Wiping data shouldn't take long at all. When people say wipe data/factory reset when changing roms it doesn't mean wipe the whole sd card. Do you have the latest recovery version? For CWM it is 6.0.3.6 or 6.0.3.7. For TWRP it is 2.6.3.0
The correct procedure is:
Wipe data/factory reset (NOT sd card)
Wipe cache/dalvik cache
Install Rom
Install Gapps
Install SU (optional)
Reboot

what are u saying? i would prefer not to do it cuz iv already manged all my apps and settings on the phone

Redownload the ROM. Once you've downloaded just install it and wipe cache and dalvik and it should be fine.
Su, in full, Super SU is root made by Chainfire. The normal one in cm is made by Koush but you don't need to flash the Chainfire one, only do that if you have root problems

[Q] HELP!!! Spent lot time but still Unable to flash HYPERION rom

Downloaded HYPERION Final Build 6, flashed to my SGY(stock rom and kernel:S5360_DXLF2_OLBLG1_DXLF1) using CWM with success and then choose to reboot the system but stuck in boot screen.
I leave my phone and waited for several minutes but still no joy. Used Odin 3.65 to recover the system and restore the stock rom and then flash again the HYPERION ROM but still no luck.
Please help guys....
If you get stuck at the logo screen try using a different compilation of CMW.
If you meet bootloop try wiping cache and Dalvik cache.

after flashing DXLF1, try flashing EVO-X2.1 first then Hyperion (that's what I did). I used Merruk's CWM it has a much cleaner interface. :3
first flash stock dxlf
then if youre succesfull go to stock rom home screen
reboot recovery clear data factory reset and cache on stock recovery
then apply root update.zip (file you need to root ur phone)
next open cwm clear data and cache again
after that install hyperion then donot reboot and donot apply any update (must be later after succes install)
clear data and cache again in cwm
then reboot recovery clear data and cache again
then reboot wait for a while
thats my step and now im using hyperion smoothly

Link2SD and App2SD requires EXT3 partitioning on your SD card so you can have an extension of your phone memory on your SD card.
Swapper does the same, you need a nameless partition that your phone can put swap files into so as to reduce RAM usage.
Chainfire 3d requires plugins to properly function. It may be installed but not functional due to the fact that you may not have installed any plugins.
So link2sd ad swapper requires partitioning (theres a guide for that) and chainfire 3d requires plugins (google it)

it also happened to my SGY,
This is what I did - (hope this will help)
1. Flash your SGY to baseband DXLF1/DXLF2 via odin
2. Root it.
3. Reboot to Recovery Mode --> do data reset at wipe cache (2x each)
4. Flash Hyperion via CWM
5. After installation, still in CWM go to advance --> reboot recovery --> then flash kernel via CWM
6. After kernel installs, do data reset, wipe cache 2x AGAIN, then --> go to advance --> wipe dalvik 2x also
7. Then REBOOT (wait 2-4mins until cellphone fully starts)

Need help - freezes and restarts

I updated my phone to latest liquidsmooth rom two days ago and the phone freezes and restarts/reboots randomly like sometimes when im on phone/ playing a game/ using browser/ connected to charger. Yesterday I changed rom to latest carbon rom. Did install (3 wipes) as told in the thread but im still having the reboots.
Im using TWRP recovery and had used Utility 1.10 to go back to stock from Energy rom with safestrap recovery.
Can tell me whats the prob? Is it the kernel problem?
Have you tried upgrading or reflashing TWRP and then doing a clean install of Carbon? Its probably worth doing a fresh download of each first just to make sure you cover all your bases. These reboots were happening to me a few months ago and it drove me mad. following these steps fixed it for me.

Honestly, if you're using SafeStrap, that might be your problem. Remove SS and flash the ROM in TWRP. If your bootloader is unlocked, you don't really want to use SS. Also, make a stock backup in TWRP, prior to flashing. This way, it will be easier for you to recover in the future, and you won't need to go through the painful process of fastboot.

