[Help!]Is it possible to mount S4's internal SDCard in USB mode? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I accidentally deleted some important photos which stored in my S4's internal SDCard. So I connected my phone to PC through USB cable, and plan to run some recovery tools from PC to get them back. However, when connected, my S4's identified as MTP (portable media device) rather than USB Mass Storage, therefore those recovery tools can't do anything.
I googled the net and found some apks that help my phone to switch between MTP/USB mode, however this method only works for external SDCard.
Any ways to retrieve accidentally deleted files? Thank you in advance!
p.s. I do heard about that flash TWRP in will help the PC identify the phone as a USB Mass Storage Device, is this true? If it's true, how do I do it?
Thx!!!

Thanks, but no this was exactly the app I used, it can't mount the internal card. If you read carefully the author also says 'It will never be able to export the internal storage on the device.' All my deleted pics are on the internal card so....

No no, the images are in the internal memory (the memory of the telephone) and i can connect the phone only with ADB (no mass storage or htc sync)!

If you have adb you could try Far Manager 2.0 with FARDroid plugin to see all your filesystem in the phone.
If you are not familar with FAR, pm me if you need help with it.

[Q] corrupted pictures, usb mass storage without root?

when taking pictures with my s4 I typically save them to my micro sd. over the past month I've noticed a ton of some pretty good photos I had now seem to have randomly been corrupted, cannot be opened and are now 0 bytes. I'm going to assume my sd card is toast and I need to replace it.
That being said I don't want to loose the pictures if that can be avoided. I've seen some photo recovery programs out there however they all seem to require usb mass storage which in turn requires root access? I don't want to root my phone though. is there anyway to get usb mass storage without root? or any program that can recover/fix the pics without usb mass storage? or any other suggestions?
Get a usb card reader you connect to your computer and use that. It'll work much better that trying to connect to your phone. You might even find the files aren't corrupted.

Photos recovery without Root, possible?

Hello. I have just deleted my photos and videos from Note 3. I just let delete the whole DCIM directory (thinking it's just one photo that I saw)...
My phone is unrooted. Is there any option to undelete these photos? 6 mounts of living of my 2years son is there.. If there is a way to do it without rooting that's perfect, if not I have to learn how to do it..

No, that is no working. How can I get my photos back? ;/
I found that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2123999
It's for S3. Should it work with Note3?
Maybe there is any easier way?

It should work.
If it somehow successfully allows you to view your phone in disk mode instead of MTP, then you can recover.
I use Piriform's Recuva as well but for other uses.
Recovering when I can see my internal memory as a mass memory in PC is a pice of cake With jpg every program should be fine. The question is how to do the first thing.

MTP =/= Disk mode. You will have to mount your internal storage AS IF you were plugging the chip directly into the computer. Basically a way in which it allows you to format the drive, is the true disk mode. This is entirely different from just plugging in your phone to the computer as this is MTP mode.
If you can get to this stage, then you should be able to. That is what the S3 guide is all about. This is theoretical and an educated guess, if the only thread is the S3 guide then your best bet is from those experiences.
EDIT: Since you have SG Usb Enabler, then try Piriform's Recuva on it.
I know this. I know all of this, I just dont know how to force to have internal storage as a mass storage visible.. I will try later with this solution for S3..
SG Usb Enabler helps only with extrenal SD card.
hmmm any ideas how to do it?

[Q] USB, not sure what this is called

I've tried googling this, I'm finding a thousand articles that aren't related to what I want to do.
I want to plug in my phone via USB and be able to see what is taking up so much room and then transfer those files using my computer.
I don't want to connect it as a media device or camera.
I can't remember how I did that before or if I'm thinking of my old skyrocket.
PS. I booted to recovery mode and plugged it in, it's not recognizing on my computer in recovery mode.
USB Mass Storage was removed by Google in Android 4.1.2.

With the MTP mode (Media Transfer Protocol) you can transfer all types of files
Check the current USB settings with *#0808#
I use the program
http://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free/
But I guess that you can't use that for internal storage. Just USB mounted SD card.

If you can enable USB debugging, you can pull it from the phone. This command pulls whole internal storage to the adb folder.
Code:
adb pull /data/media

From my phone or PC?
PC: 0 files pulled
Phone :device not found
Im on CM11 now.
It would be nice if I can restore a few pics.
There was more than 1000 pictures and now all files are gone.
Would Android not remove the mass storage mode it would be much easier -.-
Mass Storage feature is gone from Android itself, there is one app on the xda, that allows it, but I can't find it right now.
You said you have pictures on your internal storage, now you say they are all gone. What happened?
What do you mean by "From my phone or PC"?
I mean, from which terminal I should start that "adb pull..."
From the phone right?
I was in TWRP and there was an button" format data" or something like that and it formatted everything but I didint read that really.
There is an app which starts with the letter "S" but it´s not for the note 3.
Cant download it from playstore. no support.
Yeah I know, it makes everything very difficult
You are at dead end unless you find a good recovery program for Android. I am not familiar with those so I am unable to give advice on this.
I dont try anyome.
I can live without that pictures I think
But thanks for your help.
Damn MTP
