[Q] support for Sony/Oppo - Omni Q&A

checking omnirom.org I noticed that only Nexus devices are listed. Has support for Sony/Oppo devices been dropped?

No.
That list is of devices ALREADY working when we went live... There are many Sony and Oppo devices working needing added to that list.

And actually, that list was incomplete, since when we went live, there were already the following at the BABBQ in addition to Nexus devices:
Oppo Find5 (primary device for both xplodwild and myself and the first non-Nexus device to boot Omni)
Sony Xperia Z (yuga)
Sony Xperia Tablet Z (wifi - pollux_windy)
Things are evolving rapidly and in flux, and sometimes, since most of us are busy coding, the website is the last thing updated.

The find 5 discussion for omnirom seems to be all outside of xda over on OPPO Forums.
Most custom roms have duplicate threads there and here on xda.
Maxwen has said he would get better feedback on oppo forums than on xda.
Seems strange to me that it's not here on xda but I'm probably missing something

Omni is in its infancy, and the find5 is a bit of an oddball device in that Oppo has been VERY supportive of community developers. I think it's the only time that xplodwild or I ever maintained a thread outside of XDA.

Actually it is a matter of effort. Maintaining a thread in a good way takes a lot of time. At least the way I like it to do. So there are no specific reasons why I started at oppoforum

[Q] No CyanogenMod/AOSP for S4?

Been reading around the nets it isn't happening due to Sammy not playing to nice with the developers.
Here are some references:

I was hoping on getting this phone, but after reading this, it doesn't seem to be a smart purchase. Anyone here planning on developing for the S4?

Alright, should probably close this. But since we are here, this is a link from your post on that forum topic:

Can't rule out support just yet.
the samething happened with every other phone in xda except the nexus devices lol
Some CM devs said it's a no go for the exynos chip. The snapdragon will almost definitely see official CM. I'm sure exynos may just as well. Just think of how popular this device is going to be. By the way, don't post q's in developer sections, especially og dev.

Tired of people sayin it won't get cm/aosp...there's always unofficial builds which 70% of the world's android runs...the sgs4 will get cm...just may not be officially supported

different roms, same features...

Is it possible that all these amazing devs, none of them can come up with some original idea? 5 years, same old cm features.

Hi,
Develops and compile your own rom with what you want in it... with your original idea... but where are they?
Criticism is good but it must be constructive, submit your ideas to the CM team or to any other devs..., I'm sure you have many original ideas with a thread like this one...
You like these kind of threads, right?

I would rather not "develop" anything than uploading some rom that simply changes the way the settings in the menu are sorted. I understand it hurts you, but that is the truth. CM has been the same for 5 years and consequently all the "original" roms based on it are exact same stuff. PA and moles and his team are the only ones that have come up with something interesting. The rest simply keep posting the same rom in different devices for 5 years now.

Woah dude seriously? All the hard work devs put in and you cant even be grateful for what you get. All these brilliant roms you get for free as well. It's not as easy as just thinking of an idea and putting it in, things are much more complex than that. By all means suggest things but don't criticise, that's uncool

Do not make this thread go out of topic. I said amazing devs. It is useless to reply to the rest of your comment because it has nothing to do with this thread.

Maybe you should check out the newest features of aospa. Their per app dpi and color with the new toggle is the best new feature I've seen.

I agree. In fact, I mentioned that moles is the only one bringing something innovative. I also know that the PA team got something cool and refreshing for us in the future. That is what users want to see I believe.

one problem is the versions of android. every time android is updated, the cm team starts off from scratch. many of the same old features from previous versions, has to be made compatible with the newer version. this takes time. the cm devs dont do this full time, they do it on their spare time. by the time everything is up and running, another version of android is up, and they start from scratch again. there are a few new features added here and there, but this all takes time. and i want to correct you, there are many features that were added since the original cm, its not the same for every android version. also, some features have disappeared because android doesnt allow them anymore.
Why not become one of these amazing developers and bring some of your original ideas. Vice creating a thread of this manner....Thread Closed & Thank You.

If you could not find an answer, it probably means there is no answer.
MIUI is on 4.1.2 right now, our phone supports 4.2+ so until MIUI upgrade their base to 4.2, no MIUI for us.

There are 2 other threads in the Nexus 4 general forum. Head to those threads
It was said that MIUI for the Nexus 4 would come at the end of april. (Pretty soon ) :good:
I've heard end of April also so we'll see.

MIUI devs are dickheads, so I wouldn't be surprised if they never release MIUI for Nexus 4 despite promising that they will always support Nexus phones.

My Xperia Z1 Review [New Photos 08/10/13]

Hi,
Some of you from the Z forum may remember me for posting a link to my blog where I wrote a review that most seemed to enjoy, so here is a new review of the Z1 that I have just written. Hope you enjoy this one too.
It includes some photos I took myself with the phone, I intend to add more soon.
EDIT: Added a lot more photos!

Will you make a more personal review of the device in the future? I mean no disrespect, but it seems like more of a sum-up of all it can do rather than a personal user experience after one week. There are tons of reviews out there where all they do is list the specs but never really get into the usage of the phone.

I did add a fair few personal comments, mainly on build quality, what I thought it lacked and what I didn't like, but I do see where I could make it more personal in other places. Thank you for your feedback .

That's the one! Wasn't sure if the OP there would want me to link so I kind of assumed this thread would be dead.
As a bit if info - Find5 was the first non-Nexus device that anyone got booting, and it is the daily driver for quite a few members of the Omni team.
I had builds ready to go when we announced, but we decided it would be better to wait until things settled down a bit before posting builds. There's really too much unmerged stuff at the moment and a lot of work to do, such as getting roomservice up and running.

This is wonderful
Since I can't post on the oppo forums has anyone gotten root on Max's omni ROM? Only thing I could find is to use supersu but it doesn't work. Fails every time.
Edit: flashed updated super su. All good now.
