[Q] Internal Storage - Moving from TW to GE 4.3 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I've not been able to find a definitive answer on this so thought I'd throw it out there for you all to feast on. We all know the useable internal storage available on a TW S4 is circa 9GB. I've recently flashed a stock GE rom, but I still seem to have the same storage available. The vanilla rom is over 1GB smaller, so should that extra storage be available to me? e.g circa 10gb useable storage available? Will I need to wipe the entire internal storage before flashing the rom?
Thanks

When you flash a new rom, its build size does not affect the size of the partition. That is, Samsung has partitioned the internal hard drive and flashing a new rom does not re partition it. Hence no change in the available space.
There is another thread regarding this in the General Section, here is the link.

Cheers!!

[Q] How to repartition the i9505g to allow for the use of touchwiz roms

Hi everyone,
This is my first post. I searched a lot and so far I don't find an answer. I am sorry if I missed the answer somewhere and I would appreciate any pointers. I got an i9505G from the play store. It is nice but I would also like the possibility of playing with some of the touchwiz stuff. It is my understanding from my research that the main difference (besides the ROM that it runs) is the way the storage is partitioned and that is what prevents us from flashing one of the many ROMS available for the i9505.
Is my understanding correct? Is it simply the way the storage is partitioned that presents the challenge?
Has anyone successfully flashed a touchwiz ROM on the i9505G? If yes how did you do it? I have used the information provided in other posts to get my device rooted and twrp installed on my device (the 2.6 version that supports my phone) but I have found nothing about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Storage LG 2 after custom rom

Hello all,
I am not familiar with LG flashing.
Does a custom rom free up more internal storage on the phone?
If yes, only on AOSP/AOKP/MIUI roms or also on stripped stock roms?
I have a 16GB model with only 10GB available and it's almost 50% full with only some apps :s :silly:
No. Partitions stay the way they are. You might get some space on /system.
Thanks @Robogo i finally find the answer of this question !
So it will not increase to 12gb full use or smth?
Anyone care to make a screenshot?
Thx

I couldn't get you.
The basic thing us that the i950x (S4) is a phone which comes with 8.x GB than the usual 16 thing.
But only the i9500 has an option of flashing a new partition table and expanding the internal memory to 11GB.
When you flash the official rom .you see 16GB as storage is not possible.
Try checking it in the bottom most line of titanium backup or any other storage app
Rest upload a screenshot here too so that we can understand better.
My phone always displayed 9GB internal.

Kitkat External to Internal Swap

i've been searching since yesterday and can't seem to find the solution to install/link/move apps to SD Card as there is no option in the Settings > Apps
I downgraded to kitkat because my sp can't handle lollipop at somepoint I dunno why because at fresh install its fast and smooth after sometime it slows down..
can someone link here where I can swap external to internal for the kitkat rom, thanks

I have literally the same concern, could you find an answer?
I guess you're trying it on an unofficial CM11 Rom, what's the situation on other CM11 based Roms? If swapping external to internal is impossible, is it because of the CM11 entirely, or the Sony XSP itself?
If swapping is not possible on CM11, what about CM12 (Lollipop) ?
I'm a Huawei Ideos X5 and Motorola Atrix 4G user and CM7.2 has the option to use the external SDCard as internal SD on both devices.
I will also be grateful if the users of XSP check my thread about this subject as well and advise:

well on lollipop i just use the Apps2SD app which creates a 2nd partition on your sd card and link apps there but the problem with lollipop roms are they're not smooth as kitkat roms somehow lag/freeze shows up after you install the apps you need, I also tried Apps2SD in an official cm11 rom and when you reboot after linking an app, it disappears even if the 2nd partition is re-mounted after the reboot. I think it's based on the rom itself and not on sony xsp.

10 GBs Space missing on MotoX Pure

Hello.
I have a moto x pure running android 6.0 bootloader unlocked and rooted with TWRP recovery.
I keep encountering a problem with my internal storage there are 10 GBs of space missing. I need to wipe my data and reset the phone every couple of months for this issue any idea what's causing it and if there is any soulution other than wipe the device. Attached are some screenshots of the issue with the device info
Same thing was happening to mine and I didn't have a solution. I recently installed a new rom and the data went away, however I never actually found a proper solution. I had 13 GBs taken up by 'system' for seemingly no reason on the stock rom. Sorry I couldn't be more help, just reporting that you are not alone.

Unfortunately I can't suggest anything, I was using this phone from stock since I got it. I just now started to install roms on this device so I don't know all of the options yet. However some people state that LineageOS has the 'chop chop' to turn on the flashlight. However the 'wave your hand over the screen for it to turn on' feature is missing on my rom (crDroid) and I assume any rom that is not stock. I believe that most custom AOSP roms will not include most moto features. You should look for roms that are build off of stock, they will contain all the features of the stock rom as well as 'custom' features from AOSP roms.
Edit: After looking through the roms for this device, it looks like this is the go-to 'stock' custom rom TruPureX If you want all the moto features, but still want extra stuff, this looks like it would be the best bet.
I can't see any problem on the screenshots...
You have
7,94 gb Android OS
5,20 gb Apps
6,75 gb Images
0,95 gb Audio
1,67 gb Other
That summed up gives 22,51 gb off the internal memory
The device shows 22,90 gb used, the 390mb left is caused on cache/dalvik-cache/odex stuff i did not add there
Forget about what i told you, i was wrong on adding the Android OS :silly:
I've never had this problem, mine is working properly (or not, since it shows less than the total sum)
