[Q] Change Lockscreen Background? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I haven't been able to figure out how to change the lockscreen wallpaper/background or add any widgets to the lockscreen. From reading "tips and tricks" generally applicable to most versions of the Note 3, it appears to me that Verizon has limited our lockscreen options compared to the other carriers. Has anyone figured out how to do this?
I have to say, this is frustrating, since I'm used to rooting and flashing ROMs that give me so much customization. That said, this phone is a beast!

Settings>Display>Wallpaper
You can change home screen...lock screen or both.
Settings>Lock screen > Multiple widgets...turn on
Success!

That option is only available if you use swipe as your unlock method. Unfortunately, they remove that option when you select any type of 'secure' lock method.

Definitely go for Widgetlocker.
Widgetlocker!!! its brill
Like others have said, Widget Locker is probably the best. It's available for $0.99 in the Amazon App Store and it's one of their best selling apps (that's how I found out about it).
Thanks guys, just got it. agreed its the nuts!
the other little thing pissing me off, cant customise the powercontrol widget.

Yes, it got something to do with homehelper.
Go to advanced settings/homehelper/ and check the boxes for 'Homehelper Block Home & Block Home In Other Apps'.
That did the trick for me.

Same but I want something which works with Samsung's music player's lockscreen widget.
Where I don't need to unlock phone to change tracks, pause /play etc.
Anyone got any ideas???
You can change the background under Settings > Display > Screen display > Lock screen > Wallpaper

WidgetLocker has full widget capabilities. As long as it's a standard widget that can be added through the widget menu, you should be fine to add it to the WidgetLocker screen.

Extended Controls. Market search it. It is the best one you could ever imagine. It does cost, but I bought it (and I am one cheap-skate! ) Great app. Allows you to easily make the powercontrol widget, with a number of themes, or icon packs. Very useful app.
I remember when I bought it, there are a number of different apps that do the same thing. But this one just looked the best at the time, so have a quick read of the info on each app.

How to get an HD Widgets widget on the lock screen of 4.2?

Hey guys, I unfortunately upgraded to 4.2 and want to get rid of that awful clock on the lock screen. From what I've heard, you can get an HD Widgets widget on the lock screen and I want to do so, but I have literally no idea as to how to do so.
Can anyone help?
On the lock screen swipe right until you see the plus sign, tap on it and the unlock your screen the option for HD widget should be there if you have it installed!

When I swipe to the right, the clock tilts, but nothing else appears (the animation is similar to when you try to swipe to a homescreen but the one you're on is the last one, so it just stops).
I have also tried to add HD Widgets to the lock screen but when I swipe all the way to the plus sign it's greyed out and I cannot do anything other than log in. Strange.
Before I installed HD Widgets, I could click the + sign and I had the option to add the clock and a few other widgets.
This baffled me for a bit too.
You have to go into HD Widgets Settings>Widget sizes and enable lockscreen.

Okay, thanks. So I've enabled lockscreen, but when I go to the lockscreen, it still won't let me swipe at all.

Already tried that myself, infact mine was already ticked for tablets, unticked for phones, so perhaps the latest version detects a tablet.
Anyway, this didn't work for me either. I can swipe to the plus sign, then that is about all I can do.

OTA update. And it solved the issue. I had the lockscreen state to disallow widgets. I'm dumb.

[Q] Always go to homescreen with no lockscreen

I don't like to have a lockscreen. Instead, I like to use my homescreen as a lockscreen (in the sense that it displays the time and notifications). However, when you disable the lockscreen, whenever you wake your phone you go to wherever you left off, in the browser for example. Are there any roms or mods that send you to the homescreen whenever you wake your phone without lockscreen? Or could this easily be made, if it doesnt exist already?
CM10.1 has this (I suggest downloading Jellybro, unofficial kang... more features, same stability)
go into settings -> lock screen -> security -> go from "Slide" to "None"

Doesn't that keep the lockscreen but just get rid of any security needed to unlock the phone?
Edit: Never mind. Lol.

