[Q] Dropbox Bonus Space Time Extension - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Moved from Galaxy S3 (1 year old) to Note 3.
With 1 year left of the 50 gig bonus, I figured that signing in on the Note 3 would extend the bonus period (if not double the space) as this bonus is free with every Samsung phone purchase.
However, upon signing in, I did not notice any free space or even any time extension in the bonus tab of Dropbox.
Does that mean every one is limited to a 1x 50 gig, 2 years ONCE only, regardless of new Samsung phone upgrades?
Was the bonus that came with my Note 3 nullified the moment I signed into an account with existing bonus?

I thought the same as you, and alas i did NOT get any further space either. Them's the breaks i guess.

If you even hoped you'd get extension on dropbox. You don't know how capitalism works.

The free 50 GB space on Dropbox is per email address. If you need another 50GB sign in with a new/alternative email ID.
Also, there's no 'extension' to the expiry date in your existing account if you purchase a new handset. You need to purchase storage space after the Samsung provided 2 year period is over.

Last checked, capitalism meant you get what you paid for. I spent my capital on purchasing a Samsung note 3 with it's accompanying services including Dropbox, I would get what I paid for since Samsung paid Dropbox a portion of my capital for their services.
Just because it's called a "bonus" doesn't mean it wasn't factored into your purchase cost.
But what do I know about today's capitalism.

How much does DropBox cost?

I get kind of leery when I get something for free for a time, then have to pay for it.
I understand that I the Note comes with 50G on DropBox free for 2 years.
Checking their web page I can't get a clear answer on how much it would cost me after that.
I keep in mind that right now you can get a 8G card for about $6, and should be able to get 32G for about $10 in two years.
Plus even in these times of inflated HD prices I can get 2T for about $70.
9.99 per month for 100gb
19.99 per month for 200gb
49.99 per month for 500gb
Not worth it for most I would think.
I also have the free 50gb but also have 10gb on top of that. You can get a lot free space by referring, and tweeting.
Dropbox is not the same as having an micro sd card. Any file I'm working on is automatically available to open my phone, tablet or desktop. It saves me the trouble of having to manually transfer to each device.
It's not really meant as permanent storage for your files, just a way for all your devices to have access to them. I still save the files from dropbox to my local memory using "file sync", which is also automatic.
If your looking for a place to store your media files such as music, Google Music is free for 20,000 songs.(does not go by size of file, only by number of tracks)

[Q] dropbox 50gb offer

Do anyone knows if the 50gb dropbox offer will renew to the people who already got it last year or prior with note 2, s4 or so?
Because if I login with my account that only have 1 year more and I am not gonna get an extension of 2 or 1+2 years again, I'll use another account.
thanks!

You need to use another account! Thats at least what I had to do. Plenty of 3rd party programs out there that can work with 2 dropbox accounts + my Note3 seems to remember both logins, meaning that I just need to click "use another account" and it logs on automatically to the second.
So, they don't extend the time?
what a shame
What if you just have a normal dropbox account? Will it just add the 50gb after you do the steps or would you have to create a brandnew account?
Suki
If you have a normal account you dont need to create a new account. Dropbox will email you on how to activate that free 50gig
On a side note im also interested how to add the 50gig to my current free 50gig (from my S3 update)

Ahh i see! Thank you!:good:
Right now I have 76.5 gigs for my Dropbox account and when I use this offer it should go to 126.5 gigs lol. Another good one is Box, they started me with 50 gigs free and the interface is the nicest of any cloud storage I've seen.
After reading dropbox forums, samsung offer only works one time per account, so if you login with an account that already got in the past the 50gb offer, you will lose it and your account will not be extended in time or upgraded in size.

Galaxy Perks = $600+ in what world?

Ok so I'm wondering how they get that the Galaxy Perks for the Note 10.1 2014 are worth "over $600".
Lets break it down:
Samsung Hub ($50) by the way this Samsung Hub sucks, they have very few books, their movies are insanely over priced to rent or buy and I'd rather get my apps from the Google Play Store.
Google Play ($25) - Only worth wild thing I've used so far
Audible ($44.85) this doesn't even seem like a good deal, 1 free book a month for 3 months? (eh ok if you sign up on their website you get the first month free so I'm taking this down to $29.9
Hulu Plus (23.85) - 2 months free
Boingo ($119) - Free Wifi? Ok not to sure how this works yet
SirusXM Internet ( $44.97) though if you sign up on their website you get 1 month free so dropping this to $29.98) Also its only for new customers so if you got Sirus your SOL.
Zinio ($10) - Digital Magazines?
Ok so now we are at $287 or $317.67 if I didn't subtract anything.
So where is the missing $283+ perks?
$6 USD = $1 Samsung dollar :good:

I'm currently on about 10gb out of the 50gb. Dropbox is an amazing tool. I'd set a high value on a year of that.
On the other hand, I set a pretty low value on all the rest of it, so there we go.

