LG keyboard suggestion problem - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Noticed a problem with the stock keyboard. Many times if I go to click one of the suggested words on top it puts a totally different word in the text field, usually the word isn't even one that was on the list.
Anyone else notice this?

Try to turn all settings off like the auto correct etc and then turn on each one after testing them one by one..see if that helps:silly:

I love the keyboard with the numbers always being on top, makes it so convenient and its just my favorite but. I don't see an option to let you backspace to erase the whole word with once click if you change your mind or just put the wrong word up, I can't stand having to hold the backspace all the way through it. So I'm using Swiftkey for now which is an awesome keyboard but doesn't have that dedicated number pad along the top but actually has many features that I don't care about and tons of themes too. I hope someone tells me that backspace setting is under my nose so I can use the LG one hehe. :silly:

Yea I thought I'd be able to place the number keys up top when I purchased swift key but it won't. I much rather prefer the numbers up top.

Yeah I love the top row as well, and it generally does a good job but does get stupid some times. I usually use the Google keyboard or Swype but have liked the lg one for now, just giving it a chance.

Did you ever find a solution to this? It's maddening. I tap the word I want and some completely random word that wasn't even close to what I tapped (and wasn't in the list of suggestions) shows up in the text box. I have searched and searched and you are the first person I've found who has had the same issue. I love everything else about the keyboard so I'd rather not switch to a different one!

Come on peeps, #1 app in the play store for months now. SwiftKey is the best keyboard out there. Stock is a bad keyboard.

Swype vs Android keyboard

This is my first time using a phone without a physical keyboard. I'm trying to get the hang of using Swype, but I find that I'm faster using the stock Android keyboard (which actually better than I thought it would be). Does anyone have any tips on using Swype effectively? I've read a bunch of FAQs, etc. but I just must be a slow learner.

Just use it for a solid 1-3 days without switching back to the stock keyboard. Changing some of the settings might help as well.

I found that changing the swype settings helped my accuracy.
Settings > Locale and text > Swype Settings > Speed vs Accuracy
I changed the speed vs accuracy slider just a tad to the right so it is about 40% fast response vs error tolerance. It used to be about 20% fast response vs error tolerance.
I tried swype on the G1 and didnt like it that much. I gave it a chance on the vibrant and now i am loving it. I am impress with the prediction. You just have to give it a chance.
When I first heard of Swype I completely hated the idea, never gave it a shot
Got my Vibrant and for once decided to try it out, I'm fairly impressed on how easy and accurate it is once I got past trying to type in each letter, and the text prediction really is pretty good at deciphering my scribbles
IMO swiftkey tops them both. It predicts your current word and suggests your next word.

I couldn't stand swype. I am actually usinf better keyboard. I got it for my g1 and find it really nice for the most part. Then again i am not big on the whole pediction stuff. I actually type quite fast solo on the keuboard.

Faster, yes... but are you actually typing real words?!?
I use better keyboard, its closest to the stock key board I have found. I've used it since my G1 and by far the best keyboard I have found. Its $2.99 but totally worth it, plus there are tons of skins for it.
I use swype in portrait and the stock keyboard if i need to type in landscape. But I can't wait until BlindType is released

I've always hated using on screen keyboards. That is until swype came along. Its accuracy and speed are pretty awesome.

Does anyone know of an app that will switch the default keyboard automatically from swype to the android keyboard whenever I am connected on bluetooth? The one thing I like about the android KB is it has the microphone icon and I can use voice to enter searches, text messages, etc. But when I am not in my car, I much prefer the swype KB. Perhaps there is a plugin for Locale that can do this???

Frustrated! Delete all key!

Ok, here is my issue.
Is there away to disable the Alt - Del key so instead of deleting a whole section of text it just deletes one character at a time.
Sorry just been bothering me a lot lately.
I am on cyanogenmod 7
I use a alternative keyboard. Ultra keyboard. It only deletes one word with a alt and delete. I'm not sure, but other keyboards might do the same for free. As mine was a paid app

http://support.swiftkey.net/discussions/problems/3576-g2-hardware-keyboard-comwww-key-doesnt-work Same problem right there
Basically if i am writing out along text and have to insert a few numbers so i press the alt key twice then i have to type a letter forgetting about the alt I type a number by mistake instead. I quickly see its wrong press the back space and there goes all my work.
That's happen to me a few times with like making smile face "=)" or using numbers or other characters "$" other then letters.
It's just an annoyance to have to retype a long text because of one key.
Yeah, that is what happened to me a lot. And it's for the hardware keyboard as well.

