[Q] NegriElectronics updated their warranty...worth it to purchase? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I was about to hit the button on a pre-order from NegriElectronics for my Unlocked T-Mobile Note 3. I'm gonna buy it from them anyway cause it is about $100 cheaper than getting it from T-Mobile. But as I was browsing their twitter feed for any discounts, I saw that they had updated their warranty (Negricare) plans. I wasn't going to get on originally because I thought $100 down plus a $75 deductible was kinda high, but now that they are cheaper ($59 plus $50 deductible), I wonder if it's worth it now. It still covers accidental damage plus water, manufacturer's defects, etc. I have never broke my phone (though I have dropped it once or twice), but it's always when you think you are safe that crap happens. If anything happened to my delicious Note 3, I would be so depressed.
They just announced these changes today, so I don't know if anyone has had a chance to discuss this yet. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Upfront costs mean nothing if you have claim issues down the road. It's not "Negri" insurance it's offered by a third party under Negri's name. Read the T&C to find out who's behind it and see what their AM Best rating is. Also do a Google search to see what people's claims experience have been with the third party. I've had two devices totaled and received $1, 500 in compensation in a week for both claims from SquareTrade no questions asked. Personally, I'd stick to what I know. Good luck.

Thank you for your interest. We simply offer the plans to provide the means to protect your purchase. We have recently partnered with Mack Warranty to back our NegriCare plans. Mack provides exceptional service throughout the claim, which is the #1 reason we chose them. We were able to negotiate costs with them to keep prices down for our customers. The plans are worth it, even if you don't need to file a claim - it's the 'peace of mind that' is worth the money down.
You're likely to find positive and negative reviews for all warranty/protection plan providers out there. It's best to purchase your plan from a trusted company, and what better company than the one that will sell you your device.
We hope to you enjoyed your shopping experience, and if you have any questions please visit our site. below are some useful links.

How is it $100 cheaper from Negri than it is from T-Mobile? Did you see something I'm missing?
Sent from my Incognegro Jedi-Powered Note 2

After reading reports of how poorly Negri has treated customers who have ordered the T-Mobile version thus far, I would think twice about ordering from them.

I was wondering this too. Based on your image, NE is only $18.50 less than TMo. However, if the OP is also including the tax, then yes - NE is a lot cheaper. According to NE's FAQ about taxes collected, they only collect tax for orders that are shipped to the state of Nevada. I am in CA, so this will be a LOT cheaper for me through NE, since CA's tax is so high.
However, I am not jumping on the Note 3 just yet, until the actual true specs of the Nexus 5 are announced.

Yeah tax is the big killer in buying from the carrier. The savings from NE are worth it as long as they ship tomorrow as on their site. If they push the date later (like the AT&T version was to the 10th), I'll probably cancel and just pick it up locally.

Yeah, it's not just the tax, it's also the fact that I used a coupon code (NE20OFFCART) and got another $20 off as well as free shipping. So my total came to $668. T-Mobile with tax would probably be about $762. So that's why I said $100 cheaper, give or take.

Yeah, to be honest with you, i'm kinda on Negri's side with this one. The main post (the one with the chat and email logs) that criticize Negri show that the guy was complaining about them not shipping as early as the 19th of September. Correct me if i'm wrong, but all of the carriers were saying October 1st-4th for availability. Negri had the expected ship date as 10-3, so i'm not sure what the guy was complaining about.
Now, they have changed the ship date to 10-10, but again, i'm not gonna go crazy because of this. I am saving almost $100 dollars after all. And with all the cancelled pre-orders, I might just get it earlier. lol/jk

Is it odd that official news said that Samsung wasn't going to release 16Gb versions, but Negri has them listed?
Also, from the Q&A:
Thank you for contacting Negri Electronics. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to browse our site and take interest in our units. This unit will not support 4G on T-Mobiles network. This unit will only support 2G speeds on T-Mobile. This unit has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Thank you and have a nice day.

