Crazy crazy 3g...help me.

On my s2 when using 3g full bars I get no activity no internet whatsoever, this has been an issue from day one, using stock rom o2 or custom roms. Anybody getting the same problem? And is there a solution?
Ps but as soon as it switches to H, it works fine.

I was working today and using as a hotspot, and I was in area where it was just 3G, with full bars, and could not get on the net.
This is a bit of grrrrr moment. HTC desire no problem at all.
Anybody have any ideas?

have you altered any system settings? Try the SiM card from your HTC Desire.
Finally, try hard reset.

not altered anything . I used my virgin sim on desire and s2(same sim)
And how to hard reset on this thing?

Here are the problems sorted by number of individual posts in descending order:
1) Battery
2) Wi-Fi
3) GPS
4) Sound
5) Camera
6) Screen
7) 2G/3G
While the 2G/3G problems people are experiencing are no doubt real, the magnitude is relatively low. People who changed carriers or used SIM cards from other carriers seemed to have had their problems go away. I know this isn't what you wanted to here but, compared to some of the other problems, this isn't a widespread issue and appears to be carrier/locale specific.

That is NORMAL it means you are in good area where it supports 3.5G / H
so when you use data it uses 3.5G and not 3G. It reverts back to 3G when you are not using the internet. Nothing crazy. It is normal. Search next time.

You are missing the point, in,certain areas where there is NO 3G+, ONLY 3G I get no internet, is this NORMAL too? Read first.

with all respect to all seniors, that is not a simple issue, basically there is no solution till now, some people working on replacements others waiting for cooked roms, i have this issue since two weeks now and i can assure you that a lot have the same issue, more didn't find out yet because simply the issue is unstable data connection which prevent you from using VOIP & Wifi hotspot, when ever the connection is turning from H+ to 3G it drops, anyways some links below having same issue:

I just did some troubleshooting and found out using vodafon qatar sim solved the issue..on Qtel the problem persist.so for me i guess got to wait till SGS2 is launched in the middle east for samsung to update their firmware for carriers here.

I'm in Poland, one carrier's PREpaid didn't work, then another carrier's POSTpaid worked flawlessly, so I got that working carrier's PREpaid and after working initially it stopped now. My question is: do you think the 3g loss might be prepaid/postpaid issue?

I really doubt that it has to do with carriers, the phone's "3G" just doesnt work, it seems to want use HSDPA and up.
They really need to bring out a fix for this.
How long did they take to finally bring this phone out... Still no where near to getting it right. Shame, this could so easily be the best.

After being frustrated by no activity on 3G, I decided to try uskr's data fix. Although skeptical that it would fix anything, I tried it!
Amazingly enough, IT WORKED!
It really did, on one bar of pure 3G I get 0.3 down speed on speedtest on the phone and through hot spot.
The fix involves editing /system/build.prop
I add
ro.ril.enable.dtm=1
ro.ril.gprsclass=12
ro.ril.enable.3g.prefix=1
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=28
ro.ril.hsupa.category=9
ro.ril.hsxpa=3
To the bottom of the file using Root Explorer's text editor, on a rooted SG2.

s4 data connection issue comes from my 9505...

I just brought that phone s4 9505 lte version for 1week ago. And at that time I did not find any issues on my phone. As u know I only checked using wifi and play games. It seems to work well everything. But today I am realized that something wrong in my galaxy s4 particularly when I use data network. The main problem is in the H symbol that always appear in the top of the screen with 2 sides arrow. When I do nothing with my phone or idle for a short while, the data connection suddenly stop working which means u can not browsing at all even making a call and texting. So the only way is to refresh the network or change the mode or restart your phone.
I dont know why it always happen in my phone many times. I have tried to refresh network and change the mode then give back to the wcdma mode. It occurs same issues again after a couple hours. But I did not notice where I use gsm mode.
About my signal is good. No drop signal at all. But I always encounter that problem. Maybe anyone who has the same issue .. plz inform then we can try searching out the solution. Thx

Addition information.. I buy this phone from singapore comes with official local warranty.
Actually. I have not tried to change another provider and I hope this cell is not fault factory.
I will try with different area and provider first then decide possibility

Are you on vodafone? There is quite some discussion going on in german forums where the lte - 3g change seems to be problematic when on vodafone network with the i9505. If so you might want to check forums like android-hilfe.de or so. Btw. Im in switzerland on provider swisscom and have the same problems. Data connections drops completely every few minutes. Very annoing.

