Has anyone bought the (at&t or T-mobile) version because of the back buttons were different than the Verizon version but than used the phone on Verizon service?
i want to continue using Verizon but there version of the lg g2 sucks!.
is it possible to use the one of the other versions on Verizons service?
if i can is there any bad sides to doing so?

Haha well I can get use to the buttons on the back that Verizon has but the other versions just look so much better. I don't use wireless charging either

Technically you should be able to use it since they are world phones and have radios for both GSM and CDMA. The problem you are going to have is getting Verizon to allow it. AT&T and T-mobile will allow you to use your Verizon phone on their network. All you have to do is give them the MEID. They will even provide the APN settings for you if you ask and they are on their website.
Verizon however, is reluctant to allow ESNs that are not on their list. Same with Sprint. It isn't impossible, but you will have to jump through some hoops. There are forms to be filled out, similar to the one's to reinstate an ESN that has been flagged. It's been a while, but I believe you're looking at about a 3 week wait to see if it's approved, if they even allow you to submit the forms. I know people that have moved their Sprint phone over to Verizon, but in the end, they all agreed that it wasn't worth the hassle and they would never do it again.
EDIT: Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not 100% sure if the AT&T and T-mobile versions have CDMA and LTE antennas. Verizon's version has them all. It doesn't really make sense for Verizon's to get GSM antennas while the other's don't get CDMA or LTE. Then again, Verizon's was a modified version to allow wireless charging, so it wouldn't be out of the question.

You can't use the ATT or Tmo versions on sprint or vzw. Different radios.

I would quite prefer the vzn version with metal buttons they are smaller button but I hadn't touched the buttons outside of booting from off and vol up occasionally

Thanks for clarifying. I looked it up myself. The AT&T and T-mobile versions lack CDMA 900 and LTE 13. Makes sense since the new nexus also skips the same bands thanks to Verizon being money grubbers.

another reason to believe that Sprint GN2 may not have SIM slot.
We already know that previously Sprint Photon Q (made by Motorola) have SIM internally and unremovable. Now we know that there is another Sprint device Optimus G (made by LG) that will have the exactly similar design as far as SIM slot goes. (source here)
With the previous picture purposely a leak of Sprint GN2 device showing no SIM slot, this is likely to be a Sprint own evil doing.
And BTW I'm one very pissed about this. I 'll definitely sending a snail mail to Sprint Executive Office about how pissed I'm as a consumer regarding turning an international capable device into useless crap once the device come out. I go to Thailand every year or so to visit family member and when I am there I would definitely want to use SIM there because of the local number I can use. With unremovable SIM this is no longer possible. I'm very disappointed.
That's sucks, although I don't go over seas that much.. It would be nice to have. Tell them you Ben kohn bah and your red shirt friends don't approve of this.

Unfortunately most sprint users including myself really don't care that much although it would be great to have definitely not a deal breaker for most and most won't care. I feel your pain as I do go over seas but I don't use my sprint phone for over seas as I use my dumb phone a flip phone unlocked cheapo for traveling. But I'm in ur corner for *****in and moaning hopefully one day it will be different either way just get the damn device in stock and I'm happy

It appears that this is the route they are going now. I wonder why that is? Does using the embedded SIM force you to use a Sprint International plan, for out of country use?
pardon my ignorance, but isn't the "international" version GSM...and sprint's, obviously gonna be CDMA? and as such, no SIM card?

You're right, but some CDMA phones have radios that support at least EDGE on GSM so you can still text and make phone calls overseas (and if you unlock, you could run them on Tmo and AT&T).
However, the question is if the radios will even support the EDGE GSM bands... probably not though.

All of Verizon's LTE phones have a SIM card slot and all of their recent phones also have GSM/HSPA radios for global roaming. I believe some can even run on T-Mobile and ATT's frequencies if you are lucky. But LTE will be Verizon only.

my guess Is That and it decreases fraud. I.e. new accounts created simply to obtain discounted phones that can be used overseas ...then the accounts go bad

I don't use Sprint, so I don't know for a fact, but don't their phones usually only run on CDMA (I've only ever heard of Verizon CDMA "world-phones")
I know that the old Touch Pro 2(wm6) and Photon 4G both have dual GSM/CDMA chip in them and they both have SIM slot.

