[Q] How to flash ROM from different region? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My SM-N9005 from Vodafone just arrived today and I am trying to flashing it with the Hong Kong ROM (N9005ZHUBMI7_N9005ZZHBMI7_TGY) from Sammobile without much success. Odin started and got a "invalid EXT4" error and the phone was softbricked. I had to use Kies to repair with original ROM to get it up and running again.

Device name : GALAXY Note3 (SM-N9005)
Service name : SM-N9005 Software Update
Service version : PDA:MI7 / PHONE:MI6 / CSC:MI1 (VOD)
Service description :
I saw a thread mentioned "Reactivation lock" can cause issue so after factory restore I disabled "Reactivation lock" and then tried Odin again and same error happen. Any suggestion?
Also I have yet to put a sim card in as I heard about the region lock. So if I flash it with the Hong Kong ROM before putting a simcard in, does it mean the region lock will not apply at all? Also is there another way to find out if the phone is carrier locked without putting a sim in? Thanks!

I have same problem, Note 3 buy in France and can't install ROM from TW or HK but work fine with ROM for France and UK.
Look link to region lock, but I don't root the Note 3, if possible don't want but if anyone can confirm should work after do or/and unlock with Chainfire tools ?
Thanks,

Hi there, I got the same problem, but how do you use Kies to repair it? Emergency Firmware recovery?

No you select firmware upgrade and then it will ask you for the model and your serial number. Once you entered it then it will download the ROM and restore it. It works as I had done it twice already.

thanks man, on it now. I was doing Firmware Emergency recovery and Kies did not do anything to my phone. Coming back from the death
Edit: I think we should flash the same region rom if we want to change?
Just FYI, i have odin my phone from TGY rom to BTU, with file .md5 downloaded from Sammobile. I did not work and got into Invalid ext4 Image. Then I downloaded the BTU rom from "Root da la Vega" thread in Post 2, last Q&A (PDA and CSC), still did not work, with the same error message. So i guess we can not change our CSC? Or maybe if you can get all 4 files for odin (Bootloader, AP, CP, CSC) you can change into different region's rom?

After get the problem I DL ROM from same Area (here Europe) and try French and UK, both work fine, so you need same ROM than your area I think.

This is annoying as it was easy with note 2 both N7100 and N7105, you can just flash any region rom.
So is your Note 3 unlocked or locked to any carrier? Just wondering if that can cause the issues.
I want the TGY ROM because I use the Chinese handwriting input.

Samsung note 3 n9005 ( european model ) IMEI and software problem

Hello,
I'm from Egypt I bought a note 3 n9005 european sim model
-from settings my phone reads different IMEI than the one written on the phone under the battery.
-The network goes down to emergency call only but never asked me for unlock PIN
-someone installed for me android 4.4.2 that deleted all options like air gestures and all other Samsung stuffs
- In settings menu the phone model n9000 ( -_- )
- I wanted to return the phone to stock settings, firmware and unlock it.
- I think knox already tripped ( how to check it ? )
- I downloaded a file with extensionBTU- N9005XXUDMJ7 (mar.tdr5) 1.36GB + Odin 3.07 + usb driver.
Do I need anything else because it's my first time flash an android phone.
Thanks in advance
Switch on the phone by pressing power+home+volume down. This will take you to download mode. Knox status will be displayed there.
If you are on 4.4.2, you can't downgrade to MJ7.
I have no idea how you managed to get a new with a new ROM.
But you can always try flashing the ROM you downloaded. You don't need anything else. Just read a couple of guides on Odin flashing.

Just don't post your IMEI number here
If your model is showing N9000 it's from a CM build being installed, especially if you lost Samsung features.. as for the IMEI issue we'll investigate that soon as we know what we are actually dealing with :good:

Once you flash back to normal Stock Samsung it'll be better to grasp the IMEI errors, when dialling *#06# into the keypad it adds an extra number with a / mine is /01 iirc. for now, how about we get you back to Stock then sort the rest as we are unsure what is what. :good:

To my knowledge once the region lock is activated that's it, you can't undo it. < Ignore that, take a look at this
The region lock isn't to one country though, it's to continents. There may be some ways around it if you are rooted (which you are) but I'm not the best person to speak to regarding that. Odin being tripped means nothing apart from if your phone stops working tomorrow, Samsung won't be interested.
In terms of the Samsung Stock Software that you are installing, it doesn't really matter what software you install providing it isn't the Exynos version. Because you have the 4.4 boot loader though you MUST flash the leaked polish build. If you install the version that was mentioned above by one of the other posters, later on we can focus on getting you the correct software for your device region if we need to.
I can't tell you much about region lock. Mine came without it.
n9005xxudmj7 is a ROM version. Not a product number.
Since your knox is already tripped, you can easily root your device using Chainfire's autoroot and install the regionlock-away.
But before we get there, we need to get you up and running on atleast some version of TouchWiz.
Did you try flashing that file yet?

