I dislike the inbox subfolders view on top. Should've been an option to disable this.

It's pretty bad the stock email app sucks for exchange. I use touchdown for exchange which works awesome. It's pretty expensive but I got it from amazon app store last year sometime when it was on sale for $7.

I was about to return my phone when-- Free touchdown?

Edit: I cant post the link but a quick Google search of Motorola Offering Droid X Owners Free TouchDown Exchange Licenses will give you the webpage.
Sorry if this has been posted but anyone have any experiences?
My e-mail/ calendar/ exchange has been abysmal on the DroidX.
thanks
When Verizon themselves give an Android phone to one of their employees, Touchdown is what they use to connect to VZW corporate Exchange email. Probably the best endorsement there is.
got a link?
do a basic google search. "droid x exchange issues'. u cant lose

Just copy and paste the italicized portion of OP post in google and it will come up with what you want.
Has anyone else seen this or tried to get the free software?

The reply email said "You should expect a response from us within 24 hours", but it has been 2 days and I still haven't heard anything. I will let you know how it pans out.
They updated that to 48 hrs due to heavy call volume.
I downloaded Touchdown (its a free 30 day trial) and im loving it so far. Everything a spartphone/ exchange e-mail system should be.
I would have liked LED notification but ok...

Yes, my license should be arriving today. I was one of the first unfortunate X users to report the problem to Motorola. There are two problems with exchange on the X (both are the result of Moto messing with AOSP software as part of their Blur implementation)...
(1) If your exchange server does not require SSL, you will not be able to connect (true for Exchange 2003, possibly others)
(2) You may receive Exchange items, but notifications may not trigger properly
Bottom line is that Moto screwed it up with Blur, and they are offering Touchdown licenses as a stop-gap measure until Froyo is released.
FYI, you can also resolve the issue by rooting your device and pushing the AOSP Email.apk and CorpCal.apk to /system/app
I will sometimes get my notifications but then sometimes I won't. The other problem.I am seeing is that the push email is not always working for incoming emails. I will have to open the app sometimes before it will refresh he emails. Yet Gmail seems to get my phone right when it hits their server. Never had this with my touch pro 2.

Facebook

#1 Any news on honeycomb version?
#2 anyone else having trouble getting it to sync? It wont even let me add the facebook account on the accounts page.
Facebook no longer syncs with Android. That's for Gingerbread, but I'll bet they implemented it in Honeycomb, too.
And as for a version for HC, I doubt they'll have one cooked up before spring considering how slow they are with the regular Android version.
You didn't block apps from your Facebook did you? I had a problem recently where I could set up the normal Facebook app, on my EVO, but facebook for sense kept failing. Turns out when I went nuts removing annoying apps and trying to lock down my facebooks security, I blocked future unofficial apps.
I can confirm the facebook contacts don't sync on honeycomb. Although Twitter contacts still do. Must be software thing and less a google thing. When you try to add the account to accounts & sync it just flashes and drops you back to accounts.
It actually has more to do with Google's rules for Android. Here's a better explanation of it.
Engadget
It's something Facebook will have to deal with if they ever want the feature to return.
Do they even have a iPad version of Facebook out?
Well Facebook is not happy with Google stop the sync.
Probably FB will demand it back before making the Android tablet version
One thing that I want for FB is MULTI USER client app!!!!!
Which I can choose account to use

Friend Me works really well, it's made specifically for Honeycomb, and it's FREE. The ads are well done so it's not intrusive and for $3 using in app billing u can unlock the ad free version.
The only downside is as of yet they don't have any widgets

Better than creating a new thread to discuss a topic that has already been introduced, don't you think?

[Q] Xoom Email Search -- Where is it???

In the Corporate (Exchange) mail. There is NO SEARCH button. I cannot find it on any menus either. I did download touchdown and am able to search in there but either I can't find it in the regular email program or it's a huge blunder by the Honeycomb team and they forgot to include one.
Sorry this has never been a feature of stock Android, ever. Not to say that it won't come, but they just haven't ever included it for whatever reason.
Pure speculation, but i think the search is missing because it would be restricted to messages downloaded to the xoom, missing anything residing on the server, reducing the usefulness of the search results.
For example, searching my gmail inbox from the mail app on my iphone never gives me anything past 10 recent emails.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
My evo has email search and I have used it a ton of times. Kinda pissed it isn't included.

You might try using K9 Mail. They just released an update to make it compatible with honeycomb albeit not optimized.
I have XOOM and will probably return it because of this problem. FYI the built in Apple IPAD email reader is able to search local exchange mail correctly. Also the IPAD reader has a very useful preview funciton that I am used to in exchange and neither the built in email reader nor touchdown have this feature. bummer!
not included in the first honeycomb OS update
Well, my xoom just received the update to prepare it for the 3/18 adobe flash download -- email search was not included in this upldate. I too really miss this feature.

Think "Software platform", and then go download K9, it's free, or buy Touchdown. One does not have to rely on stock apps.
@Bauxite ...
WRONG... vanilla froyo and gingerbread (as well as all versions before that i think?) have ALWAYS had stock email search capabilities as well as systemwide searching. have you ever looked at just about every android device with the harware spyglass button at the bottom??
whats up xoom/motorola/google? this could be a dealbreaker for most people including me.
no email search
Pretty poor coming from a company who is al about search.
Is there any update to this?
I have an ASUS Transformer and it is VERY annoying not to have search functionality in the browser. I use IMAP and not Exchange so I can't figure out how to make Touchdown work either (plus I would rather not pay money)
Fix this, Google!!

[Q] Good Email app?

Hi
anyone could recommend good email app? im using gmail+yahoo apps and i think its over load to use 2 different email clients.. anyone tried any other good email app other than stock email app?
Cheers
Sam
I use maildroid which has a free version with ads, ads are very discrete and free version pretty much has full potential. Its one of the few not based on stock.
Has everything you need, exchange, pop, I map, good support, works well in ics.
Can't recommend enough, more stable than k9 mail (built on stock)

[REQ] Modified email app with Exchange security disabled

Hi, I want to use our corporate email server (Exchange 2010) on Nexus 4, but I don't want it to apply all security policies (device password & encryption, etc.). Is there a modified email app available? I'm on stock 4.2.2 rooted and deodexed,

I saw it, but I was not sure if it will work because it's for Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Android 4.2.1
But I will try it.

Is this solution working? I have the same need, thanks
I'm sure most people are already aware, but you'll almost certainly get sacked if your employer finds out that you're using this. Is it really worth it?
I've been tempted several times, but I've settled with Touchdown. The interface is awful and it makes Windows 3.11 look modern, but importantly it doesn't insist on a lockscreen PIN, it doesn't insist on encrypting the device, and it doesn't insist on other annoying things like disabling the camera, etc. etc. It runs as an isolated standalone email client.

Plus if the worst came to the worst, I would just change me exchange password :good:

Have you verified this with your HR department?
Policies are implemented for a reason, what you consider to be boring is not important.
Organisations take security and data protection seriously, it is not for an employee to determine what the firm considers important or not.
can some application (mostly downloaded from play store) steal mail, password, credit card number etc.. by using this application?? sorry bad english...

As an FYI, we would revoke your bring your own device rights if we caught you doing this. Too many android devices circumventing policies that we will likely be removing them from accepted use list. Sad, but true. Fortunately is IT guys keep ours . Pays to be tight with the Exchange Admin. Just be careful....you likely signed an "acceptable use" policy.
