[Q] Speaker suggestions for Nexus Q? - Nexus Q Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since we do not have a forum for Nexus Q Accessories, I am posting this questions here:
What speakers are being used in conjunction with the Nexus Q amplifier?
I am considering bookshelf speakers from axiom audio, which seem to meet the Nexus Q amplifier requirements.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Dayton B652's. They're cheap and sound amazing.

I considered them but then saw a few recent reviews that have deterred me from considering them. Unable to post the link but if you can find the review on reddit (google"reddit stop_buying_the_dayton_b652s")

Yeah, they switched manufacturers and started putting out a sub par product. They have since corrected the speakers and are back up to the original quality. You can check it r/zeos on reddit. He's the audiophile expert, and he has begun recommending them again.

def tech pro 800 100-200 used on ebay per set

The B652's were only $29 a pair when I bought them. Too good of a deal to turn down with the reviews they had been receiving. I think they're close to $50 a set now.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

How about some just bookshelf speakers not the whole 5.1 setup. Preferably that actually fit on a bookshelf.

The Dayton B652's are bookshelf speakers

I think specification wise and updating wise nexus but two caveats
1-no rear camera
2-no external sd card slot(so important for some)
If you could endure that so nexus not endure so gtab2

Yeah external is big. I know you can buy a adapter and use a USB storage for the nexus but seems like a hassle. Also development seems good over here so I may just buy the galaxy

Thanks for the vids. It seems that the screen and the name\fasts updates all id be missing. Seems Google kind of took advantage of its loyal customers to me. I nexus is cool but I expected more. I've also been reading all the stories about the quality of it over on the nexus 7 forums. Some people have exchange it over 5 times. Plus gt2 jelly bean anyways thanks to developers

Better... lurk the transformer/ Asus tablets forums to see what problems they have. Not too many problems on stock gtabs.

I was thinking of the Nexus for the screen and processor or Tab 2 for the SD card slot and the Student Edition at Best Buy. Figured I'm not going to be using it much in direct sunlight and I'll almost definitely need expandable storage so went with the Galaxy. First Samsung device and I'm really happy with it. A lot of development options, had it rooted in 20 minutes, etc. The keyboard that came with the Student Edition is pretty handy if I'm going to be typing notes for school. I'm a fan.
I just saw the app to sd problem but is it worth the wait. Unless i missed the fix
Using xda app-developers app
Just don't flash cm9/10 or the keyboard wont wont work. But as for 7 or gt2 it really depends on what your using it for. Do you need a lot of storage on the device?
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Movies ROMs and gaming.the first two I can take care of with gt,but with such limited storage of a 8gb (5gb) tablet it hard not to fill up quick on other apps and games like Max Payne etc
I'm curious on this as well. I loved the nexus7 but it had too many quality control issues

Just reserved my gt2 after owning an N7 and the screen cracking into a million pieces. After watching some video comparisons on speed I don't think there's much in it plus dev here on xda is way ahead at the mo.
Even gaming there's very few apps/games that will utilize the quad core CPU. Its really a close race between them that basically comes down to the options you get. Better processor more ram better screen vs external storage front and rear cameras and better build quality.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda premium
I just switched from an Asus Transformer Prime (TF201), a member of the same pedigree as the Nexus 7, Infinity, etc. It is a piece of junk. GPS flat doesn't work (it did in an earlier firmware version), WiFi stinks, and the glass cracks if you look at it the wrong way (mine cracked from the keyboard dock...too bad since the dock was the best feature). The digitizer and screen work, but the glass has a spider web on it. Plus, Asus support is abysmal. They used to be a fantastic company, but something changed and they are AWFUL now. Stay away.
I would only consider a Nexus 7 because Google supports it.
Anyway, I jumped all over the BestBuy GT2 7.0 deal. It seemed to be the best featured device, the knowledgeable sales guy (yes, my BestBuy had one) recommended this one or the Acer, and with the special deal there, I chose the GT2 7 for $250. I am not regretting it so far. From what I have seen in this forum, the videos I saw on Youtube, and other Google search results, I think this is a deal everyone should jump all over.
For the record...I also own an Asus Netbook (1001P), and have built PCs with Asus motherboards. I jumped on the TF201 because of ASUS' reputation of making good hardware. That was my biggest mistake, and perhaps others' as well.
I was gonna buy the nexus but I really didn't want to have them ship me one as I wanted it now lol. Found the bestbuy bundle with keyboard and usb thing and WOW I love it and it's really amazing. Even just stock with root, it's a great tablet.

I have used the international S3 and its volume is way toooo low. Nexus S is better even without voodoo sound. People have pretty much given up on getting stable voodoo sound for the S3 its been so freaking long there has been nothing. The amplifier is just plain inferior not only to the nexus S but to alot of other phones as well even the US S3 is more powerful. No amount of "clean" audio can make up for lack of volume.
Even the iphone 5 dropped the ball as far as power is concerned probably because of the "thin" BS that has surrounded the smartphone world now. Iphone 4S/4 and nexus S/galaxy S remain the best audio phones. Iphone is best out of the box but nexus S beats it after voodoo sound. Its almost shocking that we dont have voodoo sound like sound with stock, reviewers would have crapped all over it and it would be more recognized as the greatest audio smartphone ever.
I've heard the Innos D9 (rebranded in ph as cloudfone thrill 430x) and it comes close to the SQ of nexus s.
The owner believes it has a yamaha sound chip in it capable of producing the sound i was hearing. The sound is more "airy" and "wide" than that of the nexus s but the nexus s is noticeably more detailed.
Both devices are great performers sound-wise and it's just a matter of preference what to choose.

Limited availability isn't even a valid complaint of the product. its a criticism of where you bought the device from. They were readily available at Walmart, Office Max, Best Buy, and Staples for me. I went with Walmart to get my standard 10% discount, but I could and still can go anywhere and see at least 5-10 ready to be bought.

The speakers are strategically placed to give stereo spread and still keep the device this with a thin bezel.
I don't understand how the last model had a single crappy speaker, this one has stereo and it is a disadvantage because of placement?

+1 for Omate, and also Sony SW2. Those are in two different categories, but what picks my interest in SW2 is that developer behind Augmented SmartWatch Pro app has been contracted to help Sony with their software. That gives me a hope they will get something right
