Weird battery loss to 0% - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello folks.
On my 2nd Nexus 4 device i have a massive battery loss since yesterday.
On this device there is no root since i unboxed it. So kernel and rom couldn't be the problem.
Here is a screenshot of the battery chart:

You may try installing BetterBatterStats and CPU Spy to determine which app(s) drains your battery. Unchecking wifi location in settings/location services will help to lower the battery consumption.

Seems unlikely an app would be able to instantly drain a battery from such a level...Unless of course the battery's levels are not being correctly read... In this case a factory reset might help... If it doesn't, it's probably a hardware defect.
Found this and this with several people complaining about the same problem.. No solution so far, except the suggestion to change the battery...

New Battery Issue Please Help

For the past two days, I have been noticing huge battery drains. i had stock everything, no custom rom. android system was at the top of the list, and it kept saying it was the GPS, although it was off. so i rooted my G2 and downloaded system tuner, and turned off all the carrier IQ things, the 7 checkboxes. this morning, i figured the battery would be back to normal, but android system and android os are killing my battery

Can't tell much by SS besides go sms and launcher wake. Did the issue start around GoSms install?

ok so if anyone out there can help, my battery drain has been going on for about 4 days now. android system, android os, and mediaserver are the biggest culprits in that order. i greenified everything i could, but battery still sucks .
android system has had 4321 wakelocks in the past 9 hrs, with syncloopwakelock the biggest culprit with over 1000 wakelocks
phone has 2335 wakelocks, with 1600 from RILJ
I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR DAYS PLEASE HELP

I highly recommend you guys to disable it if you want your battery to be better ?
How was your actual battery life with it on? I've been running Fit on my phone since the first Nexus 6 port was available. While it does hold a wakelock the hit to battery wasn't all that bad considering what the app does. I average maybe 30 minutes or less SOT time with the app turned on from 630 am to 1030 pm. I was impressed as I thought I'd be recharging shortly after lunch.
Will it still drain if I don't use it but have it installed. Somehow I see notifications on my moto 360 from fit.
Use Greenify Dude !!!

It working without notification in backgriund. I belive only solution , if You don´t want to use it, is to freeze or uninstall this wih TiBu.
EDIT: looks like it is possible to disable Fit ( maybe ), under settings> Google Fit Data>and turn off Activity detection. I belive then it wont work ay more.
EDIT: nope...still working
Guys, it's not affecting battery. Don't constantly look for issues. I use Google Fit (cause I have a Moto 360) and it doesn't affect normal usage so therefore it's not an issue. If it WAS an issue it'd show in the battery graph and you'd kill your battery in a couple of hours - THAT would be an issue!

Yeah me too. I don't see any difference with or without Fit.

There is not going to be any noticable drain because the app is using the low power core. It's the same core that was supposed to give us always listening Google Now when the phone launched but Google gimped us because of patent bs.
Uh, maybe. I don't know. Maybe because we have pedometer sensor built in so its not draining battery..

Battery drain

Hello guys, in the last 5-6 days i'm facing a problem with my battery. Yesterday i decided to take screenshot and show you the problem.
So here they are. Over nine hours the battery lost 30% of the power. Any suggestions? What can i do to fix it?

Nothing weird. Use less brightness on your device and is all.

The only unusual thing there seems to be the carrier signal which might be weak and those could the phone out of power-saving, try to see if activating power-save mode makes any difference, also if changing the network data mode from LTE/auto to 3G/WCDMA might improve things.
Where do you find 3G on the network data mode?

3G in my device is second option:
1. LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto)
2. WCDMA/GSM (auto)
3. Only WCDMA
4. Only GSM
Thanks Joku1981 & xclub_101, but i have one last question. If i use a custom ROM/Kernel i will see a difference in my battery life or not?
Hi there. I had the same problem i think. I dont want do promote an app but ive used sdmaid for cleaning up my note. Now the battery drain is almost gone and the cycle is almost like the first days. Maybe it helps you too?
Greetz!

"Miscellaneous" battery drain

My phone is going through some weird battery issue. It's draining faster than it should. The biggest drain is the miscellaneous. It doesn't show what it is at all. As shown below, the phone should have lost just over 1000 mAh but in reality drained over 2700 mAh.

}
Any ideas what this could be or how to correct it?

Mine is doing the same, with Miscellaneous being at the top...not sure what is causing the issue. Are you rooted using the system-less method by chance?
No. I did adb pull and push my build.prop to change it to userdebug tho to enable multi window mode. I'm thinking I'm going to reflash the image when I get home to see if there's that has anything to do with it. Although, reflashing may correct an altogether different issue and I won't find the cause.

Hmm, I also did a build.prop edit - I may revert back to the stock one and see if that helps.
Edit: After changing the build.prop back to user (from userdebug) I can confirm that Miscellaneous is no longer displayed in the battery stats. Must be a developer feature to measure expected vs actual battery drain is my guess.
Hmm, but I wonder if the drain I'm experiencing will be any different. But as bugging as the multi window is I'm going to switch back until it gets fleshed out a bit more.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Actually it is a feature to make the total battery drain to match actual battery loss percentage. Has anyone noticed that after lollipop battery loss percentage was reset from base 100 to actual battery %. But the number never added up to the actual battery loss. Now after enabling userdebug it adds up. Wow. And fast discharging is a placebo effect.
Miscellaneous is from userdebug change in build.prop. its all normal stuff that you usually don't see cause it's normally hidden.

Should I claim the warranty

I've had my ups and downs with this phone, but today is where I might draw the line. After factory resetting this phone twice, the battery life has been awful, and today this phone got up to 106° F with the lowest brightness and only with WiFi on while browsing XDA on Chrome. I need to know if I should make good on that 2 year warranty, or if there is something that can be done about this.

Start with a factory reset. You obviously have something running the background consuming cpu.
I already have. Twice. It's a shame that this phone has no reliable way to monitor that, even with GSAM battery monitor.
Try better battery stats.
Alright

Food for thought - if you can't find an app that is making your CPU run nonstop then it has to be a problem with your firmware. Have you tried downloading the factory B20 from the ZTE website?
I tried a lot of things, including that update, but once I installed that firmware, I realized that CM 13 is stable for this phone now, so I went the extra steps and installed that on my phone. Thanks for the suggestions though.
