Who plans on upgrading to the HTC One Max? - One (M7) General

Do you guys think its worth the upgrade?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I'm going for it if it's s800 if not staying with the one.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I'm staying put. The One has plenty of power for me and the size of the phone itself is perfect.

I might, if nothing for the bigger battery. The One just gets me through a day so anything more and I'm out. Also I was talking to a rogers rep today who knows the HTC people and there will actually be 2 devices. The One max and a mid-range phone with a smaller screen than the max (still bigger than the one, around a note 2 size) and a bigger battery. I'll be waiting to see both if she is right, she says she saw two models.

I am still considering... I still want a camera shutter button (as well as a working camera without purple tint). If it comes out using S600, I think an upgraded S800 version will release later, and by that time, Butterfly 2 will be around the corner... So most likely wait and wait...

If they fixed camera problems maybe... NOT

I think it will be too heavy if it's made of aluminium, I prefer the note 3 in spite of its tacky look

It looks huge, but if it's around the Note II size, I'm definitely in.

[Q] HTC One (M7) or HTC One X +

Hey everybody! I want to know whether buying the developer unlocked M7 from HTC is worth the $649 asking price or is the HTC One X Plus the better option being generally $200 cheaper with its 1GB Ram and 64GB internal memory and quadcore chip? I must admit the non-removable battery has me leaning on a Sammy Note 2 but is there a way to restart these devices without removing the battery for those of us who customize our devices? In other words, from a frozen state or the need to reboot the device, is there an iron clad way to restart the phone in these conditions...and I don't mean give it a dunk or a bat or use to skip on a pond. For those of you who have in your possession a M7...is the hardware living up to the specs? Thanks!

You can reset it by holding the power button, like the Nexus 4, or any iPhone. You don't need to ever remove the battery. I never once removed my battery in my Note, Note II, or S3. People act like it is such a big deal, it really isn't.

I'd say go with the One. It is a bit more expensive, but you'll have the highest end device currently available (to prevent any flaming: this is my personal preference. The Galaxy S4 is also great, but I dislike the design of the SGS4 and really like htc Sense) and you will most certainly be good to go for another 2 years minimum. The X+ is also great, but the tegra chip and battery life disappointed me greatly on the One X. I can't say anything about the Note 2, but I've heard good things about it. What I dislike about it is the giant screen, but that's again personal preference.

Note 2 because
Better screen ( bright power efficient amoled vs slcd)
Better battery life + removable
Better storage options
S-pen
No blinkfeed
Better camera 8 vs 4 mp
The only real benefit with a htc one would be build quality which is nice, but the note 3 should feature better build quality.

No. No, you don't. It's an opinion and has precisely zero to do with any "logic" that's actually veracious. Try again.
Your rationality behind why it's better (notably the AMOLED) is laughable. Why don't you add hyper-contrasted colors to that list since it's a widely held belief? Or the fact that most people find Samsung's UI ugly as sin? Or that the argument between 8 MP/ 4 MP is a total understatement? Or that you'd have no real way of speaking to the battery life of either device since they haven't even been in the hands of consumers yet?
These questions are, of course, rhetorical.

Better screen? WTF LOL 1080p 468ppi vs 720 at like 260ppi... OK
3100 5.5 inch vs 2300 4.7
32 GB base storage is good. Vs 16/sdcard. This is a user preference
Spen? Barely anyone uses it. I barely used it once.

Just out of interest have Samsung solved the loose battery problem in the note 3, you know where the device will switch off if it gets a knock? I know that wedging it in with a slip of paper helps but why should you have to do that in a high end device?

Buy Nexus 4 to replace One X?

Should I buy the nexus 4 to replace my one x? or should I spend double and buy the One or S4 nexus experience when they come out?
Do whatever you want. If money is not an issue then go with HTC or Samsung. Most likely users over here will tell you to get the Nexus 4. If you enjoyed the HTC experience then get the One. If you want to try something new, get the S4. Otherwise get the Nexus 4.

Not completely true, the hardware of the S4 is great and the camera, screen, speaker and screensize are better than the N4 imo. Its the crappy and bloated software by Samsung that cripples the phone atm. I had the S4 for a week and sold it because of the lags and stutters, the camera and screen are very very good.

