Having recently bought my son a Nintendo DS, I noted that in the accessory pack I got with it, it came with 2 screen protectors that are semi-rigid. They're quite a bit thicker than one that shipped with my phone, and don't flex and bend like thin paper. They also don't seem to affect sensitivity of the touch screen in any way, as well as being perfectly sized to the screens and were invisible once fitted.
Are there similar protectors for the TyTn 2? I'd love such a protector as it'd be FAR easier to fit, and provide much better protection to the screen.
Rigid Screen Protectors
I have come across these. The ones I tried were made by "Martin Fields" product number MFOP-HTCTyTN-T
A right bloody bastard to fit as they are very slighty oversized. Perhaps this is done purposly so the protector fits into the gap around the edges of the screen?
Very clear and reasonably priced compared to the OEM product. They do work extremely well (once fitted).

Well, from the video, the invisibleShield isn't the slightest bit rigid, though if it lives up to its claims, that wouldn't matter. I ordered a Martin Fields one earlier so I'll see how good that is.
It's not just the rigidity for protection though. A rigid protector will be a LOT easier to fit...
Beleave me, MF is rigid. And yes, it is easy to install but remember to clean the surface of the screen. This part is very important. If you do it right, it will install in less than 30 seconds and you will struggle to see the difference between no protector and MF.
Oh I know that. I'll be cleaning it very carefully and making sure there's no dust about when I fit it! Don't want dust under the thing!
Just wish it'd hurry up and arrive!

The boxwave protectors are much thicker than average ones, are washable, and work great. They are about as thick as the psp protectors, e.g. more like a hard plastic sheet, I'm not sure what the ds ones are like.

FYI, a warning this could break your Tilt!!!!
This shield rocks. However it's a risk for the Tilt. You have to apply water to the back of the protector to get the bubbles out. I applied water, shook the excess water off before applying.... and stuck it on.
I used the included squeegee to get the excess water out of the shield along with the bubles. I wiped extra water away. Next day, my screen was dead (colors were washed out and glitches). Apparently during the squeegee process water slipped between the screen surface and the edge of the bezel around the screen, and in to the phone, and got under the LCD plastic into the LCD itself.
I do use this product on my $2700 SLR camera. There's no bezel on the LCD so the squeegee'd water comes right off, and won't get in the camera.
Beware. I had to get a new Tilt because of this, and it'll be a cold day in hell I use this product on any item with a bezel where water can seep in.

Oh, and +1 for Martin Fields.
My phone broke, but I had insurance on it (not from phone company but through homeowner's via a personal property rider), and mycellularrepair.com was able to replace the LCD for $200. Also, never buy that phone company insurance. Personal property rider is the way to go. It was just pennies a year for ~$500 of coverage for the phone. NO DEDUCTIBLE! So I paid nothing to have my phone fixed.

Interesting - Are you really that concerned about a product which is relatively cheap compared to the amount of time use you get out of it? Forget washing it off. Just put another one on - a CLEAN NEW one. If they last a long time (like in most cases a year or more), who cares that you have to spend around $20 to get a replacement. If they stopped making them altogether or they cost a ridiculous amount of money (for plastic, ridiculous. For peace of mind, priceless), then yeah, I would wash and rewash the screen to save money.
And the idea is NOT to squeegee the WATER bubbles out to the sides. They will evaporate on their own given some time. The idea IS to squeegee the AIR bubbles out to the sides and also to take extra great care when doing this procedure. You wash it off so that it restores some of the tackiness on the film. You can get most of the water off by blowing or using a can of compressed air, THEN put it on. You shouldn't have that much water under your film if you take care when doing it.
I am sorry about your tilt. That really sucks. If I were you, I would just put a BRAND NEW one on next time and forget about washing it off.

I need one of these too, recently the digitizer for the touch screen on my phone cracked. They are charging me 50$ for the screen and 40$ for labor. My question would be, would this rigid screen have prevented my digitizer from breaking? If it would then id buy it in a second.

I just got a couple of them for my phone. They're definitely more rigid than some of the others, but I put it on a clean screen & can barely tell I have one on.
Stylus slides smoothly across it, no visible scratching at all (unlike the OEM one that marked easily), & it's also pretty smooth for finger usage too.
Had to wait a week for them to ship via expansys-usa, but worth the wait.

