Verizon service is known to be the most reliable across the country. In heavily metro areas, you'll usually see stronger ATT service, but as you leave the metro areas, that service degrades quickly. Get to a massive rural area, and ATT frequently has no service. Verizon, on the other hand, has 4G almost everywhere, and where there's no 4G there is usually 3G. Significantly fewer dropped calls, too. At the moment, Verizon's LTE is faster than ATT's as well. (They go back and forth and each company likes to claim that they're always the fastest).
In terms of service, from what I've heard about T-mo, it's a trade up. I've never heard MUCH bad about t-mo, but I've heard that verizon/ATT are better. And I can say first hand that verizon is more reliable than ATT.

Heres what you do:
Call: 1800-779-6269
Tell them your buddy told you about this plan.
If it does not work hang up and try again.
It is supposed to be for current customers but she let me have it.
It is only valid for single lines.

Interestingly enough, I get good reception on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon where I live, work, and play (and where my kids play). But I still use Verizon as my daily driver carrier.

MetroPCS has a 3G Network???

There are rumors of people in miami getting 3G on their phones. Can someone possibly confirm this? I called Metro directly and found out that there are at least 5 other cities running on 3G.

I was reading another board where folks in Orlando were getting 3g Also read someone in Tampa getting it I upgraded the .prl to 3022 but no luck so far
Moved..............
I also swapped to prl 3022 but nothing happened. I'm so pissed that we don't have 3G in thia area of Florida (Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Naples), you know, I just got the crazy idea of making an online protest against MetroPCS. We should gather a bunch of people from different areas of Florida that do not have 3G coverage and plan on doing something like that. Maybe when we have 1000 people protesting for the same thing and threatening to leave MetroPCS then they'll do something about it. Again just a thought.

What people fail to realize is if 3g is everywhere your bill will go up and you will have a data cap to cover overages and you will end up with a at&t or Verizon situation the reason why metro is so cheap is because there isn't a 3g if you really want speed upgrade to a 4g phone otherwise be patient until they figure out how much data is being used in major cities and if it's worth the extra costs

It will get better. Now MetroPCS has the LG Esteem 4g it is on their site now so soon they should have to upgrade the system to handle usage. I pay 50 a month with metropcs and i still like it better then the contract companies. Also i read today that sprint is no longer doing one year contracts more folks to metro? never know
Metro is a headache to deal with if you have billing issues, but they're cheap and there's no commitment. That's always nice, but it cuts both ways. They can jack up your price whenever they want.
Contracts aren't solely beneficial to the provider. Sometimes they actually help the customer--I'm on contract for 2 years, for two lines, 1000 shared minutes, unlimited SMS/nights/weekends and 2GB data per device for $100.
It's cheaper than what we were paying for two individual Even More Plus plans (though we did lose 3GB of data). And T-Mobile can't change the price without breaking the contract.
My girlfriend has metro and we live in a city with 3g service. It's super spotty. Even in their most well covered areas, she usually still only gets 1x.

How long befcore I get cancelled

I just got my letter today, finally, saying that I am using too much roaming data over the past 6 months and they will be monitoring me. Sprint service absolutely sucks in my area and unless I am on verizon I get crap or no 3g. I don't really feel like waiting till oct 7th to see if maybe (big maybe) my service gets any better.
I pay an extra 10 bucks a month for "premium data" so I should be able to use it!!
I have been waiting to get out of my contract with no ETF for a few months now so I am just curious about how long before they cancel me and will I be able to port my number to verizon once I do get cancelled?
Sent from my Epic 4G
U wont get verizon 3g with roaming either
And you will probably be blacklisted with the carriers i think
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Well, I roam on verizon with a modified prl and get full 3g off their towers constantly, anywhere I go. No one else has any input on this?

How much data on average are you using per month via roaming, just out of curiosity?
That only works if you roam a isht ton in areas that are known sprint dead zones. Anywhere else and they'll know somethings up

Spoke to sprint today
I spoke to Sprint today on this issue and since they do not offer quality service in my area and I am forced to roam in order to obtain good service (as i put it) they are waiving the ETF and I am able to move out of Sprint. I am not happy about this decision though. I love sprint where I have lived before in Florida and other places in Pennsylvania but here it is terrible. I will miss my epic and this community but I am doing what has to be done.
Have fun paying triple on verizon

I'm with Simple Mobile now. I can tell you that the Data on their $40/month plan is HORRIBLE. It is throttled to 150Kbps, which is damn near dialup speeds. I wound up just getting the $60/month plan with high speed data and all is well.

Sprint getting the Note

I was helping a friend earlier today with sprint customer service on his s2. I asked the lady if she heard of the note and she said yes we are getting it may 12th. I said are u sure we are talking the same phone she said its 5.3 inches right and kind of like a tablet. I was shocked!!! So then with that said when we got transferred to data tech support I asked that rep the same question and she even said oh hell yes I can't wait to get rid of my s2 and get a note. So its hitting sprint this means it will be a flasher for boost ppl as all Samsung devices are all the same in regards to flashing from what I've seen. Awesome for sprint awesome for the unsure straight talkers on not so unlimited data....

[Q] Pre-paid data only plan, no voice

Is there a pre-paid data only plan that I would be able to use with the nexus 4? I am in the US and AT&T is the only carrier with 3G where I am. Are there actual data-only plans that use AT&T towers that I could use? If not, would there be a way that I could use a prepaid tablet data plan from AT&T? Thanks
I believe straight talk also has data only plans, but not sure if they will work on a phone. Their phone plans are way better than ATT though, and you get same ATT towers/service.
http://androidandme.com/2012/10/carriers/top-4-us-pre-paid-wireless-plans-for-the-nexus-4/
T-Mobile has a 5gb, unl Text and like 100min plan for $30. you get some mins but not alot. You also get T-Mobiles 42 Mbps HSPA+ as well.
That at&t/straight talk may work. I only get edge on T-Mobile in the whole state of Maine so T-Mobile won't work.

Yes, as pointed out upthread, all comparisons to T-Mobile are irrelevant because T-Mobile is not an option for the OP.
I think I'll got to an AT&T store today and snoop on the tablet IMEI numbers. That is unless someone wants to give me one of theirs, preferably not one registered on AT&T. Why do I have to go through so much trouble just to get a data only plan?!
