What apps and roms are you looking forward to see on yoyr Note 3? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking forward to a quick root& recovery. and some speedy stripped down roms
also it would be magical if we could get chainfire3D just think of the tegra chips we could emulate with that cpu power
oh.. I almost forgot..
a swap int sd with ext sd is much appriciated also

A rooted STOCK rom, this is all i need.

All other, like Wanam, Omega etc but
Specially waiting to taste MiniTab roms
Note 3's size is perfect for Pablet+Tablet Ui.....Hope someone would Definitly polt Galaxy Tab 2014 rom to Note 3...buth device has pretty similar hardware specs

only a rooted rom.
everything else will come later

There was a rom for the Note 2 that caught my attention that used a samsung base, but modified AOSP visuals, so you kept all the goodies, but had the nice status bar and google apps as opposed to the TW calendar and stuff.
The slick part about the screenshots for it was the nice theme as well. Instead of the plain black and blue AOSP, it had a nice polished white theme, kind of similar to what you see on MIUI/sense. But it still had multi-window support and full s-pen features.
Of course, the rom had some optimizations as well but that's only icing on the cake.

I will be buying the Note 3 exynos version in India.
I read a lot about developers not supporting the exynos. CM 10.2 was ported to S4 i9500 but it still has bugs. Camera not working.
Will the scene be better for Note 3 by any chance. Or I should consider importing Note 3 snapdragon 800 from outside. ?

For the. Tmobile version Tweaked. Awesome rom and Dev.

If Miui would get official support for the note 3 I would be very happy! (the note 2 has official support which includes all the features of the s-pen) otherwise just a rooted stock rom would be okay, I can freeze/delete all bloat myself then

I'm from India too..I also think snapdragon is better..but note 3 is already at 50k, importing will cost a fortune.
another point ,as you must be aware is warranty..even if u can get one imported do you have easy access to that country so that in case of an issue you can avail warranty?
if the above two are ok then go for the snapdragon version.
By the way if you do import it could you please just send me the details like price, country and such?

yh 50k is a lot. But we will be able to get it in 44-45k . There are always coupons available on indiatimes website. I don't think Samsung provides international warranty. In any case it only covers manufacturing defects I guess not accidental insurance. I have had 3 iphones, lumia 920 never had to use the warranty once.
I have friend going to hong kong at the end of this month. Will see what is the price and all, then decide.

Tweaked for Verizon or Rooted Stock Rom, Xposed can handle the rest of my needs.

How long do you reckon it will take for the GN3 to be rooted?

I would love to see Omega Rom come here.

Root on the stock ROM is all I need.

Roms:
PhoeniX
CM
PA

Need whompasaurus!

A question or two...important!

Okay so my Note 2 is sold and I am buying the S4 (I9500) tomorrow or the day after, but I was shocked after going to the Development section! There is no Android Rev HD ROM for I9500 but I9505 version is there! Why?
Also more things are available for I9505, but for I9500 very least amount of mods! Since I used ARHD on my Note 2 I never ever used any other ROM, as it was so fluid (never thought Android could be that smooth!) and never went back to stock ROM! And I hate AOSP ROMs, so if I buy I9500 my option is to stay on Stock ROM now or what?
This could well be a deal breaker for me!
The i9500 is only available in cirtain countries and is isn't very favourable to devs because of all its closed source hardware. It's why cm etc find it a lot harder to develop for. You can get really good stock based ROMs such as omega etc but due to its restricted availability you won't get as many devs for them.
Would still be a really good buy though. Give it time, as contracts get cheaper over time there should be more interest in them
@jujuburi
Hi,
Welcome to the S4 forum.
Please check out the Help Thread for the S4 in my signature.
Senior Member 123hiten had the i9500, and managed to get hold of a i9505.
You might want to talk to him about how he was able to do that.

Yup, that got to me too, unfortunately i didn't do my homework first by checking the development section. One of the main reasons is the CPU chipset, and the amount of people who own the i9505. First it is easier as i understood to work with the snapdragon than the exynos and also most people which includes developers have the i9505 and the ROMs cant work on both devices because o the chipsets.
Now about lag, you dont need to worry, I am still in stock rom rooted and there is DEFINITELY no such thing as lag....runs smooth as butter, but i was still disappointed in the lack of ROMs which I like to flash for fun.
Kids, no fighting. If you don't like something, don't complain - move on. If there is something wrong, report.
As simple as it gets

[Q] Which GS4 model should i get?

I would prefer to be without a contract, I'm okay being without LTE in the USA, would like international usability, and am confused about all these different variants in model numbers, processor types, and versions (e.g. Google edition, Active edition, etc...). Thanks!

