Thanks for the link op but I wonder how many people on xda really need a guide to use devices.

Anyone noticed on Page 114 there is a Backup & Restore App mentioned.
Obviously don't expect it to backup everything but it's still handy to have if you don't already have the likes of MyBackup Pro and others.

My Backup pro is good but I'm not paying 4 quid for it.. I use helium backup to backup app data and then use Super Backup to backup the call logs etc etc!

Will check this link that you have provided. Thanks for your reply, appreciate it!
try this: https://market.android.com/details?id=ch.racic.android.marketenabler&feature=search_result
With your phone being rooted, you can use this to select your android market country/network to be different to what it actually is. I used it on the X10 but haven't tried on the arc, so it's worth giving it a go and feeding back to us...

I bought MyBackup Pro or something like that. It has a pretty good UI. I use it mainly to back up texts to their cloud. They have a demo version if you wanted to check it out.
Just root it. Its pretty safe. Make sure you get a recovery that works.

I use titanium backup as just a means to keep the apks of apps I've bought and and downloaded off the market so I can reinstall them after flashing a ROM. Restoring apps + data causes me nothing but trouble as in apps going 'rogue' and draining my battery by not letting my phone go to sleep. A fresh start for every app is recommended.

Ive managed to root it, although the bootloader is still locked.
Are there any simple "one click" ways of unlocking this too?

search for "pudding" in the Development forum --- that's where you'll find out how to unlock your bootloader.

Track and Control Xperia remotely

Like we have Samsung Dive application for Galaxy devices, do we have any way to track and control lost Xperia Z phones or any Sony phone online through PC.

Hi anjath
I use Kasperky mobile security, you can lock, wipe, locate, and even take a mug shot of who's using your phone, got a free copy with the desktop version, bargain!

Didn't get it with my unbranded one. It's still provided as beta version in Scandinavia. But here on XDA the apk is available and you can use it in every region.
Installed it today. You can locate your phone, lock it with a four digit pin and a note for the person who found your phone and use an alarm to find it.

MyXperia - Sony's phone location service

If you have a 2012 or 2013 Xperia device you will be able to activate My Xperia from your phone’s settings. Once it’s enabled, a visit to the My Xperia site will let you sound alerts, find your phone on a map, lock it down, and erase internal and external storage. It’s surprising that three years after Find my iPhone there’s still no Google location service distributed with Android, but Xperia owners out there will no doubt be happy about having a first-party way to track down their phones.

download the app from the link provided by zolaisugly, install it as usual, go to setting--> security --> administrator --> enable myxperia
then just go to myxperia site, login and it will automatically show your phones location
It's a good idea but, there're many difficulties in tracking the lost phone, especially a phone using Android, actually! 'Coz flashing a rom is as easy as turning off a light!
P/S: However I've installed and activated this service, just like an interesting thing of technology!
Ah so its not here by default.
... And about locking phone really? Just flash it with newphone. Problem solved.

A discussion about the root tool the original poster posted a link for has been going on in this forum since 12 Sep 2013. Read thread titled [ROOT] SGP312 FTF 10.3.1.C.0.136 Root (No need OTA). Several people have said they successfully gained root access using the tool. Also read threads titled Root for SGP311/10.3.1.C.0.136? beginning at post 14, and [ROOT][SHARE] VRoot 1.6.0.3690 - 1-Click Root Method - Lenovo A706, Walkman F800 etc.
I have bot used this tool. Just wanted to day that on my other tablet (a china retina tab) i allways use a chinese tool with great success.

... and the FBI infecting a bunch of TOR users, the NSA tapping into the internet backbone via AT&T, GCHQ geotagging everything that moves and garbage cans that don't ... "They" already have all your information. China is no better or no worse than than the US, Canada, GB, the EU. Everybody is spying on everybody. Governments, corporations, cable companies, Google, Twitter, XDA forums and me are all engaged in the active/passive collection of your data as it passes through our systems.
Privacy advocates missed their boat 20 years ago. We can try and hide, by using SSL, VPNs and encrypting everything. But in the end, we will fail because individuals just cannot compete with the determined application of unlimited resources brought to bare against us by those who have those intentions and resources.
Be it hiding from a country, a company or an individual, if you want to stay safe, take the battery out of your devices, unplug, disconnect and stay away from all networked infrastructure - telephones, easypass, credit cards, passports, store loyalty cards...
...or you just just blame a lowly Chinese hacker for all your woes and carry on like normal...

How does being suspicious about a root exploit that popped up on a Chinese site overnight make me blame Chinese hackers for all my problems as normal? I don't blame the Chinese for anything, I would be suspicious of this no matter where it popped up if they went about releasing it the same way. It is always good to be suspicious about root exploits and to look into it instead of just going with it.
You need to take a chill pill and understand that not everyone is badmouthing people all the time, when they posted a warning to ,make people think before they just went with a root exploit and to double check that nothing malicious is being injected along with it.
