What you personally like/dislike about your HTC one - One (M7) General

Tell us what you like and dislike personally about your phone(not that there is a lot that you could dislike about this device), I don't care what it may be. Let us know how much you love or hate your HTC ONE.
AND IF your gonna post telling me how much you hate the thread and that it's useless then honestly if it was useless you wouldn't of bothered opening it. So your comments will not be acknowledged.
By the way, you CAN repeat already posted comments, because it is your opinion.

4MP camera (UPixel). Sure it does a fine job in low light, but one distance comes into factors the quality goes out the window.
I'm not much of a camera person, but it sucks in concerts, and when trying to capture something couple blocks down. I'm always promoting the HTC one to people, but when a GS3 takes better pictures it's progress lost.
Other then that I love this phone.

4MP camera and the complete lack of QC.

lol @ capturing something "down the block", use your feet to zoom or buy a decent DSLR with a couple thousand collar lens.

What possible reason do you guys need more than 4mp? Are you printing 8x10 photos?

Well when an Osprey is landing you kind of need to stay at a distance safety an all and you think hey look that's cool let me take a picture and it comes out horrible. It's advertised to have one of the best cameras on a phone yet a GS3 takes better distance pictures.
Not everything can be taken just a few feet away. Anyways moving along, other then that everything else is awesome.

I wish the phone could be disassembled. Not being able to service the device myself is a big down side. If I could find someone that is willing to trade for the N5 I would do it in a second.

I dislike the silly power button placement. The volume buttons are also very hard to find and press. the camera is ok. unless you look at the pictures on a screen that's bigger than 5". other than that i'm happy with my one, especially since i got rid of nonSense and converted to gpe . oh and boomsound is also a massive disappointment.

The camera is pretty bad and the battery life is not that good.

The camera quality is a huge dissapointment and Blickfeed. The idea of Blinkfed is good, but articles need to go when read and I would like to mix in RSS. Besides that I find battery life great in general use and love thd feel of it and the display. Best mobild yet.

You don't know the term "netiquette", do you?

The most is probably the camera. But, I don't take too many pics so it's not that big of a deal.

Camera is #1 con for most. Including me.other than that i would say power button is a little misplaced. Won't be that much problem as soon as I can get used to S2W which takes time for me.
Unable to tear apart. But I treat my phone like gold so no need to yet.
Pros
Batterylife? can't complain, was terrible at first, but probably because it was partly default until it defaulted completely. Sent it in for repair, now I'm super happy. Getting two days give or take. (On Maximus and ElementalX.)
Alu body finish. Just class.
Screen, wonderful
Best speakers ever.
Superb xda community and Rom support.
Sent with pigeons.

It's so slippery. I'm keeping a case on it mainly for this reason.
Love the front speakers. Maybe too loud, even at minimum.
As said before, blink could have been better.
I'm not that much for looks on a phone, but sense is quite classy. And this aluminum body, really nice. But yeah, f#ckin slippery.

Camera for me. Everything else works well for me. Oh and battery life is a little disappointing but I manage. But that camera though. In low light, it's frikin blows many other phones out (at least all my friends phones) but to us technology people, it's pretty bad. Hopefully the next one comes with like 8mp or more.

First of all looks when my friends saw it everyone said it gots class much attraction
BoomSound and earphone sound both best in smartphones
Disappointment camera purple tint issue and 64 gb wasn't for india
Need 10% more brightness as i live in india more sunny place but satisfied

Is the 520 an amazing deal?

It's going to be released in India for 10k(slightly less than 200$). Same thing as 620 except no front camera. Same 8GB storage, 512MB RAM, 1 Ghz Krait dual-core, 5 MP camera.
If you compare it with the Android pseudo smartphones available at that price (Galaxy Y etc), the 520 is a great device..
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I would say it's a great deal. It has all the insides of the 720 and 620 and all that great built-in Nokia software. It is also lighter than the 620, and has a bigger screen and probably better viewing angles since it's IPS. And about 30% less! What's not to like?
You just have to be aware what you're doing without - primarily no front camera, no flash, and no ClearBlack display that usually makes those Lumias do so well in bright sunlight.
no
there is no flash camera !!!

Its been three days since i got lumia 520 and its worth every penny for its amazing features

This is the Worthiest mobile ever seen, its has every thing and more for that price range, I got my lumia yesterday and its GREAT, The only thing it lacks is front cam .
£109 at carphone warehouse in the UK
I just picked this phone up yesterday for £109 - an absolute bargain. Build quality is extremely good for this price point - it makes my wife's Samsung Galaxy S2 look average in comparison. WP8 is not as highly developed as iOS or Android, but then I wouldn't expect it to be. It's heaps better than Android was a couple of years ago... very slick interface and the Nokia apps are manufacturer apps I actually want!... the only downside is the battery which is ok, but not amazing./

P.S> Will there be a thread on XDA for the new 520/720 devices? or is development on WP8 not really possible?