Note 3 Can't see SIM card after flash to Lollipop !!!!

Good day
I need your help, I just flashed my Note 3 (SM-N9005) with Lollipop 5.0 from sammobile.com
I used odin to do the flash and it ended up successfully pass. Right now, the phone is running with lollipop but it can't detect any SIM card !!!!??
the build number I flashed is for my country and this is the number
N9005XXUGBOEA_N9005OJVGBOE4_N9005XXUGBOD3_HOME.taror
Any hints or help guys??:crying:
Please any help guys
I'm still stuck with this problem, I tried all kinds of ideas after deep searches but non of them work so far
I even rooted my device and tried three custom ROMs but still my note 3 can't detect the SIM card and the IMEI is nul and baseband version is Unknown
any ideas
The issue is you must have chosen the wrong rom for your region. What Country are you in and is your sim from that country?
YOu need to flash a rom based on your CSC and sim ... I've done this a few times before and it always messed up when flashing custom roms, etc. The only way I found to fix it was to flash back to stock rom for my phones original region (ex: if my phone is from Japan, need to flash Japanese official rom for my mobile provider).
That should restore your IMEI and sim card issues.
If you're not sure, you can post back with details of your phone (CSC - region).
thanks for the reply . I can't really tel the exact location or region of my phone. but whe nI look at the box it all written in Bulgarian language.
I will try to flash N9005XXUGNG1_BGL and see what will happen

Note 3 N9005 LTE 4G Doesn't Work, Do I need CSC change?

I've searched the forums and no one seems to have an exact FIX for my issue. So I have a Galaxy Note 3 N9005 32GB black version, the phone works well in 3G, never had an issue with it but now my network provider recently upgraded their plan and offers 4G internet but my phone doesn't want to connect. The provider offers 4G through BAND 1 2100MHz and Note 3 N9005 does have that band but it doesn't want to connect. It only works on 3G and when I enable Mobile Data it says H+! Not once has it connected to 4G!
I wanna mention that my friend has the exact same N9005 phone and his phone works on 4G all the time. Both of us have the same contract with the same network provider!
The only difference between our phones is the CSC region, we have different CSC. MY SIM card works in 4G on his Note 3 and his sim card doesn't work on 4G on my phone. (we exchanged the SIM cards for testing). So the problem is from my phone not from the SIM card. My phone is also original, its not a Chinese clone! Its confirmed with "Samsung Phone Info" app from Play Store.
Here's a few things I already did that some of you may be inclined to recommend to me:
1 - My APN is correctly set
2 - I am on official stock Android Lollipop 5.0 latest version and the phone is not rooted
3 - I already did a factory reset + wipe cache partition
4 - I saw others suggesting that people may not be in the range of a 4G tower! Not the case! Like I said, I switched the SIM cards with my friend on a public bench, out in the open, not even behind walls. Of course and his phone connects to 4G with his SIM card and also with MY SIM card while my phone doesn't connect to 4G with neither of these SIM cards.
5 - In Mobile Networks > Network Mode, my phone is of course already set on 4G/3G/2G (auto connect) and by the way, my friend's Note 3 says LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) instead of 4G/3G/2G with the same language set on both phones. Why?? I know its the same thing and I know 4G stands for LTE and 3G for WCDMA but why does it appear differently on these phones?
6 - I already went to Service Mode via *#0011# and manually selected BAND 1 LTE, it says "no service" or "emergency calls only" if I do that so I switched back to "Automatic"
So what the heck is going on? This phone is giving me headaches! I'm close to smashing my phone! After this I sweared to my self this is the last Samsung phone I ever buy. Probably I will be switching to Asus or Lenovo in the future. Or any other phone that does NOT have this CSC BS! This CSC thing is a complete rip-off!
Im thinking that the problem could be my CSC perhaps?? My friend's Note 3 N9005 has a COA CSC (Cosmote Romania) and I have a XEF CSC (Unbranded France). Both phones are factory unlocked and work in all networks. They are not branded by any phone maker! His COA CSC is unbranded. Yes it belongs to a phone retailer but that retailer doesn't brand their phones, no bloatware, no SIM lock. If you buy a phone from Cosmote (with COA CSC) it works in all networks, unlike Vodafone or Orange who lock their phones and brand them.
What should I do? Should I attempt to change my CSC? If so, how? My phone warranty has expired a long time ago, so I shouldn't care that much about triggering Knox though not triggering it would be preferred.
Which path should I pursue? Should I simply use ODIN and flash a STOCK COA CSC (Cosmote Romania) or STOCK ROM CSC (Unbranded Romania) from SamMobile.com with the latest version of Lollipop? Would this trigger Knox? Will it affect my all networks unlocked status? I mean, I won't have to unlock it after that, right???
OR should I ROOT my phone, change CSC, then UNROOT? If so do you know of any method to root Lollipop 5.0 without triggering Knox?
What do you guys think? Whats the problem with my phone? Why doesn't it work on 4G? Because of CSC? Or is it something else?
Thanks!
The best way to confirm the model # would be to boot into Odin mode and look there.

