[Q] Scheduled Titanium Backup and OBackup GDrive sync fails - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I didn't find any solution to this problem:
I set up Titanium Backup and Orange Backup to sync with Google Drive automatically after doing their work.
However, in both cases, this doesn't work. TB will give me a notification that synchronization failed. OB will just do the upload, but the file is not present in Google Drive.
When I start those backups manually, i.e. starting the drive sync in TB or starting the upload of the last nandroid in OB, everything works fine.
I've got no idea what's wrong. Might there be some kind of permission that I have to set in GDrive? I didn't find anything, like that, though..
Hope you guys can help.

Nope, I'm sorry, but I haven't. I eventually just set up my own ftp and synced with that.

Deleted "accounts and sync" in my settings

After I rooted my vibrant to get lag fix, I decided to get titanium backup to remove some bloatware. Like the IDIOT I am I deleted the accounts and sync. I can turn sync on with my stock android widget so my calendar and emails sync. But it has been erased from my settings, and force closes every time I try to open it. Can anyone help me!! PLEASE!!!
I think this is what i'm missing
I need to get this " com.android.providers.subcribedfeeds " when I look in my system/app folder I still see the account and sync still there even though I used titanium backup to remove it. Then when I look in setting/manage application "com.android.providers.subcribedfeeds " is there ready to be unistalled. This was never there before and it has a size of " 0kb "
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?r1mrbtsep2k84kb
Figure out how to push it to /system/apps on your own (hint: use: ADB or Root Explorer). I uploaded this a while back.
XDA is the best
Thank you so much i used root explorer and it works as good as new. This place is the best.
Edit: got the zip opened on my computer and got the sets of files but when I tendered then from sd card to system/apps using root explorer, the files vanish and don't show up anywhere not even the sd card
I too made the same mistake by deleting the file. I downloaded the file from the link onto my phone but when I extract the .zip file using root explorer there's nothing in it
sorry tobring an old thread up..
so i goofed up and deleted acct and sync as well.. does this prevent my phone from mounting up via USB. i cant seem to mount it at all now...
any help is appreciated.

i did. problem is i cant DL root explorer since i cannot connect to the market due to acct and sync unable to perform its function.
i've got the zip for media share. i was wondering if there's a short cut to just mount the phone and drag the files over?

thanks buddy, im trying to push the acctandsync.apk back via adb
i get this error message
[INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT]
any ideas?
I think I did the same thing
I just so noticed that on titanium backup that this was deleted with out a backup. I do not remember deleting this but I guess I did. I am unable to get to access accounts and synchronization on settings. In every other respects my phone works just fine
Here is what I did to trouble shoot, I did not use adb, every time I attempt to set it up I never get it right. I did however get an apk from a Samsung Galaxy sII dump on this forum. I used root explorer to copy it into the system/apps folder I gave it the right permissions and restarted my phone. I still do not have this option in TB nor in setting. I am able to get notification via yahoo mail client however. I just would really like to get this back if possible.
I am not sure if this helps but I have a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II 4g. Sad to say there is no Nandroid or CWM so that is out of the question...
Thanks for taking the time to read this

Lost Titanium Backup Backups...

I accidentally erased android off my nexus, but was able to reinstall it. But, in doing so, I had to erase my internal storage on the device and wiped all my titanium backup backups. Is there ANY way to get them back? Google reisntalled all my apps but all their data is lost! Please help! Thanks!

Hi Trickster,
Thx for the reply. I've got the saving to Dropbox happening, its restoring FROM Dropbox that I've never done before. Will it populate the TB Backup folder on the int memory of my Samsung S3 for me to then perform the "restore" manually or will it actually perform a "restore" of the phone? Thx

Hi,
found what I needed at the TB website:
"How can I restore my backups from Dropbox / Box.net / Google Drive if my SD card failed or my phone got stolen ?
http://www.titaniumtrack.com/kb/tit...ore-backups-dropbox-if-sd-card-fail-or-stolen
Now to try and implement!
Hope this helps others.
Buy a Rasberry Pi, stick Rasbian on it, turn it into a NAS, connect a USB harddrive to it and backup everything. Install Truecrypt to it to make it secure.
I use rsync over ssh from my desktop to my NAS and copy any Titanium backups from Android to the NAS. Critical files I also copy to a 2nd NAS I keep in another place. The NAS also is for streaming media to help with the limited internal storage, you can mount to give you a 1TB Tablet.
I personally now don't trust Google's backup/restore, it doesn't do a 100% perfect copy and seems to carry over some performance-limiting settings when you use it to restore after a fresh install.

TitaniumBackup and Google Drive sync problem

Since I updated to 4.3 (stock ROM), all my attempts to sync my Titanium Backup stuff with Google Drive are met with a network error.
I can open Google Drive myself and copy and paste a file in there, so it's not like I've run out of space or that Google Drive itself has stopped workng.
Anyone else?

