N9005 - LTE Problem - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello geniuses!
Before anyone asks, I have already tried the search function and was unable to get any pertinent results!!
I have a n9005 unbranded factory unlocked phone that I purchased through a retailer in Singapore. I absolutely love this phone it is such a beast!
However, I am having a problem with the handset. I am with telus up here in Canada and I am unable to connect to their LTE network. I called customer service to ensure that LTE is enabled on my plan and it is. I am getting HSPA+ speeds and I am able to make voice calls just fine, but I bought this phone thinking I would have LTE enabled on it.
Now from my understanding, the snapdragon 800 chipset has LTE bands that support numerous networks. However, since this is a phone from Singapore it may only have Singapore LTE bands enabled. Is there a way to change it so that it recognizes Canadian bands, more specifically Telus' LTE network?
I read that by flashing a new modem or csc I would be able to get LTE speeds, is this the case? If so, can some one guide me in the right direction on how to do this as I am a complete noob!
Thanks everyone!:fingers-crossed:

Did I not just answer a similar thread about someone with the *exact* same issue with a handset from Hong Kong?
Singapore uses the 1800 and 2600 LTE bands, Telus only the 1700 band. You're using a phone that doesn't even see your LTE band...

Yes I understand that...
That's why I asked if it's possible to flash a different modem on the phone that will enable the 1700 band?

Does anyonr knows how to flash firmware or modem then I will be able to activate lte on my note 3
Thank you

if u havea 4g enabled device such as note 3 model number n9005 then u can use 4g untill its frequency is not supported.... the supported frequencies are not software based.. the are hardware based andcannot be changed.... note 3 n9005 supports LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 and note3 n900w8 supports LTE 700 / 1900 / 2100 ... if ur carrier transmits on frequency other than these then us device is useless.... many people buy these devices only because it has 4g but they arenot even aware of supported frequencies so u all must research properly before buying.... PLY PRESS THANKS IF MY POST HELPED U...:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Shv-e300s + lte!!?

Hi,
I'm about to get SG-S4!!
I read through the forum, didn't find a sold answer if SHV-E300S with Exynos 5 (Octa) will work with LTE in US!
Can anyone please let us know...
Thanks
It won't, the bands aren't supported. It won't work in the EU either.

If you want to:
-Pay 200 dollars more expensive(import tax + local seller commission)
-Have a bigger size(korea version is thicker than us one) and have stupid korea restriction(sms limitation, etc...)
-Take a phone who only support Korea 4G frequency and imcompatible with all other country
You can surely go for this version. No problem!!!

Hi, since you have the korea version, please show us more pictures about its size, what difference does he have other than the fact he get overclocked processor and compatible LTE? Some physical difference? Bigger than us one? Thicker? Some restrictions? Do you mean that with your app, you can use 4G LTE in the US and in other countries? Also where did you buy your phone? How much does it cost? Thank you.
The overclocked processor settings was dropped before it's release. It's now 4 cores at 1.6 and 4 cores at 1.2. I'm guessing because of heat issues.
Just doing a backup will make the phone heat up quick. Plus, the battery life isn't good.
I should have waited two more months before buying a S4.
I too want to have the octa core S4 with LTE to use in the US and don't want to settle for anything less. Some sources say that the S4 Exynos octa-core supports 20 LTE bands, but often responses from people say that the Korean LTE S4 won't work with US LTE bands. Wiki contains some info on the S4 and LTE bands but I'm a noob so it's not clear to me why it is a definite no for LTE in the US.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S4
SHV-E300/ - Korean with 3 variations: K, L and S
K: GSM, DCS
L: CLR, IMT
S: CLR, DCS
GT-I9505 - International version
800, 850, GSM, 1800 MHz, IMT, IMT-E
SGH-I337 - AT&T
700 MHz (Band 17), AWS, IMT, IMT-E
SGH-M919 - TMobile
700 MHz (Band 17), CLR, AWS, PCS, IMT, IMT-E
I'm targetting to use the S4 on Tmobile LTE. So according to that info Tmobile supports 6 LTE bands, some of which are also listed under the K, L and S variations of the Korean S4. To me that sorta implies that Tmobile LTE would work, but then I'm a noob and not sure how that works out. I don't know how reliable the Wiki info is so it'll be great to know. I've also seen sources that say the Korean S4 supports LTE bands 1/4/7/17. The info are scattered around and carriers don't specifically release these info so that makes things even harder.
But assuming the wiki info is reliable, if you can explain how it works or not work would you please enlighten the rest of us. Thanks.