I don't think so. As of now WP8 development isn't really possible, and tbh I don't see what we can do with it, so maybe not. Overclocking would be nice but useless, with 512MB of RAM.
I can't fine advanced audio settings
I bot this phone a week ago. When i tried to access the advanced audio settings it doesn't show the audio presets or anything. It opens 'enhancements' and nothing else. Does ny one know what I am doing wrong?? anyone with this phone, please reply. Thanks in advance.
Cons
Its Not a good deal in my opinion because the phone does not have flash and front facing camera other wise the phone is good.
Picked one up for wife 2 days back.
Still in the learning curve.
The front camera you may not need that, but the flash is essential for me. I take one 4 days ago but not use it much, Ram 512mb seem ok for this model

I'm thinking about trading my One V in for the 520. They were nice and are gonna give $100 for this laggy pos. The only thing about the no camera flash is I would sometimes want to use it as a flash light. Don't care about front facing camera. Does the 520 have a compass? One thing other than the lag I don't like about the 1v is no compass. I'd trade a compass for a flashlight any day. Worth the trade?

Flash led is the last of problems... Sony is specialized in developing high sensitivity exmor technology for low light performance, and there is not any professional or serious photographer out-there that works with built-in flashes, to get decent results...not even those in pro-sumer cameras.
But if you need a flash led on a phone, to use like a torch.. just buy a 2$ torch!
The main problem, is that when stands for optics and stuff, there is always high price matter.. i would not surprised if that kit would cost as much as an high end phone or even more.
I am not a portrait photographer, but I take landscape and architecture, so, it is never a good idea to use flash on landscape and architecture shots. Therefore, even if there are no flash sticking out of the lens, it would still be nice to be able to carry this thing when I am without my camera.
Don't mind I say this, flash is basically useless if people dont know how it works, lol. Mostly those who like to snap with their flash on from say, audience's seats toward the stage. Or my country's national day celebration recently, many audiences were snapping with flash on from their seats toward the floating platform about 50-100meters away.
It seems is a cool idea but the problem is how much are we going to pay for this "add-on" ??
anything more than SGD$400-500 can get you a good camera so why need the lens only? lolx

That makes three Singaporeans The concept certainly is interesting, I suppose it's to allow you to bring just the phone and lens, rather than phone and full camera. Remains to be seen what kind of images it can take though
After listening, perheps its the quality of the lens and the censor that plays a huge diff in the NOISE in pictures, not the amount of lighting that is needed using flash. wow, learnt something. yep, again, if its $500-$600SGD for the lens... :crying: so expensive. Yep, it look [email protected]@@

We have to accept that photo editors will always be part of our workflow whether we like it or not because half the time, you will not be able to ensure every single portion of that photo are exposed correctly to see the details. Flash can only help a small part in some photos, but when it comes to landscape and architecture, flash is basically useless for me.

With this you have your phone with you anyway and then just the small camera add-on and be in a bag or another pocket etc.

Feel is definitely premium. It is super thin and feels great in the hand.
No negatives yet. Truthfully, it is hard to find any.
Camera shoots great in the dark (flash is amazing). Burst shot and and few new modes, 360 (on other unlocked versions of s4 but not US) and golf shot.
Battery is great. I go all day with it. I train on it, so it gets used and abused.
The display is the best Ive ever seen on a phone. 1080p is amazing!
The new S Pen menu is fast and smooth. Much more improved over Note 2.
The Speaker is now at the bottom, so music and movies are much much louder.
KNOX security is on board and offers dual modes. Personal and work separated
So far everything is seamless.

G2 Or HTC one and need a backup app

Going to be leaving sprint due to its horrible coverage and will be going to t-mobile. I currently have the LG Optimus G and I love this phone. screen size Is perfect, battery life is good. Had the One for a week before I picked up this phone. Fyi search for my thread. We discussed some of your questions @ length last month.
In all honestly, it took me half a day playing around with it. The tmobile and AT&T versions have bigger volume buttons so it's easier grasp vs the Verizon version
The G2 is a faster and fluid One with a better screen. It doesn't have boom sound. The audio hacks do help if you're really stuck on having the louder speaker from the One
Can u link me the thread if you don't mind. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the G2 since currently t-mobile has is offer for the G2 that makes it no down payment upfront

