I'm planning on just plugging it in every night like my other devices. I use my tablet a lot every day though. With light use I could imagine only needing to do it every other night.

I charge mine overnight but I am constantly using it.

I don't think it's necessary to turn it off. It should drain very little battery when the screen is off

How is the battery life ?

Everywhere I read about this phone, I don't see it mention the battery life. With a big battery there should be some baterry review.
Galaxy S II has 4.3" screen and 1650 mAh battery,
Galaxy Note has 5.3" screen and 2500 mAh battery.
it looks like Note's battery life is not much but longer than S II
Got mine today.
Charged it to 100% at 7pm.
From then i used it almost all the time with the display on (now it's almost 12pm here)
Batterie has now 75% left.
Looks good...

Stopped charging at 7 a.m. at 100%, surfing, making 2 calls, doing some fun stuff with the pen (drawing, making some videos for youtube to show), playing some Fieldrunners HD, now 40% left.
At home since 4 p.m. and connected to the Wifi hotspot.
This is great news! Thanks for sharing. Hoping to order mine soon.

Sound awesome....
Our battery rundown test (playing a video in a loop starting from a full charge) achieved an impressive 9 hours and 36 minutes, putting the Galaxy Note right into iPad territory.
got mine and will be testing it whole day tomorrow, will update how it turns out

How long does it take to charge from drained to FULLY. I have the the infuse and it takes forever to charge, it is not fast charge like HTC is or any other smartphone. Samsung seems to take forever to charge compared to other Smartphones.

Time to charge will depend on the
1. battery capacity,
2. charger and
3. settings about how fast the battery can be charged
1- no control.
2- chargers are mostly 1mAp . Default charger for samsung gives only 650mAP ( at least in SGSII ) . So u can use a more powerful charger.
3. Kernel changes can be made to make charging faster
Downside of faster charging : Lower battery life in the long run.
Day one with a full charge in the morning.
Ofcourse I used it more than usual, its new you know....
I guess battery life will be sort of the same as the Galaxy S2, about 1 day of moderate use.
I think thats too short, way too short. (had a mophie juice for all my iPhones, and the Samsung S2 official battery pack)
3500 or 4000ma would be so much more convenient..... Room enough in the case of the note I guess.... Who cares about the few extra grams....
My Nokia E61, now that had a battery LIFE.... 3 days was normal...

That makes perfect sense then why your Wifi is on all the time.
If you change it to 'When screen turns off' it should then terminate Wifi when your not using the phone.

It's swings and roundabouts... Which do you value most ~ your battery or your updates!
I leave mine set to when the screen is off, that way I know full well when my screen is off the wifi (which is the biggest killer of battery life) is also off.

[Q] Battery acting strange

Hello fellow Nexus 4 owners,
I recently bought my Nexus 4, and my first impression is great.
Really fast smartphone, absolute butter, great screen and so on..
Now i noticed something strange with my battery.
When the phone is idle when the screen is off, the percentage of my battery doesnt reduce that fast at all.
Now when i use the phone after some time idle, the battery percentage drops like 1-2% instantly.
Example: The phone is idling @ 50% battery, starting to use the phone, the percentage drops to ~48%, and skips 49%.
Now is my question: Is this normal in the first few days (weeks) of the Nexus 4? Will it eventually stop?
Looking forward reading your answers.
~Max
The battery level doesn't show a accurate reading. It's a known bug. I hate it and so does everyone who has experienced it.

Allright, so i'm not the only one having this problem.
Doesn't it have something to do with conditioning the battery? or is that just a myth?

Device idle battery drain???

So I have the AT&T version of this device it's very nice and I love it ! But my device charged to 100% at 10pm or so Thursday night so I unplugged it and let it set while I slept away! Wifi was on and so was mobile data , long story short I woke up and my phone was at 69% and all wake locks were fine and battery info said device idle was main culprit? So has anyone else seen this and know how to make it stay a little closer to the 90% radius? This is way to much to drain on idle ?

Another user mentioned to disable 'Location Reporting', and that has lowered my battery consumption both awake and idle.
Try juice defender, also if you have ktoonsez kernel set the governor to ktoonservitive.

nope, happens like that from stock. It almost seems like my battery lasts longer during the day with slight use then it does @ night believe it or not.
Yep mine to exactly the same I am going to try again tonight with some things changed and I just got update yesterday too maybe it was that
I am running SHOstock ROM and it only drained ~.5% per hour last night.
Lol I did a reboot and its been perfect no must have been something hanging

Put it on airplane mode if you're going to leave it unplugged overnight and are concerned about battery loss
Same thing happened with my phone last night for the first time device idle came up. Phone was in airplane mode, wifi off. One thing that could trigger it is that I've used my phone as a hard drive before laying it off for the night.

Battery issue?

