[Q] Is the bonus stuff only for preorder? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) General

Will I get it if I go and pick it up in store on the release day? 50GB of DropBox is mighty nice.

From what I understand its part of the deal. I had a GN 10.1 before and got the 50GB on dropbox so its in there.

Good through the end of the year?
From this info on Samsung's website it looks like it is good through the end of the year here in the US. http://www.samsung.com/us/register-for-your-galaxy-perks/#note-10-1

If I got 50gb DropBox free with the purchase of a Note 3 will I get an additional 50gb on top of that?

The 50 + 25 credit for hub and play store is a great deal in its self.

Does anyone know if I have to use the dropbox app or can I still take advantage of teh 50GB with dropsync?
Also I wasn't aware of the $50 credit for samsung hub and the $25 credit for google play! That's awesome. Does anyone know if purchased movies or tv shows from media hub are streamed or is it downloaded locally?

I'm almost positive that it doesn't matter what app you use. You just have to unlock the extra space one, and then it'll be usable from any app or the website or whatever.
Does anybody have experince with the bonus stuff for users outside of the US? The stores I see it at don't mention any bonus stuff, but I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't aware of any that.

i'm hoping you do. there was no indication on my dropbox account there was any extension of my free year as the expiration date didn't change, but as soon as september rolled around, i got an extra year.
so i can't make any guarantees, but it would be crappy if they didn't allow to stack.

I really hope you don't get two years of 50gb Dropbox since you purchased both an N3 and an N10.1. The Samsung link says you get two years of 50gb for the N10.1, so I hope you get 3-4 years total!

Verizon and AT&T GS3 won't have 50GB Dropbox!

http://www.droid-life.com/2012/06/0...-of-50gb-dropbox-promo-for-samsungs-galaxy-s3
As expected, VZW and ATT had to screw the users somehow
No surprise there.....US phones that are released worldwide are ALWAYS lacking features and bonuses that the rest of the world receives
Just came to post this. Such crap! I'm beginning to aggressively hate Verizon more and more each day.
Would we be able to "hack" ourselves around this road block?

I'm sure the reason for this is the recently announced Dropbox video streaming. Now its very easy to upload all your media to the 50GB space, then stream it whenever you want without having to sync/download. It's like Google Music for videos, except it uses 10x the bandwidth.
Carriers are NOT happy about that because they can't charge you for it. Both VZW and ATT have lots of people with grandfathered unlimited data, and most who never come close to the bandwidth caps. So they are trying to prevent this.
This reminds me of when I opened my HOX and the beats headphones weren't there!

Not supporting at&t but HTC didn't put beats headphones on the international one x as well. They said they won't be doing that going forward.

HTC stopped including Beats headphones with their phones a few months back. That's across their entire catalog not just in the US.
While this would not have stopped me from purchasing the phone, I'm pretty frustrated and feel cheated because Verizon decided to drop something that the phone was presumed to come with, and without notifying customers whatsoever that they opted out of the otherwise standard promotion.

If that's Verizon's thinking it makes me question what percentage of their customer base still has the unlimited plans. While people with unlimited plans can abuse something like this I have to believe that the people who don't have unlimited far outweigh those that do. Furthermore 50GB of easily accessible storage seems like a good way to induce people into data overages.
Not sure if anyone saw this. If you purchase a S3, Dropbox is offering 50gb of storage for free for 2 years. If you purchase a HTC One X you get 25gb of storage for free for 2 years. So you can tell Verizon and AT&T to stuff it because Dropbox is being the nice guys here.

Oh so sorry. Didn't even read the first link. I know AT&T is evil, but I didn't think Verizon was like that. I hope Rogers doesn't pull an AT&T and Verizon on us.
I think we should protest against this. I'm definitely going to ask about this, and if Sprint/TMobile had any sense they would advertise this.
There's little chance this decision will be reversed but we must fight.
Ok ATT One X gets the 25GB promotion but not the SGS3? Wow can't even say how much i hate all carriers...they control too many things. Im happy to have the international version and ill drop by their store flaunting my sgs3 and show my middle finger to them

GET 50GB from dropbox NOW

I dont know if most are aware but it seems as if samsung or some of the carriers are doing a dropbox promotion for 50GB of free cloud storage for 2 yrs. A hell of a deal on already a very capable phone. I called up sprint to ask about the promotion and they hadnt heard of it. Fortunately, I did not quit and stumbled upon this link
https://www.dropbox.com/gs
I kno it seems like bs, but do the 7 steps on the screen. After doing that my drop box went from 2GB to that plus 50GB.

..it's extremely old news that the Galaxy S III was launching with 50 GB of temporary Dropbox space. It was widely reported that AT&T and other U.S. carriers had "opted out" of the promotion and denied it to US customers.