Nothing is impossible. I have no clue how I personally haven't scratched mine. Bezel is filled with nicks but glass is fine. I wonder if you could use a small glass repair kit or something to fill it

i've just put a cheapo screen protector on it that came with a case i bought. i hadn't bothered before, thinking that the glass was unscratchable. will source a higher quality one later.
let this be a cautionary tale to others -- especially if your kids are using yours.

It's probably from a grain of sand. Since that's one of the materials used to make glass...it will definitely scratch it.
I'd like to see some one take sand paper to the screen instead of keys and knives...that would be hilarious!
So basically...double check that the cloth you are using is free of Debris and I guess maybe blow some air on the screen first to get rid of any grainy particles?
Not as rugged as a Pantech Element, but mine has nicks on the bezel also. I put a nice screen protector on mine knowing that Im more capable than a kid of scratching it! You should upload pics of it so we can all get quezzy!

Mine has scratches too, a lot small scratches on the bezel and a big one in the center. The big one is probably when the tablet was laying screen bottom on table with a lot of sugar and bread crumbs (I know, they shouldn't scratch gorilla glass). I just bought a matte protector and my screen doesn't look like a mirror anymore, scratches are almost invisible after that. It's also quite ugly, but more usefull than the shiny glass.

the matte protector i have now fitted has made my scratch completely invisible, at the expense of the screen being not so vivid; masks fingerprints too. i am going to leave it on for the present.

mine came as a freebie with a case i bought on ebay (item # 220937432912 ).
i messed up putting it on (bubbles) and have another on order. i'll let you know how the replacement works out when it arrives.

Mine is a local brand, but probably it's some rebranded cheap protector from China. Still, it looks almost exactly like matte LCD screen. It doesn't have glue - from what I read you should avoid the ones that use glue.

quick update:
i removed my matt screen protector and replaced it with a clear (glossy) one. the new one, while it shows more fingerprints and reflections than the matt one, is preferable to me as the display is so much brighter and more vibrant. the matt one seemed 50% dimmer. the clear one was also easier to fit without bubbling (although it still took me 3 tries!). the brand i used was ebay # 370581513587.
After not being able to find a new glass, I did some research and "fixed" my scratched screen.
Gorilla Glass is an aluminium silicate glass. There is a product by 3M called "Perfect-it III Trizact Machine Glaze" (or 3M product no. 06070 if you prefer) that contains an aluminum silicate clay polishing compound. Its expensive! I got it at NAPA, quart-size bottle costs about $65. Probably can be found online for cheaper. Its intended purpose is removing extremely fine swirl marks from high-gloss auto finishes.. something the high-end auto detailer would use on a Ferrari or something.
Fisrt i tried by hand, polishing the screen with a polishing cloth coated in the polishing compound. This worked just fine for some of the very fine scratches, but took more effort than i figured.
I eventually switched to a very soft, small polishing wheel from a Dremel polishing kit. About 1.5-2" diameter. Used a variable speed drill at a slow-to-moderate speed, I carefully buffed the screen over the scratched areas, moving in small circles over the scratches for 45 seconds to a minute with a heavy coating of the 3M compound.
In the end it worked out pretty good! Most of the scratches are totally gone, and the worst of them is barely visible now and could probably be eliminated like the rest if i repeated the process a couple more times.
I hope this info helps. Just be careful, if you don't have any experience doing this kind of thing you can easily make your screen much worse. I practiced on my old and now retired Droid Eris which also sports Gorilla Glass before I attempted to touch my precious TF101.

