Two different assembly locations China & USA - Moto X General

Just noticed that my moto x ( Rogers) was assembled in China, not the USA. As I was able to unlock my bootloader, does thus mean that the China units have the non encrypted bootloader or is Motorola pulling the wool over our eyes.
Just food for thought

I believe only motomaker devices are assembled in the USA.

I think they were all assembled here in the USA. They just put a China plate on it......

Assembled only means the parts are put together not manufactured AFAIK. Is yours a motomaker? Or stock AT&T or Verizon?
So if I understand correctly, moto x are assembled in China except motomaker.
What I have read is the moto x was assembled in the US, Motorola has made a huge deal about that fact.
I also assume the firmware is flashed during Assembly, this being said, I would assume the chinese version have a non encrypted bootloader and this is why I was able to unlock my bootloader.
I'm not a developer but the fxz firmware , do they have any files pertaining to the bootloader?

Pretty sure all Rogers Moto X are assembled in China. I have a flawless sample, no complaints!

Same with mine build quality is probably higher in China than the us due to the fact they do it all the time. The bootloader is my question

Rogers Moto X bootloader unlock is supported by Motorola and Rogers. It has nothing to do with where the phone was assembled IMHO. Even Sprint and US Cellular Moto X can be bootloader unlocked and so will be T-Mobile Moto X.

I got a stock AT&T (not motomaker) and it says assembled in USA on it.

you are correct but my point was that unlocking BL has nothing to do with where the phone was made or assembled. it's upto the carrier.

How so? Moto maker isn't available in Canada, so why would we get US assembled devices? We do have the Queen on our money after all.

So I looks as though all american carriers are caring the US assembled model and all other countries are receiving the made in China variant

Every US carrier should be selling the Moto X unlocked to start with; not sure about overseas (where it's sold). That's a pretty suspicious feedback pattern.
This is garbage, not free, just pay for it, did mine on cellunlocker.com for $7.99, fair price and cheap...imho
I wonder if it is possible to unlock Sprint Moto X to use on AT&T or T-Mobile

Yes. The VZW Moto X is capable of pentaband GSM with speeds up to HSDPA 42 - or 42 Mbps. Just no LTE outside of Verizon (well, I think it supports one of the T-Mobile bands).

£380 UK 429Euros
LONDON -- Motorola is bringing its flagship Android phone to Europe. The Moto X will go on sale in the UK, France and Germany in February for £380 or 429 euros, the company announced today.
Previously only available in the US, Canada and Latin America, the Moto X follows the low-cost Moto G to Europe. It will be available on contracts starting at £25 per month in the UK.
"At Motorola our roots are deep in mobile hardware -- we invented mobile communications," said Motorola Mobility UK general manager Andrew Morley.
"Now, as a Google company, we've become the kind of company that can build a 4G smartphone like Moto X. It fuses our history of mobile innovation with the best of Google mobile services."

Still more expensive than the US version If you do a direct currency conversion
Also Its not clear If they're bringing both 16 & 32GB and If they are then I expect the £380 to be for 16GB, so 32 could be potentially in the £400 region
EDIT: Seems they are bring the 32 along but havent mentioned a price
Moto X UK Website
"2 GB RAM, 16 GB standard, 32 GB version available online. 2 years 50 GB storage free on Google Drive. Offer must be redeemed within 30 days of activation."

IMO, no. When you can get the 32GB Nexus 5 for £339 inc. VAT SIM-free why pay £41 more to get a smaller phone with a lower resolution screen. OK, you get the voice controls/active notifications (which does look pretty cool!) but I don't think it's worth it. Add to that we don't get Moto Maker here for now and it's all a bit late. I'd rather get the Moto G as a cheap backup for my Nexus
Having said all that, it might be awesome. I'll have a play when I see one
I like it more than the nexus because it fits in my pocket and feels more luxurious in the hand. Mostly, I wanted a smaller phone than the flagships. But the smaller screen also means much better battery life.
Is it worth the premium? Depends on what you care about and how price sensitive you are.

Why is that a bad thing? You've got it sooner and probably at a lower price compared to 400€ European price?
Is it truth that European Moto X will have no main European LTE bands?
4G LTE bands - (GSM Unlocked model only) - 700/AWS/1900MHz (B17/B4/B2)

It should be the exact same LTE Bands from the Brazilian and other Latin American models. XT1058

449,- I think
399€ 16gb. I'm thinking on buying it but I have seen there is not to much development of this phone. The thing is: nexus 5 32gb 400€ or moto X 32gb "450€"
Sorry for my english
Do they know if its running 4.4? My Rogers version is still on 4.2.2.

