Lightflow kills one hand operation - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't use it very often but I do like one handed operation. Today I realized that it wasn't working so I started undoing all the mods/setup I've been working on. Turns out it was lightflow. I can disable it in accessibility options and one hand operation immediately starts working.
Are there any other decent led control apps to try?
Thought I'd post here to hopefully save anyone else the trouble if they run into the same problem.

It seems like having anything enabled under Accessibility kills one-handed mode.
But Light Flow is working for me without the Accessibility setting. There's a new setting called Notification Access in the Security section.
Try enabling Light Flow there and see if it works. As I said, mine is working that way, but I'm also rooted, so maybe that has something to do with it...

Yeah it was enabled there too. Maybe there's just something wrong with mine because my wife just informed me that hers is working find and all she did was install it and forget about it. I had to enable options I've never used before like the one to make the led flash even when the screen is on, in order to get or to do anything at all.
I'm rooted too.

Make sure that you have the LED settings under 'Settings' > 'Display' to have "Charging" and "Notifications" checked along with the checkbox in 'Security' > 'Notification Access'.

Lol, looks like that was my problem. For some reason I thought they all needed to be turned off so I did that initially and didn't even think to revisit it.
Thanks.

So we don't need to enable it in accessibility? Cuz that ruins most features. Makes you disable them.

Mine is currently disabled in Accessibility and enabled in Security -> Notification Access. In Display -> LED indicator, I have Charging, and Notifications checked.
Working like a charm.

Works good this way with or without root. Just installed.opened.enabled the notification access. And use. Doesn't need enabled in accessibility.

In my S3 they had to be disabled in stock settings to work. In this they need to be enabled in stock settings for it to work. I know lightflow told me to disable it in stock settings on the S3.

[Q] Is there any way to disable Recommended Shortcuts in notifications?

Does anybody know how to disable Recommended Shortcuts in the notifications shade? It appears every time I plug in the headphones. I remember that I had to freeze an apk on my Sgs3 to disable it on early firmwares. Later there was an option in the clock settings to turn it off. For the life of me, I can't find that option anywhere on the sgs4...
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
I've noticed that if you stop the Page Buddy service before plugging in headphones, it no longer appears. That said there's no option for Page Buddy like there was in the Note 2, or at least not in the same place it was on there.

Yes exactly, I have it disabled on my note 2 (haven't yet managed to sell it on).
I wonder what does this page buddy do on a SGS4?

From the description it's supposed to provide contextual pages.
I disabled the app and the notification went away. I'm leaving it disabled for now to see if it affects anything else I use.
Also there is an option for "Show notifications" for the Page Buddy service Application page. I just unchecked that, leaving the application enabled and the notification is gone now.
I wonder: What is "recommended shortcuts (earphones)" and where can I configure it? I like the idea, yet I'd like to configure it.
But I can't seem to find a setting or app. Is it really connected to a "Page buddy" app? I have no such app on my SGS4.

[Q] How to stop battery charged notification and screen turn on

Hello,
My S4s (i9500) screen keeps coming on when it reaches full charge, with a notification to unplug my charger. This wakes me up in the middle of the night, I'd like the phone to remain face up during the night...is there any way to stop this from happening?
turn your phone face down?

Thanks, need an answer to my actual question though, about how to disable the screen turning on when this notification happens.

You'll have to wait for a mod. There is no stock way to do that.

1.Head into the Settings menu. Samsung's done things a little differently and changed the way the settings menu looks, so you'll need to hit the "More" tab, and then get into the Software information.
2.Look for "About device" at the bottom. Tap it.
3.Hop on down to the build number, and tap it seven times. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. You'll get a little prompt saying you're about to unlock the developer settings. Hit that button one final time -- seven! -- and they're unlocked.
Now you've got developer settings on the Galaxy S4.

Hmm this is a pretty good workaround, the screen still comes on but turns off on it's own and pretty quick. Thank you.
Guess I'll have to wait for a mod for the screen not to come on at all or to disable the beyond useless notification altogether.
If you have root, grab es file manager or root explorer or something and go to system/media/ui/ and delete whatever sounds you want deleted. Make sure to back them up if you want them back.

Do you have something enabled in the accessibility settings? If you have things like light flow or other stuff enabled it messes with the talk back feature and automatically enables it. The only way to stop it is to freeze it or disable the other thing.