What do you mean? Can you be more specific? I already told you my model number, its N9005!! Do you want a screenshot?
Dear OP, have you tried the other Samsung secret code? *#2263# then program it to accept LTE only.
That's the only foolproof way to get the Note to connect to LTE. In my country I only get 2-3 of the 5 LTE bars, so the Note wouldn't automatically connect to LTE or immediately stoop down to 3G through the settings. That specific secret code and setting is LITERALLY THE ONLY WAY TO GET MY NOTE 3 TO CONNECT TO LTE IN MY EXPERIENCE.
If that still doesn't get your phone to run LTE, either your carrier is whack or your phone is, and no amount of Cyanogenmod can fix it because your hardware modem inside the phone might be whack and you can't really do anything if that's the case...

I have already explained that there is nothing wrong with my carrier because I switched my SIM card with my friend's phone who has exactly the same N9005 model and it perfectly works on 4G on his phone. The only difference I could find in our phones is the CSC.
As for the other suggestion you sent me, I already said that I've been to SERVICE MODE. The code you've given me does nothing on my phone but as I can see from your screenshots, it gets you to SERVICE MODE. I've already been there through *#0011# switched to LTE/GSM only or LTE/WCMA only and I've explained that it still doesn't do anything.
Can someone please answer me this? Would it help if I change the CSC? Could this be the problem I'm having???

Booting into download mode will confirm the model #. Looking under the ROM's settings is not guaranteed to display the proper model #.
Both phones are running the same ROM, bootloader, and modem?

It doesn't work! just my luck! I entered this code: *#272*IMEI-number# and pressed call button, it says "Connection problem or invalid MMI code."
I just tried it on my Note 2 and S4 and it works. Maybe the phone is not running a multi-csc stock ROM?
I don't have a note 3 to try.

Perhaps the code you gave me only works on older version of Android such as KitKat or whatever you have on Note 2... anyway Im using Samsung Phone Info app from Play Store and my CSC is XEF and under Available CSC Codes there is a bunch of CSC codes. Here I've made a sccreenshot:
From as far as I know there are only 2 ways to change the CSC: root or flash a different stock ROM
Yes, the note 2 has kit kat but the s4 is running stock lollipop.

Well unfortunately the code doesn't work on my phone. Anyway if you know for a fact, could you tell me this? Is it safe to reflash another STOCK rom from sammobile? Will it affect my phone in any way?
Thanks
Yes, it is safe to flash stock ROMs from sammobile.com.
I just flashed a local stock ROM and guess what, when I go to Phone Info app it still shows the same CSC! I still have XEF CSC, how can this be? Why hasn't the CSC change?
After flashing the stock rom, did you try the csc code I mentioned? Same thing happens when I flash a Rogers carrier rom over a Telus carrier rom. Once I select telus as the carrier from the csc menu, the Rogers app will disappear and the Telus app appears.
Ok after further researching I found a lot of interesting stuff so I'm gonna write it all down for other people who may need it in the future.
1 - If you have a multi-CSC phone and you flash a different CSC but which is in your "Available CSC" list but which you cannot choose or change without root, your CSC will NOT change. For example: I have flashed ROM CSC (Open Romania) on my XEF CSC (Open France) and guess what after the flash was successful and all, the CSC didn't change! It was still on XEF because ROM was in my "available list".
2 - If you try to flash a different CSC which is NOT in your list, then Odin will FAIL and softly brick your phone. For example: I got my phone bricked, trying to flash 2 CSCs which are not in my "available list": COA (Cosmote Romania) and DBT (Open Germany). In order to fix this issue all you have to do is to reflash YOUR OWN CSC, in my case it was XEF. Or you can even flash one of those CSC which are "available" or compatible so to say, such as "ROM" for example.
This is the firmware I currently have on my phone:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/61565/N9005XXUGBOK6_N9005OXXGBOJ2_XEF/
These are the two firmwares I tried to flash on my phone, hoping to replace XEF with:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/63441/N9005XXUGBOK6_N9005COAGBOK1_COA/
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/61464/N9005XXUGBOK6_N9005DBTGBOI1_DBT/
BOTH FAILED in Odin!
There are ONLY 2 ways to change the CSC on newer Samsung phones. Most guides online are based on KitKat 4.4 or older guides but for 5.0 Lollipop or even NEWER there are ONLY 2 ways to change your CSC:
1 - Root your phone and change the CSC. There are plenty of guides on how to do that online.
2 - You can avoid rooting your phone and use Odin instead, BUT accompanied by your stock firmware, you will also have to find and use a PIT file because Samsung as of 5.0 Lollipop uses different partitions for all the different regions. HOWEVER messing with PIT files is super risky and it can permanently brick your phone so its just better to root your phone instead! Dont waste your time trying to flash different regions/csc which is not in your available csc list, it won't work!
What can I say? Samsung is trying hard to block their users from changing their CSC... Why? They prefer their users buy new phones. Its pure greed yes but its what it is... For me, this was the last Samsung phone I ever buy. Im truly disappointed.