Is that correct? The EU main LTE bands are 800/1800/2600. I'd have bought the Latin American one if I'd known that it supports EU LTE frequencies. But the guy we negotiated about told me that it only works on LTE 700 (I think he was with Claro Puerto Rico). I could have never get the complete information about the Latin phones. So, please, what is the real configurations of those models relating their providers? What HSPDA and LTE frequencies are covered? Have they gotten 4.4 already? Do they have locked/unlocked bootloader? Any bloatware or stock?

All those frequencies you mentioned are supported by the Brazilian Model XT1058. You can unlock bootloader and it doesn't have any bloat beside one app called "Brazilian apps". It already has KitKat 4.4, but if the european version gets 4.4.2 I will flash it on mine

Moto x unlock and use in Europe

Hi there guys, thinking of buying Moto X from States. Question would which carrier Moto X would be best for Europe and how easy is to unlock the sim? Any advice is very appreciated.
Thanks a lot in advance
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Depends if you want LTE or not. If you do get the AT&T model which has the most supported bands. You will have to purchase an unlock code, which shouldn't run you into to much money.
Or if you don't mind for LTE you can save the hassle by just buying the T-Mobile version which is SIM unlocked by default.

I've got mine (att, proper unlocked) from eBay, üsd 399 altogether.. Asked seller to state 'used phone' on tracking papers (basically true!) to prevent taxes! Works great!
Is it easy to unlock one locked to AT&T network? Thanks

Buying an EU model certanly has advantages. I assume that it'll come with unlockable bootloader and without boatware. Besides all EU LTE bandwiths will be covered. That surely comes a point in the year or two when the LTE becomes widely spreaded among EU.
If the money is a major factor regarding decision, I'd opt for T-mobile. Less bloatware, unlockable bootloader, HSPDA bands and at least one useful LTE band.
I did go for AT&T as it has most bands and it was only £170 for mint condition on of eBay.

Try the app from Google Play - "Unlock your Moto X", got unlocked from AT&T within like 20 minutes for the 10 euro or so (everybody else asking 15-25)
Just to warn you - do NOT buy Sprint's Moto X attracted by noticeably lower prices since it's a CDMA phone and it will not work in Europe!!

Droid Turbo for use on T-Mobile?

Will this work?
It appears to support all the necessary radios/bands.
I would love the droid turbo (camera/screen) vs. the nexus 6.
Would be cool if the droid turbo (bought full retail) could be used on T-Mobile.
Any thoughts/comments?

I believe the Turbo will be launched for other carriers (T-Mobile/AT&T) as the "Moto X Play", from what I've read. This was based on FCC filings, but I forget where I saw it.

Seems like a better phone than the nexus 6.
I'm going to buy the 6 at launch but feel the 6" screen will be too big for me,.
-RR
I'm curious if the Moto X Play will be like the "pure" edition and will work on Verizon. It seems like the Nexus 6 will support all bands for all carriers, so there is only one SKU for that device in the USA, and a second SKU for international use.
If the Moto X Play is literally a carbon copy of the Droid Turbo but supports the additional bands, I'll buy it from Moto instead of VZW.
Only 6 days and 20 hours left...
Edit: I said pure edition, which is a Moto X thing, but really meant the N6 idea of having all bands on one device. Having the Turbo and Moto X Play is to get around the exclusivity of the Droid name, which is now locked up with Moto and Verizon only.
I think GSM version that visited the FCC might be called the Moto Maxx instead of the Moto X Play

Thanks! I was hot on the Verizon Droid Turbo but now I will wait to see if Motorola will come out with a Pure Edition model of it! Not sure they will however! Motorola seem to be giving out the high ends to exclusive tied U.S. carriers. Hope I am wrong! Love to buy a U.S. version Moto Maxx or Moto X Play unlocked 5.2" with the specs of the Nexus 6 inside!

Moto X 2014 ATT Model - my view

So, I have an ATT Moto X that I can't root, or unlock the bootloader. And that's why I am leaving the device, I loved it, but it's a must for me to be able to tinker with my android phones, ATT's foolishness lost themselves a customer.
