Seems to be a lot of confusion whether the octa-core version will have LTE so if anyone could advise that would be much appreciated and for reference the qualcomm S600 definitely has LTE.

If that were the case they should still be able to licence under FRAND, since it's a standards essential patent, right? If not, that's quite a monopoly on the US LTE market. Plus, what would that mean for Tegra4 devices? At any rate, I'm so sick of hearing about patents in the consumer electronics (specifially smartphones) sector. It's out of hand and needs dealth with properly.

BUT, I don't think that band 5 is used by anyone here in the US. Band 5 is used by Philipines/S.Korea.

Just to clarify, International S4's will have LTE.
US ones have quad core snapdragons probably just for supply issues, like last year (the Note 2 is exynos, quadcore (same processor as the S3) and had LTE).

I heard rumours that the octa-core international one bound for the UK would be 3G only and only the quad core S600 would have LTE enabled which seemed very odd to me.

I am pretty sure they will all be LTE enabled, we will wait and see.
i cant imagine them releasing a phone thats not LTE in the states.....that would be the worst move in the history of phones....
Germany will get the 600 too. Apparently all the markets that have 4G LTE won't get the octa.
In Indonesia get octa and 600 and the news says that both of them get LTE :screwy::screwy:

Just because it HAS LTE, doesn't mean it's the RIGHT LTE bands. Keep that in mind. Also, Note 2 does not have a 5 series processor.... It's an A9, not A15....

I thought all models would have 4G now ._.
Why can't Samsung make one chipset that supports for all countries. I don't have a great knowledge in chip designing. But i am always curious to know why different chipsets are needed for LTE. Why Exynos is not compatible with LTE (USA LTE). How is the scenario with iphone, iphone 5 is in India too. Does it have a different chipset from USA's ?

Well.. I don't think that problem is into Main chipset.
The galaxy s3's Exynos 4412 processer supports LTE. but samsung released by 3G version. I don't know why is itand also, samsung released korean galaxy s4 version by LTE with Exynos again

Also with Note2 , Samsung launched with One Exynos processer chipset worldwide, same phone, just different modem and radio files.
I thought Samsung did sortout LTE band issue.

Samsung will do the same sh*t with the S4 as they did with the S3.
3 months after releasing the S3 i9300 in Australia they released the S3 4g i9305. Helps boost sales to suckers like me.
This time they'll probably release the i9505 lte snapdragon version then a few months down the track claim they found a way to get 4g working on the Octa and probably release a i9510.

Was this exynos lte variant released on all the major carriers? More in particular was it released for at&t?
exynos for note 2, im guessing they were able to fit in a LTE chip due to the size of the phone 5.5
since the s4 keeps the s3 form factor, plus almost 1mm thinner, there was no way they couldve included lte with the exynos.
Plus they are having manufacturing issues with the exynos, so by fall when the note 3 launches, it shouldnt be a issue.

Not sure but I believe in the US they stayed the same dual core models. In some overseas markets where the international model was sold they then introduced the quad core lte model (i9305).

Samsung and Qualcomm clock speeds are not directly comparable.
Although different, I'd say the difference in performance is negligible.
I believe the version that is sold in a particular country depends on regional marketing decision, notably the purchasing power and LTE coverage in respective country.
For example, here in SEA, Singapore and Malaysia get the Snapdragon LTE version (most expensive), while Indonesia gets Exynos non-LTE version (least expensive).
On the bright side, you get the most affordable version of Note 3.

Yes did my bit of reading EXYNOS OCTA CORE is the announcement but what we are essentially getting is EXYNOS QUAD CORE.. the A7 CORE Is yet to be integrated....A7 is where the power efficiency comes from.....
Samsung had released list of counties that would be getting Snapdragon and Exynos. Personally I would like the Exynos as it would be getting update that will enable it to run all the cores at the same time.
I think the exynos could save up more battery because of the octa core processor.
For me this is the most important part. But I've a snapdragon because they only sell this

wrong! there will be no update which enables to run all 8 cores simultaneously, this won't fit in the thermal design envelope of the device!

I think this has more to do with profit margin of Samsung. Exynos being cheaper to produce. And not the purchasing power of consumers. If you look at the market, places where Snapdragon is released, people buy in subsidy paying $200. And places where Exynos is released, people buy paying the full price around $700 or more.
Samsung misleading...
SO i guess Samsung should be selling it as Exynos Quad core rather than Exynos Octa core
I guess its high time loyal Samsung users see thru this and look for alternatives.....

So I'm really confused here. I'm planning on getting the Note 4 when it comes out and here in Europe, I get to choose between the Exynos model (64-bit) and the Snapdragon 805. So is 64-bit really THAT important for Android L? I don't really care about development support for the Snapdragon 805, I just want the more powerful device. Both versions will feature an LTE modem only the Snapdragon one is Cat6 and the Exynos one is Cat4. In my country LTE is just starting to roll out so that doesn't make any difference for me. Should I get the Exynos model because it's 64-bit?

don't get your hopes to high about 64 bit CPU. From the screenshots of the Exynos Note 4 CPU uses ARMv7 instruction set and for the 64 bit functionality ARMv8 is required. So looking at this and lack of any official work from Samsung I highly suspect that it will be 32 bit CPU with more cores. Also it doesn't make sense to release two so different CPU version since the Exynos version will be eligible for Android L update, but Snapdragon will not(or at least it was the rumor that Android L will work only on 64 bit CPU)

It looks like a substantial victory, sometimes >30% in some benchmarks for the Exynos. Does the Mali GPU similarly dominate over the new Adreno?
My big concern is the development of the Exynos vs the Snapdragon; concerned that there maybe CyanogenMod and AOSP based ROMs might have issues with the Exynos version (they had difficulties I remember with the Note 2)? Samsung I remember had really poor documentation for its Exynos SOCs, which could be an issue.