It is indeed 2 years.
Unfortunately, they had the same off a year ago when I bought my original note 10, and so I already have the 50gb for 2 years. And it seems you can't get the offer again, even though this is a new and different tablet.
I may write to Dropbox and attempt to blag an extension, worth a try

Doesn't look like you can get 50GB on Drop Box's website normally, starts at 100GB for the paid service ($100) But for the sake of this break down lets say we are up to $417 now.

the 50 GB Dropbox is only for new Dropbox users right? I already have a 150 GB Dropbox and noticed that registering and using Dropbox on my new Note did not add any new space for me.
Not only this, but in the UK it seems we dont get this perks thing at all....

2 or 3 months of NY Times.
Still short.

18 months ago I registered my Galaxy S3, got 50GB Dropbox. Recently tried getting another 50GB when activated my Note 2014. Did not get additional 50GB.
Then created a new user for my wife on the home screen, used her DB email address. She got the 50GB added to her account.
Has anyone tried creating a 3rd user to see if they also get an additional 50GB?

If I understand correctly what you're asking, no, you can't use it for two accounts. I've had the bonus added to my account, then tried to login to a different account (after flashing stock rom to get rid of root), but didn't get the bonus. Seems that it's tied to one device?

[Q] Missing dropbox space in note 4 N910H

Hello I bought this Saturday the Note 4 N910H in Mexico. I must confess I am very happy with it.
The only important issue I have had so far is the missing "gift" of 48 Gb from dropbox. I just wanted to confirm if anyone with this note version is getting the additional space. Also, I wonder if this version can get, somehow, the evernote premium subscription.
In case it could matter matter , I also got the 48 Gb from the original note 10.1 two years ago (which has recently ended for me)
Thanks
I have the same issue. Like you my old 50GB limit from the note 2 ended about 2 weeks ago. They actually gave me 5gb when it ended which is more than enough for me so I'm OK with it.

5? Damn it!! they gave me 3!
So you think the reason we did not get the 48 gb again is because we had it in the past?
Acording to what i have read extra 48 gig is only for new accounts. I have 50 gig account with my note 2 which will expire soon and I opened second new account for note 4. Also some carriers opted out of promotion. Now im running two different dropbox accounts on my pc.

You didn't get the extra space for Dropbox, because you have redeemed it before from your Note 10.1 using the same account although it already expired. That's what dropbox customer service told me when I didn't get the extra space from my Note 3.
The only way you can get the extra space is by creating a new dropbox account.

Thank you very much for your reply. Just one thing... When I got the additional space two years ago the dropbox account was not "new"...
Uhm they should warn about this to the note users...

yet another promo offer i can't take advantage of.
Getting jibbed on the dropbox offer too for no reason, and dropbox won't respond back
It's only good for those that bought the phone between today (January 4th, 2015) and January 17th, 2015, I believe there is cap to the number of people as well, so first come first serve. I bought my device on December 31st, so no go for me. Netflix is not really my thing since it would still cost extra to rent the newest movies via Postal Mail (bummer).

If you purchased the T-Mobile Note 4, you should be able to get 50GB for Two Years Free As Long As You Create a New Dropbox Account within your device.
If you purchased the AT&T Note 4, you only get 50GB for 6 months which I feel is an awful waste of space, lol.

Yeah, I tried to get in on this, but since I got my Note 4 on 11/08/14, I was not eligible.
I did get the 50gb of Dropbox (on a new email acct) and I think I get 12mo of Evernote (which I'll never use).
On my Galaxy S3 (my previous phone) I got 50gb of Dropbox (which is still full, I just can't add to it, which is nice to know all my kids pictures are safe there) and they offered a free HD copy of The Avengers movie back then too (on the S3) thru MediaHub I think it was.
Somewhere there was a thread of the available freebies with the Purchase of the Note 4 - not sure if they were all T-mobile exclusives or not, that's where I saw the Evernote offer (again, I don't see myself ever actually using it, but it was free so why not).
GooglePlay and Amazon app store actually offer some cool freebies from time to time, I occasionally get the emails from the Play store for the freebies, the Amazon app store offer's I usually end up seeing on flipboard browsing android news and app news. I'd love it if someone had a thread here or somewhere listing the freebies on a regular basis we could subscribe to. :good: (if that exists and I've missed it, please let me know!)

I don't think so. Because the seller whoever it is you purchased from, did he give you a receipt/proof of original purchase ? If so, check the date on the receipt. It must be purchased after Jan 4th.
I just bought a note 4 but wont get it till next week.
