[Q] note 3 - appradio 3 working? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone tested the Note 3 with Appradio? I'm wondering if the USB 3.0 is going to cause issues. I know you can use a standard micro USB, but would still like confirmation if someone has tried it out. Thanks!

Bump! Also want to know it's Christmas time and a new radio may be on the list.
Please help

any news? I'm interested in the subject.

I use it with the pioneer 8500 with no problems. I think you won't have a problem with the appradio 3. The only thing is that I've updated to 4.4.2 and the appradio app is not working properly but at least waze is.

Hi i dont have problems with the USB 3 i have a samsung MHL adapter and that connects fine on to my Appradio 3 DA110. However i cannot get ARLiberator or ARUnchained to work to enable full mirrioring on my headunit the closest i have got is to the point where i only have 2 errors which are Virtual device permissions (permissions set as readable, unwriteable)
&
Virtual device creation
these are the only 2 stopping ARL working any ideas anyone?
This is on a Note 3 Rooted with busy box etc model is SM-N9005 on android 4.4.2

Controllers/Keyboard/Mice not working

I just opened my box today, and tried to use a wireless 360 controller. I have done this on my Galaxy Nexus, and it worked fine. I have tried wireless keyboard and mouse, wired mouse, and the controller on the Nexus 7 and none of them work (all of them do on my phone). Is there something I am missing? The usb port works, I can connect it to my computer and it is recognized.
Probably need root.

Just tried to connect a wii remote to test, and it connects fine.
Well, I rooted mine, and tried again, and no dice. And I know it should work, a lot of people have it working and it even says on Google's site that it should work. And I know everything else is good because the same devices with the same USB to micro-USB adapter on my Galaxy Nexus.

Also - the wireless receiver shows a green power light when plugged in to my phone, but not when plugged into my Nexus 7.
I don't think host mode is enabled out of the box. I get the same results on mine and have tried stickmount, wireless mouse and keyboards all through my otg adapter which works fine on my Galaxy Nexus.

I figured it out! My adapter was too short, it works on the phone, but it doesn't fit in far enough. I cut some extra plastic off of the micro-end of the adapter, and it fits in now, and works fine!
Hmm, I'll give that a shot.
Edit: That worked! Im typing this on my USB keyboard. I only had to remove the tiniest amount to get it to work. Thanks for the tip!

I have the orange dongle which is a huawei E173, when I plug it in using my otg cable the PPP widget just displays no drivers found. Also, I hear you have to put in APN info, which I have no idea where to find. Can anyone help with this or is it not possible at all with this dongle?

[Q] Screen mirroring issue - Unable to connect to Allshare cast hub and TV

Hey
As I dont have a 2013 Samsung TV but want to get screen mirroring in my living room I purchased the Samsung "Allshare Cast Hub" which does wireless screen mirroring via WiFi and HDMI in to the TV.
After setting up the hub (connecting to TV/Receiver and plugging in power) and enabling "Screen mirroring" on my Note 3 the display on the TV says "Connecting..." and on the Note 3 it says "Screen mirroring enabled" with the icon showing in the notifications panel.
After about 1 minute (TV/Hub still says "Connecting...") a message appears on the Note 3 "Screen mirroring disabled" and the TV goes back to the connection instructions or sometimes black and I need to unplug the power to the hub to get it back on again.
I have tried both soft reset (30 sec battery out) as well as starting in safe mode, same result.
Anyone who has got screen mirroring working, and if so how and with what?
I also tried breifly to to a simpler Allshare imagine sharing to my 2012 Samsung 8005 LCD TV (which worked fine on my Note 2) but the phone and TV do not recognize each other (TV does not appear in list of "players" to share pictures with).
Would appreciate any help!
Cheers

Update 2013-10-07
The problem has been isolated to my receiver (Sony DA-5300ES), it will work just fine when connecting directly to the TV or to another TV via HDMI but not via the receiver. When connected to the receiver it hangs during the connection phase.
To the same receiver using the same cable I have connected an XBox 360, PS3 and a dual core Android HDMI stick without any issues, so im 100% sure there are not issues there.
Has anyone had any luck getting screen mirroring to work via a receiver?
M8 you are not rooted right? I ask this because the same dongle didn't want to connect to my note 10.1 because it was rooted and I haven't rooted yet my gn3 and this is one of the reasons.