Can't find the same version

Hello
My girlfriend and i both have an s7 edge. She has a different stock rom then there is on my phone. We have both the same provider (proximus).
She already has the option 4glte to make calls.
I would like that option to so i'm trying to find her rom to flash it on my phone. The problem is i can't find it on the internet. Not even on sammobile.
The baseband version of her phone is G935FXXU1BPHJ and the buildno is MMB29K.G935FXXS1BPK1.
Can someone find this and please post a link here?
I already put her simcard into my phone , still no 4glte.

And on her phone i see this :

So it's now only the product code , the firmware csc code , the active csc code , csc country and mobile operator that are wrong. The rest is now all the same.
Can i set the active csc code also to PRO? And without rooting? And will the volte work than ? Or are there some other steps i need to do?
yes, switch the csc to pro and then make sure your phone is registered with your provider and it should work.
This is my first international phone because I wanted the latest Samsung phone and have the ability to root.I live in the US. So I am still learning about the different firmwares and csc code.
That's my problem. I can't seem to find out on how to change it to pro.

You'll need to root, then use the Phone Info app which has a built-in CSC changer which can change it to PRO, however keep in mind the rooting will void your warranty and the change of CSC will reset your device to factory settings.
Is it not possible to do it without root?
Sm-g935fzbuxsg cant find dis stock rom helpp
Hello ive tried to root my s7 edge and successfully works, and for some reason, i turned off the oem unlock in dev options. The time comes when my phone got empty, so i quickly tried to charge it but it stuck on s7 edge logo and has a red font above saying "custom binary block by frp lock" i managed to get through it by flashing stock rom from sammobile but on the first boot, my s7 edge was so laggy and cant even make a simple home button it takes so much time for keys to function and there are popping up errors "com.sec.epdg has stopped" and " IMS Service has stopped" and in notifications bar saying "upgrading android/updating android" something like that. luckily i be able to turn it off and go for factory data reset. but after setting the phone, my settings got messed up like theres 2 application, 2 device maintenance and and other additional settings like t roaming, service provider which i dont see on my settings before it all messed up. I also realize that i cant find the fast charging settings which explains why its not so fast when i do charging. Can anyone please help me? You think i flash the wrong stock rom? My original product code is SM-G935FZBUXSG and i cant seem to find it in sammobile. sorry for my english but any help would be so much appreciated.
Btw, my phone was bought from UAE and im pretty sure that my model number is SM-G935FD. My phone is dual sim. However, when i chose the SM-G935FD category in sammobile, i noticed that there were no UAE country, so i choose to download the stock rom coming from vietnam because at the box of the phone it says manufactured in vietnam so i think thats what pushed me to download it. please help

Galaxy s7 edge weird issue?

Hy all! This is my first thread.
And so sorry for my english.
So I bought a galaxy s7 edge (g935f) from the internet and it has a lot of weird issue...first this phone is a single sim t-mobile (hungary) version, but the software says this is a dual SIM version (935FD) I flashed a full-wipe 4 file from with Odin but after that the problem is still there. If I go to the ONE I menu the first imei is the phone's own imei, but the second imei is just a lot of zeros.
My second problem is that the wireless connections doesn't works.
The Bluetooth can't find any BT devices and the Wi-Fi is recognize only the 5ghz networks.(2.4ghz networks are invisible)
Is it possible to get this phone back to normal?
Is it should work if I try to reinstall the phone with smart switch? That app is download firmware that is match with the phone original carriers Rom.
Thanks in advance.
If the phone is the dual sim one (SM-G935FD) flashing the BTU ROM from SM-G935F (single SIM model) or the INU ROM from the SM-G935FD, it'll detect the second SIM slot that also works as microSD card.
By detecting it, it seems you have an G935FD...
try flashing one of those ROM's I have mentioned above with ODIN and do full wipe of the phone.
That will probably solve everything

Where did you get your phone from? Better return it...
