It's very Blade Runneresque. I like it. It was € 200/249/1000. It says it will be € 349 Retail when released.

Its pretty thick at 17.6mm/.70 inches.

HD2 running on mtk os

Hi,
Well, to keep it short, I've been told by a friend in china that he can get me a htc hd2, but running on MTK OS instead of wm6.5, first i hesitated as i though it might be one of this ****ty clones that china produce, but he told me that it's from the main manufacturer whom already in china, maybe they produce it with this mtk with a good price due to high wm license prices...
I really like this phone but here in Egypt the price is almost 2.5X it's original price, so i thought i might get it and install wm6.5 on it instead of mtk, of course if it possible, so i need your opinion guys about this idea???!!!!!! and i would never find any place better that here for this matter....

thanks' in advance,

sounds like a bad rip-off to me.. .
why don't you get your friend to send it to you, then if its good pay him?
If he's a friend surely he'll do that?
otherwise if it sounds to good to be true then it's going to be too good to be true..
I'd steer clear
3MP camera? Should be 5MP if its genuine. Also apps like peep or footprints are winmo apps so wouldn't work on mtk
yea, maybe you'are right,,,
i will tell him to send it to me, in my hands i will know if it's a genuine or a f***** damn clone(sorry, i just hate those Chinese clones),,,
the price is $250 by the way,,,
but if so,,,is it still possible to load the original rom and wm6.5 to it?????

probably not.. unless it's 100% genuine..
if you could ask him to send some photo's of this device i would be interested. if i'd really turns out to be a authentic hd2 (what i honestly doubt verry much) its a great deal!
As far as I know, HTC only has manufacturing plants in Taiwan and Brazil. I have not heard that the company has set up any plants in China. My information may be outdated, but I checked on the web about this just a few weeks ago.
My guess is that it is a fake, and that the quality would be very much suspect.
And that MTK OS is pretty much exclusively used by Chinese phones - I'd see no reason to see it on an HTC device.

You are quite right. HTC only produces phones using Android, the Brew® Mobile Platform, or Microsoft's mobile platform. The MTK OS is popular in China, and part of it is it can be set up to look like an original, without the functionality.
MTK is actually the processor name, short for Media Tek. Try google "T8585 MTK HD2" and you will find some info regarding the latest model. I read somewhere the latest update even have multitouch capacitive WVGA display. BTW, it is quite a good clone, running updated public domain WM6.5 ... and cost a fraction of the real thing. I wonder if anyone is doing a homebrew for this?
BTW, beware that some sellers might post wrong specs... its running dual Core, MTK6516 ARM9 460MHz (applications) + 280MHz (phone), RAM: 256 MB / ROM: 512 MB, dual sim and no 3G ... unless they release a new update.

Manufacturer: Samsung
Display: 4 inch, calibrated Super AMOLED+
Processor: 1.2 Ghz Dual-Core
Camera: Doesnt matter, I think the Nexus S's camera is good enough
Round corners, curves. Contour display.
1 GB RAM
16/32 GB ROM
SD CARD SLOT
4G
Build material: Plastic, but a little more grip at the back. Black.
The reason I am going for Samsung again, is because I like their hardware. As you can see the device I want looks like an upgraded Nexus S. I think the design of the Nexus S is fantastic, but a little more grip would do it for the back. Also, Super AMOLED+ got rid of many of the disadvantages Super AMOLED had, like PenTile. Only thing that bothers me is that the colors are a little bit too oversaturated. That is why I like LCD better, for now.
But it would be awesome if there was a way to calibrate the colors, so that you can choose normal (like Motorola Droid), oversaturated (like Galaxy S) or custom. That, with the advantages of LED, and no stupid PenTile, would be an awesome display!
Realistically, the next Nexus would probably be something like this:
Manufacturer: Motorola or HTC
Display: 4-4.3" 960x640 to 1280x720 resolution (either sLCD or sAMOLED)
CPU: OMAP4 or Tegra 2 for Motorola, QSD8672 for HTC (all dual core)
GPU: SGX540 for OMAP4, Adreno 220 for HTC
RAM: 1GB LPDDR-266
Storage: 16/32GB plus microSD
Camera: 8MP with flash
Misc: Dual mic, FFC, 4G, NFC, Wireless b/g/n, 1600mAh battery, ~9mm thick
What would I like to see (while still within the realm of reality)?
Manufacturer: HTC
Display: 4-inch 1280x720 (any sort of OLED, Sony is working on some nice displays)
CPU: Qualcomm MSM8960 (1.5GHz dual core)
GPU: Adreno 300 (200m+ tri/s)
RAM: 1GB LPDDR-400
Storage: 16GB (to keep costs down) plus mircoSD
Camera: 12MP microlense zooming with dual LED flash
Misc: Dual mic, FFC, 4G, NFC, Wireless b/g/n, 1800mAh battery, ~9mm thick
guys, what about a nexus from nokia?
now for me that would be a dream come true. the best combo of hardweare and softweare. it could be a great hit. i would love for something like this ro become a reality.
anybody agree with me on that one, or am i just a lone dreamer?...
on the other topic it was already said to be a joke only when he mentioned
but Nokia is indeed looking to partner up with other OS markers
but there are no solid confirmation if they are going one way or another
they basically opened the doors and are inviting prospective OS partners for their phones
don't be surprised to see a Nokia running Apple's iOS
but chances seems to be Nokia seems to be favoring Microsoft
however Android has the market dominance in the long run, it'll not be smart for Nokia to not choose Android and partner with Google
if they do, we'll most likely see "Nexus N"
I just hope the Nexus 2 will be made by a company with better outer casing