Good info, thanks! Glad to hear theres a polish out there to fix the inevitable scratch.
I smashed the screen on my Tab a few weeks back. While I didn't take a video of the replacement, here are some notes and tips on my experience:
If the glass is cracked but you can still see the display fine (i.e. no rainbow or black ink spills) then it is just your digitizer that is broken. Your top priority at this point is to not break the LCD because the digitizer is relatively cheap (~$35 shipped from China, $60 from the US). This also goes for the picture being fine but the touch not working at all.
Buy a replacement digitizer. I got mine from ebay ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/270938561127 ).
Gather tools:
A clean towel to use for your work area to prevent scratches and scuffs
A little plastic prying tool (likely to come with your ebay order)
A thin and sharp utility knife/razor
A three prong screwdriver. The seller I used sent a few other screwdrivers but not the three prong one. I used one I got from a Nintendo DS repair a while back.
A heat gun will make this a lot easier. I guess a hair blow-dryer might work in a pinch.
I did not see any good videos for the disassembly. The one I watched ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thTt6G27NV8 ) really screwed me over because it didn't show removing two screws first.
Here are my written steps for replacement:
Use a needle to pry out the two caps on either side of the USB charging port
Use the three prong screwdriver to remove those two screws
Insert the pry on the bottom middle between the plastic frame and the glass. Push down firmly so it wedges in up to the L shape.
Slide the pry along from the middle to either end and around the corner. You will feel the frame pop away from the innards.
Continue working the bottom half of the frame apart until you can insert tweezers or something else under the unit and lift it up and out of the frame.
Be careful to lift the bottom half then pull it out away from the top. Otherwise, you will crack the audio port which extends from the unit and fits into the hole in the top of the frame.
Set aside the frame and place the unit on a clean towel. If you have a broken screen, you are going to be dealing with lots of tiny slivers of broken glass.
On the circuitry side of the unit, you will see three big flat ribbon cables. The middle one is the digitizer. Use tweezers or the pry to *gently* lift up the tan colored plastic locking hinge on the far side (opposite the cable). It will pop up and the cable will easily slide out. Go very slow and carefully here. Don't mess with the black plastic because it will chip right off.
Now comes the painful part. Removing the old digitizer. Take a cigarette break if you need one. Maybe a Valium. Basically, almost all of the black trim part of the glass is thick strong glue binding it to the unit. You need to separate this glue to be able to peel the glass digitizer away.
Hold the unit upright with one hand and use the heat gun to loosen up the glue holding the digitizer to the unit. Run it along one edge for less than a minute until the glass is a little too hot to touch.
Quickly insert the razor as close to the glass as you can and about 6 centimeters in. Slide it along the side that you heated. Don't make any prying motions or you'll just crack the glass more.
Continue with the remaining three edges. Heat then separate. You may not make much progress the first time around, but by the second time, you should see the glass starting to peel away. It took me about 5 to 10 minutes per edge and it is grueling work.
Once you can safely peel the entire glass digitizer away from the unit, use the razor to lift up and peel off any of the flat black tape/glue that was left behind. Most of the unit where the glue goes is gray. On the sides there are two parts where you see black plastic. It is okay to leave glue residue as long as it isn't bunched up.
Vacuum up any stray glass slivers. Make sure you set aside tools screws and screw-hole-plugs before vacuuming.
Installing the new digitizer
Use an LCD spray and cleaning cloth to clean your LCD. Don't leave any dust or fingerprints as it will look bad once everything is put back together.
Remove the back covering of your replacement digitizer revealing the glue. Obviously, try not to touch the glue.
Align the digitizer above the unit, make sure the camera hole is on the correct side. Very slowly lower it down and try to have it perfectly in alignment when it touches. You will be able to nudge it a tiny bit, but the glue is strong and if you get it crooked, you are going to have to try to quickly lift it back up without cracking your new digitizer.
Once you have it in place, remove the front protective film and free the new cable. Wrap the cable around to the back and very gently insert it between the contacts then push the locking hinge down.
Testing and reassembly
Power it on and see if it works. Just push down the little metal bump closest to the edge where the power button would be on the frame.
When happy with the test, turn it off again and hold the unit above the frame.
Check the orientation then insert the top part first to fit the audio port into the hole. Line up the rest and then push down on all the edges to snap it into place.
Breathe a deep sigh of relief.
Appreciate the time you put into this, hopefully I never end up in a similar situation.

Its really easy to replace the digitiser on WiFi version. Use Stanley knife and hair dryer to loosen it off and remove middle flex cable. Videos on youtube

They are covered by plugs on either side of the charge port. Gotta pry the plugs out first.

One tip: be really careful not to touch the inside surface of the glass. I ended up with a fingerprint on the inside that drives me nuts every time I clean the screen. Wear gloves if you've got them.
Otherwise it was no sweat. I used this as a guide but with a hair dryer instead of a heat gun.

I really found this post very helpful, but I do have one question. What if when I was trying to pry the tab up to pull out the digitizer, I cracked the black plactic on the other side. Would this cause the new digitizer not to work when I finished replacing everything and put it back together?