Galaxy S 4 Google Edition GT-I9505G no LTE network (Europe) - any workarounds?

So got my new baby, and I love the stock Android UI.
But I got issue connecting to LTE networks here in Germany. A friend of mine bought it in the US store and sent it over to Germany. 3G no problem, but LTE isn't working.
I checked the tech specs, and it says 4G LTE (700, 850, AWS, 1900 MHz). Here in Germany T-Mobile is using Band 3 (1800 Mhz) and Band 20 (800 Mhz) So there is the culprit.
Is this a hardware restriction, or could be solved via software? Maybe flashing a different baseband?
Unfortunatly on the Phone Info screen, you cannot change the GSM/UMTS band. The list is empty. It worked on my Nexus 4 though...
Maybe its possible with a modified modem/radio, dunno it thats correct though and how to do it. There is a radio thread on this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025, check it there.
It might be possible to change the bands using QPST (you won't be able to flash the international modem) there is already a thread on the I337 forums http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291589 that has a tutorial for enable AWS bands on the device. The process should be roughly similar assuming the device's hardware can operate at those frequencies.
If it works you will lose north American bands until you rehash the I9505G configuration back.

[Q] N9000 vs. N9005 frequency bands?

On GSMArena, both phones are listed under the same page with these details:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - all models
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 - N9005
4G Network LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 - N9005
Which are for the N9000? And which for the N9005?
My carrier is using 900Mhz and 1800Mhz for 2G and 2100Mhz for 3G with no 4G yet. Will the N9005 work fine? I prefer to get a LTE-ready phone because I travel a lot.
-EDIT: My sources can't confirm whether the 900Mhz band is supported for 2G or 3G but it should help with basic reception for phone calls either way.

If the phone you are looking at shows 4G bands, then it's N9005. From what you mentioned about the frequencies used by our carrier, the N9005 will work just fine. However, consider the regional lock problem before you buy a grey market device. The phone you buy might be capable of working with your network, but that does not mean it will actually work.

Nah. I'm not going to pay extra money to unlock and unlocked sim-free international phone.
Thanks Samsung for helping me save my money by not buying your ****.
I'm looking for help to find:
1) Which MPN firmware version works on bands 1, 3 8 and 20.
2) Where can I download that MPN to flash it to my N9005.
I found out the hard way that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE/4G N9005, international unlocked model will not necessarily work on the bands which it is compatible with due to a stupid Samsung policy: Samsung locks some bands on their factory unlocked phone!
Absurd and stupid!

Yes, you are right!
I discovered that the N9005:
- Comes in a number of different MPN versions (*)
- Each MPN version is locked to certain radios/frequencies (even though the N9005 phone is a factory unlocked phone).
- Up to a maximum of 6 radios can be set per each version.
(*)
ZKEXSI, ZKEBTU, ZWEBTU, ZIEITV, ZKEITV, ZWEITV, ZKEPHE, ZKEDBT, ZWEPHN, ZKEPHN, ZKATGY... just to mention a few.
I flashed the new 4.4.2 Polish OS (XXUENA6, OXXENA5, XXUENA2) on my N90005 to try to unlock the LTE bands that I'm interested in (1, 3 8 and 20) as I have 2 contracts (Vodafone Italy & Softbank Japan) but I found out that my N9005 will not work with these 2 operators, even though it is compatible.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I've been looking for ways to use my N9005 with Tmobile US but the frequency is different so I don't get and LTE signal. Did you guys find a way if we can add frequencies manually? Or is it really with the hardware?