Yes I notice in other sub thread there are quite a lots number signal problematic. Yet in my case is different from that case..
I just tested set into wcdma mode along night and until now it still work perfectly. This problem can not be predicted when it will occur. Sometimes I browse internet for 2 hours..afterwards my phone can not be used completely even testing and calling. I hope this is a provider caused.

Sounds like a carrier issue. You could try flashing another radio.

Nothing as in no signal, or the same as before? If it's the same, I would say it is a carrier issue.

I always have H even when I am getting at speedtest a 20+ mbps result.

I have a custom ROM so I have The H+. With The other baseband for example The 0.48 It runs very well. I have maximum strenght of The signal. Thing that I haven't had with The stock baseband. Now it runs better but the signal H doesn't run. I don't want To bring the device at the LG Shop i prefer To resolve myself if The problem is about The software

not a nexus issue itz probably a carrier issue imo...Try changing the carrier

I don't resolve My problem. The Connection is batter but in hspa it doesn't run. Why??? I'm very very bored of this problem. Please help me :'(

Try checking that the apn is correct and untick the set mobile data limit box. Hopefully it isn't a problem with your hsic (high speed internet chip) chip, as I had to get a replacement phone last year due to similar issues (I was unable to get higher than 3mb/s download speeds even though my phone was on hspa).

I call the Lg and they say that it is a problem of the carrier. I have try 2 carriers certainly is the carrier they are dude. I reset the Apn and the problem persist. Do you think that a hard reset resolve?? I don't know what I do I don't want to send the device in assistence

Go to settings/more/mobile networks/network operators, when a list of available networks appear, choose a network different to the one you are on. you should now have no signal whatsoever, then turn the phone off and take the sim out. After half an hour, put the sim back in and turn on phone. Go back to settings/more/mobile networks/network operators and choose the correct network. This should reboot your network settings.

Sorry, but I'm all out of ideas. If wiping everything and going back to stock doesn't help (and your sim is working fine) then getting back in contact with LG or Google may be your only option

I don't return to stock. I want to do it with e fully wipe of the device, but I'm afraid beacuse I don't know how to transfer Rom file in the device if the sdcard is deleted :/

[Q] Mobile data problem

I've got some problems with mobile data on my Note 4. I've bought unbranded phone in shop unrelated to any mobile provider. It's Snapdragon version (N910F).
I've got prepaid service, without LTE available (if that's important). The problem is that every now and then mobile data simply stops. There is still H or H+ sign in notification bar, and upload arrow blinks. but when i try to open web page or send message through viber, wattsup it acts like there is no network. Then i have to wait for about 30 seconds or manually turn mobile data off and then on again for internet to start working again.
I've tried changing APN settings, changing network type, but the problem is still there.
I've read some similar issues with Note 3 and SGS5 users, and some problems with modem versions, but i couldn't find anything from note 4 users
And this problem is very frustrating on phone like Note 4
Is there anything else i could try?

I don't know if this is relevant, if your apn settings has a proxy and port values, try to delete it and let the proxy and port be blank. I had issues previously with data getting stuck while using proxy setting.

Also have this exact same problem with the unbranded SM-N910H, H+ but no internet all of a sudden. I also sometimes lose the whole signal (Emergency Calls Only) so I have to reboot or turn airplane mode off and on to get it working again. I asked some people and they told me it's a coverage problem with the network provider. IDK if it's true.

