[Q] Multi window does not work - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
The multi window option of my GN3 doesn't work, the bar on the left hand side does not appear when i keep pressing the return button.
Of course, the multi window option is activated in the settings.
By the way, my GN3 is rooted.
Can someone help me fixing this problem ?

Check if the multiwindow toggle is on at notification or quick toggle menu.

Did you freeze com.sec.android.app.FlashbarService, by any chance?
If yes, that's the multiwindow bar you froze.
If no, are you long-pressing return or just clicking it? You need to hold return, not click it.

Peculiar. What it does for me when I press Multi Window is a cycle of three settings:
1. Show the (<| toggle (bad graphical representation) on the right (or left) side in the middle of screen.
2. Hide the toggle completely
3. Show the bar.
Try clearing the cache and data on com.sec.android.app.FlashbarService. If that doesn't help, try wiping the system cache in recovery.

I did that as well and i wiped the cache partition but it still doesn't work..
Another solution ?

Other than a factory reset, sadly no.

I tried to reset my phone with a rom stock thanks to Odin but it didn't work. I think that the method that i followed was not correct.
Can you tell me how to reset my phone with Odin ?

Nobody can help me ?

I'm waiting for solution too. .. but my case is it kept force close the flashbar service.

Hey Folks,
i did not want to open a new thread for this topic, so i searched and added my problem to this existing thread.
Since a few days my Note 3 (N9005) is also not able to use Multi Window.
The Option in Settings is not highlighted and can not be turned to "on" anymore.
S Pen Window works (but only with standard apps like calculator, browser etc.)
Screenshot of Quick Settings: (Notice gray background of the symbol)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxAZku3RVKxcRGNubUY0c0JnVVE/view?usp=sharing
I did not change anything in the last few weeks (only a new microSD (32GB))
Everything Stock, no Root, Official 4.4.2
Maybe there is a solution other than factory reset
Thanks a lot!
Greetings
nitro

Just reinstall MultiWindowTrayService and FlashBarService...

Ok,
that sound easy. But where do i find these services?
i took a look around in the file system, but did not find anything.
can you maybe share a link for the .apk´s from a reliable source!?
Edit:
After trying some .apk´s (from android host) they all respond with "app could not be installed".
Any other ideas maybe?
i dont want to restore my device/data but it seems like it is the only option.
Thanks a Lot!
greetings

if i press the home button nothing happens. is there any way to solve my problem (without losing any data?)
a coworker of mine had the same issue today. I'm just reposting the link from another website, since I typically come to xda to find answers to stuff like this... either manually type this into your ANDROID browser, or if you could somehow make it to this page from your phone, just click this link... from your phone lol
market://search?q=pnamerg.adw.launcher
it is the direct adwlauncher link to the android market!
hope this helps! =)

Then why not post in that thread?? No need to create a new thread if one already exists on your exact issue.

Menu Disappearing in CM7

Is anyone else having an issue with CM7 where the right combination of gestures or touches while cause the menu bar to disappear? I have no idea how to reproduce it, or how to recover from it (short of a reboot) but it's happened at least 4 times i as many weeks.
Just curious if something is corrupt with my install or if it's a common issue.
If the bar is just invisible (the buttons still work, but there are no graphics), just rotate the screen and they should come back.
If you've touched the double-chevron button and the status bar went away, an app has requested fullscreen mode and the chevrons grant the request. Hit "home" to get somewhere that isn't fullscreen. You can pick an "un-hide" button and do other similar things in Settings/Tablet Tweaks, look for "Disable Fullscreen" and "Choose unhide button".
If neither of the above holds, your statusbar has crashed. There's an app that's supposed to bring it back, but that never worked properly for me. I have to reboot.
This hasn't happened to me in recent nightlies, but I'm not positive that the problem is really gone yet.

I've had the menu bar disappear while certain apps were open, preventing me from accessing the app menu and had to use the 'n' button to get out. To get around this I am using Button Savior.

That's my situation. The status bar / buttons disappear, so I hit the physical home button (the N as in Nook button), but the bar is still gone. This was happening on 7.0.3... i just installed 7.1 RC1 and haven't had it happen yet... we'll see.

Go to Settings/CyanogenMod settings/Tablet Tweaks, and check to see that you have the "Disable fullscreen" option checked. That prevents apps from overriding the status bar visibility. Additionally, you can setup an "unhide" button in case you accidentally hit the chevron or otherwise lose the Tablet Tweaks status bar.