I guess so but there really is nothing bad with the shell of the NS. It only feels cheap because its glossy plastic. I've dropped my phone quite a few times and its never even chipped. I have no scratches on the screen or the back. I'm quite happy with the SNS and my only hope for the next Nexus is just that it be better than anything else on the market

It was a statement of sarcasm. Hence the word tad .
But 16 megapixel camera will obviously use different drivers.
They probably use note2 gallery though.
The remote viewfinder using the SGS3 is sheer innovation.

What will realistic Project Ara phone be and what price will you pay?

Hello,
With this being talked about now, what will your realistic Project Ara phone have?
Mine is pretty simple:
Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.3GHz
Adreno 330 450MHz
2 GB RAM
3.8 V 2300 mAh, 8 Wh, Qi wireless charging
Slide out QWERTY physical keyboard
4.96 in (126 mm) diagonal IPS LCD with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 (1080×1920 px (444 ppi))
8 MP with OIS, f/2.4 aperture and Xenon flash.
1.3 MP Front Camera
3.5 mm TRRS
GPS
Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
Bluetooth 4.0
NFC
Infrared port
Every damn radio band so I can use GSM/3G/4G all over the world
Now that I look at it, this phone sounds pretty familiar.........
My price range would be $400 - $500
What about you?
Also, lets keep it realistic, real (no transformer from phone to PC or fantasy crap) and considering phone/budget of each person. Basically what Project Ara is really about and can offer.
Im editing the title again: Please keep it realistic Who knows what people are reading this thread. If we post things like 8K resolution screen phones for 200 bucks, we cannot keep this realist.c
I'd be willing to pay up to $600 for a device with 8GB of internal storage with an external storage option, a 21Mp camera with OIS and various low light optimizations, It needs to be at least dual core running at no less than 1.8 Ghz, it needs 2Gb of RAM, an adreno 330 GPU, a 4.7in screen with a resolution that's above 720p, wireless charging, ALL the radios!, wifi 80211ac, a front camera that has 720p recording and is at least 1.3mp, extremely tunable audio quality, and a slightly curved screen.

Just asking for a good DAC and a curved screen will shoot it up more than $600
I based off mine a existing phone and depending on that raised the price compared to it...
For me:
Top-line specs (cpu ram etc...)
But the extra stuff i would buy into it is a good DAC (digital analog converter). I like to hear quality music.
And a best of the bests camera with a big and fast sensor (maybe foveon x3), 3diagonal OIS, led+xenon AND full manual control in it's software. I want to control shutter speed, ISO, explosure, OIS on/off, timer, intervalometer, HDR, brust mode, pixel oversampling and RAW capturing.
I don't want to take photos like on DSLR, but these things are good to have in the creative process :--)

