Edit, nvm seems that you weren't starting them, just posting to them. My mistake

So why don't you search for it and post the results?

Nexus 7 beats the iPad Air. I need an iPad Air. Here no sale before mid November or December.

then why are you here?

On a side note, I hate what XDA has turned into. What's the point of this thread exactly?

The iPad air, is shown to give you more oxygen when your in an area with no trees. This really makes it a winner! I vote iPad Air!

This is a very subjective statement.. Maybe for you the Nexus is better, for others maybe the Air.
Hence my personal opinion, and this might not be yours at all, that such comparisons (and discussions what is better etc) are non-sense as both devices might have different target groups as well. Both devices are/will be very good for its respective user/target group.
But please go ahead and check for yourself which one is better for you

The Air is flawless! The Nexus 7 cannot compare to it, but we don't know what Google's plans are to compete with the Air. As of now, the Air is most definitely a winner! I have all three Nexus 7, Nexus 7 (2013), and Air...the Air hands down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

iOS doesn't suck. Android sucks. This is all personal preference not a universal fact.
I have an iPhone 4 and Nexus 7 2013 LTE 4G and prefer iOS. I will probably get an iPad Mini 2 with Retina Display and sell my N7 (if there is a Jailbreak)

Opinions are great things to have right?
Personally I like iOS and Android equally. they both do what they do well and have their own problems, but saying one sucks over the other usually means you're putting a little too much of your life into things that don't matter to you. go drink some hot tea and rest your feet. Don't worry about Operating Systems.

I'm kinda wanting to have them both. I just need to find a place to fit the Mini in my house to make it worth buying.

Im thinking an Android phone combined with an iOS tablet is a good combination since you get the best of both ecosystems.
Unless Google comes and blows everyone away with the new nexus 10, then I'll be getting the nexus 10.

The nexus s and ice cream.

Calm down kids. Before you go nuts this post is for pure speculation of the nexus s and how it will perform with ice cream sammich. Now that the next major update will support full hardware acceleration (..finally) I'm wondering what I call the king of the single core world will perform like. I feel like once it drops we will finally see what the hummingbird+vr540 combo can fully achieve. I'm excited. Hopefully Google won't screw us over and keep ice cream from us to glorify the nexus prime.
Cheers.

No worries you'll have ICS by Q2/12. On hte other hand Google said that one of the main features (yet UNannounced) will not be in ICS, maybe it's hardware accelleration.
Actually we will have ics the moment the source is released. (As long as android repos are back up by then!)

As much as I detest Apple, I would never destroy any of their products. One less phone on the market -> one more customer in their stores -> more money in their pockets.
Sell it on eBay, that way you get money, and they don't.

Yeah like IOS4 on the 3G... whats for sure is that Apple is not good at taking care of even 2 year old phones and they do a good job of making the old phone look like crap when they release a new one.

They only do so to cripple older iPhones so the new one seems that much better to the isheep. Think about it. The 3gs and the i4 rock the same gpu and 200mhz difference clock speed on the cpus. Yet ios 4 runs like crap on the 3gs. The os still doesnt support true multitasking so what is really slowing down the 3gs compared to the i4. Some missing features and what I think is imposed sluggishness make the phone look that much worse to the i4. I had a 3gs. I was part if the iherd until I got fed up and got my epic. ****, I bet the hero can run ios 4 damn well.

More ram and a faster processor isn't a reasonable explanation as to why ios doesn't run well enough on the 3gs when Ios is very simple and isn't CPU intensive. Maybe whole running certain apps yes. But trust me when I tell you the 3gs was good enough to run ios 4 with no issues whatsoever.

Apple managed to put worse screen than Nexus 7 to 130$ more expensive tablet.
Resolution is probably one of the most important things on relatively larger screens. So answer is simple.
Unless you have some sort of strong attachment to iOS, these two tablets aren't even in the same league.

[Q] Switching to Android

Hi I have finally grown sick of iOS after owning iPhone's for the past 3 years, and I need advice. Should I use the "pure" Nexus phone or should I use a phone with a manufacture skin? Will I have a better experience with pure android or an overlayed one?
Only you can answer that.
I would suggest you sending as much time with each device of your interest in the stores as possible and go from there.
Obviously the n4 will be hard to get a feel for as its not just able to be held in stores, already in my area, so a gnex will get you a good feel for vanilla android.