AT&T and Verizon models are not eligible for this promotion. It is well known that the Sprint and T-Mobile versions are. If you are on the latter two carriers, then you will be credited this automatically when you set up Dropbox on your S3. Thanks to Dropbox crediting me with about 25 gigs (because I logged in on a ROM that had been ported from the One X. This was unintentional on my part) a couple of months ago along with other promotions I went for I have 81.25 GB of storage with my account for free.

You probably didn't go through the how to.
If you go to your local T-Mo store, you can factory reset a HTC One S, log into DB, fly through the menu and log out. Get I think it was an additional 20-25GB on top of your 50GB you just got.
Its my understanding that you need to login through the phone every so often or it will assume you've just signed in from a device for the free space.

I think to get the free promotion u must start it from your device. Im really not sure if its carrier specific but I have Sprint and its working. Its also NOT a known promotion by Sprint for those who believe it is.
I dont know how it would work if you already have an account, I just made a new one to insure I would get mines...I did

The Galaxy S4 is very cheap on this site http://www.unlocked-mobiles.com/sim-free-mobile-phones/samsung-galaxy-s4-sim-free-p-84354.html
I was thinking of getting it, reading some reviews the only problems customers have come across is after sales support, if the phone has a fault or is damaged in some way unlocked-mobiles are hard to deal with (apparently).

I've pre ordered mine with them. They have taken payment already, which some people don't like. I'm not bothered as I've paid by credit card. They seem legit and are registered with company's house under ulm.com. No sign of going bust or scammers. They have been around a while too.
The price they are charging appears to be the same as the "leaked" rrp price that was reported several days ago, a few weeks after they first listed at that price. Seems like everyone else are just greedy gits

Eh, I don't think they're all that good as a company to be honest, my USB port died on my GS2 after 13 months, I emailed to ask about the warranty and they told me even though they advertise that it comes with a 2 year warranty, it's really only 1 year, and anything after that I'd have to prove Samsung was at fault and that it wasn't due to wear and tear.
Their site is hosted by "uk-cheapest.co.uk" and the registrant for their domain name has a Yahoo! e-mail address. They're certainly no Clove or Handtec.

To be fair that's down to Samsung. It's their discretion on warranty cover. Although you could go down the legal route when goods don't last a reasonable amount of time for the price paid, which the supplier is responsible for.
I'm not sure many companies would help after more than a month or 2 without a push.
Even Game required a snotty letter (pointing out consumer law rights) before they agreed to fix an xbox 360 past its warranty period.

Careful with these guys - they charge a 15% restocking fee if you change your mind - check their T&Cs. You get a shock if you return the item.
I know it won't be an issue for most as you'll want to keep hold of your S4s but worth thinking about of your not sure as it's a huge restock cost.

I was completely out before. Now I'm about 50% in. Thoughts?

I can understand that. I will probably just do the payment thing with Verizon. If I decide to get it...

Nice to hear that...
Considering it. So much money!
I find myself contemplating the external otg card readers but I don't really know anything about them yet.
Same here if it had been just a tad bit better than the Note 4...

I would get it. But it's not. The Note 5 is a downgrade.

Don't get me wrong. I love my SD card. But with a 128gb phone, I think its doable to me personally. I current have a note 4 with 128gb SD card. Definitely don't have it maxed out. But I could see if someone had a bunch of movies it would be. Really you are losing 32gb with the note 5. I think I can handle that. If it was just 64gb I would be completely out.
Edit: Guess you will lose more than 32gb one you take in account the amount needed for the OS...

Last yr when the note 4 launched, with an upgrade, and handing in my old eVo 4g lte, It cost $100+ tax and activation. 2 weeks later picked up a 128 gb card on eBay for $110. So maybe around $250 for a 160 gb note 4 fully feature packed. Everyone this yr should just keep their note 4 or go get one if they don't.

You'd pay $1000 for a phone? You're crazy. You are the type of person Samsung loves.
I would gladly pay and extra $7 a month for a phone that I thoroughly enjoy than pay $7 less a month for a phone I consider meh... Just me though. If you wouldn't I don't hate you for it Lol.
An update on the article at The Verge says Samsung made an error putting the 128 up and that it was being removed because they are not being offered. So I'm out.
I was anxiously waiting to replace my Note 3 with 32+128, but there's no way I can get by with just 64. Bummer. It's a sweet phone in everything other respect.

I'm not planning to get one, but I have to say that if I had all the money in the world, I'd get several. Of course, if I had all the money in the world, Samsung wouldn't have any money to produce them.
I always buy the most storage option, I use it. Especially on the Note, use it for work and use, save & sign documents. Not only that but if U sell it the phone will be worth the most. (If that matters)
Hope that it's ok now