lol i could spend all day explaining the joke of a keyboard this is.
spend some time with it for awhile and u will see what i mean.
i rotate between swiftkey and a swype-like awesome keyboard with a prediction list that shows up while u slide ur finger around, its no longer on the market but its called shape writer. its available for download around the internet.
I like it a lot better than swype, which I use for portrait. It seems to be more accurate, and the word choice options are easier to use and less obtrusive.
For landscape, I normally use swiftkey, and I think swiftkey is much better for me. Swiftkey does a better job with correction, capitalization, and punctuation, has the option for space key to accept the main word choice, adds spaces correctly, and shows more of your typing at the top to allow for easier editing.
So, I think I'll program keyboard manager to use this for portrait and swiftkey for landscape.
Why are you guys comparing these virtual keyboards when we have a physical keyboard that's now working 100% with no key skips thanks to mkasick? Am I missing something? For quick texts, I sometimes use Swype myself but I use the physical keyboard for just about everything else and since the fix, it's been terrific.

[Q]Better than Swype?

I just want to know is there any keyboard which is better than Swype in matter of recognition and word deletion/correction?
ICS keyboard is the best one I've seen so far for android, as I'm a really fast typer coming from IOS (vest keyboard over all), I installed ICS keyboard from the play store and set the auto correct to aggressive so as I type every few words my eyes just look to the screen to see if the keyboard auto correct wrong any words then I correct it manually or just continue talking.
PS. ALWAYS READ WHAT YOU TYPE BEFORE HITTING THAT ENTER BUTTON, BECAUSE WHEN YOU DON'T, WE GOT SITES LIKE DAMNYOUAUTOCORRECT.COM.

Swiftkey 3 has the best word prediction and correction that I've seen.
But the current Swype beta is close to it.
Both will get better the longer you use them
I can enter in text faster using Swype beta than Swiftkey.
Even faster again if I use the S Pen.

Swift key is one of the best in terms of prediction. But sometimes I find it a bit laggy.
I'd liked Swift Key 3 but it does not support swyping input on keyboard guys.
I liked the way it recognizes and corrects words.
I used to love Ultra Keyboard...but it doesn't work properly now on ICS....gets force closes...
I prefer Swiftkey 3. My flatmate prefers swype.
Pretty much everyone I know uses either swiftkey or swype.
new swype beta also has word prediction.
I have found that the standard ICS keyboard is best primarily, in addition to it being very accurate, It allows for speech recognition where you do not have to speak all at once- you can take breaks between words without any problem, whereas swype does not. Be sure to enble personalized recognition in settings as it does not do this manually. IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE AND I DONT EVEN HAVE A WEIRD ACCENT.

Don't know which to use for a long time yet.

What do you guys think about it? I loved it and I was using swiftkey on 4,2 now im using just the default one but most of the time ending up pressing "b" or "v" instade of the "space bar"

What can I do? It's driving me nuts, I can't type using qwerty properly
That keyboard is actually using SwiftKey technology under the hood. Sony added a new skin and some different options a customizations and repacked it as Xperia keyboard. So what you are using is SwiftKey "by Sony", Samsung also did that with the S4 and Note 3. It is great because we have the greatest keyboard on the market out of the box.

I don't get it though because I had the T9 previously before the update, & after the update it was still there. I managed to untick the options several times until now, & the option to use T9 was gone. I really don't like the small keys (& I have extremely small fingers!) - is there a way to get the T9 back or is this a bug from Sony?
EDIT: Ok another weird thing is that I managed to kinda fix my problem. I CAN use T9 but not under the international keyboard (default one), but under the Chinese keyboard instead? I guess I'll have to stick with that for now.. But before the option was DEFINITELY availble under the international/default one. No idea what has happened =/

I might give it a go again. I like it visually better than the google one I use, but ever since the google one came out I've found it incredible, especially how well the predictions work. I found the Sony one was just horrible when the phone came out, it would miss so many words that were just one adjacent letter out. The google one I find flawless, and on top of that, the second word prediction is just incredible.
It is a big improvement but is missing one great feature from Swift Key. I like to be able to shorten the length of time to hold down a key to use its secondary input.