Thats why you do and that is not normal usage (internet, music and games)
The phone I do (PHONE) does WAY more than any phone I (or most people) can ask for.
Really i want there to be clean choices.
saying you want a snapdragon 800 in it or a 21 megapixel camera wont help you if that phone comes out in a year or so.
An option to get it pre-assembled.
A rating system for blocks, if you replace a block, ask you to rate/comment on it after a week or so.
More then one company making them.
Multiprocessor support. Get your Snapdragon and your Exynos. More power. Maybe limit that to just more then one copy of the same chip though, i do not see how it would work otherwise.
A separate block that contains the headphone jack, usb, ... so that it can be replaced without replacing the more expensive components.
A small internal battery, so that you can exchange the battery block without rebooting.
Different body shapes. Tablet--Phablet--Phone--Phone with keyboard
An E ink screen option.
Price, depends on components.
An E ink phablet-phone is something else then a DUAL-Tegra with 3 extra battery blocks, 4k screen and no radios except wifi.
- separate DAC/amp (i imagine these will be built into the SoC so hopefully OEMs can make modules that override this)
- 4000mAh battery
- landscape QWERTY
- probably a screen no bigger than 4.7" given that an overly large screen would make using the keyboard untenable
- camera module with a decent sensor size & xenon flash
- multiple SD/microSD card support
- projector
i don't imagine you could have all of these modules on the phone at once though
I'd love to have a phone with a 4.3" 720p AMOLED screen and a Pureview Camera with a hardware shutter key.
CPU would be an Intel Atom paired with 2 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. Also, dual-boot with Android and WP (or whatever OS I want to put on there)
Oh, and the price? $500, maybe? (modular, of course)
I should have added that please make the phone and price realistic; Some of you are saying technologies such as PureView cameras when that is a trademark by Nokia and Nokia would NEVER open source it (with reason and I agree with them)
Independent vendors such as nikon, canon, etc.. might produce modules and provide propietary bins.. nokia as motorola's competitor would probably not agreed. W/o seeing the mdk, I can only guess companies [and a few gifted individuals] would have the resources to develop, nano-cize and produce said modules.. or will motorola be taking a you design.. we produce line.. Future looks exciting either way.. I'd pay $600 for full phone [base + enough modules to make it standard] but in just [visually] glancing the [proposed] module spacing, we'd be lucky to get battery you suggested.. Doesn't seem room unless thickness added [or two module spaces used].. which is/are a bleh idea(s) imo.

If you google it or look at any tech site's list of specs and you'll find that it doesn't have either.
I'm having a difficult time figuring out how the Edge has a 20% larger battery and about 8% larger physical volume than the standard S7, yet the S7 has 97% of the weight of the Edge. The Edge at 157g is decent in terms of weight for a 5.5" device, but the S7 at 152g has somehow managed to become the heaviest S phone yet, even outweighing the physically larger and removable backed S5. Overall the S7 looks great, but the weight is atrocious, almost a full ounce more than my S4. And with the weak looking glass construction, it pretty much means that I'll have to use a case (which the tough polycarbonate body of my 3 year old, 130g S4 has never needed), adding even more weight. Even without a case, the greater mass yields a greater impact when dropped from the same height. When I saw 157g for the Edge, I figured the S7 would weigh in at about 135-140g. What, did they add a chunk of lead inside to make the device feel more substantial? All else being equal, I think lighter weight is always an advantage. I carry my phone in my shirt pocket 98% of the time, and one of the biggest issues I had with the Note 3 I briefly owned was that the weight would practically pull my shirt off. The S7 is closer in weight to the N3 than the S4. Ugh. WTF?
Hopefully T-Mobile will have a 64GB variant. 32GB onboard is an improvement over my S4, but I'd pay more for 64 or 128GB, to go along with my 128GB SD card.

Cool thanks pal for not understanding the word "confirm." And this post literally says it has infrared, hence me wanting confirmation.

No need to be ugly. The only way to confirm what you want to know is to find explicit statements by Samsung saying that the device doesn't have those features, which they haven't to my knowledge.

Wasn't trying to start anything just didn't like how you phrased your post Didn't know if anyone saw something I didn't in any hands on video, or somewhere else. While I'd be surprised if it had IR or FM, it seems like it isn't confirmed either way.
I thought at least FM was making a comeback...

Isn't that in the Edge, as well? It's perplexing that the 5.1" S7 only weighs a single gram less than the much larger S6 Edge+ with the same size battery. Where is the extra weight coming from? The S7 Edge weights 4g more than the S6 Edge+, despite being smaller, but the significantly larger battery makes this logical. The S6 Edge is 6 grams lighter than the S6, so there appears to be a small weight advantage to the Edge design, but it seems that the S7 should have come in more along the lines of 140-145g. Not a deal breaker for me, but - other than sealed battery - the weight is the biggest negative to me, coming from the wonderfully light S4. I hope I don't find it too annoying.