I think I'm glad I spent the other $90 just to cozy up with Tmo. I like that they have iPhone users (and others) entirely dependent on them for support, hardware included, because I get that, too, not because I need it, but because USB ports, power buttons and other main board & plastic parts just don't last that long.

do we have confirmation that the tmob unit from negri has an unlocked bootloader and will work on att lte?

Hmmm... good point lol. I think he was more pissed off at the perceived threat to delay his shipment because he complained to Google. But you make a fair point -- good catch.
Regardless, you can see several people canceled their pre-orders because of unreliable estimated ship dates and lack of customer service. I've given up dealing with online outlets because of similar hitches with another seller (not Negri) when buying my OG Note. It's left me gun shy lol.

Wait What?!?!?!
There's no way that that is correct. It's a branded T-Mobile device (you can see it in the pic of the back cover). In addition, the heading of the listing says "Samsung Galaxy Note 3 32GB LTE (T-Mobile) (Unlocked)". Since it has LTE (T-Mobile) in the heading, I'm pretty sure it is LTE capable.
Also, the version that PCMag reviewed here (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2424853,00.asp) was a T-Mobile version, and it was the Snapdragon 800 version of the Note 3. They said that it was using T-Mobile LTE. Negri CSR probably just didn't know what they were talking about or made a simple mistake. There are two versions of this phone after all.

Thank you for your note. We post "estimated" shipping date for this reason. They are estimated and we are not 100% exact on when they will arrive. If you called around to 40 different T-Mobile stores they would have less info than we provide. Our customer service isn't really "lacking" per-say, it's there, and we are doing our best to handle every request. The fact that some customers are angry with us isn't because of our customer service, it's because of the delay of their product. Customers reach out to us in the worst way, demanding a refund, threatening - however, we do all we can to keep the customer calm, respect their reasoning behind the aggression and try to settle them the best we can. Some have even threatened us if we didn't cancel their order - when they were never charged to begin with. It's a tough job, and no one is perfect, but don't give up on Online stores because of that. Give Negri a chance. The T-Mobile Note 3 is delayed, it happens. We don't do this intentionally - there is absolutely no benefit to it. Zero.
Everything we do is above board, honest and transparent. That's the way this company will always operate while it's under my command.

The intention was not to delay his shipment, it was about the resolution. If we could not reach a resolution it would affect his order of course, but the issue at hand is that since a claim was filed with Google, it is handled by an escalated department and not regular NegriCare.
We just hope that all customers understand that it's 100% better to come to us first, than file a claim. The claim form even says to contact us first - but this customer didn't feel that applied to him. Oh well. We deal with things as they come, and with the best possible mindset. We can't please everyone, but we can do our best to try. Sometimes that matters most.

Nexus One just arriving at third party outlets?

It was a bargain at Google's online outlet. How can they have the balls to say the phone is a $699.00 retail phone? $300.00 with a new two year T-Mobile contract? This isn't going to help sales.
Here it is at i-wireless
Here it is at Pure Wireless for AT&T - no contract price of $638.00 plus shipping.
Ugh - I hope this isn't going to be a sign of what's to come.
Wow, never even thought of seeing it at those prices. I'm not sure what to make of this actually because they were talking about selling it at retail outlets, not on the internet.
This one is my favorite.

Those seem like 3rd party retailers, they always seem to bloat the prices so they make money off of it, if you go directly to an official store, they'll have it at the actual price. I heard t-mobile is going to start selling it officially.

NOUN
1. sale to consumers: the selling of goods directly to customers, e.g. in stores
"She works in retail."
ADVERB
1. not wholesale: from an ordinary store or at the regular customer price and in small amounts rather than in bulk
"I bought it retail."
This is something that maybe has a different connotation elsewhere but retail around here refers to brick and mortar. Before there was an internet something not bought at retail or catalog sales from a retailer was either mail order or private sale. Nowdays you can add internet sales to that as a different venue to shop but it is not retail.
edit... Maybe its just because I'm old. Let me rephrase, its not retail to me or basically anyone I know. I'm going to have to ask one of my kids the next time they come over.
This is what I've been saying all along. It's not carriers they mentioned, they said third party retail, like amazon, best buy, frys electronics, etc. I mean what carriers are left? They all passed on the nexus, so the only places left are stores.