Thanks man. I will upgrade TWRP or reinstall it first. Thanks for that tip. Will post again if it doesnt work.
Still having those restarts. Really irritating. Froze and rebooted 4 5 times today morning while I was on call and trying to message. I reflashed reinstalled everything. I used both Utility 1.10 and 1.20. Im getting reboots even the stock ROM after using the Utility. I am confused which Utility I should be using. I had no issue of rebooting before flashing using Utility. Can someone give me exact procedure to reflash so that i know i am not missing out anything.

you might need to do a clean install.
- what version of TWRP are you using (anything other than 2.4 should be fine)?
- to perform the clean install, mount system, then try wiping everything (system, factory reset, & internal storage) - DO NOT WIPE external SD (I presume this is where you store the ROM files
- after wiping, reboot recovery, then install whichever 4.2.2 ROM you want follow by the GApps (use the 3/2013 version)

Since TWRP wasnt working for me, I tried flashing with CWM recovery by hashcode. Still had reboots. I was using TWRP 2.3.2.3
When you say wipe everything, does it include 'modem' and 'pds'? Saw these two options also inside Mount/Format menu of CWM recovery.
Also there was an option 'Mount sdcard' (internal I suppose) but when i click it nothing happens it remains as Mount sdcard. Rest of it changes from Mount to Unmount. Is there some problem with that?
Do I have to just Mount system only? Also after rebooting recovery do I have to mount system again?
I try again as you said meanwhile.

Did exactly like said. Got into CWM recovery. Mounted system. Formatted system, data, cache, sdcard. Did factory reset and wiped the caches. Then rebooted recovery. Then installed the ROM, 3/13 gapps, gsm fix. Reboot system. Still no use. I got 2 reboots in 5 mins in the ROM. I checked the md5 of the files and its ok. Dont know what else to try?

are you flashing a kernel at the same time?
I would recommend trying a basic 4.2.2 ROM right now - like unoffical AOKP.
another problem could be the GApps or GSM fix. try installing just the ROM without the GApps perhaps?
carbon was very solid too. unfortunately, I can't help you with the GSM fix, as I am CDMA.

PS. Should I flash another kernel with the ROM just in case ? I have been only installing ROM and gapps only till now.

Omega Rom help

As the title Im noob, I Just rooted my note 3 CF auto root and flash twrp recovery, i cant post on the official Thread don't have enough post.
I have flash version 17 and 18 which was on posted today having same problem, it install fine in recovery done full wipe, when it comes to set up put in all my details get to last page for device name and click to finish get Unfortunately, Samsung setupWizard has stopped any way around this just me?

Did you flash Omega from external SD??
TWRP recovery is the newest??? (2.7.1.0)
Yes I did, I have the latest twrp recovery installed no joy , flash few times same problem, using different rom, probably try different recovery later, is the stock rom With root?
Using twrp 2.7.2.0, 64gb sandisk card
Make sure you check wipe /system data when doing a complete wipe or it's not classed a a fresh install.

For Omega v18 you need to do a factory reset in twrp, than wipe cache, dalvik cache before you flash the ROM. Do that and than report back.
Thanks, got it working really nice Rom

Hi,I have a Galaxy J7 (SM-J700F) That I am modding

I have Install Liniange Os and CrDroid but they did'nt First Boot for Agesssssssssss Like OVERNIGHT can anyone help ( I have :
1.wiped EVERYthing (cache etc.)
2.Re flashed both of them)
Or can anyone send Stock ROM
Okay , flashing instructions:
When you go to TWRP, go to the "Wipe" section
At the wipe section, click:
System
Cache
Data
Dalvik / ART cache
And swipe.
After that , YOU DON'T NEED TO INSTALL BOTH ROMS!
Install only one. For example, install LineageOS. You don't need to install both of them.
After you flashed LineageOS, reboot, and it should boot in ~10 mins