It disables the lock screen completely. If you turn the phone screen off in the middle of a browser, and turn it back on. It shows up at the browser. If u screen off at youtube, turns on at youtube. I just tried it on my phone before replying.

Thanks for your reply, but that's exactly what I don't want.
Actually, stock can do this too. But I want it to return to my homescreen automatically when I wake my device, not where I left off. Would this be possible with Tasker maybe?

Not sure why you would want that to happen. Don't use Tasker so I don't know.
Seems like you're making your life more complicated for no reason. It logically doesn't make any sense why you wouldn't want your phone screen to turn on at the spot you last left on.

I see it this way: I use my lockscreen to quickly see the time, date and notifications. When I actually want to use my device, I have to make one gesture (slide or whatever). So why not completely remove the lockscreen, and let me go to the homescreen instead, so I can use that as a sort of "lockscreen"? That way I don't have to make that extra unlock gesture. On my homescreen I also have the time, date and notifications, so a lockscreen is kind of pointless. But turning on at the spot I left off is not what I want, because that way I won't be able to see time, date and notifications or whatever I have on my lockscreen/homescreen now (yes, I know I can see those things in the notifications bar, but it's just an example).

First off. The solution I mentioned above fully disables the lock screen. Meaning you won't have to do a gesture to unlock the phone in the first place.
Secondly, the time is always on the top right side. Depending what rom you have, you may also have the ability to add the day of the week there. Notifications is on the pull down, the date and the day of the week is also present there so there's no reason why you need to always know that kind of information every part of the day as people do turn on and turn off their screen many times during the day.

I know. I know how to disable the lockscreen. This is even possible with vanilla Android.
Like I said, I know those things are possible to put in my notification bar, but let's say I want to see things every time I turn on my device that are NOT possible to put in my notification bar.
The reason that I want this isn't even important. I just don't want to do that gesture every time I turn the screen on, but I do want to see widgets, clocks, notifications, WHATEVER, like I would have seen on my lockscreen. For this, I can use the homescreen, but only if it goes to the homescreen every time I turn the screen on.

In my eyes it does make sense. I want my homescreen to replace the lockscreen. My homescreen looks exactly the same as my lockscreen does. By disabling the lockscreen and going directly to the homescreen, I don't have to make the unlock gesture, which is what I want.
I just think it makes no sense to have a lockscreen if you have exactly the same content on your homescreen. So, why not save that extra unlock gesture and go directly to the homescreen?
I will look into Tasker to see if it's possible. I can't be the only one that wants this.
I made a tasker profile that does this. Just disable the lock screen and use this profile.

Unknown Features of the GS6E

Hey guys, I was just changing my lock screen wallpaper on my Edge when I discovered that you can actually add up to 30 different wallpapers that will rotate every hour on your phone! I know it doesnt sound like a big deal, but absolutely a neat feature that was not talked about. Thanks Sammy! I currently set 8 different wallpapers for mine to rotate throughout the day. If you guys find any little things like this that werent talked about feel free to add them in this thread!:good:
How did you get this to work? Seems like a nice feature
are you referring to the lockscreen wallpapers where they "move" and change every hour? the note 4 has this too
I would love this feature! How'd you turn this on?
Ah, can only be used on the lock screen, not the homescreen.
I just realized this as well. Only the lock screen
Can anyone please post a Video

My GS6 Edge Gold Platinum 64GB is arriving on Friday and this thread is a good idea, keep posting people I want to know all the sexy features of this sexy phone
MultiTask mode where you can have an app floating on your desktop can be accessed as we know through the multiwindow key. But also within any app that can be "multitask" you can easily unlock it for multitask by swiping your finger on "top right or left corner" of the screen of the phone. Meaning outside of the screen to inside of the screen. Thought it was pretty cool too.

any idea on how to set a different lock screen wallpaper?

I've been looking around it doesn't seems to be a way to do that.
Just click and hold on your home screen... Select wallpaper and it will ask you if you have it on home screen, lock screen or both