The significant isn't about whether it have SIM or not. I mean for most people in the US I think we can get by w/o it. I mean it's like once every year or two that people would go outside the country and can make use of it. So it wouldn't be like a final decision whether to get one w/ or w/o SIM. And you are right there are also AT&T and T-mobile. But I can say the for some people it's about the network in their local, while for other it may simply be about not going back to the service they have bad experience with. To me it's about cost, since I'm a Sprint SERO Premium account owner. But very, it's more about why walking the low path? The phone would have been technically capable of it, the chipset, modem, antana support it. This is more about why purposely redesign it to lock it down to a specific network, greed, basically.

Yes, the Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 most certainly had a SIM card slot. I had a few of them before making the jump to android with my EVO 4G. It was a nice feature to have on a "Business" phone, which is what the TP2 was geared towards. The productivity of the Note 2 also can be geared for Business users, a SIM slot would be of great use.

Apparently Verizon figured out how to do it properly as they previously have had CDMA, but now allow removable SIM cards for their LTE world-phones. Sprint is now the only provider that locks their phones down like this- it's very frustrating. I am paying for a brand new device that is inherently compatible as a world-phone, but I must buy a separate device to use over seas so that I don't get raped with Sprint's international calling/data plans. RIDICULOUS! These kind of tactics are out of the apple playbook- limit the options of your customers, so you can squeeze em.

There is currently no GSM sim unlock for the SPH L720 for GSM carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, and straight talk. So how did you sim unlock it? Or do you have a different model of the S4 and not know it? Thanks because if we know how you sim unlocked it we could test the method then help you with your data issues. Also try adding a straight talk apn to see if that fixes the data issue.

I would personally stay away from Straight Talk. Had them for 6 months, worst service I've ever had. They really did suck... And they throttle you hardcore. Honestly they are the reason I switched to Sprint. Also Straight Talk is a GSM network. Not really sure if they support CDMA, I know it was in talks a few months ago.
Straight talk pulls of Verizon as well the iPhone 5 through them runs on Verizon. You can flash the hones over but it requires a imei switch on the device which is extremely illegal.

Is your Sprint L720 GSM unlock? as Straight Talk cannot support CDMA device?
From my understanding straight talk has deals with every major carrier. My mom had a st lg that was pretty much a boost phone.

why call bs? he used a st donor phone and modified his imei just like everyone is doing for other prepaid options.

It was BS when he said straight talk carriers all four major providers Straight Talk is GSM and only carries T-Mobile and they used to carry AT&T Sims FACT.
Yes you can do a MEID swap not a IMEI swap (both are very very illegal this phone can't be imei swamped only meid swapped) because the Sim lock on this phone is integrated in the modem, phone app, settings, and deep deep in the system and hidden menu. So this can't be done yet but I still have faith because I want to test HSPA+ on this phone.

Only in certain areas they sell CDMA phones in most areas they sell GSM through T-Mobile only with bring your own device it allows unlocked CDMA devices but this phone is locked down hard on the CDMA and GSM side.

Say I buy this phone from T-mobile, would it work on Verizon? My vz phone uses a micro sim as well, but I know there are different bands the carriers run off, and gsm vs cdma and such. But some phones work on both types, correct? Is this one of them? I really don't like the look of the verizon version...

The phone is a world phone which means you can put in any gsm SIM card and it will work with the Bands that the phone is equipped with. I have used it on T-Mobile and metropcs successfully so far.
Also the area is greyed out because Verizon doesn't have a gsm network for cellular use. Yet. Their LTE is deployed over gsm but it is data only.

The phone would come carrier locked so if you pop a sim card in from say TMobile then the phone still wont work. However if you were to unlock the phone (currently illegal last I heard, might change in a year or so though) it should theoretically work on ATT and TMobile and other GSM networks, although you may or may not have to manually input APN settings to get the network data working. The stock Verizon ROM though may also not include drivers for activating those radios bands wither, IDK if that is something they would do or not. All the versions of this phone use the Snapdragon 800 chipset, which has built in radios that can hit basically any network's frequency in the world.

This is completely and I mean completely wrong! ALL VERIZON LTE PHONES ARE UNLOCKED...... Which is why they are called world phones because you can,travel the world with them switching SIM cards and still have Verizon. I personally have done this with gs4, note2, droid maxx, motox, and now the lgg2

Well at most only a small part of what I said is wrong so thanks for trying to correct me in in a very dickish way. Unfortunately you are also wrong, not all Verizon phones come unlocked from them.