Did I say retail? I asked if this is a sign of things to come because NO ONE has yet announced the Nexus One is slated for their retail outlet. Also, the AT&T version is "temporarily unavailable" from the Google online store.
If sales are so damn bad, how did this happen?

And this happened because they are letting inventory drop before allowing a retailer to take over? A $99.00 AT&T Nexus at Walmart would be outstanding. With my luck, it will end up at Radio Shack for $429.00 with a new contract. My wife now wants one.

Well, we're waiting a few days for the new iphone to come out. If I peddle that on Ebay new and unopened and contract free, it ought to bring enough profit to pay for a good part of a new N1. I just hope it's available for a reasonable price somewhere when we're ready to buy.

They said retail in their announcement. You know, it turns out people want to get their hands on them, or whatever the language was. I dont feel like looking it up but I'm sure you recall that. That is why I wonder exactly what this is all about. This isnt going to move many more handsets than their own direct sales. Thats where I was going about it not making sense. It doesnt jive with what they said.
FYI, I Wireless is a cell phone provider based out of Iowa, and is affiliated with T-Mobile USA, although both are still separate companies. They have had the Nexus One since the end of March at select corporate locations. The reason they are priced that much is because they had to buy them 5 at a time from Google in order to offer them to customers. They did this because they wanted to offer their customers the Nexus One, and this was the only way they could at a discount.
With the change in Google policy, they are now available at every location in the company. But here is the thing, Google is still selling the phone to retailers and carriers, and they are charging an arm and a leg for each unit. $300 on contract is still a large discount from what the whole sale price of the phone is for most retailers... some retailers and carriers, ie T-Mobile, are getting a better deal, thus can offer a lower price. But they are also taking a bigger hit than others are (they can afford to because they have a larger customer base, thus if they only make $20 over a 2 year contract off a Nexus One owner, they can handle that because they have so many customers it still adds up to millions in the end).

Well, $529.00 retail/no contract is not an arm and a leg. The price should drop in half or more with a new 2 year contract - the plans have fat in the price to provide a hefty $300.00 or more sudsidy. AT&T just increased their early termination contract penalty to $325.00 on smart phones to make sure they recover their subsidy. Something is just not right with this picture.
Man, Google is dumb here.
Why does it have to be online-only or store-only?
What they should have done is send one or two phones to all T-Mobile stores, and maybe have an online kiosk too. Then people can check it out in person and BOOM, sold.
It doesn't have to be one or the other.

I Wireless doesn't charge $325, though. And like I already said, they were buying them 5 at a time at full retail price just to offer them to their customers. That is a $260 subsidy... but that in perspective, if you gave that discount on a BB Bold 9700, the phone would be about $50. In general, most phones are subsidized about $100 for a dumb phone and $200 for a smartphone. And net the carrier about $50-$100 in total profit over a 2 year contract. Verizon and AT&T make much more than the T-Mobile's, and especially I Wireless of the world.

Best Deals for Note

Guys, i found these 2 sites selling the unlocked note for good prices, but i am not sure abt these websites, does any1 have any experience ?? please help me