Just when I thought I knew the difference between the LCD and the digitizer I read your post. You said if the glass is cracked but you can see the display just fine the digitizer is broken. When you say "see the display fine" I presume when the device is on you can see whatever it should be showing? Correct me if I am wrong. Silly me I would have thought if the glass was cracked you need the LCD. Are the glass, LCD and digitizer 3 separate parts?
Anyway on my Note 10.1 2014 edition the display suddenly went black while I was using it. All indications are the device is working because I hear notifications if I sent email to one of the accounts registered on the device. Given this limited info which part(s) do I need. The glass is pristine in that there are no cracks or scratches. Do I need the digitizer, lcd or both? How can I determine what I need for sure?

The digitizer is the touch sensitive glass, the LCD is under that and it makes the pictures.
If you crack or damage the LCD, you will frequently see something that looks like an ink spill or a rainbow pattern.
If you crack or damage the digitizer, you can still see pictures fine, but some or all of it might no longer respond to touch.
In your case, it sounds like your LCD is not working, but unfortunately it is hard to say whether that is the only part that stopped working since it wasn't due to damage to the screen.

Thank you for the information. I agree there is no telling what might have caused the problem especially given some other problems that proceeded this. I had recently replaced the battery and even with the new one it was draining way too quickly. I concluded it might be the ROM I was running had become corrupted because Google services was using the lions share of the battery instead of the screen. I downloaded and installed a factory Lolipop image and it was running fine for about half a day when the wife started playing around with live wallpapers we had never tried when it went black.
At this point I am reluctant to spend $ replacing the Lcd given it might be something else altogether.

Accepting offers on my 32GB Note 10.1 2014 edition. As described above the display has gone dark but system is otherwise working fine. Includes very nice MoKo Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard Cover Case and the tablet's battery is new.

Lol... I did all of this last month. A bloody PITA to clean and remove all the glass shards (took me 2 hours just to clear up all the sharp shards of glass). Yes there is a layer of glue (it's acually some sort of silicone rubber) that you need to put on. My advice? I used the Selley's All Clear Multipurpose Co-Polymer Sealant, so it's crystal clear and not translucent as some other clear RTV Silicone. Also remember to use some microfiber cloth to clean the surface of the LCD and your digitizer before you seal it, if not, some dust/debris might get caught inside!
You need to put this layer of silicone because moisture will seep in and cloud up your screen, if you did not!
Again, if you want to save a good amount of money and your LCD is not cracked, AND you can DIY, by all means do this!

The shottyness was because everyone on the damn internet told me it wasn't going to work lol. If I did it now I would be MUCH more careful. I was going to send the device out for insurance anyway so I igured I would just try.

If you're talking about thu wire, taht is for the left and right buttons
It's good to see you can replace the lens without replacing the digitizer and screen. I broke my lens around 1 month after buying my S3. I live in Singapore. Samsung replaced the front of the phone for $137 SGD (~$111 USD).
If you are worried about this happening just get a squaretrade warranty with the accidental damage protection vs. having to DIY.

If you got the S7 Edge then this seller on ALi has the proper glass for your phone as well. In any case I have seen enough videos of how to apply this protector that I am now persuaded that this is indeed the ultimate screen protector for edge phones, the only thing that is to be found out, would be the quality of the glass it self.. AKA, oleopathic coating, strength and etc. These things are important as these days 90% of Chinese tempered glass has no oleopathic coating and is not even real tempered glass, it is just a cheap gimmic that breaks easy as F***. So hopefully since this whole UV glue is a next level kinda thing, the quality might still be on the high.
When mine arrives I will make a video of the installation and post it here for you guys with my comments.

So the glass i ordered arrived yesterday. Photos below. On the 1st glance, the glass appears to be of rather good quality and it seems to have a real oleopathic coating against fingerprints, which is quite rare these days with Chinese tempered glass.
As promissed i will make a video of how i apply it and post it here.