Hey Chris
Thanks for the reply, no I havent rooted it (yet)... Does your Note 3 work with the hub? Did you do the firmware update as well?
I doubt returning either phone or hub will solve the problem, to me this feels like a SW incompatibility issue...
Cheers

It works fine m8, you know as I was experience the problems with note 10.1 I read a lot so I spotted many people with different kind of troubles like the hdmi port in TV, try to change port m8 in TV to be sure.
I also don't have samsung but LG this is not the problem for sure. I did all the firmware updates
M8 a final question. I got it you are not rooted but is it possible to have busybox in your N3? It's crucial question because this was giving me exact the same behavior as yours in my 10.1

Ok good to know it "should" and can work at least...
I dont see how it could be the HDMI port as the image from the hub displays correctly on the TV, but I guess its worth a try. Ill plug it to the back of my Samsung LCD TV in the office and see if it makes a difference.
I don't have any root / admin apps installed. Only basics front-end stuff like Nova launcher and a bunch of apps, Avast antivirus/theft which is the most back-end feature I can think of I have running.
I have even started the phone in safe mode and its the same deal (I assume it does not run more than just the very basic apps in this mode).
Ill give the local Samsung support a go today, the US only told me to soft reset and try safe mode.

for me this did the trick:
you have to long-click on the screencast device (to which you want to connect) in in the screen mirroring settings, then the option "connect with PIN" appears! select it and with the PIN displayed on the TV you are now able to connect!
Thanks for this tip!
I did try this initially as well and again a few minutes ago... The pin comes up on the TV and the prompt to enter on the phone, but once i key in the pin and continue its the same story:
1. "Connecting..." appears on the TV
2. "Screen mirroring enabled" appears on the Note 3 (but no screen mirroring actually happens to the TV which still says "Connecting...")
3. After about a minute i get "Screen mirroring disabled" on the phone and the TV goes black or back to connection instructions

yeah m8.. exactly what huppened to me... look if you can test the 2nd HDMI... test in other TV ... if you got any other sasmung device test that also (this forced me to look in rooting problem because a unrooted galaxy S3 was able to connect fine and i was unable to connect with the same problems as you have... at least i understood that it wasnt problem from the all share cast side)... and if nothing works then bring it back to the shop... as i think it maybe that is a good solution to do it in the 1st place because there someone will have a sammy phone to test it on the fly.
I had to use the pin to connect to the screencast device. The dongle has the most recent firmware and my Note3 is an unrooted vanilla UK version
I previously had a rooted Note2 which would not connect via the dongle (after firmware update) which incorrectly reported the following. It is an HDCP compliant TV Samsung 2013 model)

Found the reason... As you suggested I tried a different HDMI input (and on a different device, direct on my 2012 Samsung LCD TV instead of Sony Receiver to Toshiba LCD TV) and then it works immediately without any issues!
That is so weird... How can the connection (phone to hub) have anything to do with the output to the receiver? I guess there is some sync signal when it switches from default 720P to 1080P from the Note 3 which is not compatible with some HDMI components.
The whole reason why i bought it was to use with my receiver so I can get audio from my phone (and video) wireless in the living room... Ill try some other ports on the receiver to see if that helps but I doubt it...
Anyway now i know there isnt a hardware issue on the hub or Note 3, and software works with some HDMI components at least
Thanks for the help!!
Cheers

So problem has been isolated to the receiver (which is otherwise working just fine with amongst other things a dual core Android HDMI mini stick) using 1080P.
Has anyone been able to get screen mirroring working via a receiver?

