Best Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) ... - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello...
I´m looking for a good HRM to use with my Nexus 4 and applications like Endomondo and Runkeeper...
Zephyr HxM Bluetooth works fine? And how about Polar H7?
Thanks

The Runtastic one has BLE, meaning it will use less battery. Not sure how it's compatible with other trackers though.

Bluetooth Low Energy/Bluetooth Smart Heart Rate Monitors compatible with running apps

I understand that 4.3 will support Bluetooth 4.0/Bluetooth Low Energy, and more specifically Bluetooth Smart devices.
Does anyone have any experience with any Bluetooth heart rate monitor chest straps- even before 4.3- which were not supported by popular running apps?
To me, if a device has the Bluetooth logo, it meets Bluetooth protocol certifications and should work but these running apps say they only support a Polar or Zephyr (insert model #) here.
I didn't know if that is because that's all they test with or they're trying to hawk their own store products.
Personally, I prefer to invest in one heart rate chest strap that works with multiple apps if I decide I don't like one app at some point and how each of the running apps claim they only support 2 brands or models of something is pretty ridiculous.

Heart rate monitor?

So now that Android 4.3 is out and we supposedly have BT 4 LE support, I'm wondering if anybody has found any good heart rate monitors that work with the Nexus 4. I looked at the Polar H7, but one reviewer has already indicated that it still doesn't work with the N4. So, anybody know of any good ones that do work?
There are already applications that do the trick and they don't have any need of 4.3
Just type heart rate at play store.

Having to hold your phone and keep a finger steadily on the camera isn't even close to being as useful or battery efficient as bluetooth connecting to something strapped to your arm.
Yeah I need something that monitors heart rate while I am cycling for several hours, running, or otherwise working out. Something compatible with strava or edmondo that isn't expensive as hell (the Polar H7 is the cheapest while being accurate - but it is reported incompatible with the N4.)
Try Runtastic Heart Rate. Its works really good!!! I been using it for along time. You dont need any extra accessories. Just put your finger on the flash light; it will do the rest.
FEATURES:
* Measure your pulse with the camera on your smartphone
* See your HRM results in a graph
* Variety of different, instant measurement types: resting HR, maximum HR, and HR before/after cardio
* Upload, store, and analyze your exercise results on the runtastic fitness site, www.runtastic.com
* Share your HRM results via your social networks: Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and E-mail
Ugh...what's the best way to explain to several people that you don't want to hold your finger on your phone for several hours while you ride your bike?
While being fantastic the new Bluetooth standard is also very buggy and a battery hog, so using one for a few hours along side another athletic assistant app would result in either a dead battery or a dead network board due to the heat.
Although rudimentary the light method is very accurate and easy to use, just use benchmarks and stop to take it rather the stream of data you are looking for.
Your best bet is to get a real heart rate monitor that saves to SD so you can compile at home, trying to get an accessory for a phone will only cost you twice as much for half as much efficiency.

Runtastic Bluetooth
I've been using the Runtastic Smart Bluetooth Monitor for the last few weeks and I really like it. I don't notice the strap hardly at all when I'm running. The app is great too and mine came with a free upgrade to Runtastic Pro.

[Q] Android Wear as a Running Watch

Hello all, I am looking to either buy a new GPS running watch or an android wear device (had originally ordered an LG Watch R, but the order got messed up) to use while running. My question is, I know if I get a bluetooth heart rate strap, this will talk to my phone using either Runkeeper, Runtastic, Endomondo, or similar, and my phone will display current pace, current heart rate, distance and time. Do any apps have the facility to display all of this information on the watch. I know the new Sony Smartwatch 3 has built in GPS, but it doesn't have a hear rate monitor, so would still need my phone to receive the heart rate data. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah runtastic will display everything on the watch.

great, thank you, just need to decide, LG G Watch R, Sony Smartwatch 3 or wait on the Asus Zenwatch (its not out here in the UK yet). I think the sony would suit my needs nest however.
Sony is currently the only one with built in GPS. Right now you need to take your phone with you for tracking. Tracking with only the watch isn't supported so far but already available in beta versions oft Runtastic and Runkeeper. You will still need some heart rate strap.

Tracking is supported with My Tracks, and then you can export it.
I have runtastic pro and a g watch r . My watch doesn't show the notification of runtastic and I can't start a session using the vocal comand on the watch. Why?
I think Samsung gear live has GPS, hrr and is running android wear. which makes it the complete watch. I ordered sony because the battery life is a little bit better and i enjoy that over the heart rate monitor, even if i run marathons.

ANT+ Support?

The combination of the Note Edge, the Wahoo Fitness app, and the Garmin Vivoactive HR works perfectly as the Garmin has the option to broadcast heart rate activity over ANT+. I'd like to move to the LG V20 but I can't see in the specs any mention of ANT+. Does it have it built in like the Note Edge or at least have the ability to add the functionality? The Alcatel Idol 3 didn't list ANT+ in the specs either but it works so I hope that's the case here. Has anyone tried using an ANT device or tested the device using the ANT Tester app?
Thanks.

Apparently not. I just tried to install my Garmin heart rate monitor on the Endomondo app and it said there was no hardware support. I guess I'm going to have to find a USB ANT stick.

If it is not on the list assume it doesnt until it's on this list.

Kospet Hope running app with heart rate monitor

I bought the Kospet Hope mainly for running. I have tried many running apps like runtastic, Strava, endomondo, etc, but none of them recognizes the heart hate monitor of the smartwatch. I am now using runtastic, but without the heart hate information.
Did someone get It working with any app?
