100 bucks for 4.3 I9100G Rom including usable STK app - Galaxy S II General

Hi,
I am ready to doante 100 bucks to the first developer who helps me get a STK (Sim Toolkit) app work on my I9100G.
I am using SlimBean 4.3, and I have flashed at least 7 or 8 Roms for my 9100G: none does support STK.
I need STK in order to use my dual Sim adapter, from Magic-Sim. Dual Sim adapter needs to use the stk.apk located in /system.
I do not want to go back to stock Rom for my region, Africa (which contains STK). I'd really love to use my beautioful SlimBean AND my dual Sim adapter.
Thanks
Chawki

Well if you're sure that STK works on stock roms, why not give Chameleon a try? It's a really well polished stock-based rom that looks identical to AOSP. May be just what you're looking for

Droid 2/Global ROMS

Sorry if this has been asked but I have just ordered a Milestone 2 and i was wondering whether the Droid 2 ROMs would work on the Milestone 2. I know people say no but i remember reading in the D2G forums about a little patch you can implement to make D2 roms work on D2G - Isn't the hardware and drivers the same apart from the EVDO/CDMA part of the antennae?
Thanks, Jack
I tried to install a ROM designed to work on the D2G and I bricked my Milestone 2 so I advise you to not try it
I might have done something wrong but I won't test again as I had to restore my system with RSD Lite (and it's a pain in the a*s).
Well that sucks - wonder why it bricked it D:
I hope you did something wrong and it does work. I will just try when i get my phone.
If it doesn't i will either install ArgenROM or overclock to 2GHz
D2 custom roms mostly work, however the issue with those is that they do not initialise with the UMTS radio, instead they use CDMA. By "mostly", I mean "everything except for the phone part". All the difficult bits (wifi, GPS, camera etc etc) work perfectly. I've flashed the APEX rom to my phone without issue.
It's possible, when we can work it out, that we can force them to boot with the UMTS radio. When we've worked this out, we should be home free, thus giving us a few more roms to use =)

There is a file you can flash on the d2g to initialise the UMTS radio once a D2 rom is installed - I wonder if that would work?
What file?
Would you upload it? In a update.zip way?

If you can find it for me, I'm more than willing to try!
The "file" is called D2G romer tool. Yes, it is an update.zip which you install from clockwork recovery. It will NOT work on Milestone 2. However, the approach taken creating the romer tool can be used with Milestone 2 to create similar file based on Milestone 2.
Romer is far from perfect though. If you want to know more, google for Get~R~Done team, or go to droidforums.net and navigate to Droid2 Global section.

Lets hope we can get some ROMs a Flashin' on the MS2 then
I've downloaded that file. So by, let's say, replacing all files from that update.zip with files from the Milestone 2 Stock ROM, we would be able to create a "MS2 Romer"..?
There are quite some files to replace, but I think I might try it out this weekend!

Hah! Messing around, I've managed to get a version of APEX to boot. However, in my messing I removed all the bits that make it APEX, but the rom does boot with the apex logo and the different key map, and the phone part works too..
Pretty sure I know what to modify to get this work... gonna mess some more :3

Well this is a start- just shows we are getting there
Also, The milestone's BL is blocked but devs just load the system files such as SenseUI or other ROMs without replacing kernels. With some tweaks would it be possible to port Sense 2.2/2.3 to the MS2? (I like blur but sense is good too and i tend to chop and change roms on my current phone)
Yay! Congratulation!
I see MM2 community raise. Now I don't have any arguments, I will buy MM2

Theoretically it's possible to bring across SENSE. Not sure how deeply it integrates, I don't know a lot about sense. Theoretically you could replace the bits of BLUR with Sense, dunno for sure yet. The fact that sense exists on non-sense devices makes me believe it's possible :3
But like someone said before, the camera probably wouldn't be working because of the integration of its libraries into the kernel

If the camera itself is a part of sense, then sure. But otherwise, D2 roms have working camera on them on MS2.

HD Voice - Let's get this going - Bring your files!

Let's try get this working on networks that support it! Your network MUST support this in order to work!
Ok, so after someone asked if HD-Voice was working on my ROM... it got me wondering. As it turns out, it wasn't working on my ROM, and that turned out to be because of the nature of custom ROMs. As we are usually installing the latest version from god knows where in the world, we often miss out on some of the carrier-centric stuff that is actually good.
With the help of pinguy1982 I managed to get HD-Voice working on my custom ROM... but only for the Three Network (that I've tested).
To do this, I had to take some files from the STOCK Branded ROM for Three, which was the XXDLJ1 release we had some months back. These were the files from the CSC folder "/system/csc/H3G/*" and copy them to the foot of my CSC folder, overwriting the ones that were there. This is changing the default CSC. Then I edited the CSCVersion.txt and SW_Configuration.xml files to reflect the change in CSC/sales code.
So CSCVersion.txt went from:
Code:
I9300OXAELLA
to
Code:
I9300H3GELLA
And SW_Configuration.xml from:
Code:
<CSCName>I9300OXA</CSCName>
to:
Code:
<CSCName>I9300H3G</CSCName>
I put these files into my ROM and flashed and this enabled WB-AMR
This is where XDA does it's thing.... I don't know of all the different branded versions nor can I download them all myself.
In this thread I'm asking people to upload these files for me and other devs to use and experiment with this so we can deliver the best experience to our users.
If you know of a branded ROM that has WB-AMR (HD-Voice) enabled, download it and send us the files. The whole CSC folder from /system/ would be fine, but you could also just send the files that are in the folder. We need:
Code:
contents.db
customer.xml
default_workspace.xml
language.xml
others.xml
sales_code.dat
and possibly
Code:
features.xml
You can test if your phone/branded ROM has WB-AMR enabled by dialling:
*#197328640#
And pressing 8 (the last one).
Ok but basically unless your provider is 3, there's no point, since the other providers do not support high def voice, no matter what we have enabled on phone.
JKAY DELUXE [I9300 JB 4.1.2]
Possible to create a CWM file to enable HD-VOICE on 3UK? would help a lot of us who are on 3 and using various roms...
If these are carrier specific components in the ROMs, does that mean unbranded phones wouldn't be able to make use of HD voice stuff?