Unfortunately neither the 4 or the Gn are available in store in New Zealand( where I live) although I have grown used to instant software updates on my iPhone so maybe Nexus is the best device for me?
Part of that will depend on who majes the phone, I think.
For instance, my experience with Samsung's touchwiz has been only passable--even on jellybean. But even still, I've vastly improved that by the use of custom launchers; Nova being my go to option.
Additionally, if u like to tinker a bit you can always root your device and get a more vanilla experience.
Cheers.

Taking a phone well known by a community gives you a possibility to try nexus experience with CyanogenMod by custom flashing, and the experience is hair close to that on nexus.
But nexus device gets update first, while community spends some time on porting those.

I came from many iPhones to android and my first android phone was an HTC with sense. I HATED sense... It was bulky, it slowed down the phone and it looked like crap. When I rooted the phone and threw on an AOSP rom, I was much happier. The feel is simpler and everything runs smoother. Now with the N4, I am extremely happy with it.
You should still try out some other skins at your local mobile store, buy my vote would be the N4.

I came from the iPhone as well after using it for about 3 years as well. At the time, to me at least, Apple was definitely rocking it and delivered. For me though now, it's been getting boring and I've been wanting to switch to an Android phone for the last year or so, but I wanted that Pure Google experience, but I honestly thought that the Galaxy Nexus was kinda meh. But now with the Nexus 4, you get a great price, a phone of great build and quality, great specs (the best at the moment) and let us not forget that pure Google experience! There has never been a better time to hop over to Android. I was honestly considering a Note II on T-Mobile, but I really dislike carrier updates, to me they feel very slow and you wont always exactly get them. For me the Nexus 4 is the way to go. I still have a Macbook Pro and an iPad still from my old fanboy days though haha, but now I just use what's best regardless. I do want a Nexus 10' but I think I'll stick with my iPad and Macbook Pro for educational purposes in the meantime.

Stock Jellybean experience is still light years ahead of what you have been used to with the "list of icons" UI that iOS has.
I wouldn't think two seconds about that aspect. What I would consider, coming from Apple, is the upgrade experience. When Apple and Google announce the latest stuff, it's only natural that as a end-user you want it NOW. Only Nexus delivers this promise, the Apple-like upgrade experience.
I would instantly rule out anything but a Nexus, when coming from iOS.

That's very true and another good point that I had forgotten to mention. Thanks for pointing it out. Upgrades, upgrades, upgrades. One of the main reasons I stayed with Apple for quite a while was the level of support and OS upgrades they provided, my previously retired iPhone 3Gs was from 09', yet it was able to run the latest iOS version. No other Android phone is exactly able to do that unless you root or get a custom ported ROM with the exception of the Nexus line sort of. The Nexus like you've said is a no-brainer and perhaps the only phone I'd ever consider because of the support and updates I'd get. Therefore for someone to come from iOS like OP, the Nexus is definitely your number one choice,

I suggest you should get a HTC one x, HTC one x +, or a pure android such as the N4 (nexus 4). I recommend you should do phone comparisons using gsmarena or phonearena.
I suggested HTC because it has a beautiful interface. Also, if you want a 5 inch display phone from HTC, I would say get the DNA (Verizon version) or HTC deluxe/DLX (international version)... The international version is not out yet.

The Sense GUI in my opinion isn't exactly very good for an enthusiast/power user who wants the most out of his or her phone. For the average Joe, sure it is nice and simple to use. But for those who want performance and what not, they'd still have to run the stock Android on it just to make the most use of their phone because Sense GUI is pretty RAM-hungry and uses quite a bit of resources. It is nice, don't get me wrong, but stock Android is just as nice too.

I had a Note 2 for a month, and why did I return it because of the screen. AMOLED is nice for blacks and such but having had a One X as my primary phone I'm just in love with IPS display. Much sharper overall, crisp text, natural colours, the N4 screen is on par with the One X. But I think the One X screen edges the N4 slightly. But would be happy with either.
I'm quite liking the N4, using stock Android is different to using a skinned version.
Both are good phones regardless, go for whatever your needs are.
Trade? Yes, add cash? No.
I can easily buy another n4, but am unwilling to shell out $650 for a note 2

2. A very small percentage of users on the Nexus 4 subforum stick with stock.
3. There are many threads already comparing the Note 2 and the N4. In fact, there's a ton of threads criticizing the N4 and comparing it to pretty much every flagship phone out.
4. You haven't been gentlemanly and if you showed some manners, you'd get a more genial response. Remember that you came into our forum. Everyone here clearly is sticking with their N4.