What carrier are you on? Any idea if the Exynos version will work on Wind Mobile?
To be honest, this phone seems underwhelming in some ways. The Note 4 did not offer water proofing and it was not a huge upgrade over the Note 3 specs-wise. Plus the lack of ARMv8 instruction set SOCs ...
But the issue is there really isn't much competition in the Android phablet space these days. The One Plus One is unobtainable for most of us and well the others are not on par with the Note.

I'm with Fido, probably will have to get unlock Note 4 once it will reach Canada. But assuming that Wind Mobile has Note 3 its highly likely Note 4 will come to the Wind Mobile as well, maybe with some delay though.
All the great things about better performance of Exynos vs Snapdragon is awesome of course, however will you really notice the difference in usage ? I have SGS3 international which I compared to the north america's dual core didn't see much difference in performance of everyday tasks. In addiction to that most of the places don't have LTE-A so snapdragon is pretty much has no gain in network speed and will perform the same as Exynos(at least in Canada where we have only LTE network)
So now the question really is whether its worth going through the pain of getting international Note 4 region locked, deal with it , pay extra $$$ for the Exynos which lacks 64 bit instruction set and in terms of everyday performance you won't notice the difference ?

Instruction set ARMv7 is in ARM Cortex A53 and ARM Cortex A57. I have been play with HTC Desire 510 64bit for a while in shop. Installed Antutu and it show ARMv7 in details.
ARMv7 is read from OS as Android 4.4 is 32bit.
IF Exynos 5433 is 64 bit, we will have more with Android L

I don't know about Canada but here in Europe I get to choose between the both models if you're not buying it from a carrier. Last year for the Note 3, the Snapdragon one was just a little bit more expensive than the Exynos model.

last two galaxies that I owned I got from online store ... so depends what you call wildly expensive, but definitely it will cost you some extra $$$. Does any one know which region Exynos version will belong ? from the website that I got my international SGS3 they told me that most likely they will get Snapdragon edition .....

There are barely any states that supports Cat6. Most don't even support Cat4. Take a look at this:

If you look at the dates you can see that many countries are only now receiving Cat3.

I bought my unlocked International Note 2 from Expansys.ca and it was at least $100 cheaper than the carriers, including priority shipping.
I'm likely going to do the same with the Note 4.

Please let me know when you get an answer.
For my Note 2 there was no carrier branding, other than the Samsung logo on the top of the device and on the back. Worked like a champ on Virgin Mobile, but this model (N-7100) doesn't have LTE. It'll be nice to have it on the Note 4!
From experience from having exynos galaxy phones and the same phone with snapdragon I always found the snapdragon phones to be more reliable and have less delay but when I had the exynos S4 the camera sensor and audio chip was better (wolfson vs qualcomm). This was important for me but I will not get a exynos phone again as Qualcomm in my opinion are the leaders in Chipset. 801 being a let down though due to overheating!
I've had this device for a bit now and had some time to evaluate it. I used the Snapdragon model in stores to try it out and the Exynos feels faster than that, which is saying a lot because the Snapdragon model is pretty fast. Benchmarks put the Exynos ahead by 25-30% (6500 on Geekbench vs 5000, real-world speed test has the Snap device finishing in 2:41, Exynos at 2:03, etc.) Plus this version of touchwiz was optimized for the Exynos model.
I notice these forums aren't as populated as the carrier models. Why do you think the International version isn't more popular?

I heard the Exynos had more LTE bands that's why it's for the international models. Did you mean something else, correct me if I am wrong.
I ordered the exynos will get it tomorrow from Amazon. Going to use it on att. My 5x will be my flashing phone and for the n preview

Exynos doesn't support CDMA.

Thanks for letting me know. I am surprised that all carriers in Canada has the Exynos version as some of our carriers run on CDMA instead of GSM. Since the Exynos version seems to have the unlocked boot loader, and since Samsung has released the source, this might be the first time where Exynos will be better for developing. Let's at least hope

The Edge 935F exynos forum is active. I guess the larger , more expensive model has more folllowers on XDA. I wished the forums were merged like in reddit. With very few exceptions, a discussion about the S7 Edge applies to the regular S7.

Not everyone can drop $600 on a phone. Most of the Exynos ones purchased online do not come with a factory warranty. The SD model normally benchmarks higher in single core power and graphics. The Exynos higher in multi core processing. Each person has a preference. Since the Exynos model isn't a US model your average phone person doesn't even know what it is.

The Exynos supports more LTE bands, but the Snapdragon supports CDMA. Hence why it's used in markets that require CDMA .

None of the Canadian carriers use CDMA. We're all GSM/LTE now. Have been since Telus/Bell cooperated for the 2010 Olympics.