Go for I9506.I think is the best.I own this phone and is better than I9505.But if you are looking for any custom rom you will not find anyhing for it(yet) only root and a few mods compatible from I9505.But overall is way better than i9505.The Snapdragon 800(2,3 Ghz and Adreno 330) does his job very well.And....there is no official android 4.3 for it.Just 4.2.2.I9506 rocks the benchmarks. In Antutu(stok ROM,stock Kernel) it scores around 35000 pts.
none , don t purchase an s4 , if u really want a Samsung device the s5 is coming soon , also concerning international usability with regional lock Samsung is not a good option
If you're considering a Google play edition device, you're better off with the nexus 5

Thanks for the recommendation, I'm looking into this. What carrier are you using; any plan suggestions? (I'm not too eager to sign a contract)

Has the S5 been announced? Doesn't Samsung usually release new year flagship phones in March/April? I'll need one much sooner than that.
Also, what's the problem with international use on a GS4? I think I remember reading that International GS4s in the USA don't have 4G use, and USA GS4s don't work well in other countries. If I get a rootable GS4, would this resolve this concern?
Thanks again for the help guys!

n9005 is better the the n900, but if custom roms is a concern for you, then n9005 is the right one.
in doing daily tasks, there are no noticeable differences except for battery life which i read that it is better on the n9005.
if you can get someone to buy it for you (n9005) and check for hardware issues, it would be great.
i myself had to buy it from outside my country (my cousin bought it and sent it to me) and got it right with no problems from the first time.
i bought the n9005 version because custom roms are a big concern for me (you know, why am i buying an android if i'm not going to mod it?)

Have a look on this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600536
For all intents and purposes, you will always want to stick with the Qualcomm Snapdragon version of any phone, including the N900x. The Samsung Exynos SoC may be able to provide you with better battery life and performance (Samsung's approach to controlling both hardware and software of their devices like Apple), but the weak developer support is simply not worth it. And all versions of the Qualcomm model (with the exception of Verizon's) are the same International version with an unlocked bootloader, and therefore can be flashed with any ROM from the Android Development forum.

Exynos device is not supported by many good devs, so really, if you want to use custom roms on your phone, then you are better buy an snapdragon version

[Q] Can I use the 910C (Exynos) in Hungary?

tl;dr: ^ See topic text. ( I guess I would not have LTE here with that, but that's not a big issue at all. Coverage is horrible in Hungary anyway. )
A few shops* sell the 910C here as well, not just the F version.
Now I know that the Exynos version is faster, more power efficient.
And I guess all official updates will also reach this variant faster or pretty much with the same speed.
On the other hand, we have the Snapdragon, which got much more custom roms and section on XDA.
(Honestly it feels so weird that the 1.9ghz A57 can beat the S805 clocked at 2.7ghz in single-thread....)
Anyway. Personally, I used the S3, S4, Note 2, S4 Mini, Motorola phones... and every time I installed Cyanogenmod or other CM/AOSP-variant roms, it was riddled with bugs.
Don't get me wrong, the Note 2 have the DN4 Rom which is basically a Note 4 rom ported, and it's great. It's stable, it's got a few quirks, but it works.
But from that, it doesn't seem to be a good deal to trade speed, and power just for more roms. (Let alone Knox which I don't want to trip.)
Sooo... I would be pretty fine with the Exynos version.
But can I use it here?
* = all gsm shops are shady in the country, that's why I'm super-cautious.
Use Exynos in Hungary
If you mean just using it as a normal phone I don't see why not.
The type of processor will have no influence on the normal use of the phone. (as in calling, texting internet and email and such)
If you would want to root it and start working with custom ROMs it might not e the best idea. Most open source development is on the Snapdragon variant.
The AOSP ROMs have come a long way over the last couple of years. I experience hardly any bugs with the bigger devellopment teams.
All the best, Willem
Thank you! Well, I know the difference is tiny, but you cannot install roms and stuff without tripping KNOX anyway. It will be a business phone so I would like to keep my warranty.
Not sure if allowed, but please, excuse my bump.
I would like to order the phone as soon as possible.
So far I'm convinced that the Exynos will be fine for me.
But the main question remains. Can I use it in this country?
I tried to look up the chipset, the phone, everything - but there is just no information on what frequencies does it support / etc.
So I had a wild idea. Screenshot the box at unboxing on Youtube, so I can check.
Then I used this:
http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html
That says it should work. What do you guys think?

i9505 vs i9506 - Which one should I buy?

Hello!
I am about to buy a Samsung Galaxy S4, but I have 2 options. For 190€ a normal i9505 (Black Mist) and 215€ for a black edition i9506 (the leather one).
They are both 16GB version so the only difference between them is the model no. and obviously the processor.
Considering the price difference and the hardware, I would buy the i9506 without a doubt! But... there's XDA and development...
I'm not here for that long to be able to tell if the i9506 gets about the same love as the i9505... Performance wise, how they compare to each other?
I want to be able to unlock the bootloader, install recovery, be a flashaholic like I am with my current Galaxy Nexus. I don't need to have like thousands of roms avaiable but I wanted at least the major ones (like CM, Omni, AOSP) to be avaiable and work without a problem. Do I still have that in the i9506? I'm seriously needing help with this, which one should I buy considering this community and kernel+rom avaiability?

I also had to face this decision. I eventually chose for the 9506 version. On one side because of the major speed difference. But that's something you already know.
It's true that the 9505 version has more support and more roms available. It will probably last longer in terms of "custom support". But the 9506 doesn't fall behind in these terms. It has less roms, but there still are a few good ones. Also lot of new rom threads are opening, who knows where they will be in a few months. The support of the 9506 is at least better then a few other flagships released than and now.
Besides, if you purely like customization and already have an optimized rom, xposed will give you a lot and only needs root (which will always be there).
For me the choice was easy.