Its usually caused by talkback in accessibility. Talkback can also be triggered by some apps that access notifications like lightflow or floating notifications.
Theres a bug with Talk balk.. try disable then enable again

thanks guys, enabling then disabling fixed it now
I had the same issue, but turning off / on TalkBack didn't resolve it for me.
What worked was turning off a different app (Dashlane) that had Accessibility on....so now I have no apps with Accesibility on, and the browser stopped talking to me.
I remember my S3 had a similar issue with TalkBack talking when I had LightFlow accessibility on.

maybe it needs root, some phones do. could also just be that it's not marshmallow optimized yet? are you rooted and if so, have you checked the "root" box in settings? mine wasn't working either and it's the straw that broke the proverbial back of my camel and caused me to give up on not rooting my phone and trying to go vanilla. I just knew that if i was having problems this early i wasn't going to be able to go long term without it.
Light Flow worked out of the box for me, I just installed the app... gave it permission to view my notifications and it worked.
Be sure pulse notification light is enabled in settings > sound & notifications.
What color light you trying to use? I noticed some of the choices in light flow don't work on my led. Try a different color maybe.

This is the most common reason I see for LF not working for people. Make sure you do this (as the app tells you to do).

Might not apply, but make sure to NOT follow the tutorial for Light Flow on the Nexus 6.
You still need to uncheck "Run in foreground" in the Persistent Icon menu.
Then under Device Settings and Root, ONLY check the following:
Root Mode
Show LED While Screen on (this might not need to be checked)
Nexus 5 force LED reset
I think that's it.

I had a back up of Light Flow from my Nexus 6 so i just left it the same, but the biggest change was the "LED Mixer" or whatever the setting was called in each notification. Removing that, and just selecting the color and blink rate fixed the problem for me.

I am not saying those settings you mention break anything... just wanted to clarify that they aren't required in order for it to work. For example, I don't have Light Flow running in root mode.

Enabling the LED Mixer did break Light Flow, which is only caused if you follow the Nexus 6 tutorial. So if people are saying it works out of the box, then great.

Yup, it does. The only things you need to do are the ones it pops up and tells you about... which for me, was reminding me to give it access to see my notifications.
I've been using Light Flow since it was released, so I typically start fresh on each new device to report any issues before I import my notifications backup.
Edit: Well, and turn on the LED in Settings for the device.

I usually use the provided LED settings in ROMs since Light Flow doesn't give you LED options for every app (Tweet Caster for example).

Yeah, I am sure it doesn't support every single app in existence. I usually run into an unsupported app once a year or so and the dev always adds it very quickly upon request.

Well damn, I didn't even know a request was an option! thanks.
Any help from people have it working properly?
I'm rooted and it only blinks a white/purplish light. Solid green when charging.
Test and real notifications don't show requested custom color
I have the option for pulse turned on but have not had any notifications use the led. In fact I don't even know where it is on the phone bc it hasn't turned on once. Does it not work without lightflow or similar app?

Light Flow notifications manager not working with S7 Edge. Alternatives ? Solutions ?

Hello,
I received my S7 Edge (Exynos), installed my Light Flow app (paid) and it is not working. Tried the Samsung-specific workaround proposed by the app, Direct Mode, etc. and nothing.
Any idea about this ? Any alternatives to Light Flow ?
Thanks !
It works if you turn off the always on display and you enable the samsung fix.
I was using Light Manager on my Xperia Z2 and I'm using it again on S7 Edge. It works without any problems with Always on display feature.

May I ask you about your settings?
You have 'always on display' ON as you said, what about 'LED-Display' in the 'Display' Settings?
I have the 'Light Manager Pro' and Mode on 'Normal Mode', but the notification is not working..
Here's my settings:
Display -> Led indicator -> Turned On / Enabled
Display -> Always On Display -> On
As far as Light Manager, I just installed app and configure some colors for apps, no other changes:
Normal Mode
Enable Fix -> unchecked
Shows notification Only
I have not made any display nor light manager changes. All was as it was installed / default.
Hope that helps. One more thing I have regular version NOT Pro
Works, I dont know why exactly but it does - thanks!
Light Manager works if you are charging. It seems to get pretty flaky on battery. I set it to turn the screen on when starting the light and it's better. Still not 100% accurate.

He confirmed it for Light Manager but his first comment was for Light Flow which is what I am trying to use.
Lightflow I could only get to work if I disabled the always on screen in the phones settings and enabled the Samsung fix in Lightflow (it prompts you for the Samsung fix). The Samsung fix means notifications don't get dismissed correctly a lot.
Light Manager works with the always on screen. It worked great when I set it up while charging. It got pretty unreliable running on battery. So I set in Light Manager advanced settings I enabled "Wake Screen". Works a lot better like that. Normal mode and no 5.1.1 fix needed.
Always on OFF
Lightflow is working for me

Yes I can confirm. I have lightflow working fine.
I have the always on screen off, and have done right from the start. The fact it only displays missed calls and sms is useless to me. Until it starts show all notifications, then I won't use it.
Notifications always clear fine as well.

Anyone with a rooted phone can try Light Flow to see if it works ? The app has some "root options" that may or may not make a difference
Right now the following issues are present:
- Does not work when the Always-On screen is on
- All applications from Google (Gmail, Messenger tried) do not work, unless you set their "Notifications" toggle off, which is even worse than Light Flow not working
Thanks !
LED blinker pro works perfectly.