All verizon LTE devices are unlocked out the box... wasn't being a. .... despite your assumptions the gs3 is unlocked so is all their world phones. And I never said all their phones were unlocked I stated all lte devices which are world phones are unlocked out the box. I currently have every phone that has come out since the gs3 and all work on T-Mobile with no call to verizon. But I am not going to argue about it. I broke my sprint phone, but I can upgrade to a new phone now on Sprint. I want to use the Sprint One Up Plan for a bit, then leave the contract since I don't believe it has a contract. I plan on using the G2 as my replacement. I want to move to T-Mobile later, and I know the G2 can be used on Sprint. I also have read here that the G2 comes factory locked by Sprint, and Sprint will one unlock it for international use. Is there something that I could flash to the G2 to allow me to use it on T-Mobile when I switch?
Basically, how can I use domestic USA GSM on a Sprint LG G2?
I will at least root and unlock the phone internationally first anyway, since I need to use outside of the country. Flashing ROMs and things like that is not a problem for me.

No this will not work at all.. T mobile and Sprint G2's are completely different.. If you want to move to T mobile, move.. Otherwise stay with sprint!

Anyway, I know the G2 supports all of the bands, so I don't see why this can't happen. Sprint has just locked away the domestic GSM capabilities. Why is flashing theT-Mobile modem such a risk then? WOuld I be able to flash it back?

Sorry always get that bavkwards the issue is with two things the radio, which you said you could flash the modem no problem. Then the biggest issue is the sim card now im not sure if the sprint variant has a sim card slot. But from what my buddy has told me who is a tmobile phone tech they dont have away to enable your service with out the sim card. For some reason they dont do their services like most carriers and just use the phones imei number to set service. If im wrong im sorry and hopefully you can get everything switched. And thank you for the imformation i did not know the g2 has all bands hidden inside the phone. I was just worried that the radio bands would get you. And to answer your question yes you can always just flash them back.

Sorry always get that bavkwards the issue is with two things the radio, which you said you could flash the modem no problem. Then the biggest issue is the sim card now im not sure if the sprint variant has a sim card slot. But from what my buddy has told me who is a tmobile phone tech they dont have away to enable your service with out the sim card. For some reason they dont do their services like most carriers and just use the phones imei number to set service. If im wrong im sorry and hopefully you can get everything switched. And thank you for the imformation i did not know the g2 has all bands hidden inside the phone. I was just worried that the radio bands would get you. And to answer your question yes you can always just flash them back.

No problem. If I helped give me my first thank you. I'm going to go to the Sprint Store soon and see what they say. The Nexus 5 seems to be compatible with any carrier, but I like the G2 just a bit better. Sprint has a help topic regarding replacing the SIM , so that is not an issue. Hopefully someone else can tell me if the G2 can have a different modem flashed.
I don't want to take any unneccessary risks flashing, because that is what broke my last two Sprint phones lol.

Ok so i was wrong it looks like the spring g2 does have a sim spot so all you have to do is 1 get unlock.from sprint 2 flash required firmware and modem and radio files 3 go tothe phones dailer and dail*#*#4636#*#*. This will bring up the menu shown inscreen shot. Switch your current band from evdo to what is shown in the screen shot and bam sprint branded tmo phone if i help at all pls return the favor with the thanks.

So where do I get the files? And can you confirm this has a good chance of succeeding?
It will not work.. Sprint doesn't unlock the phone for domestic US GSM carriers and the 2 models for Sprint and T-Mobile are completely different. You flash anything like the radios and you'll have a massive brick. If you want to move between carriers, get the Nexus 5.

As far as the files go I can search here for a thread. And I'm sorry man I will not confirm for you the chance of success because any thing can happen but before you do any thing I recommend you talk to both sprint and tmo in your area
You will not get domestic GSM service with Sprint atm. Hang it up until a solution if any will come. Even after that, it will never be fully compatible with Tmob bands. I love/hate Verizon.

They said and i quote just call customer service and have them unlock the phone. Once the phone is unlocked you can flash to a different carrier but you have to know what your doing.

Well I may just do that, or now I could go with T-Mobile. They are buying out 2-year contracts now (a.k.a they pay your early termination fee). That is sweettttttt!

Yeah man I have tmo and I love them but if you go to tmo make sure to sign up for jump because the lg flex has been confirmed for the US plus you get free lookout premium and insurance