I don't know anything about them but they both have physical locations in nyc for pickup (they're both in the Empire State Building so I wonder if they are affiliated).
That's a pretty good deal. Walk in with cash and you only pay them if it is legit. Might be popping by next time I'm in town.
Problem is i live in charlotte ... have to see if i could get some1 to buy it for me.
It would be gr8 if someone in NY can help me out with this, i can pay for the shipping to charlotte.
both are run by same people and both don't have them in stock. The next shipment they will get is like 30 phones in 3 weeks. I am sure they already have a huge list of orders but it seems, majority will not see a phone in a long time. I have a feeling, no body will get a phone from them. They are fake.
They both show Availability: In stock for me, weird how are you sure they are not in stock?
I called them as well and as live in newyork I told them I would like to visit them for pickup. but they say that dont have the stock now. I have quit my hope of getting gnote from them.
oO.. thanks man.. bogus then. thank goodness did not order.. best will get from handtec
Stay the HELL AWAY from those people!
I to saw the amazing prices BUT after doing some basic research - look around the web, just Google them and you'll find out. I, at first hurried to grrab that price, finally caught them yanking my chain.
If you call and ask questions after a while they don't even bother to pick up the phone - however - if you call from a different phone number they'll immediately answer. Once they recognize your voice they promptly hang up and your left talking to air before you realize you've been had!
Presently the best deal is at L2D2.com. They were somewhere in the neighborhood of $753 or so last time I read a post, which was yesterday. They also sell quite a bit of them - so I'm told - so having them in stock may be an issue. If you can wait it out that seems to be the best deal at the moment. You might want to check at Clove.co.uk too. It's around the same price, they have stock, and you get a cool flip-over case with it for free.
Good luck though and happy hunting!
Oh thanks, but yea regarding the cheap price.. handtec is the cheapest and they are quite reputed too.
I ordered mine from TechnoTradingHouse. It shipped today, free shipping.
$745
I spoke to one of the owners before it shipped. They seem to be trying really hard to build a good reputation (and they already carry a good one). I'd recommend them.

$745
I spoke to one of the owners before it shipped. They seem to be trying really hard to build a good reputation (and they already carry a good one). I'd recommend them.

Here a week or so ago when I was looking for resellers in the US and ran across Technotradinghouse selling the Note on eBay I e-mailed them because I wanted to know how the Samsung warranty worked purchased through them and I was basically told that buyers are on their own to get warranty from Samsung and that they don't provide the warranty directly.
So that means if you want to cover your device your stuck paying for a third party insurer claim since the Galaxy Note imports have no US warranty and with the cost of a 2 year claim you could of just ordered from an authorized reseller like Handtec or Expansys-USA and gotten the 2 year Samsung coverage through them at no extra cost.
Handtec is also now only $710 shipped so unless someone can find a reputable US reseller selling the Note for $650 or less I see no point in buying an import from anywhere else if your in the USA.

This is good advice.
I am putting Square Trade on it, $124 for drops, spills, and accidental damage.
People need to evaluate the Samsung warranty + import fees and decide what's best for them.

Yeah the additional accidental damage coverage may be important for some if your prone to accidents. But if your in the US there are no import fees for buying the Note from Handtec.

I didn't know that.
Hantec seems like the place to buy, right now, if you reside in the US.
Yup.. Handtec has the best offer till noe.

Amazon Shipping estimate?

Mine says may 23rd to may 30th? What are the odds it will come earlier?
Why wait? Call around to your local B&Ms and pounce on the first one that has stock.

The 199 price tag, its worth $50 to wait a couple weeks, unless someone will pricematch amazon that's the only place ive seen it that low for an upgrade.

I was going to order from wirefly originally but don't feel comfortable giving them my full ssn especially when they specifically say in the the terms that they can give it to third parties. I knew about costco but i don't have a membership and i thought they were having inventory difficulties as well?

fair point about wirefly, not sure why they'd need that anyway. As far as the costco order, it was originally posted that the expected processing date was "on or before 5/3". we all knew that when placing the order.
problem is, they aren't saying anything about when they're expected to process to anyone who calls/emails. the silent treatment is annoying a lot of people.
turns out that the link: http://membershipwireless.com/index.cfm/go/shop/do/PhoneDetails/productId/10214 now says 5/8. not sure if that applies to those of us who ordered earlier, or to the new batch of orders. Guess we'll know on Fri. Either way, they have my order b/c they offer free activation as well, so it's 199 + add'l $36 savings + some random accessories.