Good luck!
Your post mentions two different models of S4, so is it a GT-I9505 or SCH-I337M?
In any event, flash the ROM again via Odin. That will likely correct your issue, unless you have a GT-I9505, in which case you'll never get LTE.

My GT -I9505 has also LTE

@Joku1981: @ludoke: The phone has LTE but doesn't have the right LTE bands to function in North America, which is where I live. The lack of LTE is something I've discussed before.
I guess I earned you guys jumping on me for assuming the OP had an I337M and posting on that assumption. That's what I get for being up so late.

But I got 4g before the update. I checkt my carriers lte band which is number 20. I dialed *#2263# and i have band 20 under Lte option. But it doesnt connect to it. Lte discovery shows me just unkown lte band. By the way i am in Denmark so Europ. My device is Globa unlocked.
We have two conversations going on in the same thread. Sorry.
My device is an I9505. I live in the United States. As the I9505 doesn't have the correct bands I don't get LTE. The two gentlemen who replied to me loved the fact my initial post wasn't crystal clear, and my reply you quoted was directed at them, not you.
You have an I337M, meaning you should have LTE. The question is why you don't. I understand your phone was completely functional before the upgrade? What carrier are you using, and was this an OTA update?
EDIT: One additional thing. Have you taken a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att and seen if anyone else has encountered this problem?

- Three bands are used for 4G(LTE) in Denmark. TDC has access to the 800 and 2600 MHz bands. Telia/Telenor shares network and has access to 800, 1800 and 2600 MHz bands. 3 (Hi3G) has access to 1800 and 2600 MHz bands.
- Your device SGH-I337M use this bands for 4G (LTE 700MHz (Band 17) / 850MHz (Band 5) / 1900MHz (Band 2) / 2100MHz (Band 1) / AWS (Band 4) / 2600MHz (Band 7).
* You have to have 4G in the 2600Mhz band. Did you try to backup your internal data and make a factory reset (Settings > Accounts > Back Up and Reset > Factory Data Reset > Reset Device > Delete All/Erase Everything)?

Yes after i flashed the new roms. This are my bands:
This phone has been modified from the original specs in that the bands were reprogrammed in the LTE chip. The I337M should have bands 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 17. The I9505 should have bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, and 20. The bands for the two models were combined into one for this phone, and band 1 discarded. Where did you get this phone?
I got it over ebay. It said international unlocked. What can I do??

Return it to the seller for a refund. I'd say get a S4 off Swappa, but I'm not sure if Swappa is available in whatever country you are in. As to the 4G indicator, was it just "4G", or did it say "4G LTE"? In North America it makes a huge difference as in North America, HSPA+ was marketed as 4G service. When LTE became available, it was marketed as 4G LTE.
This is only speculation, but after the update, based upon your language settings, the phone also changed its signal indicator from "4G" to "H+", meaning you never had LTE in the first place.
It was just 4G but it was much faster than now!!!!

Is there now way to fix this??? I don't want to resent it cause it cost a lot from Denmark to the us
Sent from my SGH-I337M using XDA Free mobile app
There's no way to fix it. The seller clearly read the article on XDA about adding LTE bands to the phone, tried it, and got the bands to register in the service menu. However, the bands are hard-coded into the chip itself and cannot be changed. I know, as I tried it and ended up temporarily losing my SIM unlock because of it.
Your options are these:
1. Return it to the seller.
2. Sell it yourself on eBay.
3. Use it as is.
But that still doesn't explain why I had 4G before and it was a way faster than my Internet is now

N9005 using T-mobile US Sim (help)

Maybe someone posted this but I can't seem to find any when I searched for it here.
I have an N9005 note 3 and I'm using a T-mobile sim card. I can't get an LTE signal because t-mobile has a different frequency according to the customer service I spoke with.
Is there in any way that I can get an LTE signal from t-mobile?
I would highly appreciate any help.
On AT&T in some areas you can get LTE.

I'm not sure if you got a definite answer on this, but surprisingly T-Mobile's service rep was actually correct. I'm shocked!!! Lol
You won't be able to get true LTE on that device with T-Mobile. The N9005 doesn't support LTE Band 4 which is what Tmo uses.