Because you say "menu bar" and later on say you press the N button and they are still missing I believe you are talking about the ADW menu buttons (the launcher and apps buttons). If that is what you are referrinng to then you should go into ADW settings and uncheck the hidden taskbar option. By default it is checked.
can reproduce it on my EVO
I found out how to make the menu disappear, but cannot make it reappear.
I have an EVO 4G (original supersonic) and I am able to make the bottom home menu disappear using a downward swipe. I've done this accidentally quite a few times. (I'm referring to the Phone/Square/World Icons that launch the primary apps)
However, I do not know how to make it come back. I have been able to swipe randomly and get it to reappear, but I do not know what combination actually causes this.
The only way I know how to bring it back for sure, is a reboot. I wish I knew what that swipe combination was to restore the menu

By "Menu Bar", do you mean the the Dock where you can access the App Drawer?
If this is it, then you just have to swipe it up. But to just to warn you, it is "VERY HARD" to get the right swipe for it to show again. Trust me, I tried. Best solution would be to disable the "HIDE" Capability of the Dockbar by going into Settings>ADWLauncher>UI Settings Go down to Hidden Dockbar and disable Dockbar.

Air command not showing up anymore?

I have a strange problem,
After restoring some apps i can't get the air command to show up..
Pressing the s-pen button does nothing
And detaching the s-pen usually triggers air command (I've set it that way in the settings)
But now it only pops up a message on top left "S-pen has been detached"
Any idea why?

Settings > Controls > Air Command
Now I saw it.
I continue to have a problem with Air Command disappearing. I ended up completely wiping and reflashing along with wiping my internal (which I never did coming to Sacs_N4-N3), everything is running smoother now, and AC was working. Then I tweaked the animation settings (going from .25 on all to 1x, and changing from stock speed in Nova to Relaxed), making sure I paid attention to where the setting were to change back if anything happened. And sure enough, AC disappeared. Even after changing everything back and rebooting I can't get it to come back. Is there anything I can flash/push to system to get it to come back (framework, systemUI) or some setting I should change? And I've tried just toggle off/on in settings with no luck. Thanks in advance.
I had the same problem. Obviously there is something in the settings that mess with the Air command. When I did factory reset and no restore settings restore from google everything started working again. Somehow, I've changed something that broke the air command service from starting and listening to the pen bus messages
Interesting. I have all animations turned off (under dev settings) and Apex is set to the highest speed. Air Command works perfectly fine.

AC issue - Any suggestions?
I'm having the same issue; I get a response with the AC but it quickly disappears.... Any advice??

Anyone who is using Titanium Backup Can you see Menu?

I cannot get to the menu on TIB on the phone. it doesn't show in either screen.
(can't get image attached for some reason)
But it is supposed to be in top right hand corner says Menu in overview screen, or the 3 vertical dots in other screens.
Anyone else notice this? any suggestions for a fix. I don't believe it's TiB issue cause only happens on this phone works just fine on my S6

It's like this for me as well. I used the menu button in Mipop to get to tibu's menu. I later used gravity box to map menu to a longpress of the back button. Hope this helps.

Confirmed, same thing. Mapping long press recents to menu is an awesome fix, I was missing having a menu key anyway!
You can click problems in the TB screen, it will prompt you with preference option

if you have root i assume you know how to get xposed.
Once you have that, install this module and reboot, you should now have menu option in any app that doesn't show it currently.
I think, most of xposed user will install GravityBox and there is also a keymapping option and youre free, which key shall use an menue function. work fine with TB

Letting application run in the background of the operating system in android 7 EMUI 5

How to let the application run in the background of the operating system in android 7 EMUI 5.0, Huawei-Mat 8?
In the previous version, Android 6, the application should be kept in the Protected Apps, but after updating the operating system the Protected Apps disappeared.
Click the square button on home screen, select your app, and click the Lock on its upper-right corner.

Actually I got this solution also, in the last week, and I kept it for three days. Unfortunately it is not working.
Even I made factory data reset. I reinstalled all my apps again. Again the same result.

It doesn't say it anywhere but you have to restart the phone for each change there to take effect.

Ooho, the same problem came again after three days.
I'm trying this setting on mysms to get it to work all the time.
Not receiving notifications when you should be? Here's a Huawei oddity that we've found to be irksome with some apps not sending alerts/notifications even when all settings are apparently correct (WhatsApp is our problematic one). It's to do with EMUI's strict power efficiency. If you stop receiving notifications try this (to access Ignore Optimisations): access Apps (method above) > hit the blue settings cog icon to the bottom > select Special Access under the Advanced tab > Unrestricted Data Access. Here apps can be granted always-on data irrelevant of what other settings state. source: www.pocket-lint.com/news/140204-hua...-tricks-take-charge-of-your-mate-9-p9-honor-8