So lets say it does actually process my order on the 8th (probably later though due to ordering later). The 8th is a wednesday. That means most likely the phone won't ship out until monday the 13th or later. According to http://membershipwireless.com/index.cfm/go/content/do/shipping, it takes 4-7 days just to ship it out. So i wouldn't get it until the 17th- 20th at the earliest. This is assuming there will be no more delays. Plus, it will cost me extra for the membership or the hassle of trying to get a free membership trial. Amazon is saying it will arrive the 22nd but from my experience it can be earlier than estimated. Plus That's after the 2day shipping which is free. Is it really worth the hassle and possible extra money to get it 2 days earlier? Now if i get get it today brick and mortar that would be a totally different story.
Amazon also has a great return policy (you know just in case)
haha well that's up to you. i'm hoping they're updating the link in combo with their expected batches. That'd put me in the 5/3 batch. so i'm expecting mine around the 8th.
ps. you don't need a membership to purchase from costco wireless.

Actually, I'm in the same boat - was hoping for a good reason to be talked out of waiting too. If Amazon will drag it out, maybe another deal may pop up. Still happy with my SGII, so no hurry to ditch it while hoping to get to that magical $150 new subscriber cost.

I know, sprint really screwed over its loyal customers in order to attract new ones. If they keep this up they won't keep their new ones, much less their old ones. Unfortunatey, I am still running on my old epic 4g from 2.5 years ago. Probably shoulda upgraded to the s3 a year ago but whatever.

Clove special offer

Clove sent me an email stating that if they get to 600 orders for the Z3 Compact before launch, they'll include a Roxfit case and Sony AN401 car charger free with every order.
If you're still in the market for this and haven't pulled the trigger yet, keep this in mind. Sounds like they have over 400 orders already, but there's only 10 days left!
Edit: Here's a link with more details http://blog.clove.co.uk/2014/09/16/a...ia-z3-compact/
Do we need some kind of code to "order" is it "automatic" as you say? There's no mention on their site or blog.
According to the email it's automatic, and they will add it to my order if the condition is met.
You can email [email protected] for more info if you'd like.
Edit: Here's a link that was created when I clicked view email in browser. Perhaps you'll be able to see that as well:
**Removed**
Edit 2: As quickly as I did that, they updated their site. You'll see a general statement if you click on the Z3C, but here's a link to their blog with more details:

Yes indeed! I'm pretty excited to get the phone alone, but would certainly welcome some free accessories!
Thanks for all your information.
I pre-ordered. I recommend that North Americans use PayPal as a payment option - I tried a direct card payment and it failed. I seem to recall having issues with Clove and direct card payments in the past.
Now Handtec are saying that they're going to offer a guaranteed pre-order bundle. This is the start of a price/extras war I hope http://www.handtec.co.uk/sony-xperia-z3-compact-16gb-black-1288-5849.html

More likely it's your card issuer; they will decline an international charge to prevent fraud if you don't regularly make such purchases. After calling the bank and verifying that you did attempt the charge they will release the hold and payment will go through.
Edit: BTW, Handtec is matching the free accessories offer for all pre-orders, no minimum order limit.

Is there any way to get the green variant though? Seems Carphonewarehouse is the only one that sells it but they don't ship to the U.S. :/

I never get issuer referrals other than with Clove. It's consistent. I spend A LOT online including big-ticket travel etc. Anyway, it worked fine with PayPal, so again, that's what I recommend.

Yeah, my AMEX was declined, so I used it through PayPal as well. Good tip!
Just posted at RFD: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/clove-uk-z3-compact-d5803-500-usd-550-cdn-free-stuff-1556567/
My guess is that now that Handtec is offering an unspecified accessories bundle with "no strings attached" (e.g. no minimum pre-order qty), Clove is going to have to make good on that even if don't hit the 600 target. We'd never know if they really hit it or not, so it's easy for them to just say they've hit the mark.
Very true, it is very bold of them to throw that out there. Could put a bad taste in the mouth of everyone if they don't make good on this offer. This is my first ever international phone order, so I'm very hopeful of a smooth process in it.

