A little confused

I have rooted my rogers phone the UK way and am wondering if i want to install some custom roms/cm7 do i need to unlock my bootloader? I am a noob......there is so much information on this site....bear with me and my questions.
Flashing a stock ROM such as the generic doesn't need an unlocked bootloader because it uses stock kernel, and doesn't need a custom recovery. That's why you can just use flashtool.
CM7 uses a custom kernel and needs recovery, so you need to unlock the bootloader.

[Q] Upgrading to 4.3 and bypassing Knox Bootloader

Hello,
Lately I've seen a few ROMs in the Android Development section that claim they have completely removed Samsung KNOX (for example, Arrow ROM 9.0.0).
My question is, does it still upgrade the bootloader to the new one that has the 0x1 flag? What are the risks if it does upgrade the bootloader but the Knox apps are removed from the device?
Thanks a lot, I'm looking forward for an answer to make this clear for me.
No custom roms include a bootloader, therefore no custom rom wil upgrade your bootloader.
Only stock roms update the bootloader.

[Q] rooting without flashing a custom rom

hi guys. i would like to root my nexus 4 preferably without flashing a custom ROM, but which way is easier and safer: flashing a custom ROM or just rooting with SU without flashing a custom ROM? i am a "beginner" and afraid of bricking my device. could you recommend be the best in your opinion rooting tutorial? i saw some on stickies but apparently they are from 2012. are they still relevant? thanks a lot!
you dont need to flash a custom rom to root your phone. your phone just stock and locked as well? there are couple different methods you can use to root depending on the current state of your phone (ie what version os you are running, locked/unlocked bootloader, etc..)
thank you for the answer
i am using 4.4.4 kitkat downgraded from 5 lollipop, so does it mean that my bootloader is unlocked? or not necessarily?

LG G2 D801... Installing custom rom related question...

Hello
I have T-mobile variant of LG G2 D801 and i was thinking of installing custom rom on it.
But i have this query which i would like to ask before i continue.
My device is currently sim locked so after installing custom rom, will i be able to unlock it via code? or should i unlock it first then install?
Also it is weird to ask but after unlocking the device with stock rom, will it stay permanent? Is it possible for the device to get locked again after custom rom installed on it. I was thinking of installing CM13 on it.
Please help clear my doubts.. I am kind of new in this custom rom stuff. The last time i installed custom rom on a device was long ago and that device was also factory unlocked so it was piece of cake. So i am not sure how to proceed with this one...
Regards!!!

Bootloader Unlocked

Does having the bootloader unlocked after rooting and installing a new ROM serve any purpose?
Will it cause problems if I wanted to change ROMs?
PS: TWRP is already flashed.