Not the screen. No matter how high the resolution is, and how ridiculous the pixel density, nothing makes up for the unbearable oversaturation of AMOLED displays If I were to go for a new phone (although I probably won't for at least a year and a half) I'd actually go for the HTC One right now, not the S4. As for which to choose out of the three options, it ultimately comes down IMO to whether you need more than 16GB of storage. If you don't need more, then there aren't really any significant benefits of the next-gen phones over the N4. Otherwise, get the HTC One.

Like a removable battery and sdcard slot. That to me means a lot. I hate having a battery I can't remove and/or upgrade. I rather buy a cheaper phone memory wise and be able to put a sdcard in it. $100 for an upgrade from a 32gb to a 64gb is just crazy. I can buy 2 64gb cards for $100 bucks and have 5 times the memory on hand. I am waiting to find out when the Note 3 is coming out and what it really has to offer to make up my mind.

The Note is much larger though, which will turn some folks off.
it is, but only by .4 inches. Its not like they are comparing the S3/S4 size against the Note 3. Some people will be turned off, but some people might like a bigger screen that has styus. I get turned off by smaller sized screens. Every phone that I have had has been bigger than the last except when I upgraded from the Evo to Evo 3D.
This phone will be fine. LG is quickly becoming Samsung chief competitor. They too make the Smart Tv's which integrate with the phones, and are basically able to match Samsung step for step. There are people who cannot stand Samsung for whatever reason and will be all over this phone. HTC has always been my preference but I'm gonna give this phone a thorough once over and may jump on board the LG wagon.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The launch time could be a blessing or a curse. The pro is that there aren't many flagship phones (read: not phablets) being launched right now and thus this will be ahead of most things on the market, unlike in Spring, when HTC and Samsung both release products with nearly identical specs. Unfortunately for LG though, this could mean people will wait for the next "Galaxy" or next HTC device (HTC 2? HTC One Jr.?) or maybe next Xperia.
Came here cuz I'm wondering about development too. The OG actually has a lot of development and development is just getting started in the GPro. Based on latest Note 3 rumors (take this with a grain of salt) the G Pro can hang with it and it is significantly cheaper. Being on all carriers will help the attraction. Just my 2 cents.

What options you mean? And stylus, why you may need stylus simultaneously with CM/AOSP, there's no wacom drivers for stylus AFAIK so flashing CM makes NoteIII stylusless. Am I wrong?

Yes. Don't forget that G2 is bigger than SGS4 only by .2" and Note III bigger than G2 only by .4" So no big deal in reality. BUT Note III will have lot heavier bezels and therefor will be more bulky and not ergonomic and less gripfriendly
Well we don't fully know what the note 3 will look like exactly, we only speculations so far. The G2 will be good for me though. But honestly I wouldn't mind a note 3 because my next upgrade is November. That's the only reason. But I would really like the G2 because I am in love with my GPro.

Is nexus an upgrade ?

Hey,
I've owned a one x for almost a year now and with its intense usage I came to notice that the phone is getting worse. Heat problem is the biggest one together with minor damage getting worse on the device.
A nexus 4 is only 300 euros in Germany so I'm thinking about buying one. Are there any people around that know if German phone would work in the Netherlands?
It has the same processor speed I think but the nexus has the stock android look and gets updated regularly.
Any advice is welcome

Honestly, the One X is kind of a failed phone. It has the potential but does not use it fully. The Nexus 4, on a daily usage (opening apps, tweeting, fb, instagram and such) shown to be faster then the SGS 4. So yes, it would be a huge update. And I wouldnt bother waiting for the 5th Nexus. I would by the N4 and when time comes, i'd switch

The N4 basically obliterates any older phone like the One x. But yeah, I don't see why it wouldn't work as long as you have GSM carriers operating on the appropriate bands, plus you're already using the One X.

Wait until the nexus 5 is announced. If its the same price and you get it in your country go that route.
One x is a more than capable phone to hold out at least to Google makes its new nexus announcement.
I recently changed from a One X to a Nexus 4, and it was a huge upgrade. The smoothness and speed of the Nexus 4 was such a big change I couldn't believe it at first. Highly recommended.
I switched from a HTC One X+ to the Nexus 4. The one x+ was supposed to be a faster version of the One X, and the Nexus 4 was still miles better than that! So you'll definitely notice a huge difference. The The Nexus 4 is just really smooth, no lag, and no extra rubbish on top
One Xs is a very good phone if you can put custom rom one it,. But otherwise I'd say skip the Nexus 4 and get the Nexus 5 when it's released which is soon.
