[Q] Alternatives to Default/Stock Camera App? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

do you guys use alternatives to the stock Camera?
been thinking of trying Focal but just wanted to get a sense of what else do you guys use
(assuming that there's always a better alternative to the Samsung apps)

I'd like to find a camera that supports video at 60fps. Focal has a setting but it does not work.
Stock camera does not remember the 60 fps setting for me. I have to set it every time I open the cam :_(

guess I should really try it out.
hmm does it still allow 4K recording etc?
I just want something that works...
the stock Camera app tends to cause 100% brightness upon launch

Stock camera alternative for CM12?

Is there any camera app for CM12? like in touchwiz, i mean more advance than the CM camera app??!!
Google play is the place to try. Maybe google search for "the best camera".
There are lots of Top 10's about those kind of things.
Looking for an answer as well. What I'm really looking for is a camera app that can match the night mode of the touchwiz camera.
if i found great camera app, it will for sure missing the camcorder!!

Camera FV-5 And Cinema FV-5.
but it's a paid app. you know what to do already. (if you know what i mean)
but it has no front camera feature. so just use the normal aosp camera for front cam features.
that's what i'm using when i'm on AOSP Builds such as CM11,CM12,Carbon Rom etc.... :good:
good luck
Can anyone who's using GPE by Danvdh tell me how the OnePlus One camera app is compared to the Motorola and Google Camera? I always wondered and now I won't have to start a new thread

Found a really promising camera alternative for low light photography. App is called "A better camera."
What I really missed though is the touch to focus feature from the TW Camera in night mode. So far, every app I've tried won't work with touch to focus in night mode.

XCam by xdabbeb (originally for G3 works for the Stylo)

Hi everyone.
Thanks to an user from Android forums find out that this particular app works nicely with our LG Stylo , i have notice pictures are better than the Native cam app installed on this device.
You can download the LOLLIPOP ..APK from this Thread and thank you @xdabbeb for this amazing camera software.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/app-xcam-lg-v5-1-0-t2873604
You guys can give it a shot and tell us here what you thing about it if is Better than the native lg cam app or non at all.
some LOW-light and Night Picture test using XCam
Thanks you for posting this. I love the phone, but I really hate the camera. This app makes the pictures come out so much more clear.
Edit:
I just noticed the front camera only goes to 2m. I thought It was supposed to be a 5m camera?

LoL sorry ihad the front camera instead and 1080p 60fps which is slow-motion isn't available LoL, yeah i just did a recorded test using 1080p 60fps (Slow-Motion) and records pretty well, i really don't recommend record video using 60fps unless you are playing to playback at slower rate (24fps or 30fps) for a slow motion effect.

Huawei mate s or p8 camera port

hey I wondering if it is possible to port the good camera from Huawei mate s or Huawei p8 , even honor 7 . they are the same with lot of good functions. well nexus 6p is a Huawei device too, do u think it is possible ?
It likely uses the EMUI framework so I doubt it. The Google camera app is great and there are other options on the play store if you don't like the stock one
y cant we have few features like using the fingerprint sensor for taking selfie or scrolling? No such app?

Its a Nexus (AOSP based)not a bloated EMUI phone. That's why it doesnt have those bloated features, nor does it need them. I never take 'selfies' or even use the FFC so it's not important to have for me. You have to remember that this is a Nexus not a skinned UI phone so it only has the bare minimum in terms of software features. If it had Huaweis normal UI it would be slower and the phone would be ruined.

Sorry m8 but the stock camera app sucks. No ISO, no Sutter speed, no manual focus, nothing. Fv-5 is great but it needs some bug fixing cuz sometimes is just wont focus and won't capture at all.

None of that is really required on a phone. The stock camera app works great, and doesn't clutter things up with necessary features. I use my DSLR frequently in manual mode which serves a purpose for a real camera; phones don't need manual adjustments especially not the 6P. Every picture I've taken has come out perfectly the first time I took it. I don't need to play with settings like I did on my LG G3, Nexus 6, or S5.

I don't know about you but I really miss the HTC camera app. Editing the photos in real time using the MF, SP, and ISO can give you the image your looking for. Nevertheless, even on auto setting on FV-5 it takes better photos then the stock camera app on the 6p. For me it always seems to be over exposed and washed out.

Camera Mod?

Is anyone planning to make a camera mod for this phone?
The camera app itself is great, but I really want to have access to a denoise/noise reduction setting, if possible. It bothers me how much noise reduction this phone applies, and I'd love to be able to at least disable it, if not adjust its intensity.
I honestly have no idea how I could go about making my own, since I have no experience there, so I figured I'd ask if someone with experience is thinking about making something.

I tried my usual choices: FV-5, Open, Google, but none removed the reduction.
Shoot RAW. That removes the noise reduction and everything else and then you can try to apply on your own. So far, I haven't seen any decent noise reduction apps though.

RAW is great and all, but it's really inconvenient. I have it turned on, but I don't want to have to pull the file up in Lightroom to edit every time I take a photo.

I did. Noise reduction persists.
I'm not really looking for an alternative. I'm fine waiting; I'm fine if I have to live with the noise reduction. My question was just if someone is planning to make a mod.

Have you found a way to tweak the noise reduction applied in the stock camera? It's driving me nuts - the pictures are less sharp than my LG G4.
Thanks

I can look into the camera app to see if maybe there's some multiplier it's using for NR (maybe even add an option to set in Settings.Global), but I don't know how successful I'll be.

That would be awesome. I'm trying other apps but the results aren't better than the stock camera - most of them look a little worse. Maybe it's the sensor that is not that great.

Have tried a lot of camera apps with no success. They all have some excessive noise reduction applied. I've already tried open camera - it doesn't seem to make a great difference.
Maybe the noise reduction is applied at kernel or camera libraries level.

Third Party Camera Apps

I know camera performance when using a custom ROM is worse than when using the stock ROM partly because the stock camera app has been optimised to the hardware on the phone. However, is there any difference in image quality from photos when using a third party camera app on a stock ROM, to using the same app on a custom ROM?

I'm well aware of Camera FV-5.
The question I was asking was if Camera FV-5 (or any third party app) works better on a stock ROM than a custom ROM (or is it's image quality the same; no matter what ROM is used)?

It'll always be better on stock..
But to be honest besides 60fps video the images aren't dissimilar.

Honestly haven't noticed mate. I'm about to revert back to pure fusion as the battery on no limits in comparison is huge, I've gone from 10 hours screen on time to 6 with no limits..
Same apps, same options, same theme, thought stock-ish would be massively superior in terms of battery performance? Lol it's not..anyway, off topic