I am torn between these two phones. as well as the the rumored Nexus 5.
I was checking out the LG G2 and HTC one in my local AT&T store and found the G2 very easy to handle. buttons on the back didn't bother me at all. I actually thought they were well thought out.
I tested out the cameras and found the G2 had sharper images with more detail.
Forgot to bring my earphones with me so I couldn't test out the sound from audio jack. But speaker was fine on the G2. Obviously, HTC One has better external speakers, but I found the speakers for the G2 to be quite adequate for phone calls etc.
The screen is gorgeous. Very bright and sharp. I thought it looked just as good or better than the Galaxy Note 3.
I was impressed with LG's UI. Not a ton of crap like Samsung's touchwiz. Very minimal, like stock android.
My only wish is that LG released the G2 in a 64GB model. I would have bought it right there in the store.
Anyone hear any rumors about LG releasing a higher capacity G2 in the future? 32GB's will barely be enough for me. I like taking a lot of photos with my phone and carrying some music playlists and movies. 64GB would be perfect. I might have to go with the HTC One developer Edition if the LG G2 doesn't come out with higher capacity storage. Would have been ideal if they just released the korean version with the removable back cover and microsd slot.

I might have to go with the HTC One developer Edition if the LG G2 doesn't come out with higher capacity storage. Would have been ideal if they just released the korean version with the removable back cover and microsd slot.

Rumors are there's a 64 GB Google Play edition in the works. There's a thread around here discussing that. I doubt it'll see the light of day though
As for removable back, the Korean model has this along with microsd built in. All of this @ the expense of a slightly smaller battery

Here's the link. Honestly, I think Tmobile has the best thing going right now. Which color G2 are you getting?
I've only had the G2 for a week and I miss my HTC One so much! Specially since I have kids and I take a lot of pics inside the house.
HTC One may not have had too much detail but night pictures were clean, quick and never had any trouble.
I have yet to take a single good picture at night in the house whereas I had 1000's of pics on HTC One.
Kids move a lot and HTC One was quick and wide angle lens was a plus.
I am ready to go back to Best Buy and return this and pick up HTC One but there is little bit hope that the blurriness and fakeness at night can be fixed. I tried custom rom and camera modded but they improve one thing but not the other.
HTC One, IMHO of course, has the best night time camera as far as responsiveness, less blurry and just as a consumer. I am no expert by any chance but I see my pictures on my 22" monitor and I can tell HTC One pics were not that good quality but it was closer to real life than LG G2. Heck, I took a shot from G2 last night when kids were watching a movie and it looked like they had masks on, so much processing.
For the first time, my wife's iPhone 5 took better pics just because I didn't have my HTC One.

Had this dilemma today and once I held each device in hand it was a no brainer, G2 all the way. better battery, better screen, better pics, but a different interface that will take a bit of tweaking but that's half the fun of a new device. Add to that that the G2 is a close cousin to what will be the N5 and we should get some AOSP LOVIN!

and ill be getting the White version. maybe
Bump. Only thing stopping me from getting G2 today is that the developers for custom rom is very slow. And I hate using LG cuter interface. At least with the HTC One. There are plenty of custom rooms already made

The LG ui isn't all that bad. With the knock on you also have the knock off with stock launcher and/or knock off in the status bar. So no need to touch the power button unless you want to actually turn it off. And why you would want to do that when it's so awesome I don't know

I turned in my One yesterday for the G2 after owning it only 10 days. Downfalls of the One are:
tiny screen
battery life sucks
kind of a pain in the ass to return to stock
things I liked about the One:
- awesome speakers
- Blinkfeed
Before the One I owned for 10 days I had the S4 for a few months. Not a whole lot of complaints about it but the deving for it seemed to had died down and I got bored with the phone.
I really love the screen and speed of this this phone, and knock knock is awesome. Also the huge battery is a great bonus. I will be keeping this phone for more than 10 days
So I got the G2, is it able to root? I have GCLOUD and Im able to backup my contacts, but i dont see any sms,mms backup.. I have MyBackup as well but how do i transfer it to the G2 without paying for the pro version.

Mybackup root used to let you do this. Search for an older apk of the app. Once you have it, do the migrate option to transfer your contacts etc

Best phone ever

Just got to say this is the best phone I have ever had. I've come from the HTC one and I'm impressed. The only thing I'm disappointed in its the camera.

Exactly my sentiments. Despite the camera, I am still VERY satisfied with this phone. Just pure awesomeness. It is a league classier than the iPhone and the M8. The only direct competitors in the design dept.

