How do I change Bluetooth name? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The bluetooth name on the device is the model number. This phone's model number shows up on my Ford Edge's screen as the device I'm connect to. On the Note 2 I was able to change the name on the phone to a friendly one. Is there a way to do that on the Note 3?

When you want 2 keep the owner name (ie when u have registrations for it, such as with oziexplorece), but change the BT name, you need to go into the registry.
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\settings\
Change the name on the "LocalName".
Close program (save settings), wait for 30 seconds (important!) and then give a softreset.

OTA Over 3G/4G

Couldn't find this so thought I'd post for others as it could be of use.
I wanted to download over 3G/4G as have unlimited connection, but restricted to 20mb.
Do the following...
3845#*855# > WCDMA-Only > DM/FOTA Test > DMClient Test > Settings flex > Wi-Fi limited package size
Just a heads up to anyone who reads this: Change "855" to your model number. This is how you enter the G3's secret menu, but it will only work if you enter your individual model number. For instance, I have the D851 (T-Mobile), so I would place 851 instead of 855.

Change hostname?

Is there a way I can change my DNS hostname from android-blablabla to something like Nexus-6P? Thanks!
Settings > Wifi > Advanced (three dot menu) > Wifi Direct > Rename
Not sure if that's the one that shows on your router or not. On my router (Linksys WRT1900AC) at least I can assign a friendlier name to devices. I know that's not super helpful .

It is not the same. That is the name that appears when you cast your phone to a monitor. My router also allows your to specify the device name as a reserved IP address. Howver, in the list of connected devices, it still shows the native hostname, only instead of having a DHCP expiration it has a "Forever" slot as a reserved device.
I'm looking for a solution like OP, it's nice when the device name and actual host name line up as opposed to comparing MAC IDs to make sure the Router "Nexus 6P" is the same as my Phone "android-f51q702fc0087dq5".

This is a custom ROM feature (just making things clear).
I always keep my device hostname the same when I get a device. When you reset your phone, a new hostname is assigned, so I keep a copy of my old hostname, and that's the first thing I always do, change my device hostname back to what it was before I reset the device.
The reason for this is because a lot of services, in my case Play Music, checking this hostname. Play Music checks your hostname, and if it is a new hostname, it gets registered as a new one. And you can only register and delete a certain amount per year, and keeping the same one helps not get to the limit.
I know that doesn't answer your question, but I'm just telling why I keep it the same.
If you want to change it and have root, I suppose you can download a "device ID changer" app from the Play Store and change it to whatever you want.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app

SOLVED: Enabling Caller ID in Nokia 6

I have the TA-1000 and I couldn't find the option to enable my Caller ID on the phone. It's disabled by default for my number and I always have to enable it manually if I change or factory reset my phone. All my other phones have an "Additional Settings" menu under "Settings" of the Phone app to enable/disable the "Caller ID" for outgoing calls.
But if you have a multi SIM Phone, the Settings for the Caller ID have moved into the SIM Card Settings. So in Android 7.1.1. it's located at:
Settings > Call settings > Select UIM/SIM Card > GSM call settings > Additional Settings > Caller ID
This setting is also accessible from the Phone App itself:
Phone > Settings > Select UIM/SIM Card > GSM call settings > Additional Settings > Caller ID
nokia 6
not seeing that
Useful! Thanks!