I ordered this for my S9 plus. It worked very well. It doesn't come with an install kit to balance the dispersement of the liquid, so when I installed it I missed a small edge and I installed it a little to low on the phone so my case would move it. So I removed it.
However I would recommend this product as a good alternative to the more expensive model.
Ok so LONG post, but absolutely necessary to read if you consider using this type of screen protection. My glass arrived 2 days ago and I applied it today. It is crystal clear and the visibility is at its best, touch sensitivity has not been affected at all. It is pleasant to the touch and does not feel like crappy tempered glass. (pics attached)
I had promised that I will upload a video but I did not think it trough and on the 8th minute the memory on my backup camera finished, so without my realization it turned off.
Below however are a few notes that are important and I realized it while shaking above the phone and overcoming them
1. Make sure to put a dust sticker on the TOP speaker in case some glue decides to enter there..
2. Put dust stickers above the buttons, all of them, so in case some glue leaks out it will not go inside the buttons.
3. From the place i ordered on Aliexpress, the glue that arrived may have been about 10%- 15% more than necessary in the tube, so i got leaks on the sides of the phone once the glue spread all over, I cleaned it with a napkin, it is possible that it leaked as I may have mistakenly applied a slight pressure on the glass while I placed it. I recommend that once you release all the glue from the black non-transparent bottle, you can squeeze it and then suck up about 10 15% of the glue that is on top of your screen.
4. Make sure before you start the whole procedure, to turn your phone off.
5. Do it on a FLAT surface because the glue may start moving from the middle of the phone towards the sides.
6. If you order from the same seller I did, your lamp would likely have a pre-set timer, as mine apparently does. In this case, the lamp will turn off every 45 seconds approx, that signals that you should move it on the next area (Bottom, middle, top) of the screen.
7. I would recommend that once you place the glass on top of the glue and let it spread, DO NOT freak out if it leaks. Turn on the lamp, and move it on top of the screen from top to bottom for about 40 seconds so the glue hardens just a little. Then with a napkin gently absorb the leaked glue.
8. Make sure you see at least 5-6 videos of other guys doing it so you can be best prepared.
Overall, I think it is a good option for screen protection, much better than all the NON-FULL GLUE alternatives. Aka, protectors with glue only on the sides of the glass only and not in the middle. It is tricky to apply but once you are done you will be glad you went for it. I am not sure if it is any different than the more expensive versions others people are talking about, I suspect that it is plain re-branding. The more expensive ones just come with a different brand logo, better advertisement and more promises. But, same thing in reality. At least in my case, I paid about 15$ and got 2 glasses, 2 glues, and a good UV lamp.
Quick summary: Find a dust-free flat surface with good light, clean screen, apply stickers to speaker, and all holes and buttons, gently remove any additional dust particles from screen,apply glue to middle of screen, gently place glass on top and DO NOT apply pressure, if it is not too straight you can move it a bit, If any leaks, apply UV light for about 40 seconds up and down, gently clean leaks, apply UV light for 45 seconds for 3 more rounds. At the end you may even do one more 45 second round top to bottom as I did.
Enjoy.
EDIT: After applying it the whole thing, the glue may still remain slightly sticky on the corners, so that may allow extra dust to stick on it. However, If you can, leave the phone under the sun for 10 minutes, and the glue will dry to the full, then it would be easy do fully clean the corners with your nail or some non dusty cloth. Just do not put too much pressure with your nail as you may raise the glass and allow a bubble to form.

It should be... I don't see why not. The one i ordered covers most of the screen but leaves quite a bit out as you can see in the pics i posted... and that is considered not too case friendly. However to me it seems pretty compatible with all cases.
But, to be safe you can order the alternative case friendly version of the glass from the same seller. It is smaller and covers even less of the screen. I don't see the harm in getting one and trying it
Received mine today. Took 12 days to reach India. The screen guard is really good,fits perfectly. the glue is little excess so had to clean up a lot. note for next time. However I fixed the glass a little to the lower side so bundled case is almost touching the glass. Don't know in future if it will lift because of that. Overall a fantastic deal.

I received mine yesterday it took about 13 days to get to the EU, and applied it today.
The application when well on the first try,i did watch quite a few tutorials beforehand and that helped alot.
The screen protector is very clear , and you do not notice it at all, it also seems to have some real oleophobic coating.
Tactile responsiveness is on par with what you would get without a screen protector.
All in all a very good alternative to the more expensive competitor you also get two screen protectors and two tubes of glue for the same price.
If you are in the market for a screen protector dont hesitate.

Another positive report here, although I wish I'd been a bit more careful as I have a couple of tiny bubbles near the edge. They only show up on a bright white screen so I may live with them rather than try again with the spare glass & glue.

Does the AliExpress come with a tray to line up the glass? Or does the glass work with the Whitestone tray? If not, how do you get your glass lined up?

The tray you are talking about probably will work. However the standard way to align the glass is by your finger and vision. Just make sure that if you do so, do not press downwards while you are moving and aligning the glass. If you press down, it will push some of the glue out...