Yesterday I bought this device and have the same problem. It doesn't work when I plug it into Yamaha Receiver. I've tried everything but nothing worked out. As a temporary solution, I pluged AllShare Cast dongle into my Samsung TV then I connected Samsung TV and Yamaha receiver with Optical Cable. And now I can use Screen Mirroring with my TV with sound output through the receiver.
I tried to connect Note 3 to Philips 6008 series via Screen Mirroring. With Galaxy S4 there is no problem to do that but with Note 3 it is impossible.
S4 recognizes, that my TV does not have HDCP and consequently starts a session without HDCP. However, Note3 does not recognize it. I've got message that this is unable to start Screen Mirroring because HDCP is not supported with connected device. I think it's a problem from the Note3 software. Can someone now what we have to change to make this thing works?
ahh,m the screen mirroring i hate it
i have note2, note 3 and samsung smart tv.
on my note 2 with clean instal + root screen mirroring works fine. On note 3 with over moth of using and instaling stuff - it does not work.
Solution by samsung - wipe device. Funny but it always help. With some time devices stop connecting to TV. i can pair devices but after few seconds there is: Screen mirroring disabled or Screen mirroring disconected. Wipe and it works again.
other solution is this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.screenmirroringpatch
Link from google play is incopatibile with Note 3
Screen mirroring issues - Note 3 Exynos SM-900
I have a new international version of Note 3 (Exynos) SM-N900 with andorid 4.3 OS . I am facing a similar problem which doing screen mirroring using a HDMI miracast supported wiresless dongle. The dongle is detected by the NOTE 3 and when i press "connect" on the phone. It says connecting for sometime than connects for a few seconds and gets disconnected with a message "Screen mirroing disabled". I have tried connected the dongle to different HDMI ports on my TV. i tried switching og my home Wi-Fi as miracast uses a P2P connection. Still it has not helped.
I am not sure if anyone has faced a similar problem but it seems to be a huge set back for the exynos Note 3 with the scree mirroing not working. Do we have any solutions or workarounds to fix this. Appreciate if anyone here can help me fix this.

same problem here, I have a Netgear PTV3000. Note 3 sees the dongle, connects then disconnects after a few seconds.
guys congratulations here are the solution for all screen mirroring problems on rooted note 3, i found this patched libWFD_ENGINE.so for sm-n900 4.3,i tested it on my rooted note3 and it works successfully, credits goes to chafico21 for patching the file using the procedures from mrmrmr & sorg from s4 forum

SlimPort not working properly

Hi everyone, happy new year best wishes for all...
Im having problems with my slimport connection like some of the people in this thread:
http://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!msg/nexus/o3LTHLbSiv0/vRa3xRaER58J
I get a random connection, i can get like 20secs of mirroring then it fail (no image mirror, no audio, just like unplug it) 5secs then is working fine again. I can get 20secs of 20min sometimes, but it fails again and reconnect. Does someone of you use slimport and hace experienced the same issue?
sorry for my bad english, is hard to explain the issue ^^
Enviado desde mi Nexus 4 mediante Tapatalk
That happened to me when I used a very cheap HDMI cable from pound land. Replaced the cable with my original one and it worked fine. Also is it an original slimport or a cheap China copy as I bet cheap ones do the same.
Finally when pairing with your T.V make sure your playing something in H.D on either YouTube or video player as that helps to make a good connection.
Also only use a USB connection and cable when charging never a wall charger as that stops connection.
If you're still having problems then maybe the slimport is damaged.
If you're T.V is an old Samsung they have problems looking at the link you posted as we'll.

Samsung S8 HDMI output

I was using my Samsung Note 4 as the head unit in my car to play music from my SD card by using the HDMI out into an HDMI to optical converter and from there optical out to my processor. It turns out my Note 4 took a dump and it is totally crippled. It locks and reboots itself randomly and frequently. So I was fed up and got a new S8. Today I received the USB Type-C MHL cable for the S8 and no cigar. The last time I had the same issue was when I was trying to get started with my Note 4 and the fix then was to just turn off bluetooth and it was fine. The S8 doesn't care that the bluetooth is on or off, it will not send the signal either way. For what is worth, the converter box is getting power with the new cable as the LED lights up, I think the issue must be with some phone setting. Has anyone encountered similar issues and was able to fix it?
I am left with no music in my car and any help to fix this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The goal is to get a digital signal (HDMI) out of my phone, then convert it to another digital signal (optical) so I can use it in another device. The problem at hand is that the phone seems to NOT be sending this HDMI signal out. I had this working before with my Note 4 but the Note 4 is no more. I now have to get it working on the S8 and it seems it doesn't work the same way.

Bluetooth works but that is a compressed signal that has to go through my head unit (garbage) so if I do it that way I get terrible sound quality. doing it the way I described above I get crystal clear sound, which is the goal.

Have you tried connecting it to a TV? That should tell you if the phone is outputting the HDMI signal. If that doesn't work, it should be either the phone or the new cable is faulty.
