[Q] How to remove brightness and media volume sliders? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to remove this horrible and annoying brightness and media volume sliders in the notification pull? I believe without root, there is no chance, but is there any sort of hack for rooted devices? For me, this is a deal breaker, I'm gonna return this annoying piece of software if there is no workaround. Such a waste on such a beautiful device!

It's probably a boolean in the SystemUI.apk. Once I get my Sprint version, I'll check and see if it's possible to remove.

Once the devs have a recovery we should be ok. I know on the optimus G and G pro we were able to remove it from the systemic.apk not sure what files those are lol

The code is either;
1. Removed entirely on Verizon (unlikely).
2. Disabled for verizon (Very likely.)
That said, each APK (Android Package) has a boolean folder. Usually these true or false values determine if the script is active or not. Similar to how you can enable/disable onscreen buttons via build.prop. In fact, the toggles may even be in the build.prop, but I'd like to think it's embedded in the framework-res or SystemUI.
Once I get my Sprint device I'll look around in there.

Please upload only LGsystemui.apk

Now i'm uploading my LGsystemui.apk for F320K Model .
Do you think with SQL Lite Editor can we make the mod ?
edit : UPLOADED ....

Any progress here? Amazing it would be if the top ribbon could also be optionally resized, so it doesn't take that much vertical space. :good:

The volume slider is quite useful when the device is faced down. I could do without the brightness slider though.

[REQ] Signal / Wi-fi / Operator on the left side of status bar

You know, like in MIUI v5? Is there any ziptheme mod, or does anyone know what do I have to edit to have those icons on the left side of the staus bar?
Thanks in advance.
I also REALLY want this. I'm surprised no one has already made this happen, it seems like a no brainer customisation feature.

Great find
I found something similiar, involved editing xml files after decompiling sytemUI, but for an older Android version, so it didn't work. I will decompile his file and check for differences.
I'm currently working on modifying the systemUI.xml of my PA rom which should work on most AOSP roms. I'm trying to adjust icon dimensions to allow for a larger signal strength icon to simulate the new ios7 dot style signal strength icon. Not that relevant... But while I'm there I'll see if I can't make a simple switch sides mod.
Make a paint image or something or find a screen shot of exactly what you want or what side and such. I don't want to forget icons.

Any way to change the soft keys?

I've looked around and it appears there are a number of paid apps that apparently let me change the soft keys, but I'm not 100% sure if they'll work with the stock LG G2 "OS"...

My quasi solution was auto hide soft keys, auto to 0, auto hide only had anywhere on the bar checked, and swipe. You still need to swipe after wake, but if you need anything under it, just tap the left side to hide. If you use the mock option, home will leave space for it.

Reboot your device.

I have some bad news.
I finished the mod last night, but I can't really share it as of now. Let me explain. It's basically a modified LGSystemUI.apk, which is most likely different in each ROM, maybe even different variants have different LGSystemUI.apk - if we are talking about stock ROMs - and they aren't really compatible with each other.
I'll try to make flashable zips for Cloudy ROMs, as they are the most popular (and the best) stock based ROMs imo.
Unfortunately, it won't be as simple as copying my modded .png and .xml files, because I couldn't even recompile the apk when I tried doing it. But I'll try to make it work on these 3 ROMs as soon as possible.
Maybe I'll also make a tutorial, so you will be able to cook your very own LGSystemUI.apk yourself.

[MOD] Batterty percentage in locksreen status bar plus green carrier text

I cannot find a way to have the battery % show itself in the status bar with the odexed 5.0 system. I have at least been able to show the battery percentage in the lockscreen status bar. I've also changed the carrier text to green instead of white simply because it looks cool. As long as you're on LRX210 this should work for you. Just move the SystemUI.apk to system/priv-app and set permissions to rw-r-r and reboot. See below to for screenshots and the apk for download.

As of right now I cannot figure out how to get the percentage to show when the screen is unlocked....if the SystemUI was not odexed it wouldn't be an issue. I'm not really a developer, I just dabble around in XML's and have read a lot on themeing android system files. Getting the percentage to show while the screen is unlocked is still a project I'm working on. If I get it to work trust me I will be sure to post it!
I believe the XML was keygaurd_status_bar.XML
All I did was change the hex color code for the carrier text from white (FFFFFFFF) to green (FF00FF00). Then in the textview parameter for battery percentage I changed the line android:visibility="gone" to android:visibility="visible "

Also I've noticed with this mod if you stick the phone on the charger and take it off the battery percentage in the lock screen disappears....once you reboot its back again. Have no idea how to fix that...

Thank you but where did you find that XML file, under which folder in the source code

Hello, could you please change the carrier text back into regular white? I would love to use it in that standard design!
Could somebody help me to clarify, after I downloaded the SystemUI.apk it is an .zip but how shall I put the downloaded file into the system/priv-app? As far as I understand this should be an .apk?
It Is an apk file. Use 7-zip or similar software to unzip it..

XML is located in res/layout. You have to decompile the apk to get to it.