Should I get the Nexus 4

I sold my old gnex to buy the new nexus 4 but when the nexus 4 came out I couldn't buy it and spent my money on something else. I have the money now but more high-end phones are coming out. Should I wait or the nexus 4 will be good for this year?

If you wait, you will wait forever. Technology gets better by the day. Quite literally. For me, it's simple. I wouldn't buy anything else except for a Nexus device (or something similar). I bought the Nexus S, used it for two years, and now I bought the Nexus 4. I could wait another year for the next Nexus (or maybe the X phone from Motorola), but I'm not gonna. The Nexus 4 is very, VERY cheap for what it can. Heck, the Galaxy Nexus costs the same. And you pay twice as much for the iPhone 5. You could argue that the iPhone 5 is better (I don't think that, but it's not unreasonable if you do), but still... it's not nearly worth twice as much. The same goes for other phones that are 1.5x or 2x as expensive as the N4.
If I had the Gnex, I wouldn't have bought the N4. But since you already did; go for the N4.

You're right. That's what I wanted to hear, some motivation. Thanks and I agree with you that the iPhone is not better than the N4 considering factors that you mentioned above.

It's sad to see posts just like this when people purposely post a new thread just so they feel better about themselves and their purchase. It's like walking in a apple store asking, should I buy a iphone 5? All you're going to get are biased posts.
It's your money, spend it how you like based on your own conclusions and not others

Yes we can. If OP is so undecided about it they can just donate the money to ME and I'll spend it accordingly.
PS: So tired of these threads... if only I was a moderator.

Haha that's funny, same here man. There's always like three posts like this each day. It's a phone, the longer you wait, the better there'll be. In the end, Nexus devices have a longer life span.
Have fun buying that galaxy s3 running 4.1 still and getting the update six months later. Waiting for someone to say oh flash a rom, let's assume flashing wasn't possible. You get my drift.

You're right. It has a name. The opposite of buyer's remorse.
But that doesn't mean that we can't name some good reason to buy the Nexus 4. The price, for example, is a very good reason. In the end, he probably already made a decision.

There's a thousand posts hi-liting the GOOD and BAD features of this phone already. The search function is a very useful tool.

It does have a name, it's called google search and he should use it. There are already a bunch of threads related to this topic and he should use it. I could make this same exact post on the s3 forums and link it here to show you that the posts we make are biased towards Nexus 4.
I'm not here to beg someone to get the phone. If they want the phone then get it, not because we as user's told him to because we want more people to have a n4

If I had the choice to buy it again I wouldn't.
Why, because I already bought one of course...
Lol.

Buy it if you want. It doesn't really matter, all the posts here are going to be biased. If you posted on the HTC one forum, they'll tell you to get that phone over n4 blah blah blah.
Do what makes you happy and conclude on your own thoughts. Not to satisfy other people.

When the Nexus 4 first launched... it was pretty obvious there wouldn't be another Nexus phone for a good while. Now, there's talk of the Nexus 5, and we have no idea what'll be announced at I/O, and there's talk of something else being released around October/November this year.
If you have patience, I'd wait to see what'll be announced at I/O. I doubt a new phone will be announced, but who knows. If you have even greater patience, you could wait until Oct/Nov. If you believe you can resell the device close to what you bought it for, buy the N4 now, and then decide on if you want to resell it if a new Nexus phone is announced at either points in time.
I have no patience, but believe I can resell my N4 if need-be. I don't think a phone will be announced at I/O, so I bought a N4 yesterday
I remember buying my 8GB Nexus 7, and a few weeks later, it got discontinued, with the 16GB taking its place for the same price. Was really disappointed, but still kept my N7 and enjoyed it.
As far as I concerned, if it ain't a Nexus device it ain't worth buying unless the manufacturers wake up and start offering some vanilla goodness along with their proprietary crap!

Get while it's still the hottest bad boy device around!
at least wait until 5/15 for google io. Pretty strong rumors it will at least come with a minor update for LTE and storage upgrade. Maybe even N5 will be released. Buying an android 6months after release for the same price is usually a bad idea.
Yeah I'm glad I got the nexus 4. It meets my needs and it's got pure android which I love
