Possible early release.. - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just read this article about Best Buy having the Note 3 starting Sept 19th? Didn't specify that it was in the US, but still thats still earlier than the official sept 25th date for international. I'm hoping this is a good sign and Samsung will release the phone a week early from all official release dates.
http://www.ibtimes.com/samsung-gala...best-buy-information-indicates-sept-19-launch

look like part of sammy's marketing show. most BB stores in US have samsung kiosk inside. they might want to give "real product hands on experience" to public before official launch. definitely i would do this if i were sammy.

Samsung doesn't sell phones in the U.S. directly. There's no such thing as buying an "unbranded" and "unlocked" phone here. All Samsung's phones are sold via the carriers which means, even at BB's Samsung Experience store, they are reselling carrier phones. So it's the carriers that decide launch dates and availability; not Samsung and BB. The carriers pay a hefty commission on both the phone and service plans upfront to third party resellers like BB. That's why AT&T has 2,200 corporate stores selling devices. It would be odd that they would allow a highly anticipated device to be sold by resellers before they start selling them themselves. And the date on BB's website, at least for AT&T, is now September 27th. If that's true, I'd imagine AT&T will probably start shipping/selling on that date too even though their website still shows shipping 10/1.
All just my opinion of course.

I spoke with a Verizon Rep a few days ago and she informed me that all of their newer 4G phones are unlocked. I will be testing this as soon as I get my Note 3. One roommate has AT&T, another T-Mobile and the last has StraightTalk.
It's supposed to be a global phone (CDMA/GSM/HSPA) so in theory it should work with all carriers.

Partial upgrade

I upgraded last november (13 months) and I know tmobile does partial upgrades. Usually its $300 for a one year mark. Will this option be able for nexus s?
Sent from my sexy nexy
I was wondering the same thing, but since this phone is being sold unlocked and not at tmo stores I can't imagine they would allow partial upgrades. I have about 5 months left on my 2-year contract so it would have been nice to get a partial upgrade price.
Any best buy employees want to chime in? Pleaseeeee
Sent from my sexy nexy
I just called best buy no they do not do any partial upgrade fffuuuuuuu

God Best Buy Mobile blows. The one I went to wasnt offering subsidized pricing AT ALL, only unlocked. And they are a TMobile store. They had a huge cabinet full of the damn things, for $530 a pop. No wonder I was the only person buying one.
AdamHart - was wondering if you then bought one? Was looking to buy one myself but I'm on the fence between a G2 which IS available for a partial upgrade, or a Nexus S which I guess is not. If you did, what did you think? Do you know others who bought one out of contract?
Nope, can't do anything.
My account with t mobile qualifies for a full upgrade, but not recognizable in best buys system. Even had at mobile rep get on the phone with the best buy employee and nothing.
Paid full price.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
BBY mobile doesn't do partial upgrades. Yeah yeah BBY mobile blows...get real. Authorized retailer of T-Mobile so its just as much T-Mobile fault that they don't allow partial upgrades in authorized retailers. Not the retailer's fault.
If the BBY had a cabinet full of ns and wouldn't sell to you on contract, then it wasn't one of the 220 T-Mobile post paid selling best buy locations. Plain and simple.
Why is T-Mobile not in more best buy locations? They are not a top tier carrier in the US. Heck id personally rank them 4th out of the 4 major carriers. They sure don't rank high in subscribers...best buy wants to take care of as many people as possible. Having T-Mobile doesn't help you do that.

Yeah, I'm with these two guys, I've heard that Wirefly is a bit of a turd. Just what I've heard, I have no experience to back that up.
I despise wirefly. People I have worked with have ordered from them and have received used phones marked as new, and when they returned them Wirefly said the phones had water damage and they had to fight them on it.
Sad part is, my job (walmart) rents out their online phone sales page to Wirefly...

Switch, it's worth it. I just went from 66 kbps on Sprint here in NYC to 2 Mbps down mid-day on Straight Talk (AT&T) on my international Galaxy S III. And it's only $45 a month. It may not be real unlimited, but it's still much much better than Sprint's completely useless data speeds.
Also, off-contract the US ones are $649, so say $750 after tax. May as well go with the international ones from Amazon. If you want a penta-band one though, go with the T-Mobile one. It also has AT&T bands. The AT&T one only does AT&T bands. The cool thing with Straight Talk is if you choose AT&T compatible SIM it works in locked AT&T phones and if you chose T-Mobile compatible SIM it works in T-Mobile locked phones (both work in unlocked phones as well).

The only thing that sucks so far is the camera. Everything else is better. I still have S2 camera shots on my memory card and they have SO much more detail in them than S3 shots. I had an Epic 4G Touch (but I came from a Galaxy Nexus).

Also up for preorder at T-mobile !!

Leaving Sprint of 8 years, and ditching 2 GSII Epic 4G Touch.
Yeah I purchased mine out right yesterday at AT&T. I also have an iPhone 5 and Nexus 4 and in my opinion the One blows away both of those phones. I think the HTC One is the best phone I have used yet. Also att lte flies.

No, thanks. T-Mobile would have to offer me a free device, for me to even entertain the thought of switching over to them. I left T-Mobile's cousin, Sprint, nearly two years ago for AT&T, and don't want to go back to inferior service and a crappy company. T-Mobile has to offer unprecedented perks such as this, to try and compensate for their supbar service. And, after talking to AT&T retentions and being loaded with goodies tonight, T-Mobile is even more dead to me, now, then they were before.
I hear the same about att though.

They will only give you a $120 for your Note 3 from AT&T. Hardly a fair trade if you are only a year into your existing AT&T contract and would owe the reaming EFT. That would cost me $400 out of pocket to switch.

Eligibility requirements from t-mobile site
What are your eligibility requirements?
In order to qualify for this ETF offer, you must be switching from a postpaid plan with AT&T, Sprint or Verizon and port your current numbers to T-Mobile. You would need to trade-in a working mobile phone or tablet and purchase a new device with T-Mobile on a qualifying postpaid Simple Choice plan (you would not be able to sign up for a T-Mobile prepaid or Simple Choice Family Plan with no credit check). All lines must be activated in the same T-Mobile market with the same billing address and area code.

What goodies they give you? I am going to be calling them as well and try to get a better rate and maybe an upgrade or 2...
John Legere is brilliant. He offloaded the liability of subsidizing devices and carrying them on the balance sheet to his customers and with great theatrics convinced them his way was "better." This is kind of old but I'm sure the ratios are still valid. Over a two year span T-Mobile's cheaper than AT&T but not by as much as their fan-base wants to believe. And having to pay off a zero interest loan early if you want to leave T-Mobile without a contract is no better financially than AT&T's ETF.
I'm with the others above. I travel across the country and got tired of spinning the wheel every time I got off a plane or drove across a town I was visiting as to what kind of T-Mobile coverage and consistency I'd get for both voice and data. I pay more for AT&T and while I'm not a fan of any wireless carrier AT&T's the best of a bad lot. So T-Mobile fans keep rallying around John Legere and his "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" theatrics. At the end of the day value is determined by what you pay for what you get. With AT&T, especially taking in to account the new Mobile Share Value Plans (thanks John), I'm getting what I deem fair value and as decent a wireless product as is available in the U.S.
T-mobile is $70 unlimited everything ($1,680). $708 for the note 3 ($29.5 for 24 months).
I pay $120 + taxes each month for my wife and I with the 200 mb 700 minute plan plus the $500 dollars for the phone. The coverage map was the same in the Atlanta area so that's not gonna be problem for me.
Also, I can sell both phones for like $1,000 so this is a no-brainer for me.
