Kitchen issue? (Solved) - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Solved

FYI I am not an Android DEV, but I have a few suggestions to try
Install or reinstall:
-Android SDK
-Java JDK (Different from the "standard" JDE....)
-.NET Framework? Seems crazy and un likeltly, yet worth looking at as a last resort. Youd be surprised how many things rely on .Net framework... despite it often not being installed on the OS.
PS I know .NET framework is probably WAY off.... yet with the minimal info you offered I figure it is worth a shot.
Any chance you can add a screenshot?

Oh! One more idea... many dont realize Cygwin installs a default set of tools... some of the most basic are missing by default (SSH and Telnet for example).
Let me know how it works

I'm in the same boat as you. I think apktool has to be updated to the new api level if I'm not mistaken. Could be wrong though.

Just tried the linux version and worked liked a charm.
Just decompiled my framework-res.apk and made the changes to dimens.xml to lower navbar height and compiled with no errors.

Has anyone gotten the Insufficient storage error yet?

I just got it on mine, 2.61GB Available storage. Does anyone know how to clear up this error? its quite annoying. I tried going through my system but couldnt find a .Odex file or anything...

BlackMarket, nova launcher. i think thats it
I to am getting this error and have no idea on how to fix it. I have cleared both caches. If it helps I'm rooted on MDC and have the oedex wifi mod installed.
I got that error for one application when it was trying to be updated in the Play store - Android Tuner. I got around it by using ES explorer and deleting the odex file then reattempting app update.
I have 6.2 GB free and I am unable to update or install apps.
I have wiped dalvik and rebooted.
Update: this is apparently only an issue for updating apps. Also if I unistall and try to reinstall it will throw the error message.
I had installed Modern Combat 4 but it ate up my storage. I uninstalled and move clockwork and all my cached wallpapers to the sd card.
The apps that I'm currently experiencing this issue with are google drive and vine.

Only workaround I could find was a total wipe and reflash.

Out of curiosity, why root? Not much of a need on the Nexus 7. Enjoy your new tablet and don't stress over the little stuff, amigo!
Also, not sure, but I think the toolkit supports the LTE variant. I may be wrong though.

If you're going to root, it's better to do it as soon as you get your device. Root requires unlocking your bootloader and thus wipes your device.

Interesting. There is no root guide for deb (the LTE version of N7 2013). I see the root guide for flo, which bizarrely recommends using autoroot instead of just installing the superuser binaries (why? @philos64 ). I'm tempted to write one for deb myself, despite not having deb on hand (which is generally bad form).
If you want me to write a root guide for deb, thank this post and I'll write it. Alternately, a user with deb on hand and a good understanding of the two required fastboot commands and TWRP could do it.

Spoiler alert. Rooting deb is the same as flo, but I'm itching to create a root guide that doesn't create unnecessary steps or involve a root kit. So yes, I'll do it.

I don't have anything without being there. I used this by DL the entire root zip chain fire has prepared. I extracted the "guts" and then used PC Odin to Odin in root/supersu...then after reboot I DL ROM manager and used it to one click in CWM.
You could also Google QBKing77 and tag root s4 behind it and his video is on there its perfect

All are pretty sweet....the TW are all real nice and the AOSP side seems to be transitioning to 4.4 from 4.3 so they are "growing"

Do you use an adblocker of some form? If so try disabling it or revert it's changes. I use adfree, which modifies the host file, but I get a different error (host cannot be found). When I revert the changes it works fine. I was using tapatalk pro, but I've switched ot xda premium...now it works fine..
I uninstalled adblock plus and get this error now instead:

Did you reboot your phone? It may still be affecting it until you reboot. Some blockers require reboot after.

what about a different browser? or clearing the data from app manager and trying again? I get that exact issue with adfree from bigtincan, as soon as I revert the hosts file it works. I got rid of tapatalk and will never use it again as I only use it for xda now. my company community used to use it but since we switched to lithium community tapatalk doesn't work with it. xda premium uses a different redirector which isn't affected by this issue...
Yeah its a strange one. I've tried stock browser, chrome and dolphin but still can't open links on XDA using the official app. Tried uninstalling adblock and rebooting too.

it's weird how the xda free and xda premium apps have different redirectors. maybe because of this reason. at this point I would suspect some dns issue though. what if you use that same link on a computer or other device? Does it work? Or not? If your router/gateway is doing adblocking of some form then it probably is blocking it at that level...just a thought. I can also duplicate it with one of my routers when I use a host style ad blocking at the gateway.
I hate XDA premium app, I have actually bought it but prefer the free one. My laptop works fine with downloading links connected to the same wifi that my phone is connected to. I get the same error on my phone whether I'm on wifi or mobile network.
Well something you've installed is interfering with it either directly or by modifying the hosts. OR maybe your ROM has a non-default hosts file.

heh, I didn't even think to look for a flashable hosts. Mine is fine, but that's an easier idea. I suspect it's non-default, triggering this issue. It's the onyl thing that makes sense especially on multiple WANs (WWAN + WLAN) AND different browsers.
I just ended up wiping my rom and installing a new one which seems to have solved it.
Cheers for your help though
