Do you have USB Debugging enabled? Are you using MTP when you connect the cable? If so you can't. You need to change it from MTP and use Internet and then Ethernet. Once you do that you should see USB Debugging pop up in your notification bar. Once you see that you should be able to use helium.

USB mass storage not work on Mac

I can connect the i9000 to my PC using mass storage mode and see it as an USB disk, but it doesn't work on my Mac, it recognize nothing (I have chosen to mount the drive after connected to the USB as I did the same when connecting to Windows). I can see there is a Samsung USB device connected in the System Profiler but the disk won't mount, any clues?
Thanks.
I have the very same problem. Works in PC, not on my iMac.
You need to enable USB debugging and after that it will work.

Yep. Speaking as a Mac OS X user I can confirm this works.
The is no way to flash from a Mac though. However, I have high hopes for ROM Manager

Of course it's to be done on the phone. Sorry, I should have been more specific.
I've enabled USB Debugging and can't get my mac to recognize my phone to use it as a USB storage device?!?! I'm running ICS 4.0.3 XXLPB. I didn't have any problem at first with GB. Any suggestions? Thanks! =)
EDIT: Silly me, wrong forum my phone is i9100.... Still would appreciate any help.

Hi happened to me too.
Type *#7284#, so you'll enter PhoneUtil and be sure both the "UART" and the "USB" are set on PDA!

Help!
I rooted my Galaxy 3 and since then i can only connect and transfer data between my phone and my computer by allowing USB debug mode. It used to work without a driver installed on my pc (only data transfer mode like with a pendrive), but now my laptop (which doesn't have Kies on it) doesn't recognize it. I tried it with my TV and it said "unsupported USB device". It used to work as a pendrive but now nothing recognizes it:---( Please help:-C

Hi! There is no notification bar on the phone screen, because it's blinking. Or you mean this notification should be on the computer?

What he is trying to say, is wich is the default action when you connect the USB.
Example: every time that you connect the USB the phone gets into Kies mode, or Mass Storage.
My G3 is configured to ask what to do...

I have Windows 7 on my PC. Sometimes when inserting the micro usb into my HD2, it attempts to install ADB or something and fails.
Anybody know how this could happen? It was working well.
Install DroidExplorer to your pc. It should have all the necessary drivers etc

Both pass through and droid explorer work. But I can't seem to get access to my SD. And it's inserted correctly.. can even see the stats of it on the phone.
USB debugging should always be enabled right?

[Q] Nexus 4 Cannot be recognize by any PC

My unroot, unmodified Nexus 4 is cannot be detected by any PC or Mac I plug it into. There are no notification on Windows or in my Phone. Before, my PC can detect it as a camera or media device whichever I prefer. I even installed the ADB driver to make Helium work.
My recent installed apps are Helium and Cerberus. I don't know if one of these apps causes the problem. Before this thing happened, when I plug my phone to my PC it states as "Charging (USB)" but now it's just charging.

i think 1st you should try unistalling any previous drivers to do this follow this http://www.pcworld.com/article/246041/how_to_uninstall_drivers_in_windows.html and then connect it again . I had a same problem once and i did this.If it does not work you have to ask someone more expert.
Thanks but i already did this. In fact any pc in the offixe cannot detect this phone. Even those dont have a driver. I believe u dont need a driver for PTP or MTP since windows already has a driver for that.

Every since the phone was purchased, it was never recognised by any computer. I tried those methods that they said would cause it to be recognised and it still would not work with it.

Not even on adb mode would it connect. The charging port would cause that? When you plug it into the computer, it usually gives that unrecognised device error.

Try this:
Samsung Android USB Driver | Samsung Developers
You need the driver only if you are developing on Windows and want to connect a Samsung Android device to your development environment over USB.
developer.samsung.com
If that dosen't help try enabling DEVELOPER options and on "Default USB Configuration" choose "FIle Transfer"