Oh, Clove will definitely hit their mark, either in reality or make believe.
Seriously, does anyone honestly believe that they've sold 'exactly' 400 units as stated in the blog post (not 407, or maybe 386?), or that they will notify us immediately when they hit 600 units?
Their goal is to use the enticement of some free accessories to get the pre-order buyers to do a little advertising leg work for them. Nothing wrong with that so long as we call it what it is, and the accessories would be nice!
Handtec obviously had to ante up, just as they did by beating Clove's price drop by a small margin, and they took the option of making them available to all pre-orders, probably betting that they will receive some orders from people that want the sure thing.
In the Netherlands you get a Sony MDR-ZX750 headset (worth €150) 00 when pre-ordered, not mather where you buy.
Spoke to handtek other day regarding potential delivery date... Although he couldn't divulge.. He did accidently let off that they've sold 300 red z3c already... They must have clocked way over 600 on total.
There website now says expected 22nd September... Yes
Pre-ordered mine now from Clove. (I hope they don't shaft me on the offer)
I've ordered my Z3C through Clove, and would have done regardless of the accessories bundle. They are a customer focused company and deserve as much business as they can get in my opinion.
Rest assured they'll go above and beyond to make sure all pre-orders receive the accessories, even if they don't reach the target (unlikely).
Handtec Vs Clove
So is everyone buying through Clove or Handtec?
I've never purchased a phone online like this before, so please excuse my trepidation. What are the Pros and Cons of purchasing with each company?
Does anyone have any experience with either of these companies? Who would have better customer support for an International (South African) customer like me? Especially if something goes wrong.
Lastly, I imagine both companies are offering similar accessory bundles together with the purchase. Are there any known differences yet?
Thanks guys! Any input is greatly appreciated!

Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Reduced - $149

I just got a call today from my sales rep. and he told me the retail version of the phone was reduced from $299 to $149. As long as it's within 14 days of order, they'll give you an adjustment. [emoji3]
Update: promotion starts today through 1/15.

Nice info man, thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately, I am not eligible for this but good info for others for sure.
So they had a price reduction? Planning on picking up a Note 4 in the coming week.
Although, this is not good news for Samsung or the performance of the Galaxy Note 4. A price reduction at this point means that the sales of the Note 4 are not performing as well as they want.
Terrible news for Samsung. Remember they already lost a LOT of money with the 'get $200 back' promotion. It's such a great phone and once again no one is buying it, yet iSheep continue to get iPhones.

Not sure, you may have to call about it. I have both business and consumer accounts, my rep. said he just found out about it yesterday and extended it to my consumer account.
Main verizonwireless site still shows original price. Has anyone had success getting this adjustment?
I disagree that the phone isn't selling well. They typically always reduce the price of the phone after it's been on the market for a while. I might take back the Lg G3 now for the note. I only got the LG cause it was 29 new on contract.

Do you see the iPhone being reduced in price? If enough people were paying $300 for your phone you wouldn't just give it to them for $150 out of the goodness of your heart. Price drops are to increase sales, plain and simple. If you had been paying attention to Samsung's earnings reports and stock performance, you would see that they are very much in trouble. They aren't doing as bad as Sony, but they aren't even in the same league as the profits Apple is rolling in.
All companies have those slow down, Apple included. Samsung is still the top dog in phones, nothing will change that.
Argh. I JUST bought my phone last week. I paid $299 and got a $100 target gift card.
Has anyone else been able to get an adjustment, or the promotional $149 price besides me?
I wonder if there will be a reduction for those of us who purchased the Note 4 on Edge?
Or us suckers who paid full price for the phone in order to keep unlimited data
Huh. I just called Verizon, and the guy said there were no promotions for the Note 4 right now, but there could be on Christmas. (Everyone, including them, should hear about select deals on some phones a couple days before Christmas.)
I wonder what's up?