I don't mean to speak out of turn but your experience will be relative to what device and camera quality you are accustomed to. If you compare with the likes of the HTC One m7 m8, the OG Moto X or the nexus 4 then you will find the Z3 a big improvement. However, if you are coming from a Galaxy s4/5 or an iPhone 5s/6, then it will be only 'comparable'. Comparable because 1. Sony shines, excuse the pun in the low light area of photography 2. It has better slow motion control in video compared to the others and does give you that 20mp sensor with hardware two stage shutter button 3. I found the digital image stabilization to be better than Apple's OIS (see Btekt youtube vs video). But it is underwhelming when compared to the competition when it comes to zoomed in detail, capture speed and motion blur reduction in still photos. I hope that helps.
I do think this can be addressed with some firmware updates from Sony. They have sent FW updates to the Z2 in the past and made improvements to the camera this way.
For me this is the second best phone I have ever had. Topped by htc one m8. I like the screen more on this one but everything else goes to htc. Even the camera.
Sony should do something with the software.

I think that is where we differ on opinions. I came from the m7 and prefer the camera on the m7. The photos just look real compared to the washed out look of the z3.

I respect your view sir. It is strange that almost every independent review has rated the m8 as the worst performing camera. Mainly due to the low amount of detail. If what you say is true, then the Z3 would be a new low. LOL. Peace.
Best multimedia device to me. Not the the best at any one thing, but well rounded and good at everything. Give me a good swiss army knife any day over the sharpest kitchen blade! Thats the z3!
Coolest and geekiest (in a good) way device. N900. That thing was like minipc with ancient specs that they just decided to slap phone app to! Lol. Damn i miss that thing!
Best phone ever purely on phone aspect.... N95-8gig baby what else! Lol!
A lot of biasoty in this post of course! Lol!

If everything is better on the HTC one but the screen you then I guess you will be using the One as your daily driver, right?

Whatever makes you happy and fits your needs! But the M8 will never take pics like these in the link below. Plus if you wanted to crop one to get a close up of one of the animals. The 4 MP in the M8 really falls apart.
I did not take these pictures. They were posted in the Z3 pictures thread.....

i came from an M8 to the z3. i think everything about the Z3 (in terms of what it has to offer) is better then the M8 maybe except the design of the phone. am really liking the Sony UI as well as the intense battery saving functions. This is the first phone so far for me that I can leave it unrooted with everything on (location, google services) and not have to worry about the battery dying mid day.

What makes this phone fall apart is the inconsistency of the pictures. Sometimes you get a nice result but more often you end up disappointed. M8 on the other hand while not the best camera is quite consistent, you know what you will get. You won't get zoomamble images but on phone screen gorgeous.
When I used it a lot of people said that wow this phone takes nice pictures.
But yup, still on Sony. It's growing on me.

Mostly software. Call me crazy but I like sense.
But also I notice that Sony is not as comfortable to hold. They did round the edges so it's better than z2 but still m8 feels quite nice with the curved back.
But let's see, now when it's time to apart from Sony I am getting hesitant

Oh and also : Is it just me or is the camera lens location annoying? I get my finger there quite often. I like it more when it's in the middle.

lol I'm completely the opposite. I would always get my finger in the M8 lens. so far I havent gotten my finger in the Z3 lense yet
some people are putting way too much emphasis on the camera. Realize one thing people, you use a phone to take pictures for social media, you are not going to use it for your professional work, so for something like an HTC one M8 it should be more than enough. Also, Megapixel isn't everything, the Iphone 6 takes amazing pictures having only have 8 MP.
I came from the HTC One (M8) to the Z3 about 2 weeks ago.
Overall, I am pleased with the switch for several reasons:
- battery life of the Z3. Even though the M8 has great battery life, nothing on the market comes close to the Z3 right now. Unbelievable battery autonomy.
- bezels. Both devices are the same size, yet the Z3 has a bigger display. The M8's bezels were too big for my taste.
- build quality. My M8 has a loose volume rocker and the camera was scratched beyond recognition. I had to apply toothpaste to get rid of the scratches and it made my camera very sensitive to light and basically ruined the already awful camera.
Things I miss about the M8:
- the metal finish. Boy that was nice to feel! The Z3 has the metal bezels, but the back of the M8 was just lovely.
- the "grip" of the phone. The rounded back of the M8 made it easy to hold and handle. the Z3, while better than Z1/Z2, is still a bit too squarish to my taste.
Both fantastic devices, can't go wrong with either. The Z3 just has that extra 'oomph'.
EDIT: of course, I also miss the development options of the M8. Once you S-OFF the M8 you're basically free to do whatever you want. on the other hand I don't even have root on the Z3 still, unless I want to unlock the bootloader and actually lose some features.
If Sony chose to use capacitave buttons rather than functionally have a 4.7" display for a lot of apps due to the navigation bar, I might agree. That is a LOT bezel that could be used and tear down supports there was space for it.
I curse Android and their space hogging capacitave button loving ways. At least Samsung gets it (FWIW) and LG at least made an effort to mitigate the nav bar with immersive mode on the G2/G3.
