[Q] Help needed for finding libraries - IDEs, Libraries, & Programming Tools

Hello I am a starting developer and am very new to android app development. I was thinking of making a chatbot in android and hoping if you guys know if there are any libraries that can help me in the development. It would be highly appreciated if you guys can point me to the right direction.
I'm really sorry if this is the wrong section.

libpurple supports lots of chat protocols and seems to have an Android port.

Expert Android Programmer Wanted

Hello all, I'm looking to hire an expert Android programmer to design a real estate app for me. Any interested expert Android programmer out there, please email me or post your quick resume on this thread.
Thanks,
Mitreusmc.
Not sure if this post was appropriate to bump or not, but I am looking for a highly experienced dev (security related) for the development of a new application as well. If this is not the place for it, please advise. I searched and this was the only real thread on the subject.
Regards.

Question for a starter

Hey all,
As you can see I'm new to the community and I had a few questions. I wanted to build my own android build, but I don't know where to start reading. So I'm asking for any tutorials on the web in where I can start off at.
I saw a few builds and was shocked on the creativity. I have a spare HD2 so I'm willing to play with it a bit more
I also wanted to know if there is a IRC server/room that I can connect to and perhaps get more involved in the community
Anyways thanks for all your help
knowing a crap-load of linux is probably the best place to start @[email protected] and im pretty sure you have to know how to use the Android SDK, but im not a pro or anything @[email protected] maybe ask in the other forum, the development forum.
Well I know a bit of a linux and haven't read up on the Android SDK. I know that it's a start but wanted a bit more information on the topic before anything.

[Q] How to Develop or port?

Im trying to find info or better yet a tutorial on how to mainly "port" android, say from a CM nightly over to HD2. I have a bit of experience with coding older motorola phones, so I believe I have the capabilities of learning such a process.
I have read the threads about linux on HD2, and read up on the links that are in it. thats mainly about kernals. nothing about taking an already developed android ROM and making it work w/HD2.
Is there any info that I can read up on, or if anyone wants to give me some info it would be greatly appreciated.
Devs dont really look in the general section do they?

[Q] Noob question

OK, well I've finally decided to take a dive into the WONDERFUL world of development (specifically android related). i have some experience and know how most things work. I am a bonified flash junkie lol. anyway i'm wanting to learn how to tweak/customize various things, such as porting controls to a status bar, or adding features to the lockscreen ect. However, i don't know what programming language i need to learn or really where to start for research.
Would someone kindly point me in the direction of a good beginners guide on what i need to know.
with regards,
Tiwey, Future developer (i hope)
Java is a good place to start. java java java
Good info on this thread, perhaps we can build it up to be a general beginners dev guide...I think it would help if there was one.

There seems to be a lot of demand for this. To the point I'm thinking of contacting some colleges in my area to see if they would add an Android course to curriculum and hire me as a lecturer
I like Reto Meirs (sp?) book on Android 2.

[Q] How do i build a rom [android]

hi all,
it might be noobish to ask, but im fairly good with c and c++, know a few things about java(did a course a few years back) and am currently studying c#, I'm interested in knowing how to build your rom from scratch.
I dont expect anyone to hand-feed me stuff, but i would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction or refer some guides which i can go through
i'd really like to help with the andriod scene since i do have a blackstone and i'd love to help out
cheers
p.s -> sorry if this has been posted in the wrong section...
@Mods Can someone move this to a more general section please? I would like to get some info on this too...