Yes and no. I could, but it may break the com.android.phone process as I'm trying to work out what is causing that. If you're fully stock, no removed applications and all stock apk's, then this will work no problem.
I know there are handfull of operators around the world that support hd voice.
I only commented because post somehow seems to suggest, or at least does not explicitly say that this does not work unless your operator already supports hd voice.
I have come across several people that seems to think otherwise, primarily because of posts like this. I am not implying this is a bad topic or post. Far from it. But it should have disclaimer either in title or post itself, saying this, so that newbies don't perpetuate this false belief.
I've read some providers in Russia also support it. Can't find an article though, but I think they were the first testbed for hd voice years ago, or whether that particular provider carries sgs3.
JKAY DELUXE [I9300 JB 4.1.2]
I'll update the OP accordingly I don't want to be spreading confusion. It also seems like this is more hassle than it's worth, really. I can't say I've noticed the difference in call quality anyway!
Considering that you also need another caller that has phone capable of hd voice and enabled, on same hd voice capable network, no surprise there.
JKAY DELUXE [I9300 JB 4.1.2]
does 2g or 3g network and fastdormancy enable or disable effect WB-AMR status ???

Hi,
T-Mobile US appears to support this. Myself and several of my friends have Galaxy S III's, and when we call each other the quality is unreal.
I want to flash a custom ROM, but know that I'd lose HD Voice. I'd rather not. Is there still work on enabling it for custom ROM's?
Thanks

If you're rooted can you pull your entire /system folder to your PC?
If you have your CSC folder and modem, it can be done, I believe.
Sorry, but no go. I tried CM10.1 and put my csc folder in /system. I'm not even sure if CM will pick up csc info. If only I were a developer instead of a tinkerer...
I made a thread in the appropriate area to try and get some assistance with my specific model of phone. I'll report back here with what I find, as well as post to this thread if I get it to work. Here's my csc stuff if anyone wants to take a look.

Hi! I am on ARHD 22.4 but HD Voice is disabled on this ROM even though I am sure my network supports it. When I was trying out ARHD 30.1 (based on 4.2.1) yesterday, I noticed that HD Voice was enabled on that ROM. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay on that ROM for other reasons so I went back to 22.4. (I hope that makes sense.) I was wondering if you could help me get HD Voice to work now and I have pulled the CSC folder from ARHD 30.1 which is 13.7MB. It is here. I am using the DXELK1 modem from my region which I downloaded from here.
I really don't know what else I can do so I come to you for help. Thank you! :crying:
t mobile UK supports this as well ) http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/our-network/network-news/
if I just edit the files would it wipe my device after a reboot?
Like I say guys if you know your network supports it then show me more a BRANDED ROM for your network and i can try something for you

Can I install a custom ROM on the Defy Mini?

A friend of mine has a Defy Mini which is causing her all sorts of problems due to software glitches etc. I offered to take a look at it and see what I can do. I looked at the rooting process and it seems simple enough to downgrade the bootloader, get fastboot, and flash a recovery.
My question is though, can I install a custom ROM like CM on it? I don't see any ROMs for the Mini, just the original Defy. Can I just flash a port of CM7 for the big Defy to the Defy Mini once it's rooted?
Is Defy mini hdpi?
If its not its a tough job to port
I Googled for a custom rom for this device and seems there are none
Sent from my MB526 using xda premium
Defy and Defy Mini has too much difference HW, none are the same as far as I know.
So no easy port. You will need to develope the rom from start (that sound hard I'm no dev.)
And as nogoodusername said, noone interested to do it yet.
Thought not. I'll help my friend get a replacement device then. Thanks.
How hard would it be to port a ROM from some other ARMV7 hvga device, like htc explorer?

it seams you can't do much (any) tweaking with the stock rom even if it's rooted. can't move apps to SD, can't uninstall system apps (that take up almost all internal storage), can't use scripts, does not recognize the ext2 partition... and so on..
errrm...You can move aps to sd via m2sd or a2sd or with native.
All system apps and bloatware can be removed.
Can use scripts.

didn't you receive my PM? I sent you a link with atleast 4-5 other AOKP versions. Try them out. According to one developer, 4.3.x was the heaviest of all JB versiona, try aokp_xt907_unofficial_2013-08-09.zip or the aokpzmod_xt907_nightly_20130726.zip that I sent you links to. Yay! Finally got it to work. Thanks. I didn't find the line for editting the network mode in the custom ROM I installed (optimizedCM13 by JDCTeam) but I added it none the less. Got the app "Advanced System Status" , turned the radio off and entered the GSM auto mode. Everything works well now.
Update: Actually, no additional lines were needed. Removed them and just used the "Advanced System Status" app.
I have to configure it again each time I reboot though.

That did not work for me. On optimized CM13 by JDCTeam my sim card is not detected. Even after installing advanced signal status it did not work. I dont have the lines you mentioned in my build prop. On AOSP CM14 by JDCTeam my SIM card is detected but i am not getting signals.
