honestly. If he says he was "clumsy" when he wasn't, or makes up any other untrue but somehow justified-in-his-own-mind claim, then he's lying and committing fraud.
Personally, I agree that $10/month is too much for insurance. That's why I chose not to get it. It's not like anyone makes you go to Best Buy to get their insurance.
playing by the rules is harder , u u d d l r l r b a b a select start makes life easier with the new hotness phone. Business don't go by morals but mear profit.