Just purchased myself a second hand S4 and it is a very good device, however whenever I charge to 100% once I take off the charger it goes to 99% within a few seconds and I do not have the data on or using any application. Is it normal or is it time to purchase a new battery?
I heard that turning off features like airview and airgesture can save some juice and also prevent the phone from heating.

When I turn on the data I lose 1% for every one or two minutes. At night when I sleep the phone loses only 5 to 6 % within eight hours. Seems acceptable to me
As long as you're happy with it, it should be ok. If not, change the battery. But it's not always the battery. Sometimes it's the ROM or kernel or other things.
Just got myself an S4 again, the first few days, it was getting very hot and seemed laggy, the battery was draining from 100% to 50% in about 1.5 hours of hardly any use, but it was charging extremely quickly or so its seemed, this one is running official 5.0.1.
So I took the battery out and it was excessively hot and i noticed it had a slight bulge in the centre, did the spin test on a flat surface and it span like a spinning top.
So bought myself another Samsung battery, now over the last few days the phone has hardly heated up and seems to be running so much smoother, battery is very stable in standby mode, still drains quite fast, but no where near as fast as on the old battery, may take a few more days to settle in i guess.
Is it true that one should not only change get the battery when less than 40% or else it will have a bad effect on the battery. I usually keep it on the charger most of the time.

Not sure about current cell phone batteries but my laptop battery died after running pretty much 24/7 on AC power. 1 year later it was so dead it didn't have juice to boot into desktop when not on AC - died just after passing bios tests.
I would say memory effect after not full charge is less severe than killing it completely by keeping it on wall socket most of the time
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Free mobile app
You'd think that laptops would have some sort of charge limiters, by now, that prevents the battery from overcharging.
For stock ROM after charging the phone to 100% .. please don't unplug ..tickle charge still happens .. turn off the screen and wait till LED notification light turns green from red.. only then unplug the charger ..

Great Battery Life

I use my S3 lightly - email - browsing - little stuff when I don't want to use my computer and my phone screen is too small. I leave the power on - so I can simply pick it up and used when I need it.
I am currently at 45 hours - with 90% remaining - and blown away by how well this tablet conserves battery. I am rooted - and I am using a case that puts the tablet to sleep with the cover closed, so that probably helps. BUT, I have never seen this kind of battery life on any of my cell phones over the years...even when I use them lightly like I do this tablet.
I am using it very lightly right now (I use it more when I am traveling) but I just wanted to share for anyone reading this considering getting a new tablet. The Galaxy Tab S3 is a GREAT tablet - wonderful camera, great screen, awesome battery, now I am just hoping someone will offer some development soon - I would love to be able to use Samsung Themes (I tried installing the Samsung themes ap from Apk Mirror (didn't work) and tried researching how to do it and I couldn't figure how to do it.

I turn off Wi-Fi during sleep, and I'm getting excellent battery life as well. Definitely still better than my galaxy tab s did if I leave the Wi-Fi on; but still makes all the difference leaving it off during sleep.

Battery on standby with Wifi switched on is really bad. I lose 10-12% overnight. Switch Wifi off and the battery saver kicks in. I lose 1-2% overnight.
I hope Samsung would push an update to fix the standby/sleep battery drain.

I think Samsung stuck a standard 1A charger in my box, this thing charged fully from 60% from factory new/unopened to 100% in 3 hours. Guess I'm going to have to buy another Choetech charger Is this tablet QC on a full charge or only for the first 30% like some devices?
Thinking of returning mine coz of the wifi bug and going back to my s2.
The latest firmware here resolves the wifi battery drain issue: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-s...3AFA163EE8F90B ! Confirmed 0% drain over 3 hours on standby would have def lost at least 2-3 % by now. Look for BTU firmware T820XXU1AQDC if the link expires.
Battery life, amazing.
Amazing, my Tab S3 was at 100% charge the night before at 20h30. Left it on my desk on standby all night and next morning at 10h20 picked my tab and was amazed to see battery still at 100%, location, Wi-Fi & bluetooth on all the time. So nearly 14 hours on standby.
Now around 20 mins use during the day, and at 17h40, battery was 95%. So 21 hours after, 95% juice left. Well I hope that kind of satisfaction is not short lived.

I take my earlier comment back, aqdc still has the wifi drain bug, very annoying. Also, the new ipad pro makes this look like a joke. We need an 8895 in this tab not useless qualcomm chips.
Please report the wifi issue here to pressure samsung for a fix :

Just had T820XXU1AQF3 pushed to my device via OTA (I am running AQDC for BTU/Britain right now), fingers crossed
No dice, still drains a ton on standby.
Apparently samsung doesnt give two hoots about this device so I strongly advise folks against buying it.

I agree, the battery life on this tab is fantastic. I just picked one up this week and I love it and highly recommended the tablet for many reasons including the great battery life.