No ahmadmob its the phone although i have n910u i have exact same problems as u!! I thinks its modem hopefully gets solved soon im in Australia using prepaid only 3g/h+

Glad it's not a carrier specific issue.
Guess I'll wait for an official fix or for other radios to become available.

I rang samsung australia few weeks ago and they had no idea than again when do they ever!? Lol so looks like we will have to wait buddy

Some common suggestions:
1- Swap the SIM card into another phone to see if the problem persists?
2- If the problem is due to Note 4, you may need to update your firmware/baseband to the latest one (if one is available, or you have to wait until Samsung release it), or try another firmware (from another model) or custom ROM.

Tried already mate sims fine updated reflashed stock rom and still same problem.. hopedully update comes soon

I just tried sim card from another carrier, and for now, everything looks fine.
I'll go ask for a new sim from my carrier, or switch my number to another one.

I'm here with the same problem. Did any of you find solution for it (other than switching to different carrier). I'm on Play in Poland and i find mobile data problematic mostly in roaming (free roaming with every carrier in Poland). For example on t-mobile or plus i find my up arrow constatnly blinking and H switching to H+ and again. Problem is even worse with 2 or less signal bars. I'm thinking of changing sim cars to new one, but on my note 2 everything works perfectly fine.

I thought I noticed a slight improvement after the final KitKat update, may have been a placebo effect though.
In general it's still bad, much worse than my HTC M7, same network, same location etc. It seems to be particularly bad when travelling at speed e.g. on the train I get full bars but only 1 arrow flickering.
Upgraded to Lollipop a couple of days ago and finally rooted, doubt this will make a difference but will be able to report during my commute tomorrow.
In summary: The HSDPA modem on my phone is rubbish.
P.S. Previous phones I've owned came with options for different modems, I'd often flash these to improve performance, where are they for the Note 4?

I think they're not available yet, at least on lollipop...

I can confirm that after the lollipop 5.0.1 update on my SM-N910H all my mobile data problems/mobile network drop outs are solved!. 3 days without any problems now.
Edit: maybe it had something to do with Radio and it got fixed after it got updated along with the lollipop update package?

Guys, here in my country Bulgaria, many of us owners of SGN4 have the same issue and wilth Lollipop also. I have noticed that with KitKat the problem was more frequent than Lollipop but it is still there. We have tried Polish Lollipop and now the official Bulgarian Lollipop but the problem still exists. I hope somebody will tell me which ROM you have installed (oficial) so I could share it with my fellow citizens. Thank!

[Q] Random mobile data connection drop problem with S4

First of all, I ran an extensive search over google and also on XDA forums before posting this.
My S4 (I9500) is experiencing random data connection drop problem for some time now. It starts with no data transfer (upload/download arrows not being active), then connection goes from H+ to H, then to 3G, then drops, back to H and continues until I turn off and on MOBILE DATA from toggle buttons. Then it works normal for some random time, then it happens again. Sometimes an hour, sometimes after 5 minutes.
I found this thread , however trying the workaround there by entering the provided code, I get "Connection problem or invalid MMI code". So that fix is not working either. I tried to go in service mode > debug screen > nas control and change revision to Release 5, but it says NOT SUPPORT. Haven't tried the other releases since I dont want to mess with it. I am also aware that the workaround in the above thread is for S2.
When this happens, it is just mobile data, there is no problem with network signal.
Has anyone else experienced something like that on their S4s?

The method you tried using is probably outdated and for a different phone.
Are you sure it isn't your provider?
Did you try another modem?

Nope.. I am working for a service provider company. Other people with iPhones in the same location as I am, are not experiencing the same thing. I heard similar problems with other S4 users, but they dont know any workaround either.
I tried both auto connect and WCDMA only options as well. Doesnt make a difference. My S4 doesnt support LTE, so I only have 3 options, third as GSM only, which I don't think it would be a solution.
Only temporarily solution so far, is turning mobile data off and on, which lasts from 5 minutes to 1-2 hours.
Btw my android version is 4.4.2