I'm having the same issue with AOSPA.
TiBu has been rendered obsolete a long time ago AFAIK--switch to Helium for regular/cloud backups; simple, free & no root needed

I beg to disagree. As far as I could see, Helium does not support any encryption; and that means that you would happily store your private data (is there anything more private of what you keep in your phone?) cleartext on the cloud(s).
Moreover, TB allows to create a .zip files so that you're able to install it via CWM (or TeamWin) recovery after a full wipe; so that you don't even need to log into your accounts first so to have it downloaded and installed.
And trust me, if you use Google's Two-Step verification, logging in via phone is a massive PITA that TB saves.
That being said, TB is the app with the worst interface I ever used, it is totally unfriendly. But it is very powerful, I yet have to find anything as strong.

And, I get that Google Drive Network Error way too often as well, it would be so nice if this app could be updated more often.

I'm having no problems with the Google Drive sync. Backups are scheduled for 2AM, Sync at 3AM. Have you tried unlinking/re-linking your Google Drive to TiBu?

I get a network error as well but how can I research what the entire error message says? It shows it in the pull down menu but it cuts it off short. I want to look further into it.
I haven't had any problems syncing it in the past either, so I know it works or did at least.

Copy ALL contacts, text, photos and downloads to another Essential

Getting ready to OTA the official 8.1 from Nougat BUT I am paranoid.
I have two PH-1's so I would like to update the never yet used phone to 8.1 THEN copy all contacts, text, photos and downloads into it from my in use PH-1. After that, I would like to factory reset my used PH-1, update it to 8.1 and then copy my stuff back.
Coming from Samsung to Essential, I lost a lot of file downloads - mostly .pdf's, some photos and some contacts. It took a long time to recover not knowing what was missing until I could not find it and some things are still missing!
Thanks in advance for all suggestions!
That's what the cloud is for my friend. Google Contacts, Drive, and Photos.
Used Google last time. Lots did NOT transfer!
If you're rooted, I love Titanium Backup. I've used it for years now. It will backup anything and everything, then just backup your Titanium folder to your PC. I also have tried SMS Backup+ which will backup your texts and MMS to Google. I will restore texts but will NOT restore MMS (yet. maybe one day.) Contacts should always be available on the cloud as long as you have the settings for it set. (You can check what contacts are saved to the cloud by going here: https://contacts.google.com) Also, if you're using Google's built-in backup services, you can check in settings to see when the last successful backup was done (Or check here: https://drive.google.com/drive/backups. If you change any settings you'll have to wait a while for it to sync again. Hope this helps!

Do you mean that Google Drive only shows 5 entries named something like "PH-1 backup"? This should be correct -- it stores the entire backup as one entry. What you'll want to check, most importantly, is the date on the right side of each entry. The most current, which would be done 'today' will have the time, instead of a previous date.
I may be wrong, but to me, it seems like some apps just don't backup their data to Google Drive. I know, for instance, my bank app does not seem to remember my login, but I find that to be more secure.. if someone gains access to my Google account, they cant just restore my bank app and get my login handed directly to them. Another thing I've personally noticed is that when you do a fresh install and during setup it asks if you want to restore, the top option is NOT always the most recent backup. I don't know why this is, but I have accidentally restored an older backup while restoring a fresh install. Maybe that's what happened to you last time when things were missing?
If you want to make absolute sure you get everything in a backup, or don't trust Google to get the job done accurately, I still recommend Titanium (I use this, I'm not affiliated.. I just KNOW it works and it works well). Or, you can use any other 3rd party backup utility that you like.
Hope this helps!
-----EDIT----
If you want to just make a backup to your PC, you can use ADB to do backups.
adb backup [-f <file>] [-apk|-noapk] [-shared|-noshared] [-all] [-system|nosystem] [<packages...>]
I personally don't use adb for backups because I only backup a few select apps, but I would think that running adb backup with the 'nosystem' argument would provide you with a solid backup. I do NOT know all the ins and outs of using ADB so you'll want to research the correct usage to backup what you want, but I just wanted to add this as a backup option.
I also see no reason you couldn't use adb backup to do exactly what you originally asked... that is backup one PH-1 and restore it to another?
The link to the Backups keeps changing to:
https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/my-drive
It shows individual files only, no Backups.

Hmm. I don't have my phone right now so I can't look into it further, but is there not an option somewhere within that (in a dropdown menu maybe?) to view Backups? Alternatively, you could try the Desktop version. Click the 3 dots on the right upper corner of Chrome and select the box that says something about desktop version or desktop view.. something like that.
If all else fails, open the link I shared on an actual computer.
